  1. I replied about the pic on DA... but nicely done. I wouldn't worry about tablet size. It is definitely one of those things that works with the old saying " It's not the size that matters, it's how you use it." Up until this Christmas, a 4x5 tablet is what I have been using since... Oh about 2000. And one of my other art buddies still use a 4x5 for all his digital inking and coloring/painting work (and he kicks a lot of ass). I've replaced my original 4x5 Graphire 2 once, with an updated 4x5 Graphire 4. So for roughly 8 years, I used a 4x5 tablet, and by gods, if it wasn't for Christmas this year, I'd still be. This year I got a new Wacom Bamboo 8.5 x 5.3 from my brother... and really, the only difference is that it's set up for widescreen monitors ( seriously...the sensitivity and other specs are all the same). The really good tablets (Intuous) are much more expensive... and after trying a buddies at the last Otakon, I didn't notice much difference ( although in the long run I bet I would have). (note: It seems the Bamboo line is phasing out the old Graphire line as the main "starter" tablet... I guess the age of Widescreen is coming upon us now... by force)
  2. Personally, I wouldn't want someone to continue with my stories. It's not that I don't think somone could do it, or do a better job... but I wouldn't want somebody to be stuck with what I left. And with what I do have done, I don't think anybody really even knows how I want my characters to handle certain situations. Because in my personal opinion, what I have now, is incomplete. And not just the fact that I have more stories to write. But the main fact that my vision for the stories, also go back to the begining... re-writing what I have already done, in order to make it more original, something more my own. And more importantly, something not so cookie cutter. In the past, fleshing out characters was not a big priority. Back then it was battles and bloodshed. Now, looking back, I really want to reinvision my characters. Not really change them... but improve on what I had originally planned. Of course, the main problem is, trying to actually get the work done. I will say this. If I ever decide to officially let it go, I will give a timeline, updated character profiles ect... of what I had planned, and what was going to happen to my characters in the future. And by the looks of things... it may happen sooner than later.
  3. As far as I know, the website will not be dying anytime soon. It's mainly the site updates that are the big problem. As it stands, the forum, and the site itself will remain up, hopfully for another 8 years. Who knows... you may see, one, or two updates in that time
  4. You know... I have no idea what is going on anymore. For the longest time there, we were barely struggling to stay alive. The forum seemed dead. Then life started to breath into it, and the group started to get back together, with certain members returning to even post on the forum. Things seemed to be on the up and up, and inspiration was starting to return. However... it seems that everybody has somewhat dissapeared once again. Honestly, the future of this site does not seem too bright. And really, it's been in a slow, painful death state for some time. There was a time when our secret disscussion forum was one of the most posted in forums, even in this boards best days. That board barely has any posts in it at all anymore ( granted, I am guilty of it as well). For a fanfiction site, I'd say it's had a hell of a good run. We've been around for a good 8 or so years... more than pretty much any fanfiction site in existence. But, we shall see what the others think.
  5. Not neccisarily true. Especially considering how he is extremely near death. Maybe in his prime... but we've seen how the Gigantic can adapt to most combat... we've never really seen the potential for either character. The only difference is, that we are seeing more of the Gigantic's abilities, but Alkanphel is currently KO'd after revivng Imakarum ( who is supposed to be the most powerful of the 12 ability wise). Gigantic Guyvers, one on one with a Zoalord seems to be more than an even match, before some of the abilities were discovered. Since that has happened, the Gigantic clearly outclasses "normal" Zoalords in most aspects. Which is why they are dropping pretty fast. I think 1 Gigantic vs Alkanphel would have been a good match. But we will probably never know since Alkanphel will probably never be at all full power ever again. But considering the Gigantic was essentially made to fight Alkanphel... and not other Zoalords, who knows.
  6. You know... wiritng is not something I love to do. It can be downright tedious sometimes. Finding time to do it can be frustrating. Artwork really has always been my main focus. My fic was always ment to be a small side story to that main fic. What I do love however, is creating. But that is the easy part. It's the fleshing out that takes the time of course. BUT, for the last 3 years, I have been working a midnight shift job. More recently I have switched to a day shift job... and quite frankly, I am finding that I have a lot more energy, and am finding out that I need less sleep to feel rested, and now have more time during the day to do things. So... I am not making any promises... but I HAVE writen 3 pages in ther last week. Is it a good sign? We shall see.
