Hyper_Guyvantic Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 So I dont know if this has been brought up here, but I posted this a while ago on Facebook and feel its time we have some sort of official title for us as fans but what do we call each other? When I talk to other nerds and say I am a Guyver-Fan they go "OH MacGyver!" So that made me start thinking. There are G-Fans for Godzilla and other Kaiju fans, Whovians for Doctor Who fans, Trekkies for Star Trek Fans, Fannibals for Hannibal Lecter fans. Hell even Twilight fans are called Twihards or Twihearts. Someone on Facebook suggested "BioBoosters" and a Co-Worker who also likes Guyver suggested "Zoa-nerds." I am open to suggestions for a list in which we can take a poll on the most popular one to be our fandom title. Quote
*guyverfan Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 drop the bio and just 'boosters' sounds good to me? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 As long as you don't apply the label to others, that's fine, doesn't bother me.I don't personally feel good about special names for fans, but if you guys want it, I am prepared to support you in whatever way you need it. Quote
LordSpleach Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 We don't need a label. Star Wars fans don't need any. 1 Quote
river_chaos Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 That's because Star Wars is known on an international level by all ages; everyone in the world knows what Star Wars is. That and I don't think they've found a cool enough name to call themselves. Quote
LordSpleach Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Not all fandoms need nicknames IMO. The current suggestions just feel too forced to me. Quote
Aether Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Not all fandoms need nicknames IMO. this.^ whatever happens...please, please.please not Zoa-nerds!!! Edited August 5, 2014 by Aether 1 Quote
Hyper_Guyvantic Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 That is why I asked for suggestions in this thread that we can toss around. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 We don't need a label. Star Wars fans don't need any. Does the term "Warsies" ring a bell? Quote

*PrimalNemesis Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Why not call the fandom the Guyver nation or something similar to that? I honestly prefer being simply called a Guyver Advocate though. 1 Quote
Salkafar Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 We're too small to be considered a 'fandom'. Besides, what do you call fans of Batman? Of the Avengers? I don't think a name is necessary. 1 Quote
Hyper_Guyvantic Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 But think of it. If we have a title in which we can call ourselves, it might respark interest in Guyver again. I mean look at the Hannibal Lecter fan base. It was small before the NBC series was released and picked up a small following. It wasnt until people started wearing Hannibal shirts reading Fannibal, that it picked up in popularity with shirts like "You're talking to a Fannibal. Please don't be rude." 1 Quote
*Jess♥ Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I think what you're aiming for is publicity. it can be done without a designated term for a fanbase, but don't let that dissuade you, I only mentioned it for clarity. Anyone could wear a t-shirt with a control metal on it, if these things are produced by the people who own the copyright. actually i do see the attraction here, as the 'name' of a fandom is not copyright protected, so technically, anyone could make a t-shirt with that emblazoned on it. a particular name that a couple of members do tend to use is 'the advocacy'. I don't particularly mind that, but it isn't really specific enough for putting on a t-shirt. Quote
Guyver0 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 What about something that focuses on the site like "Armoured Legends" followed by a collage of armoured figures such as Guyver, Kamen Rider, Tekkaman, etc. Quote

Kanji Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) What about "G-Units"? I wouldn't mind being refereed to as a G-Unit, but I guess in the context of the series it doesn't make sense. Also, wasn't that the name of 50 Cents group? lol Edited August 8, 2014 by kanji_xiii Quote
*V Guyver Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Yeah it was. There is also a rapper named Guyver. Honestly, I would of thought 50 cent would of had a group called. "2 cents short of proper grammar" but that's just me. I'm still partial to Bio-Boosters. But really don't need a fan nickname, nor would most people get it even if introduced as such. Still fun though. XD Quote

TricoBren Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Hi guys, I tried looking for a introduction thread but couldn't find one so... Hello! I loved the Guyver when I was in high-school and was totally hooked on the video releases from Manga Entertainment. I found this forum and thought I'd register as I have just started reading the Guyver from scratch! Greetings and sorry if this should be posted someplace else! Quote
