  1. I can see what you are saying about environment. So you disagree with what this guy was pointing out in the video? You say that our genetics can program us for something, but you are not allowing any variation in the code. Your position suggests that everyone is exactly the same, as if from a cookie cutter. The odds of my fingerprints being exactly like yours are not good, and it's not all life experience. I can agree with you to a point that experience makes you the person you are, but then so does the construction of your body. Homosexual Science research shows (from the video): -37% genetically programed for same sex -63% environmental factors (not upbringing, but chemical or hormonal influences during embryonic development-called neurohormonal or neuroendocrynal) Science is pointing out that there is more than one cause, and is understanding it on a mechanical level Should we maintain our position on NO CURE for all causes? Or prevention during pregnancy? (not prevention via abortion, but hormone and such regulation). You know someone will eventually suggest it; what do you think
  2. You are watching people to form your opinion. Scientists are pooling resources to watch people. Like th video said, they have a much better sample size. And their work must be peer reviewed. Interesting contradiction you made about genetics though. I agree, we should NOT be trying to 'cure' people. But as we understand why this is biologically happening, some people will suggest it. That's why I want to explore it. Ignorance leads to suffering. Let us talk and make everyone smarter (which includes what actual research tells us). After all, how many religions have been formed because people just sat around and picked answers they 'felt' were correct?
  3. Two last points, Scotty DID take the perspective of space moving. Just old Scotty, not young Scotty. It was Mr Scott's equation that old Spock was using, and passing on to young Scott. Experience, it makes a difference. And two, I almost cried in the begining of that movie. the death scene. So many death scenes have been wasted in Startrek. So many make me feel nothing if not left down. If he can bring that kind of sadness to Fumio's death, I'd be a happy man. Hell, Murikami's, or anyones! Spock and Kirk and fought before, but to give Spock the weakness of his mother, and to fight over that, imagine what perspective he would take when Sho decides to protect Mitsuki. One of my favorite episodes of the 2005 series was near the end, when the humans were in hiding while Chronos ruled the world. You could see that everyone in the house was developing cabin fever. To see Shizu slowly knitting her sweater, then finally lose it in the end was great drama. I love seeing that kind of drama. That is why I will defend Abrams. There is a CHANCE that he could do it justice. On the other hand, he could screw it up completely. Either way Now who wants to talk about what Ewe Boll would do to it? A man that couldn't care about the quality of the movie for nothing
  4. What gets me is that Trek has had a huge problem with continuity under Berman and Steinberg. The Enterprise series especially, where they only loosely listened to anything that was established about that time period (ie, using lasers, no subspace radio only regular radio, magnetic boots due to no grav plating, Horizon class starships). They basically got stuck telling the same story techniques from Voyager, even had yet another Hologram episode. What moral are they saying about holograms that they havn't said before? If you want a point to Abrams, just take a look at 'established' recent history of the US. A nongovernment terrorist took over a nonweapon item (a plane) and used it to destroy a major US icon (the world trade towers). A dirty minor from Romulous, a world known for non-freedom regimes, uses a mining ship to destroy a major Federation icon (planet Vulcan). This movie reflects what is going on in the general culture of America right now. It is effectively a mirror of how they want to feel. They want to be empowered to take on such perceived evil. Oh, and Abrams is a star trek fan that doesn't know star wars. Orci and Kurtzman are the star wars fans that don't know star trek. This is a merger. The ship still has warp engines, the bridge is still round, and the uniforms are at least the same. I don't like Insurrection. Sure, it had that thing about dislocating people from their homes, but that was played out so weak. Instead of making a very good point about it, they sent everyone on a love escapade and cracked stupid jokes. It was lame. To make it seem scifi, they forced in a thing where these aliens can percieve time in slow motion, and Picards love interest (because he's an action hero in the movies) can actually teach it to him. Lame. Here's an idea, throw some mud on the walls of the village to show that these aliens actually have to work. Make them a planet of a few million, and open it with Data firing phasers, just as before. If you're going to have some plastic surgery, show some blood, otherwise toss the stretched skin idea from the script. Force the Enterprise to take on a few Starfleet ships as well, so that it's a true no questions asked Insurrection. Make some of the aliens really angry that they are being forced to leave the world, but make it confusing because others are perfectly fine with what's happening. Something funky is happening on the planet, to help Picard drive home is preachy speach, these aliens actually live 4th dimensionally-it only seems like there's millions, but it's only a few hundred living the same days over and over again, which is why they are weird.