  7. Thancrus was destroyed by the Megasmasher in the 12 part OAV. IMO, Aptom doesn't have standard HF Swords. When he was in chaos mode, he did have a HF spike. Thus he most likely has a variation of that in his new form.
  8. Depending on the circumstances, I am sure Jason would share the Dreadnought armor with another WG... I am sure, if Max didn't have the Giant unit already boosting his power at the time, we probably would have had Max getting the Dreadnought armor for the fight instead, given his more general familiarity with the units/Jason probably not wanting his wife to be in harms way ect... ( that and we could have had Fiona get it at any time later in the fic as well... but it would have ment drawing a new pic for WGC)... but then if Max didn;t have the Giant... who knows if he would have even been asked to help out? But considering she was the only applicable unit bearer at the time to accept the armor, she bonded with it, and ass was whupped at the time.
  9. Yay, some Kamen Rider fna art! I love the way you did his helmet design. Makes it look a bit more pissed off than it did in the movie.
  10. Shame he doesn't post here no more. Hopfully when he gets some pics he will post them on the forum. "EvilFx" would be his nick name btw...
  11. It all depends which Hulk and Doomsday you are refering to? Considering I know only of the classic Doomsday... Savage Hulk - Would be a good fight. Especially if Hulk was pissed off from the get go ( ver likely). This one is a toss up. Banner Hulk - Still big and green, but with a brain. Doomsday gets the win here. "World War" Hulk - He's now a pure warrior, and his rage is more focused, giving him a lot more power. Not to mention a warriors mind. I'd give this one to Hulk. "Hulkamania" Hulk-ster - YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT BROTHER! CAUSE HULKAMANIA IS GOING TO RUN WILD ALL OVER YOU!... yeah... Doomsday.
  12. Because sticking directly to the original plot would have required a LOT longer piece of work to flesh out characters and whatnot. You may forget that despite it being a Superman story... it moved into other comics as well... like Green Lantern. My quick review: ( SPOILERS! YES I DON"T CARE IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT! MWAHAHAHAHA!) Overall: 3/5 - Nothing spectacular, but overall pretty decent. Some of ther revamping was ok, but some of it was kinda iffy. I was a fan of the 4 Supermen from the comics, and, admittingly, was dissapointed that none of the character actually apeared. Doomsday was pretty close to what they did in the comics. Granted, it wasn't perfectly the same, but still, he didn't speak, and his only goal seemed to destroy. That part was pretty accurate. And with the PG-13 rating, people weren't crawling out of vehicles that he destroyed. He was clearly killing. The fight with Superman was pretty well done too. Lots of collateral damage. Supermans death wasn't as dramatic... but still... pretty well done. This is of course where the movie starts to differ quite a bit from the original plot. The Clone idea that they did use however, seemed to take from 3 of the characters anyway ( with Steel being left out). Superboy - Being a clone of Superman Eradicator - Being "right minded" in his actions, but much more violent Cyborg - The actual fighting with Superman, and noting his weakness' Lex Luthor's plot in this was kinda tacked on I felt. But they clearly showed he had ulterior motives... and also proved that you may be able to clone Superman... but you won't be controlling him for long. I also liked the fact that, when Superman returned, he used a variation of the black suit, as well as a Gun ( despite it being a Kryponite gun) as per what happened in the comics as well. That and he had his long hair. Overall, it was pretty enjoyable. I would have liked them to use the cast that they had used for the Superman Animated series ( and thus Justice League after), but the more famous cast did a pretty good job too.
  13. Happy birthday man. Just be happy. No matter how old you get... you'll never be old as James
  14. Answer: For no in fic logical reason. Guyver 4/Isis is named as such, because she is based on a character from a different fan fic, who inspired Brian to start the WG fic.
  15. Errr... how do you plan on doing that...? Quite frankly, it's mostly pointless. The posts from the past probably have information that might now be inaccurate, or out of date. In a way, it's kind of like necroposting, or somesuch. Sure, there were probably a few "popular" topics in the past, but IMO, nothing that really stood out in my mind. We were a simple forum, with lots of discussion. Now with said discussion gone, it's time to look to the future, and not dwell in the past. Sure, if you do think of a post that has merit for discussion on the forums, by all means, make it. But it's really no different than anyone posting a new topic. Especially with new members and such.
  16. Hard to say, considering they are based on a trilogy of books by Robert Ludlum ( now deceased)... I doubt it. There are a couple more "Bourne" books done by another writer... but I believe they are based before the end of the final book, and I highly doubt they would be made into a movie considering only the trilogy by Ludlum is considered noteworthy.
