  1. Regular zombies should be dead every time, as they are simple head shot losses. Lickers might be on par. The bigger bads might be on Hyper zoanoid level.
  2. I'm hopeing the big bad is Grand admiral Thrawn. I just loved the 'art of war' style that he used. How he would observe the art of a culture in order to understand them before employing an elaberate strategy in order to bring them down. I just loved his whole elaberate plot, with a touch of elegance to his personality. He doesn't need a cliche UK accent in order to pull off his gentlemen demeanor. I would really like to see him in action
  3. if there indeed was nothingness before the universe, then there should be no problem with nothingness afterwards. It would be an equalibreum, a returning to an original state perhaps. Existance being a chaotic bubble on an ocean of calm. A dream in the middle of a quiet night. Does that sooth your soul a little?
  4. Yes. It's amazing how much plastic we've actually thrown into the ocean. http://axisoflogic.com/artman/publish/Article_58030.shtml It's not just the birds being subjected to the plastic.
  5. Sorry Durendal. I meant no disrespect to the Chinese. My wife is Chinese. She was the one translating these experiences for me. Most of this happened in Shanghai (loved the scifi archetecture), but nothing really in Beijing.
  6. I don't think I need to tell you this, but what out for the girls. I don't know if Korea is similar, but when I was in China, the girls wouldn't leave me alone. My family went out for dinner... my wife was in the dining room, and I took my son down to see the fish tank. The waitress' gathered around, telling me that one of them was... interested. The audacity! Then there was the girl on the boat. And the prostitute on the street of lights that night (I think she was a prostitute, not sure, she kept following me and asking me to relax). My wife pointed out that country girls like foreign boys as a ticket out, as their life in the city limits them to kitchen staff. Don't know if that will apply to you
  7. This is sounding better. Mr Hammil wants to bring some of the old magic back. That brings hope
  8. That's not a nest. That's a corpse. The plastic was in the belly, forcing it to starve to death as there was no more room for food. The plastic would not pass through. The surrounding material is feather and bone. 2000 Km from human contact. This is the garbage we throw in our oceans
  9. This video shows birds in the wild, on an island 2000Km away from mainland. It's interesting. An eye opener. I never would have expected to find this. <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=489518334448906" width="1280" height="720" frameborder="0"></iframe>
  10. Can I use your version of that fish quote? I really like it
  11. Day care is baby sitting for parents who work. At age 5, you have Kindergarden, which basically makes sure you know your colors and can play with the other kids. That's maybe half a day, and gets you used to the schedule system. Grades 1-6 are basic education, literacy, math, and general world knowledge. This is Elementary school Grades 7-9 Are Junior High School/Secendary school. An inbetween. Prepubecence. Grades 10-12 are High School. It teaches you what you need to know to enter the work force as a common drone, and prepare you for further education College is practical higher education. It focuses on experience education. It's great for nurses and engineers, city workers, draftsmen. Anything that requires actual job training. Even buisiness managment. University is paperwork higher education. It focuses on philosophy and book reading, and adding alphabet soups to your name.
  12. I laughed. On the radio Monday they had a guy from NASA reminding us that the asteroid wouldn't hit on Friday, but we need more money to watch these things better because 'we live in a cosmic shooting gallery'. He said we'd eventually get hit. Never mentioned anything about Thursday though
  13. at least they're honest
  14. It basically says that there are similarities between Mayan and Egyptian pyramids, paintings and etchings that look like astronaut/robot suits, flying vehicles, skulls that have been intentionally deformed as if to mimic 'grey' type aliens, and other interesting artifacts from ancient archeology.
  15. I believe it is the literalists. They want the word of god to be literally true, word for word. Though the evidence has mounted up to such a degree, that some of the young Earth creationists have even adopted it, but call it by another name so they can still keep 'man' separate from evolution. Egotism I think. Some of us must view ourselves superior in some fashion, even down to our origins. Pathetic I think
  16. It's because he was a mask. It was a mystery. When they did the clones, you could see his plain, regular face. Everything that made him interesting and mysterious died a lame death.
  17. The problem in waiting for all the answers is that we will never get -all- the answers. It's a BIG universe, and there is always more to study. Better to form an opinion with what you have, as we will never be a god. That way we can at least build sky scrapers, cure a few sick people, and maybe start on that moon colony.
  18. Stephen Hawking originally thought that time would move backwards during the crunch, but had to agree with one of his students that it would not. Although gravity is pulling the Universe inward, any lateral movement maintains it's original momentum. So time still moves forward, despite the effects of time dialation due to the energy states of the spatial fabric in highly intense gravitational areas (time slows down around a singularity, it would slow down during the dense period of the crush for those experiencing it. But no reversal)
  19. I agree that we should not treat the 'word of science' as gospel. My problem is that there are SO many rednecks out there now touting a 'scientific theory' that falls flat on it's ass if even an iota of math/chemistry or experimentation is applied to it. Real scientists are supposed to test their own ideas through these meens BEFORE submitting it to the public realm, before pear review. That Hyena thing is a perfect example though. It is evidence telling us what it is, and not just 'opinion'. Not just wild speculation and imagination, but a strategy was put together to test and determine. Creativity was there, in formulating the strategy and guidlines for the classification and such.