  5. with the notoriety of Guyver, Uwe Boll is unfortunetly what Guyver is likely to get. realisticly speaking. I liked the Abrams movie, because he brought FRESH BLOOD to the table. The last few trek movies were getting stale. Trek 6 and First Contact were the only ones that I truly enjoyed and wouldn't change a thing. The others are as bad as trek 5, where it feels like they were ashamed to be making a trek movie, and were trying to reach a wider audience, all the while doing it on a shoestring budget.
  6. but I don't want to marry gay, I've already got a wife. hehe Kidding aside, I'm surprised that we have someone putting out what the scientific RESEARCH has shown (32% genetics 60% something something) as the cause for lgbt, and people are still speculating in their own minds as if it is a complete mystery. Interesting, another video was pointing out that scientific research gets better and better, but the common man is further and further removed from it. No one here is talking about hormones during pregnancy, and if we should be 'trying' to control and prevent this, or simply let the chips land where they may.
  7. I just can't get over how much rust is on that car! wow?!
  8. Now that I have your attention, let's see whom wants to weigh in on this video:
  9. Was force fed this by my stepdad. Lost interest fast. Bad acting and fake fighting. If the fighting is fake, then I want extreme drama like in a movie. If the fighting is real, then I want the bad acting completely out of it. And so much of what I've seen in wrestling entertainment is in poor taste. Now pride fighting, octogon, or K1, that's more like it
  10. Someone has an interesting interpretation of Prometheus: Basically he thinks the planet was an experiment by the humans, whom developed time travel and inadvertantly changed history so many times that they changed evolution. We are the engineers, and the only way to close the time loop was to commit suicide.
  11. The Eva's had hardware armor (I believe to restrain the Angel as well as weaponize it). They required electricity for the armor, and had human pilots (with a neural interface) to control the monsters. Evangelian: -started using aircraft carriers to transport Evas -featured a military organization made up of people from around the world -the plot is post apocalyptic, the robots are defending from a second wave of the invasion, trying to prevent 'second impact' -The invaders have a religious connotation (Del Toro likes HP Lovecraft mythology, in which the gods are asleep under the sea, and will awaken to devour humanity) My guess is that the Asian girl in the combat training (?) is this version of Rei Ayanami. Just a guess "Two pilots entering neural bridge" To fight monsters, we created monsters
  12. Ryuki, there are other theories about the pressure canon. The Balcus data video to the Arizona scientists/Shin had them suggesting that a wormhole or something was involved. A singularity of some kind was already involved on the regular guyver level, and not just the Gigantic. Our prior conversations left many options open Such as perhaps the pressure canon is a temporarily unstable wormhole that links to the pressure of the Boost dimension. Or that the pressure canon is much like the quasi black hole, in which the gravity compressor (wrist pad) creates a gravitational wave pattern to attract all that mass, and then directs it to the target-pretty much what you said, but more technical
  13. It's basically an American NeoGenesis Evangelion. ADV gave a treatment out to all the studios to suggest how to do it, and Guillamero Deltorro did his take on it.

  15. You still havn't seen it? Interesting. Yes, I definitely agree with you Krucifer on character development, and actual story telling. Whole heartedly. But on the flip side, I hate when adaptations just start changing things willy nilly. What then is the point of doing a movie of it? Is Spiderman just a name, costume, and powers that can be applied to any story? Or do certain things have to happen in that legend? Gwen's death was tragic, but Peter eventually did move on. And he was married, and for a time that was the only thing in his life that he had going for him. When Todd McFarlane had him, he gave Peter and MJ a happy marriage (with elements from Todd's own marriage) to show that life doesn't have to suck completely. There was happiness in there for him. Complete with piggy back rides, and silly fun of a couple that could love each other.
