well its about time...i did say it would be the end of the year if not into 2014 so i am not surprised... what i am surprised about is the promo photos??? we already saw a painted proto so why this model in the promo pics??? it looks good, but it slightly says ''Guyver out of control'' to me for some reason?? i dunno but the megasmasher orbs look kind of odd! ah well im sure it will be grea when its finished.

back on topic.... i finished watching MASKMAN!! and did enjoy it but it was slightly repetitive.... however to answer Durendals early question i like watching Sentai because its just easy viewing its fun and i watch it a bit tounge in cheek ... also for the archetypal characters, the story (if it has one!!), the action - which is why i tend to lean towards kung fu sentai , giant robots combining and the teams dynamic... i havent come across a better sentai than DAIRANGER yet though!!!!!!!!! I finished watching KAMEN RIDER W and did overall enjoy the whole series, i feel it kind of diverged from where it was heading or slightly stalled halfway through and could have been a bit greater than what it achieved but still, i enjoyed it . Right now i am watching KAMEN RIDER RYUKI and SHINKENGER SHINKENGER is ok, it has potential. KAMEN RIDER RYUKI is actually really good. i can now see why Ryuki has been going on about it all this time... i really wish i had watchd this before KR Blade as Blade just is a poor reworking of Ryuki from what i can tell, i think its just the cards thing but also Blade took bout 17 episodes to get into with Ryuki its instant and it builds from ep 1... im now at ep 31 after 2 poor episodes- a kind of flashback ep and another random ep which has just totally left the main storyline,i hope that they get back to the main story soon!!! Ryuki is like Naruto a loveable fool who will fight for whats right, you ant help but like him. the mix of comedy and action and story is well done, the story pace is engaging and the melodramatic music is also a good addition to the whole lot.its just a overall good show... i hope it just doesnt dissapoint from now to the end.

wow. this sounds absolutely crap. i was hoping we might get this decades kung fu or ninja sentai (ala maskman, dairanger, gekiranger , kakuranger, hurricanger )... but i can tell you right now i wont have any time for this.
-
yeah a mass fight between Apollyon and a few zoalords would be cool - which Zoalords are even left to fight??? it might also speed things up a bit as to where the heck things are going....
-
i love how these semingly random topics come up... i mean i seriously doubt even Takaya is going to let us into how shin feels about his home country in the modern era!!! yeah great to see Shins full battle body, but c'mon 8 pages??... probably cause the tankobon is on the way. looks like the Zoalords are going to meet and discuss how to handle old Apollyon??

how much for the graphic novels? ... my number 6 'heart of Chronos' has some damage, so i might consider getting another. thanks

that sucks you have to sell them man but oh well, at least your giving us first dibs! first i would say look at ebay prices and undercut by at least 10% as thats how much ebay robs from you to sell nowadays... but maybe a fair way of doing things would be to ask the original price plus half again or even double that in some cases... in the case of Guyver 3 and Gigantic Dark that would probably still be a good deal compared to ebay some of the BFC's are really really over priced on ebay.... i mean i think i paid £40 for my Guyver Gigantic and on ebay some are asking nearly 7 times that now!!!!!!!

is Akibaranger a metaphor for real life decline of tokusatsu?
Aether replied to Jess♥'s topic in Japanese Entertainment
well thats why im saying perhaps its a different climate now, why not just seperate the kids and the adult? if they cant put 'passion' in anymore then give us late night super sentai with all that in and let the kiddies have tonnes of 'enthusiasm'. maybe its something to do with the people producing the shows?? maybe they just wernt brought up on good enough toku to want to emulate it?? or the writers simply dont have enough experience to write passion?? some of the earlier writers worked on various shows in the industry and lots ofother sentai - Noboru Sugimura worked on 17 sentai!! 9 of which he was the main writer!... maybe nowadays its just down to rookies?? the 80's era and 90's era best acomplish the things youre talking about in my opinion, for sentai at least ,as the feel of it lends itself to the drama and emotion acted with passion -it just doesnt seem out of place despite the fact they then go on to jump about in coloured lycra and fight rubber monsters..but nowadays i think if the same scenes were played in a sentai as in the past it would seem overacted and too dramatic for what reson i do not know at this very moment... im guessing this all changed after Dekaranger and Kamen Rider Kabuto. -
is Akibaranger a metaphor for real life decline of tokusatsu?