  20. The prediction of the end is based on the results of the time. Science is always ongoing. It would take a million eons of know everything in order to make a final conclusion on the matter. That is why we 'make predictions based on what we already know'. They set up the gravitational frame work for detemining whether a big crunch or freeze. Then they measured the density. Anything 'funky' like Black holes going super attractive or Dark matter boundaries going beyond their galaxy would have to really go screwing to worry about AT THIS POINT. In other words, from what we've seen, we don't need to worry about them for this prediction, but the research on those is still underway as well. So IT LOOKS LIKE heat death, but that's not to worry anyway, because you will be dead looooong before the Universe is. Still, if there is a big Crunch instead, there is an idea in string theory that the Universe can Bounce back and make another big bang out of it. The catch is that every particle/string must be compressed in the singularity in order to attain the energy to make the bounce. We die to give birth to a new universe. A poetry to it
  21. Strangley enough, (since the Judeo Christain Muslim faiths share the same source) it was when Isreal was taking into Babylonian captivity that the bible was first written down. And also went into a few revisions. Deuteronomists added some of the rules, saying to worship only Yahweh. They believed only th god of their temple should be worshipped, and used Babylon as evidence. Afterwards, in Ezekial's time it was altered even further, such as taking Leviathan out of Genesis-God didn't have to battle and defeat anyone in order to create the world. A peaceful creation, unique among other religions. These Religions ignore that their own accounts have changed over time, and not just by translation. What is interesting also, is that writing a religion down usually makes the student take the words literally. During any Axial age, the most spiritual in a religions history, the 'doctorine' is not literal but rather used to push the person inward for an experience. These followers of god are missing out on the spiritual component in order to attain a historical reward. Strangly enough, I thought we'd talk at least a little about evolution in this topic. Oh well
  22. A cool show from the BBC: What do you think?
  23. I don't mind cg, but Lucas was jus t killing ep 1-3. He aimed it at kids, while 4-6 was open to all generations. I am open to Abrams directing StarWars. Sure, he put lens flares in Startrek. So what? He also kept their original uniform and only added a bit of texture to it. The deflector on the ship was also still gold. And Checkov still spoke with a thick Russian accent. If the SCRIPT is good, I'm sure JJ will do a good job. Let us remember that the treatment for this movie was approved by Lucas, and is being written by someone else. Mr Abrams has limited control over what he can do here already
  24. I really like what you are saying Ryuki. Problem is, people are ALREADY stepping on the toes of freedom. They've been doing it since the dawn of time. In the name of spirituality even, as an excuse. So these are questions that we should have clear cut answers for in order to make a retort for those that would take the freedom from us. Exploring it now is a very damn good idea as far as I'm concerned. For instance, there's a country in South America that has not only made being gay illegal (like so many other countries), but it is a martial offence. Your sexual prefrence may get you executed. Granted, people protested, and it was merely commuted to life imprisonment. Is this what we allow 'spirituality' to get away with? Someone has to simply claim 'god' gave an edict, and we allow them full power over our own lives? For what? As far as i'm concerned, if someone is genetically gay, or a mother's hormones naturally tweak the baby that way, then it is fine and we shouldn't interfere. If there is some chemical pollution, or food additive that is going astray, then maybe clean it up (cure the patient if possible), and try to regulate it in our foods like we do caffeine and nicotine. But in no way to I think we should have any regulation or restrictions on gay/lesbian/whatever human relationships.
  25. The video explained the sample and culture. I think they had 3000 twins for the study (I'd recheck the video to be sure, I glossed over the big number to try and get the chemical names and I'm a bit tired now (awake for 17 hr with only 3 hr sleep). When it comes to chemical based studies such as genetics and hormones, It almost sounds like you are grouping them in the same league as 'questionaires'. I trust genetics and blood tests more than peoples answers about their own sexuality. And true, the actual number of genetically homosexual within the ENTIRE human population is different from the sample size, just as it is different from generation to generation. A larger sample size is always a more accurate representation of the truth, and 3000 is pretty nice compared to what most people have access to. I think it gives us a good place to set the benchmark for now. Out of curiosity, how do you feel about women who take huge doses of cocaine during pregnancy? Do those drugs not affect the fetus? Would you cure that child by having the mother avoid those drugs if you could? Or would you let the child grow with the resulting illnesses and decide at a later date how to deal with the stresses? Speaking of stress, mothers stressed out during pregnancy (such as in abusive or violent situations) usually give birth to children prone to addictions due to (which was it? cordosol? I'm very tired right now). How about fetal alcohol syndrome, where a mother whom drinks too much during pregnancy can result in deformations during development (my foster brother had a brain with chunks missing, akin to swiss cheese; because that's what was forming while she was drinking). Is it even possible to 'cure' that after the fact? And no, he was not resilient enough to compensate for that much damage. Many FAS people end up in prison because they can't adhere to rules, and they impulsively do whatever they're told as anyone with a smile is their friend (hanging with the wrong crowd). So to me, I'd like to know what's causing the hormone and chemical influences before I say we ban ALL treatment. If the mother naturally produces those hormones, then no treatment. If homo/bisexuality is genetic in nature, then no treatment. But if there is an external factor causing the hormone/chemical influence, then look into treatment. I'd like more information before making a blanket statement. What about everyone else? Surely the opinion of others matter. This can't just be between Ryuki and myself