  17. Yeah, they do take a lot of getting used to. Hell I'm still much better with pencil and inking before scanning and then CGing with my tablet. Granted I have been lazy with art for quite a while... The biggest change I find, is having to look at your monitor when drawing... when instinctively you want to look at the tip of your pen instead, like you would do when you draw with a pencil. It's like relearning how to write all over again.
  18. My tablet is currently a 4x5 inch Wacom Graphire 3... but I'll be upgrading to a bigger size pretty soon. But I have used this size of tablet for the last...5 or 6 years, and it's never failed me. I'm only upgrading because I am now trying to get serious with my art. For art programs though... I normally use Photoshop 7 to color... but if I am looking to sketch digitally with my tablet I will go into a paintchat or use an older version of Open Canvas. For a basic human body, in many ways, yes, just made of simple shapes. Although I have evolved past using the crude shapes, and have simplified it over the years due to practice. As for a sample, I don't have anything on hand right now... most of my stuff is still packed ( just moved).
  19. Well, the Guyver proportions aren't too big a deal if you can draw a basic human outline. It's usually best to start with a basic, undetailed human form, and then add armor from there. If you're having problems with that step however, there are plenty of anatomy resources on the net. Plus it ALWAYS helps to have a simple Guyver resource pic available to give yourself an idea of what needs to be done. If you look at any manga artists desk ( including Takaya's from a few shots in the VDF book), they keep pics of their characters close for reference. Sully actually skips an important step that I mentioned above. The drawing of a body. The FIRST thing he does when he starts a pic is finds a suitable base to put armor on. He uses the vast resources of the internet to find a picture of a person/character to use. Sometimes he finds the perfect character pose... and other times he'll mix some different body parts to make the pose he wants. This is why some times his characters have different proportions than the "norm" See, not to sound like I am picking on him, since he'd confirm it himself... Sully cannot draw traditionally like I do. He can Cg the hell out of things though ( much better than myself). Which is why you see a lot of collaberation work between him and myself. And as far as I know... he has always used a mouse. I think I'm the only one with a tablet here.
  20. Kinda late in saying so ( it's been a hectic 2 weeks), but I will be attending Otakon 2007 in Baltimore this year. In which I will be stalking EvilFx and his Guyver costume while he is there too But mainly, I will be sitting in the Artists Alley with a few other ( better than me at most things) artists. I won't have any prints to sell, but I will be doing sketches ect... as well as just geeking out with fans of my other works as well. http://www.richard-kim.com/Otakon/AA07Map.JPG Our tables are way back at E 12-13. If you're in the area and attending the con, please stop by and say hi.
  21. If it was just changing colors, it's pretty simple for phpBB... we shall see...
  22. More likely volume 7 will have the final booklet. It would fit more in their current trend. ie vol 1 being the start, and vol 4 being the middle.
  23. Personally, I always liked Dues, even if the artwork for it is rather crude.
  24. Yep, it's very possible that they could. Up to this point, he hasn't fought anyone who could possibly steal it off of him.
  25. Well, you aint seen nothin' yet! Here's a buncha pics that I have that some were random drawings, and others were "failed" pics that never made the cut. So prepare yourselves, for the crap of crapola... and if you think they're good... wonder how insane we were to not use them at all ( which is probably most likely). Each pic will have a note beside it, as to why it wasn't used. Rejected - Was drawn, and was rejected by other staff members Unused - A pic drawn on a whim. Could still possibly be used Warrior Alkanphel Test pic (rejected) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... kwg001.jpg A female Warrior Guyver (unused) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ewg001.jpg Another female Warrior Guyver (unused) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ewg002.jpg A third female Warrior Guyver (unused) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ewg003.jpg A Guyver using the Grakken Destroyer armor (rejected) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ver001.jpg A male Guyver (unused) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ver001.jpg Another male Guyver (rejected) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ver002.jpg A third male Guyver (rejected) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ver003.jpg A forth male Guyver (unused) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ver004.jpg A rather... large male Guyver (refused) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ver005.jpg An old upgrade idea for Proto-Guyver. (Rejected) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... ver002.jpg A different Aceaer design (rejected) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... aceaer.jpg Prototype picture of Zagam. Pretty much nailed it, but Brian wanted a slightly different pose. (rejected) http://guyverc.homestead.com/files/guyv ... gam001.jpg Crazy huh? And I still have a lot that has to be shown in the fics before we can show off the pictures.