true enough but to me the difference between Go-Busters and Kyoryuger is night and day. just not going stale doesnt mean they have to kiddify things so much though... GB seemed to have some qualities of the quality earlier series, as times going on im enjoying Kyoryuger but it seems to be not going anywhere too soon and lacks a certain depth - i know GB wasnt incredibly deep but you know what i mean.... anyway anything they do will be be better than goseiger - maybe you are correct that the Otaku culture surrounding Sentai and KR or just Tokusatsu is dropping... i mean its kind of the same in the west if you think about it... if we look at Japan first all those kids who grew up from the 80's onwards had Toku in their life and even though they are kids shows its quite apparent that people literally grew up with them as entertainment from probably the first sentai they saw they kept watching every year until adulthood and then either became 'otaku' or eventually just left it behind... these are the people who are obviously buying the retro releases of series including all the remakes of action figures etc now... i mean SH Figuarts are just bringing out KR Blade figures! so someone must be buying them... probably nowdays with so much other forms of entertainment and popular culture the percentage of people growing up with sentai and Toku is just not the same anymore... they will probably watch it for a few years and then move on maybe?? maybe there are no more people to consume a wide age range appealing Toku and so they just dont bother and colour it up for the kids to power up their pester power for toy buying. i think this sort of change is similar to the case of what can be seen in the west with the 80's crowd who grew up on Transformers, Thundercats, He-Man , etc. etc. all those people now are in their 30's and (some of them) have cash to spare on nostalgia and so all these lines have made a comeback but do you think in 20 years time the children of now will be so excited for the cartoons they used to watch on TV?? with the internet and youtube etc. i dont think so. its just a different world. i think that bit of time and the people who grew up in it in the west have mirrored what has been going on in Japan for decades. think of TV when we were young even though it was fictional it was still a glimpse into the unknown world a chance to get some knowledge of unkown things, and experience different emotions in a fun way. kids nowadays may think thats sad... but what makes me sad are kids like our neighbours who are 12 but more like 15 and have had some sort of accelerated ''growing up'' but arent really grown at all- im affraid its a product of this new age we live in.. but anyway... my point is that in Japan despite the ingrained otakuness of anime manga and Toku maybe the audience they are catering to has changed and so we get stuck with the declining quality of shows.. if the problem is that Toku has declined to nothing but kiddie TV when it used to appeal to a wider range of kids to young adults then the solution is surely more shows like Garo that are aimed at 'adults'. i mean yes Akiba rangers is aimed at adults but its a comedic look at the culture and Garo isnt a Kamen Rider but is in a similar category and its a 'serious' show... more shows like this would cater to the fans of the hey day of sentai and KR and may even bring in new older aged fans aswell. having said this i really really really want to see a more adult take on Sentai a late night 'serious' Sentai show would be awesome!! -
i seriously doubt we'll here anything for a while... my guess is they are still going to release it but im hoping that they are planning on and making other characters to release aswell. as old as Guyver is i think its safe to assume that Max Factory are behind the franchise still... all the info posted before made it sound as if it would be late 2013 at least before we heard anything else.

i hope the action is as good as akiba rangers... as for melons and other fruits in this new KR, well ive pretty much become numb to crazy and zany ways for these tokkusatsu guys to henshin... i mean after seeing kyoryugers dance to samba anything goes!! as for 4 Kamen Riders is this not overkill?, is this just not ''Fruity Sentai Kamen Rider'' ? i like the look of most of them. some of the colours are overkill but having said that the brown armour looks drab, so... all this being said though i must say i get a good vibe from the poster that Odin put in post 14. yeah i think we could rant a bit on this topic!

