  1. How about we revive this thread. The beautiful Cha Sun Hwa in uniform.
  2. Bah, Quesada may have been a good Editor-in-chief, but I also find his decision to split Peter and MJ a bad decision. It just had to be Aunt May, doesn't it. I'm also not following spiderman much, but I'm somewhat aware of his current events. I'm just a casual reader and I don't have a company preference. So far, the only physical comics I have are the ones that came out during the 90's. Mostly Jim Lee comics since he's my favorite artist, and majority of them Image from their former glory days. Nowadays, I'm just a stinking pirate. If I can't find the comic, I just rely on wiki for the info. With Dark Horse reviving some of the classic valiant heroes, I'm wondering if the value of the valiant comics that I have would go up. I do enjoy the occasional DC elseworlds story, and those are what I'm currently hunting.
  3. I'm done reading the Thanos Imperative. Well, not quite grand scale as I'd hope. True, it involved the battles of the powers cosmic, but they didn't seem too epic like how the Annihilation was. I mean, I saw the cosmic entities, and said "oh there they are" and that's that. I swear, the pacing of the story made me think all those happened in a span of few hours. Is that it? Truth be told, I found the story to be wanting. I'm leaning very close to disappointed if not for what happened to the 2 heroes at the end, and hoping that there is something more to come. I can see lots of plot holes but I'm giving marvel the benefit of the doubt.

Indeed. Education is always good. The more credentials you have, the more you bypass the automatic filters set by companies. If I'm not mistaken, you're just one degree short of being called a Doctor. So instead, we will call you Master Ryuki. *in the voice of a stereotypical hunchback henchman* Yes, master, yes!
  5. Good question. Correct, "Ten" is another another word for heaven. And if you use "Ten", the equivalent of earth would be "chi". Typically, "Tenchi" [天地] is already heaven and earth, and as the anime "Tenchi Muyo" [天地無用], literally, this means "no need for Heaven and Earth", hence the subtitle "no need for Tenchi". Or, if you are really particular about the "and", you can simply say "Ten to Chi" [天と地], but this is seldomly used. On a side note, some people prefer the term "Tenjou Tenge" [天上天下], which means "throughout heaven and earth". Breaking it down, its literal translation is "above sky below sky".
  6. Watching MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN! Kickass!!! Char Lives!!! Sieg Zeon!! Sieg Zeon!! Sieg Zeon!!
  7. OMG! W Cyclone Joker is the next SIC!! That's sick! Unfortunately I can't post pics here in the office, but it looks kinda cool, especially with the scarf thing.
  8. Wasn't the Imakarum figure just released recently?
  9. Okay, reviving this again. Since it's a monday, it's a nice way to start the week with our weekly dose of Japanese. This weeks phrase is most often used colloqually or informally to denote that nothing is wrong, or to put it simply "no problem". 問題ない (もんだいない) [Mondai nai]. Typically this is used as a response for inquiry regarding your current state. Are you alright? =Mondai nai. (no problem) Are you having problems? =Mondai nai. (no problem) Can you really do that? =Mondai nai. (no problem) In actuality, this phrase is a rather monotonous response, in which you can use other replies like "Daijobu" (it's alright), or "heki da" (it's fine). This is somewhat of a formal phrase combined with a casual way of delivering it. Formally, it should be "mondai nashi" like how a soldier would reply. But since "-nai" is an informal usage, this reply comes as an informal, but stiff reply. Yes, that's the word I'm looking for. Stiff.
  10. This is actually what makes relationship a difficult thing to maintain. There are too many undefined variables so you really wouldn't know if things will go smoothly or roughly, irregardless if you have too many things in common or have little things to share. Some aspects may be applicable to a strong majority, but not to everyone. If relationships are easy to handle like how we are all discussing it like this, then there won't be any failed relationships. You have to wonder why so many relationships fail. Is it because of the guy, the girl, or the circumstance that surrounds them both? We don't know. That is why every relationship is a gamble. it is up to you to make sure that you not only do the right things, but to do things right.
  11. I'm not sure if I should be posting this here or on the MTV thread, but since the song here doesn't have a video, might as well post it here. I wonder if any of you guys remember Record of Lodoss War. The OVA version, not the TV series. This happens to be one of the best OVA I have ever seen even up to today's standards. The art was excellent and the story is so engaging. I think Nobuteru Yuki took Dungeons and Dragons and put it into the next level. Here's some of it's songs with a montage of images from the series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZCqbkYjYLE And here's the opening animation from the OVA:
  12. Ryuki made some valid points. But BK, here's the thing, I won't put myself in your shoes, but rather on the shoes of the girl's father. You touch my daughter, I kill you.
