All this just came from one person, and I got this mainly because I specified that I wanted them. This was a company exchange gift where you randomly pick who you will give a gift and specify in your wish list what you want and the gift you give should be a minimum of $6. *phew* That was long. All the other gifts that I recieved were either clothes or food. Mostly food. Pokemon. That's something that didn't appeal to me much. Sure, I tried the game, watched the show. But nothing. After all this time, you have to wonder why Pikachu won't evolve into Raichu. Pikachu is like a level 99 noob. And by the way, I'm 8 hours ahead of you guys (GMT that is). And based on the time of BK's post, I'm 13 hours ahead of him. When you guys are counting down to the new year, it's already 2011 here. Quote
Larz Zahn Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 news update. today a friend gave me a tv. its huge, like 40 inch and weighs over 300 pounds. not exagerating here either. how you ask? well, the tv is an old square tube set. not a flat or wide screen. a true dinosaur relic. and the picture is surprisingly great. now, i have only one qualm... for some reason, the screen will brighten or darken depending on what is being viewed. its slightly frequent, even more so if there is any lettering on screen like sub titles or credits. changing of the source of light in the movie will also trigger a brighten or darken change. i compensated by making the screen brighter so whatever is causing this isnt as sensitive as before, although at times it'll still do it. but this is not a big problem, i often forget its there unless its in a slow part or i get bored. im more confused and intrigued by this than aggiated. now what aggiates me is my dvd/surround sound combo. its a walmart cheep setup. i knew better than to try to use it but i did it anyway. the extra inputs are horrible, the color and sound are both distorted. the actual surround sound volume is not loud at all. at max levels, a person can talk louder than it by barely speaking above the normal inside voice. and the final crushing blow... the dvd player will always, ALWAYS, stall out during a movie. if it'll even play it blasted disc at all. and its not just this indivdual player. this is the third player of the same make an model that i tried. same results. other than that, i had a great day!!! So I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day, as usual I spent mine alone but I've grown used to it. Its easter I like cause then I can cet those awesome chocolate rabbits. But anyhoo so I've been in a 3D character animation class this month and on paper it sounds like a great class. By using a character model you explore staging, proper movement of characters, how characters interact with objects, how characterizing a character and establishing a backstroy can enhance animation and ect. But really, the class just sucks; its sucks real bad. I'm very VERY dissapointed, I was looking forward to this one but my professor has absolutely no life to her. She just goes on and on and on and on and on- GAHHH! And its not like she even goes over anything productive! I mean we've already had 3 animation courses prior to this and she spend 2 days going over what a line of action is; I mean come on! If you don't know what a line of action is by now then you shouldn't be this far in the program. (At least IMO) I've been told "you're supposed to review previous concepts and apply them in practice with more complex animations to create a stronger piece all together-" Don't give me the beauricratic answer. If my classes are all one month long each, then we should be learning something new everyday. I mean we don't go over things like the maya graph editor, the different tangent types, the dope sheet...(I don't want to learn any of them but you see my point) Well its going to be over soon. Then we have lady news. I've been talking to a really cute and cool girl however she keeps postponing our date. We were supposed to have one last weekend but now its been pushed to this weekend due to lady reasons. Quote

I mean she's a great pal, and we were meant to meet up for dinner before Christmas, then New Year and then a few weeks back, but I'm not bothered that we keep missing it. Actually, it worked out in a weird way 'cause the place we were going to is under refurbishment and will re-open in March. As for regarding your course, I had a teacher like that...but then I made a mistake in the course I wanted to do. I was really into animation at the time, but I did pretty bad in my A-Levels and took Internet and Multimedia, which is a very general course despite the heavy emphasis on website design - in all honesty, I took it for the 3rd Year Module on 3D Animation. Not a good thing to do, but I learned a lot from the various courses that made up this degree. But anyway, my teacher, he taught XML and one of my other subjects, while the material was interesting, his voice was this monotonous drone and I spent most of my time asleep in his classes - it didn't help that it was the first one in the morning either and I was tired from waking up early and spending close to an hour in morning traffic (I commuted from home, which was against my wish - parents should NEVER exercise their right to guilt trip you) Lately though, I've come to realise that I did the whole higher education thing too early and now feel that I would have gotten more out of it once I had decided my path in my life - which I still don't know what is, so am working a steady job, volunteering and working on a few personal projects in the hopes that something will click... Also, I took the time to read a few of the earlier posts you made, and dude! BananaKing! My brother studies at Rochester too!...only in England XD He's doing a course in CG Arts and Animation and is really loving it. Quote

It was very short (we're talking only and hour and half) and we felt no romantic vibes from each other. So sadly we've agreed to just stay good friends which I'd rather not have but eh, you've got to move on and not let linger on what can't be. The rising sun brings with it a new day, new adventures, new experiences, and a new world. You can either stand there and watch the day go by, or you can gather yourself together and tackle the new day and embrace the world. I'll do the latter and keep searching...how much longer can it take? Quote

I very often get the same feeling of jealousy. but i only get jealous when i forget that it is my choice. i often forget that i could easily go to a bar in town and pick up some easy tramp. as a human being i get the same 'romantic feelings' and the feeling of loneliness etc as all the other human beings on the planet and it's easy to forget my own choices at some of those times. Oddly i think maybe Redheads after that but thats even more spesific, some have a really nice shade some not so much. I find blonde too genericly rammed down my throat as suposedly the hottest. I think I'm trying to be non conformist by liking it least. But I've always been that way so maybe not. I do feel slightly shallow for my tastes but I also dont think you can control the phenotype you are atracted too. I incedentaly have black hair myself, I'm sure if that has something too do with it aswell. Quote

Though, take 100 hundred of the hot girls and around 70 of them will be taken by guys, another 20 will be into women and the last 10 probably won't even give you the time of day. A lot fo the Florida girls can be really stuck up and materialistic. that and about every 3 out of 5 people between the ages of 15-30 do some type of drug be it dope, crack, pills, etc.... Trust me, nearly all the girls that come into the store I work at during the night are either drunk, high or both...and half of them are under 18! They gettin that drenn from some place bad man.