Super Sentai 2013 - Jyuden Sentai Kyoryuger
Aether replied to odin's topic in Japanese Entertainment
oh, ok. which star trek?? ive never ventured past the original series im rewatching Season 2 at the moment. @ Kyoryuger im still fnding it entertaining , theres enough variety going on that each episode seems to be good and not so repetitive... hopefully whatevers brewing with the bad dudes will come to the boil soon. -
i wouldnt say i wasnt impressed, its cool. but at a point in the story where youre thinking hmm, i wonder how Takaya is going to tie everything up?? and how long it will take him?? he then goes and throws even more things to tie in and that will need to be tied up.... just more contributing factors to the fact Guyver wont finish until were about 60 years old and Takaya's in his 90's.

points taken. cant say i would agree that there would be 23,000 repeat views though!! of what interest is there in looking at that topic if youve posted in it?? just to see someone wrote ''signed''?? anyway the reason that there arent ''10,000'' unique signatures is that you have to sign in to do so... which is why i suggested what i did. yes its 5 years too late i know but ive stated that and i just thought id point it out . its all good, like i said - it was just an idea.
-
this is a cool idea. how many are you framing?? be sure to post some pics when youre done!
-
you see this is what i meant - 200 grams of crisps / chips is like 8 small bags - thats a lot in on sitting!!!

Ryuki i think your opinion on the petition is sound. like i stated things were different 5 years ago. i pointed out in the legendary 'spectrum' thread that it would be unlikely and bitter sweet if a publisher did pick it up .. theres the whole starting from the beginning and then theres the amount of time it would take to catch up to recent chapters - thats if they even stuck at it that long!! best thing would be for viz to pick it up and release the 'big' editions covering books 1-30 over a few years... but alas i dont think that will happen... anyway as for anew petition for the manga i'll leave that to your discretion... but maybe a petition for a second guyver TV series?? ( or films like alkanfel009 suggetsed - good idea!) or maybe just forget the whole thing !?!? ! like i said it was just an idea i got when i looked at the watchcount!

Super Sentai 2013 - Jyuden Sentai Kyoryuger
Aether replied to odin's topic in Japanese Entertainment
did anyone else try the overtime subs vs TVN like i mentioned? -
just looking that recently there have been new posts in the ''petition for guyver english manga thread'' and see that we are up o 144 posts.... however in the 5 years the thread has been up there have been 24,300 views... even if we counted repeat viewings by memebers its still got to be at least 23000 unique hits maybe? anyway i know a lot has changed over 5 years but all im thinking is if there is a way to let people sign this petition or a new one ( we could include who wants a second guyver tv series! and more BFC's or something like that) without them having to sign in or be a member? i know it would need to distinguish individuals to avoid multiple signings by the same person etc. but surely thats possible nowadays?? bah, i dont know it was just an idea !!

chips of choice? you mean CRISPS! sorry in the UK chips are what americans call 'fries'. potato chips are crisps.... anyway i like crisps. too much. my favorite at the moment are Morrisons beef and onion flavour. i have also tried some Guiness Flavoured crisps recently and i was amazed when i first tasted them that they actually do taste of the irish stout drink Guiness. a really stsrange sensation at first! eating a savoury drink? generally i think our bags of crisps are smaller than other places... are standard is 35g i think 6 pack bags are 6 bags of 25g but then in more recent years they seem to be selling more usa sized packets, like the Guiness crisps which are 150g bags but really that is a 6 pack in one bag!!!! theres no wonder people get fat or eat too many by putting a 6 pack in one bag!! anyhow the most i will eat is 2 25g at a time and i know thats not good but i dont do it all the time, once a week or sometimes twice!