  13. I guess this would always go the path of moral debate. But if you're asking what I would do, I would continue the relationship and wait 2 years before actually doing "it". I wouldn't count first base as something illegal. I mean, a 4 year difference isn't such a big deal. 10 years might be a problem, but 4? If there is really a chemistry in the relationship, I don't see why you can't continue the relationship. As most people say, in love, age doesn't matter. Additionally, I think this would be more of a culture thing. Typically, how old do you think teens lose their virginity over there? It might be possible that a girl would want to do "it" out of peer pressure. As for your choices, you might regret it later if you choose option 1. Option 2 doesn't sound like a bad idea. And as for option 3, you'd have to think first of the repercussions later on.
  14. I do seem to notice that there are some language that rely on context to be able to express clearly. This is most true especially to cases where two words that sound exactly the same have different meanings. I guess these are most commonly found on Asian languages. Most often, this kind of conversation are used as gags for comedic effect on various medias. Perhaps this is also some of the reasons why English translators find it hard to translate certain dialogue that would keep the pun intended.
  15. I think one of the basic reasons why fillers are such disappointments is due to the non-involvement of the author in the story telling process. I mean, we were all excited with what was happening due to the direction that Kishimoto intended. Now the writers for the fillers has a wholly different idea, which sometimes might contrast to the intentions of Kishimoto. I think it's okay to add fillers as long as it will not affect the main story line or create plot holes, but amalgamating official story with fillers is something that would really put off a lot of people, especially when the writers are putting materials which might be counter to the future intentions of Kishimoto. One example of this is how the first season anime of Full Metal Panic was made. The author, Gato Shoji, was so pissed with the studio (Gonzo), he was forced to write a whole new story for the first 4 episodes of the second season (FMP:TSR) just to repair the plot holes made in the first season. Thus the second season was handled by Kyoto Animation.
  16. My friend, the last episode of Claymore is not really how it ends. Something much more happened to Claire and her rag tag of friends up in the north. For spoilers, Claire didn't actually get what she wanted at that point. In fact, the story is still on going in the manga, with the Organization cooking something much more sinister.
  17. I'm guessing that One Piece will end when Luffy achieves being the pirate king, then flash forward to 10 or 20 years later, when Luffy is all buff and bearded, he'll be meeting some young kid with the same kind of charasma that he had when he was younger, then pass off his hat to this kid. Then ends the story of One Piece, and start of a new story. Boo, we'll have to wait till next week for one piece.
  18. I do think that Teach would be keeping himself busy these past two years. Why let the ability to absorb more devil fruit powers go to waste? In that span of time, he may have already amassed an army that would rival that of the 4 emperors. Who knows, he may have already taken the seat of Whitebeard. Also, it was already inferred that the former Pirate King Gol D. Rogers have the Kings Disposition, which Luffy currently has. Additionally, during the short flashback when Rayleigh first met Rogers, Rogers' shilhoutte is distinctively similar to that of Luffy, down to his facial expression, heavily hinting that Luffy is on the same path as that of Rogers, becoming the Pirate King.
  19. I meant Teach himself having several devil fruit powers. Everyone was surprised when he managed to obtain the devil fruit powers of White Beard. While his first attempt at stealing devil fruit power was successful, I don't see any reason why he should stop there. Who is to stop him from getting Logia type powers. Also, I think there is one more emperor that we haven't seen. I was actually surprised when it was mentioned that Shanks was one of the 4 emperors. There are still a lot of things that still needs to be covered,
  20. Yeah, but I don't expect Caribou and his crew to be much difficulty for the straw hats. With their current standing, only a Vice Admiral or higher would be able to pose a challenge to them. I'm also wondering, do you think by now Teach would have a lot of devil fruit powers? He is most likely one of the most powerful adversary for the straw hats.
  21. And here I thought you enjoyed the fillers. It's like, once you go Manga, fillers instantly turn to crap. But I guess as long as the manga has a strong following, they will continue to milk the anime as much as it can allow. Airing crap on TV is actually helping to promote the manga, as more and more viewers prefer to read the manga than put up with the constant fillers.
  22. Welcome to my world. I've stopped watching the anime a long time ago. I admit, it was the anime that got me into reading the manga, but after the chasing Sasuke arc, I just couldn't stand watching the anime anymore.
  23. Well, we still won't know unless we actually see it. This chapter is rather anti-climactic for me. When Caribou was about to invade the Thousand Sunny, I was expecting the strawhats to have a short workout kicking ass. But I guess their current strenght would require far more stronger opponents to break out a sweat. I mean, they didn't even need to invoke Hakki to scare off mohmoo.
  24. I think Caribou joined the straw hats just to kill them. Everybody knows that the easier way to raise your bounty is to defeat somebody with a higher bounty than you. I don't think Caribou poses a threat to the straw hats, he's just might be able to annoy them for a little. also, I wouldn't be surprised at what Luffy wants to do know. Heck, he spent years on an island filled with giant monsters. This is also the same for Ussop. I think Luffy just got the idea of using the Kraken to draw the thousand sunny. Who knows, maybe the kraken would become part of the crew.
