One of us needs to win the lottery, buy up all the licences that are causing problems, and just give them back to Takaya in a neatly wrapped up care-basket so he can do whatever he wants to do with the series again with no hassle.

Maybe he has really bad writers block and gave up.

Or maybe it's the thing we already found out, that there are legal/licensing issues.

I'm not exactly up-to-date with the manga but I have kept my eye on the situation for a while. It seems strange that it would be legal/licensing issues as last I checked he owned the rights to Guyver still -- just had an agreement with Kadokawa to publish in Shounen Ace.

I never heard of anything changing in regards to that. Unless the legal issue is Kadokawa not wanting to continue and he's locked into a situation where they hold the rights to publication. Might have to do some digging.

It is very likely to do with his late work partner.
It turns out he had a partner for a long time, there is some indication of him having a partner back when the first guyver movie was made.
Alas there was a death a couple of years ago, of his most recent partner, probably the same person.
If that is the case, then it makes sense, as that partner would have possibly owned a portion of the rights of guyver.
Those rights may have passed to the family. of course in Japanese culture, that might be a very difficult situation to deal  with.

This is not confirmed, it is speculation.

Hey everyone, life long Guyver fan, first time commenting on the site.

Been trying to find out information on Yoshiki Takaya and what a current update on where the Guyver Manga stands. Is there a way we can get a direct quote from Yoshiki himself? I wonder if we can somehow send him fan mail and ask for a formal response? Might seem like a leap, but I believe we can do it if we push hard enough.

Thoughts? Concerns?

I know someone who could ask him, but I won't because in Japanese culture it would be considered rude.
We know all we need to know. there is a legal issue.  These things take time and we just have to wait.
This is why Yoshiki Takaya has been working on the prime statues. It's all he can currently do.

Seems to be conjecture at this point. Either legal issues or his lack of an assistant or he is too old or that he is working on his family dentistry practice. All we can do is wait and hope that 2020 will bring us the newness and possible end to the manga we all love so much. Either way, I am still a happy, loyal fan! As are we all.

A number of fans got a personal photo and message  of thanks for a gift they went to him many years ago. It was a belated thanks, and was only a few months ago. he was happy and was clearly working on guyver related things.
It has also been directly said by a personal friend of Takaya San, that there are legal type issues to do with the guyver Manga.  I think it was some kind of licensing thing.
It is technically conjecture, but these sources are pretty trustworthy.

Sounds like conjecture to me.

I'm not even so sure there are legal issues tbh. This kind of legal issue is extremely rare in the manga industry so I'm inclined to think otherwise.

If he's had a falling out with Kadokawa he'll either have to wait until their publishing contract expires, or look for a new publisher if he's already been released from their employment.

He's probably just chilling and enjoying other things in life.

Or maybe we could be inclined to listen to the people who actually know Takaya personally and have a good idea of the situation?
I'm not normally one to jump to conclusions, but when something essentially comes from the horses mouth, I think it's foolish to go and say the opposite.

We know he was dealing with a death recently and we know he was looking for a new partner. it is likely his old partner was partial owner of Guyver and that partial ownership passed to the family.
That part is conjecture for sure, but let's not doubt the sparse information we have been given from reliable sources.

I hear what you're saying but anybody can say they're close to him. Unless it comes directly from the man himself, I'm gonna reserve judgement. If that makes me foolish, so be it.

We have literally zero concrete proof of any legalities. We can only confirm he was looking for an assistant (not a partner) due to his ads in Shonen Ace. If "Yoshiki Takaya" is a pen name it's possible that anything released under that name was done by a combination of two people (though the net has done very well in hiding the existence of a secondary partner). If it's just him though, he would own the copyright and the work exclusively.

My own personal conjecture would be that he's waiting for Kadokawa's distribution rights to expire so that he can take his creation elsewhere.

Then again, I, like everyone else here, have no idea what's actually going on with him/them.

Happy New Year btw.

The one person got a direct message from takaya san with a personal photo for a few fans specifically thanking them after somebody asked for some info about it. it was very specific. I'm not explaining it very well, but that person was definitely in direct contact with takaya san. I haven't seen the photo but I was told that photo doesn't exist anywhere else.

The other person is the mangaka for the new zeorymer Manga and was Takaya san's understudy. they have an officially verified twitter account with a blue tick on it.

The existence of a partner is kind of known. there was an image of the workshop for the original guyver film that was posted to facebook. it was a drawing and apparently it said on it that it was done by some guy (not takaya) a member of takaya productions.  I don't know if that refers to production crew of the film, but I don't think so personally. that was called biomorphs or something wasn't it?  I can try and find that if you think that is worth looking at yourself.

I'm pretty sure one of those people asking the questions was the owner of this site in the past? so I think they are pretty reliable.

Maybe we can ask Sully?

Happy new year :)

Hi guys,
I have it on good authority that Takaya-Sensei is still working on the Guyver manga.
New Guyver will be coming 'soon' and there have been 'some problems'.
To ask more would be impolite.

For the cynical amongst us, like me, I'll believe it when I see it! If it's not an official statement,  I won't get my hopes up. Despite good intentions, situations can easily change and projects get put on hold.

Let's hope we see a release this year.
