  1. Seirei no Moribito is kinda new, sort of. But I have never actually seen it. Rurouni Kenshin on the other hand was really great. Samurai Action about a feared and famous "Man Slayer" that turns out to be a pacifist. It's a great series until after the Kyoto arc which diverged very very far from the manga. I would certainly recommend Rurouni Kenshin but only up until episode 62. Too bad the Jinchuu arc was never animated, and the pitiful excuse of an OVA only showed a few second of that arc. Starting from episode 63, it was an original story which didn't have any character development at all. Never resolved the issue of the characters. Just watch until episode 62 and read the rest in Manga. It's way better, explains a lot of things about the characters history as well as gives closure.
  2. I think the right word we are looking for is "inspired". I mean, great minds have all their ideas come up from something. The Sydney Opera House was inspired from an Orange, so you can't say that the Architect Jorn Utzon copied an orange to design the said structure. There are others that are more obvious than others, but you don't label them as copying.
  3. Whatever the arguments you guys are putting out, at least what these authors are doing are more positively enforced as opposed to the blatant technique administered by Nick Simmons by his Incarnate comics. That, I think, we all agree is blatant plagiarism.
  4. As much as I hate to atmit it, but everything anime are just copies of previous successful series with something new added as to look original. Some were a runaway success, while others was a complete flop. Additionally, it happens that almost all the current popular manga artist (Oda-One Piece, Kishimoto-Naruto, etc) grew up on Dragonball. You might say that they are the one conveying the pleasure to today's generation in which dragonball was to their generation. 5. I'm sure during the time DBZ was airing, fillers were not popular. And the only thing relatively close to fillers are the prolonged battle scenes which are only a few minutes in length would last for multiple episodes. Also, as for Toei animating new episodes, I don't think the popularity of Dragonball now are the same as it was a few years ago. So fans might not react well to the revival of the series. Remember that they have enough problems securing budget for 24 episodes, let alone 100 episodes. And sad to say, the money they made all the years probably went to other projects.
  6. One year and 10 months later, I'm still playing Symphony of the Night. Restarted the game. After 4 hours of intermitent play, I finally arrived at the inverted castle, and 30 minutes later, I got the cheesy weapon Crisseagrim again. God, I can't believe that after more than 10 years I would still be playing this game and enoy it.
  7. Sorry to ask this, but is that a diaper he's wearing or is he just happy to see someone?
  8. Oh I see. I guess spawn is really messed up. On another note, I'm currently reading Marvels Real of Kings, which tie directly to the next cosmic event called the Thanos Imperative. Interesting things seems to be happening, and yet another alternate continuity can be added to Marvel's list of alternate realities.
  9. Ryuki, I think you should reserve your judgement after you play the game. Not everyone has the same tastes. The only reason I'm playing Guildwars was because I was invited to play it. And the only reason why I haven't finished the game is because I don't have anybody to play the game with. It's rather useless to play an MMORPG by yourself. But yes, the game system is rather complicated (for Guild Wars), that a level 5 player could easily defeat a level 20 player. it all comes down to how you combine your skill sets and their usage. You don't need to grind for levels for this game, but it is the skill that defines your character. You gain skills when you achieve missions. Although I'm not sure how Guild Wars 2 would adopt the system of the first game. But most of my friends have been talking about Guild Wars 2 and is eagerly awaiting it's release.
  10. Since I haven't even finished prophecies yet, I doubt that I'll be getting this game anytime soon.
  11. I would have to agree that Ussop is stronger than Nami. Remember when Ussop challenged Luffy? Besides, he fights much dirtier than Nami. Nami uses her sex appeal, which I doubt would work on Ussop. Also, Ussop has the advantage of distance. No matter how you look at it, Ussop can hold his own. Also, even though we rate Nami as the weakest among the crew, I can safely say that she can beat the crap out of Sanji.
