oh my god, it's a Lisker back story!! Robert P. Lisker? Did i read that right?

and that young man walking down the stairs Oswald? young Lisker?? This is great!!

Surprisingly tame chapter of Guyver this month but super interesting

Yes, it is sweet, but it's not so sweet if you realize he is going to join a super-secret organization and will do so well he'll be on the nomination to be a gruesome shapeshifting monster designed only for killing, and then ends up becoming an even more deadly monster that shouldn't even exist, before dying a horrible gruesome death at the hands of another such monster! And she's gonna go down the same road.

Funny how you could slip this chapter into at least a dozen normal romance manga. Yes, indeed, you could go several different directions. Romance? Comedy? Drama? ...Hentai?

Anyway... seems mr. Risker was an Old South plantation type of guy. Which is weird, since he was, what, mid-thirties or so a few months before M-day, which was in the 1990s.

On the other hand: the mansion seems to be in New York. Oh, the suburbs of New York.

...

Does New York even have suburbs?

...

I'm gonna say that's Greenwich, Connecticut.

That house would not look out of place there.

Old money from the South who moved to the North when you weren't allowed to keep slaves anymore. Either that or this guy's family is the exact opposite - extremely straight-laced industrialists or something - and he just likes that kind of architecture.

The guy is a United States senator and is a very influencial person in the political circle, also a member of Cronos.  Interesting.  So Cronos already have roots in the government that early.

So.... Oswald was the son if a senator who was already a member of chronus, so Oswald followed in his dads foot steps and also joined chronus. And val is his...step sister?

i would say correct!

Hmmm well my first reaction to seeing lil Val and her mother was, "cutie! :) " then I was like "wait, Val has a daughter? O.o " seriously they look so alike. :D

Anyway, yeah this was a very um tranquil chapter but I like it cause lil Val is so cute and I like that there is backstory that isn't retelling the origin of the Guyver again.  Plus it's pretty cool to see what I presume to be a multi-generational family of Chronos members, at least that's what I got from the shot of all the past Liskers and it sort of makes sense that Chronos would have whole bloodlines of people in their ranks.

Kinda refreshing seeing a backstory not related to the Advents or the Guyvers.  Rather surprising Mr. Takaya has paid so much attention to details like this.

As for the mansion, since Lisker's dad was a Senator and comes from a wealthy family, I'm not surprised it's a plantation styled home.  I guess we can rule out most of the east coast of North America as for where Lisker came from.  Maybe west or southwest where most American plantations were located?

The house too me seems very East coast, maybe even south. I'm pretty sure when the term plantation is used in the States it is typically pictured in the south. A lot of the south west was used more for cattle but that's not to say there were zero plantations there.

i didn't want to say it too soon until the translation, but if that one drawing is of his past family, then i would say that takaya sensei is trying to tell us that not only was liskers father a member of cronos, but his grandfather and fathers' before them.

Not that surprising considering Zoalords were being recruited hundreds of years ago.

The text says it's a 'suburb of New York'. I propose that it's Greenwich, Connecticut.

Strangely good story to see such detail given to a character that died so long ago in the story :) Great work by Takaya.

Yeah, Takaya did mention that he regretted killing Lisker off so soon which is why he got a bit more face time in Guyver: The Bio-Boosted Armor.  Makes you wonder how close Lisker and Val became.  I mean did they become the best of siblings or perhaps something more?

I don't think this is that sort of comic... ^^;

We don't actually know their relationship yet. Not until.. the translation.

The Japanese view of Americans is as idiosyncratic as the western view of the Japanese...
