durendal Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Steins;Gate looks interesting. Got really curious as this is a top rated show next to Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan). Although there is no flashy graphics or mind blowing special effects, the story itself is interesting. It revolves heavily on the urban legend of John Titor, who claims to be a time traveler. It is rare that the story alone keeps me hooked on the series. Quote
Cannibal Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Finished Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine Wow! Lupin III is awesome! Need to watch other series. Quote
durendal Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I never really got into Lupin III. I know it's good, but I guess I don't have any incentive to watch the show. Especially that it's an old series. Also, I'm now regretting that I've read spoilers for steins;gate. Spoilers never really bothered me, but based on the pacing of the show, it seems like they wanted to surprise the viewers. I'm sure it would have more emotional value should I watched it without reading spoilers. I stopped reading spoilers and I'm already at episode 20, so I don't know what will happen next. Hopefully I won't get disappointed when I finally finish the series. But I have to say, the concept is very appealing to me. Quote

Matt Bellamy Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Let's see... actually watched/watching a few this year. The number of mecha series was definitely up from previous years. Watching: Argevollen M3 Captain Earth Aldnoah.Zero Sword Art Online 2 Majin Bone Finished: Gundam Build Fighters ( second season coming! Wooo!) Kenzen Robo Daimidaler Nobunaga The Fool Gundam Unicorn There is one other mecha show this season... Knights of Sidonia... But after reading a bit of the manga, I wasn't liking it much... But then they chose the horrible animation style and that sealed the deal there. Quote
durendal Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Obviously watching SAO II. Although I already know what's going to happen, it's still refreshing to see the story with my own eyes rather than using my imagination. Also watching Blade and Soul. Despite being adapted from a game, the story is quite excellent. Quote

durendal Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Ending of Blade and Soul. It's somewhat mesmerizing. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 haven't watched any anime in ages so I'm really glad this thread is still going and I can read your posts for advice. Only anime I've currently sort of got on is naruto, but of course fillers. so no good. I'll have to see if they have got past the next batch of fillers yet. I want to have a look at some trailers for that steins:gate. if it has an intriguing story then it's worth taking a look at. I did try watching shingeki no kyojin in the past but it is horrific. I don't like horror things. it's somewhat like FMA. really nasty stuff and a really dank bleak atmosphere. I want something happy and positive like recent kamen rider and like naruto and like dragonball and like ... i dunno i forgot. Quote
*Chernaudi Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I did check out Ray the Animation recently on a whim. Pretty fascinating if you're into medical stuff and stories involving mafia-like organizations and the black market. It revolves around a woman named Rei (also called Ray, the reason why will come in a moment) who when she was young had her eyes harvested by a criminal syndicate run black market organ supply program. Rei's eyesight is restored by Black Jack (yes, Black Jack from Black Jack 21), which gives Rei the ability to use X-Ray like vision (hence her nickname). She decides to become a medical doctor and she's used on very strange cases where her abilities allow her to things other doctors can't. Also, a lot of the medical stuff can be scary, and can be downright drenched in narmy funniness. But Rei also peruses those who took her original eyes an also seeks out the children she was raised with to find out their fates. Also, keen--and not so keen to be honest since this becomes obvious when you look at Rei's character design--observers might seem some obvious resemblances to Rei and Shizu from Bio-Booster Armor Guyver. Most of this is coincidence (how many attractive young women with long dark hair and similar bodily and facial features are there in manga and anime?), but it's worth noting that OLM produced both Guyver: The Bio-Boosted Armor and Ray the Animation, and hence similar animation styles. I sounded interesting and I liked what I saw of it, and like Guyver the story is very interesting Quote
*guyverfan Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 just finished watching steinsgate, it gets interesting after the first few episodes, so i'm glad i stuck to it 'till the end. thank christ someone decided to english dubb it 'cause there was no way i was able to keep up with the subtitles. currently watching sao2, 4 episodes in at the moment. Cannibal Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Finally watching famous Dragon Ball Z series (Japanese version) and love it. Dudes blowing up planets and then can't even hold a falling minivan properly - that's fun to watch He has over 8000 power level? Wow! But a few episodes after you will met a Frieza with over 500 000! And that' just in his relaxed form. After long battle with final form Frieza you meet even more powerful form of Frieza + his father, who is even more powerful, but some unknown NEW character kill them both in seconds. I had no time to remember Frieza's father name, he was killed too fast. Now on 125 ep. 2 Quote
*Biggabertha Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 King Cold! Interestingly enough, in both the Japanese and Cantonese versions of Dragon Ball Z, the famous English scene where Goku's power level as measured by Vegeta is "OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAND!" is actually only eight thousand! Been meaning to get back to watching anime - hard to watch anime when you play a videogame though - subtitles are hard to read when you have a dual screen set up so devoting time out in the day to (binge) watch is a little trickier for those of us who haven't learnt how to manage their time better! I think I'll check out some of the popular stuff... like Bakuman, Sword Art Online and this Attack on Titan. Still have tons to get through (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Clannad, Seikon no Qwaser...) Eagerly waiting for Evangelion 4.0 but 2015!! Nuuu!! 1 Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 yeah, I know what you're saying about split attention. I devote a bit of time before i go to bed, to watch a movie or a tv show or anime. other times, I have three screens to take my attention.. one is tv, one is main computer, other is extra computer screen for conversations, etc. Quote
Shin Mefilas Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Started watching an anime thats outside my normal spectrum of taste, Hajime no Ippo a boxing anime. I've watched/read fighting anime/manga before Grappler Baki being my favorite but this is the first straight sports anime I've ever watched. So far I'm very impressed. It's a wonderful underdog story with very likeable characters and good action. Edited September 9, 2014 by Satanus Quote
RazorLaser Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Rewatched Cowboy Bebop recently. Still as good as I remember it. Watched The Castle of Cagliostro for the 38539589385th time two nights ago. One of my favourite films of all time. Quote
Salkafar Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Anyone know 'Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt'? It's pretty unique... Quote

*PrimalNemesis Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Currently I am waiting to watch Tokyo Ghoul. Been a while since I saw a good horror series. Quote
LordSpleach Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 In the middle of rewatching Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Definitely makes me think of how the world is now, and the possible solutions to fix it. I also love the Gundam Exia! Quote
Aether Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 nearly at the end of Dragonball Kai... just on Goku vs.Cell yeah its good to miss out the filler but I think too much has gone, some parts feel too rushed and its all over so soon!! I also prefer the older music that seemed to be gone from the first half of the series. Quote