  12. I'm currently confused as to the status of brook. I don't see any possible development of his abilities. I'm also unsure if brook might be capable of learning hakki, and his last appearance gave an impression that he will focus more on his musical talents instead of fighting skills.
  13. I would have loved Z if it were not for the prolonged battles that dragged one whole chapter into tens of episodes. I really can't forget the fact that one whole episodes was devoted to charging up.
  14. It was made clear that anyone can use Hakki. It just so happens that Luffy has the Kings Hakki. I'm willing to think that the top 3 fighters will be able to use at least a level of Hakki that can fight against logia users. Perhaps even Ussop may learn to imbue hakki to his weapons.
  15. Rewatching Slam Dunk via animax. Too bad the interhigh tournament was never animated. Would have been cool to see Sakuragi save the game against last years champion.
  16. It's funny how one little finger can hurt luffy. I see this gap differently. That simultaneously waiting for the crews to emerge from their seclusion, the story will focus on the other characters like Garp, Dragon and all the other pirates as well as the marines. I mean, those other characters can fill up the two year gap with their adventure, similar to that clown and fat lady that were featured in the teaser intro of each chapter (which is sadly missing recently). Perhaps the reverse can be done, that while the main story focuses on the side characters, the teaser will now show the status of the crew members. Regarding Zoro and Sanji, I think Zoro has more advantage in dishing out damage since he uses swords. While Sanji, being more versatile with his footwork, may have difficulty dealing damage compared to that of zoro. I would say that Zoro would be slightly stronger than sanji especially after he took the punishment of Kuma. Besides, Zoro is the first mate, and usually the first mate's strenght is only second to his captains. I'm also afraid that Sanji might come out gay after this. *shudders* Also, aside from Luffy, who else do you think is able to use Hakki. I think Zoro and Sanji might be able to use it. But for non-fighter types like Nami, Ussop and Chopper, it is unlikely.
  17. Ouch, four weeks without One Piece. That's gonna be hard to endure. So are we going to some something different after the 4 weeks? Let's certainly hope so.
  18. Really not suprising seeing that Kishimoto, the author or Naruto, grew up inspired by Dragonball. See, I told you to give it a chance. The later arcs gets intenser and intenser especially after the introduction of Tao Paipai. It's only Dragonball Z that ruined the anime for me with it's constant one episode duration of charging up.
  19. Yes, reading the manga actually does that to you. But in my case, the chasing Sasuke arc ruined the anime for me.
  20. I think there was something wrong with facebook. Having trouble logging on today. I give up. This guy obviously don't listen, or even care at all.
  21. Wow, even though Gai has a goofy character, he is kickass when it comes to ass kicking. As expected of Rock Lee's mentor.
  22. With the nearing end of W and the start of O's in September 5, I'm compelled to create a page for O's to fit the Kamen rider series template. But I'm currently having difficulty because the efforts that I have applied are taking its toll on me. I feel lazy and unmotivated to continue on with this. It is frustrating especially when I look at the work that I have done to the W page, it looks so incomplete. And I don't want to start another page when I still have one pending page to finish. Not to mention that I have only watched a single episode of W. I'd like to get suggestions that can be made for the current predicament. I'm shallow, so words of encouragement would sound very nice at the moment.
  23. Is it just me, or are the riders starting to evolve into Sentai (design-wise)? Gone are the times when the riders are actually artificial humans rebelling against their evil masters.
  24. Although I don't believe that building a mosque over ground zero is something to build up controversy, I firmly believe that people who brands Muslim as the one responsible for the attacks as a much more inappropriate action. The actions of a few people does not neccessarily mean that they are all alike. Additionally, the Islamic center is not going to be built on ground zero itself, but a few block away from the former site of the World Trade Center. What upsets me about religious issues is not about the actions people would take, but the way they are thinking. It simply shows how narrow minded most people are.
  25. Okay, this is going to be a major spoiler but I need to ask this. What are your thoughts on this?
