New Chapter status?

This isn't the first time this has happened though. Guyver has being around a long time, and it's still listed as a Shonen Ace product  with yet even more Merc forcast to come out (last weeks Wonderfest had new Guyver stuff from Prime 1). So it's by no means dead.

The issue is a lack of contact. If not for Steve Wag and Max updating us with the picture of the "Guyver team" we'd have being more worried that something is badly wrong. The issue is we've really know idea what's happening. Other than we're getting new stuff... just not manga that we really want.

i can't stop to wonder if the delay could somehow be contract related?

wether he's contracted on a 2,5,10 year contract which is at its end and one of the parties aren't too pleased with the ongoing terms? or possibly negotiations of new terms and possibly publishing.

he possibly wants his work published in english and distributed overseas again but the publisher doesn't see a profit in it, so just won't do it.

There could be another anime deal in the works. Netflix is getting into anime production and just announced 13 new shows due for release in 2018 including a Saint Seiya reboot, and their Castlevania anime has been a massive success for them. I'd imagine the Guyver either has already come up as a potential candidate for Netflix, or will soon.

A S-Saint Seiya reboot!? Oh my god I just had an orgasm! I love the Saint Seiya series so much. I hope he will be adding the Heaven arc like originally planned.

For the freely available material? There is a bit more available online than that.

The page you have there is from the monthly releases, but the the first couple ( bigger) chapters of volume 30 are out there that include this sequence, but it is part of a larger chapter. But there is not much more than this.

We're not allowed to say specifically, but look around the different free manga sites. You should be able to find one or two with a bit more. I think there is 3 chapters of volume 30 available.

Just to clarify what Matt is saying, only the first 30 (and a bit) volumes are available free online.

If you'd like to be provided with translated scan of volumes 30, 31 & 32, you simply need to post evidence that you own at least 16 physical tankobon copies. This shows your contribution to the fandom through financial support of the guyver franchise.

If you don't own any yet, it's a great time to invest. The more who do, the better chance we all have of the hiatus coming to an end!!

A second season would be so epic i'd forgive the entire thing. Seeing a Guyver Gigantic Exceed animated would make me fanboy out.

In the event that isn't the case is it possible that he might be working ahead privately? Like he has 5 chapters or so drawn out he just needs to publish them? Do Mangaka ever do that?

not looking good is it.

Well it's not over. The fact is that Guyver is still listed as an Ace product. Just we've no clue what is going on outside that Guyver is selling stuff, just not the thing we really want (the comics!).

Either way, this site will still be going (as will my other sites).

TricoBren any chance in messaging Max from MaxFactory on Twitter to see if he knows why Takaya is taking such a long break?

I would bet that Takaya is going all in planning the story for several volumes. That way the story can be continuous again.

Yeah, my guess is Takaya realised he needs to end the story fast and this is probably the first time he's given it some actual thought and planned an ending.

He's got a hell of a lot of loose ends to tie up without making things too predictable or inadvertently opening up more questions that will need more chapters to resolve.

He's likely spent the last 2 years storyboarding and script writting and once he's done it will run until it's ultimate conclusion.

Unless he's wants to pull a Shinji Mizushima and still be writing in 20 years, he needs to get his skates on!! :)

Hell, even Osamu Akimoto retired last year at 63 year of age ending a 40 year run of 'Kochikame'. By all accounts Takaya has 6 years left before retirement!

I have faith that this is going to be wrapped up soon and it will be epic! Gotta keep hope alive... Maybe we will get lucky next month and the ace cover will have Guyver with cat ears and big boobs on it. I now call a lady flashing "mega smashing" btw. You're welcome.