  16. But Gwen HAS to die. She died in the comics, she should die at some point here. That is one more lesson in Peter's life. She is his first love. You never forget your first, but in real life the first doesn't always last. I have no problem with him finding MJ later on, just so long as the actress doesn't look stoned while playing her
  17. The armor can completely regenerate from just a few cells, so it can basically take a lot of damage. A lot. A really really lot. For speed? He appears to be a blur on the ground, but only floats/hovers when in air. Unless it's gone Gigantic, then it has jets to amp up the speed. Did anyone notice any sonic booms during those speed bursts? The Gigantic pod also uses hyperspace(boost dimension) to travel from one point on Earth to another, which makes sense considering it is made from a space ship. And for power output? What was the megasmashers power output again? Ryuki quoted a number just a short while ago. Completely burning people past the point of ash is pretty powerful enough. Until you go Gigantic and can do it even better by having a gravity controller in the center, siphoning energy directly into the system. Extreme, but fun. And then you can Exceed this
  18. And now.... Thorium Reactors!
  19. I grew up in my home town. It was filled with rednecks, and I always felt like an outcast. I had wanted to move for at least a little while for such a long time. I knew I wanted to film, and could do that anywhere, but still. Then a voice director told me there were 4 places in N America to do animation. So I went to Vancouver. The film and gaming industry is huge here. And I fit in as an artist. The competition is huge though, and the odds of making it are 1 in 5000. But I am no longer an outcast. I had a few core friends in my hometown that I deeply miss. Those that I would watch movies with, and share experiences. I want to take them with me, and I really want to visit them. The few visits I've had always seemed rushed. I do fit into my new town, but it sure is expensive. And I can blatantly see the corruption in the politics (which in turn explains some of the expense). There is always a down side. The plus side is that this is where I met my wife, and this is where we are raising our son. I am showing him things that I would never be able to back home (this summer I'm taking him to the aquarium). I'll go back home one day, but for now this is my home. This is something I need to do with my life. And besides, NO SNOW! (hehe)
  20. What can I say, the man makes great videos. How many times has scifi shown us the interior of a nuclear reactor? Since we deal with a lot of scifi on this board, this should be interesting to many: I'm amazed at how messy it is. It reminds me of a couple of other places I've worked.
  21. Ep 1- how does a begining 'start' with back story narative? Shouldn't the opening title roll have been "Long long ago and far far away" and been left at that? And Anakin looked a little too happy go lucky for me, considering he'll become the badest man in black in the galaxy. Ep 2-Padame marries Anakin because he says he loves her while staring at her boobs? He looks like a creepy stalker. Weird marriage choice. He's so whiny. Ep 3-Droids cry out in cartoon like pain. General Grevious comes out of nowhere. Anakin goes over to the dark side almost whimsically. And Padame dies because 'shes lost the will to live' after just giving birth to twins. And this doesn't even cover the story line contradictions with Eps 4, 5, and 6. How bad could they possibly make Ep 7?
  22. Control metals seem to work together and share information, but fight off invading bio material. And I think it is safe to say that the unit-G does NOT boost every host by 100 times. If a host is human, it is 100 times, based on the output of the tools and weapons it is capable of equipping the host with. Other species should be increased by different degrees. This is a more logical and mechanical conclusion. This is not a card game, the unit is not a multiplyer. This is backed up by the creators being a little surprised at 'how much' the human power was increased with Guyver 0.
  23. if the Enzyme is in the blood, why would the location of the organ matter when cutting off arms?
  24. Yeah, I was a bit disappointed in that one. Not as much stuff to learn. It seemed more of a gripe episode. But at least we learned that proteins fold for different functions
  25. Um, anyone working in something that big and dangerous should have extensive training. Just handling a class A 3000KW water tube boiler, along with two independent 1000KW fire tubes sends you into various safety classes once every six weeks. In space, if you screw up, you die. What company would send screw ups on a mission that expensive? You argued they wanted the best, and the best can't remember and follow their training? Sorry, I have to give in to the logic of the group on that one. A flaw is a flaw. Perhaps Mr Scott is just giving in to the formula of the horror genre? Who knows. Oh well. So few movies are perfect, no biggie
