  1. c'mon dudes.... its obviously a guyver suit!!!! ( i think ) nice work Larz!
  2. @ Ryuki I enjoyed watching, well, listening to your deconstructing reality videos. its cool to hear someone vocalising their thoughts on these subjects. theres too much to address or discuss now, but i liked what you did. @ the topic this is true for kinetic energy i think but as for the energy that makes up life or exsistence then that is what can not die. yeah its true that somethings potential or usefulness is greatly diminished by a break in or consumption of the energy, but no matter how useless or insignificant something is it still exsists in some way unless its spent - as in motion. most things in science terms talk of heat equating to energy or so it seems, so lets say to illustrate in the most simplest terms that if you burn something you have used its potential energy and turned it into heat radiation , the burnt thing turns to ash which is some kind of carbon (or nitrogen oxide apparenty) either way you will find that even ash or nitrogen whatever will be made of atoms, these atoms have a system of energy that is making them 'physical' or allowing them to exsist. therefore they are not dead. same thing for stars and humans, just because either one dies there energy changes and becomes part of something else. the atoms can become part of what makes planets and in turn makes the life or sentient life that lies on the planets. etc. etc. this process is continually happening, i honestly cant see how anyone can argue against the fact that nothing ever really dies it just changes. its like the whole universe is a big recycling program.
  3. watching Boukenger at the moment, its OK apart from the fact 'chiefs' machine is called 'dump' which is not cool. i wonder if there is a big story arc lurking somewhere or not though .... finished watching Garo 1st series, and in a word its AWESOME. its quite funny that i like Kouga the non transformed hero just as much, if not more, than when he calls the armour. the whole series is just really well executed. pleased theres another series currently airing but i hope they dont ruin it. anyone seen Cutie Honey- the Live?? only watched one ep, it looks a bit ecchi but had some decent stuff in it. i suppose it could be considered in the same vein as Garo in that its not meant as a universal franchise. well its based off Go Nagai's work so its not bound to be is it!! and thinking about it it was more violent than Garo!!
  4. i remember this book being talked about a few years ago...is there a few others or am i making that up?? anyway, now i think we can all appreciate Durendal and Amika a little more after this google translation garbage: first 2 sentences- '' He may be only once so far, fainted. When you have a tag in kindergarten, slide your feet in concrete before Genko, he struck the head fell to the beat'' that is clear as mud! i gather someone walked across a school building site and slipped on some unset concrete and bumped there head with great musical timing
  5. just to be silly - you could point at them like alan sugar or donald trump on the apprentice and say 'youre fired!' OR heres a little more serious suggestion... just explain to them your siutation if you have mentored, counselled, coached them then they know that.so if you say that even though you have done all that its not working so thats why they have to go, thats a valid reason... so you could say to them ' youre aware of how much time and effort has been put into training you? well, im afraid its become apparent that you havent improved in an efficent enough way, i feel that you have been given help and a very fair chance already to improve but i am not seeing any evidence that your ability to do the job required of you is getting any better, so im very sorry but it would be best for the company and yourself if you employment were to cease here... its not like youre saying out of nowhere - you're crap, piss off! i understand it could be hard because it cant be easy to effect someones life, but at the end of the day its their fault they are not performing up to the standard you require. anyway, good luck.
  6. well if i were in charge of translations at Viz then i would have kept the original japanese names in the text and just given an asterisk with the english translation... or have the english name of a technique but still keep jutsu and have it known from the beginning that justsu is technique. and when it comes to japanese english translations i know nothing, so obviously you two are better to know for literal translations - however i dont think literal is always better when it comes to sounding cool!! i think the english anime version (not that i watch it) of Shadow Clone jutsu / technique sounds 'cooler' than their manga effort. for arguements sake, i reckon that clone would be acceptable if chakra were used as a prefix so 'chakra clone jutsu' gets a little vote from me, seeing as they are made of evenly distributed chakra from the original shinobi. as semantically accurate as it may be, doppleganger just sounds naff. i think its because its german, i hated doing german at school. Perhaps if they had not used 'Art of the Shadow Doppleganger' and gone for 'doppleganger technique' or 'doppleganger jutsu' it wouldnt have been so bad.
  7. well, yeah thats why i found it so frustrating in the first place! hm, i just had a bit of a bad thought on it because dont viz use stupid names for the jutsus in their translation?? i know for 'kage Bunshin no Jutsu' they've used 'Art of the Shadow Doppleganger' which is a complete joke, not sure about other jutsus or if they've changed it because it sucked so much, ... oh well, i'll just have to wait and see how bad it is.
  8. well no comment on the current story because i have 56 episodes of anime to watch, but im going to refer back to my post @ post 112 p6 - i mentioned my frustration that the naruto data books had not been scanlated in their entirity or been translated by viz , but this christmas while perusing Amazon i saw that recommended for me was the naruto databook!, coming in january 2012!!! so my emails to viz berating them for not translating it paid off - woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.amazon.co...26050735&sr=8-1
  9. oh my days!? its a robotic bum??? theres no limit to the japanese imigination!!!!
  10. WoW this might be a series i can actually watch as it comes out!!! unlike Naruto or Garo because im not up to date with them! i must say Bountyhunters sounds cool ( is it set in hawai and one is called Dog?? ) only thing im not liking is the look of yellowrangers robot. however i do really like the look of those new costumes, they look cool!! i mean after 35 years of lycra its got to be time for a slight change !
  11. big subject of which i would usually go on n on about but not now, so heres a concise answer. i always say only two things truly exsist - consciousness and energy. consciousness is our ' will ', energy is obviously chi. as fundamental beings i say we are only consciousness and spirit (and our physical is a house of lower energy). chi does not generate will, chi has a pattern it naturally follows, but chi can be directed by will - eg you want to move your arm your mind / will relays that message, chi then animates your physical to move. thats an over simplification , but when you say chi it really is an umbrella term as there are so many different types of chi , chi can be thought of in different ways inside and out of the body even making it synonymous with blood, so however you explain it in energetic or physical ways it is chi that is responsible. when you say immaterial its really a fallacy as nothing is immaterial as if something exists then it exists, material or immaterial, corporeal or non corporeal. the mind body and soul are obviously wired together following a blueprint that is holistic, all rely on and effect eachother. chi is part of that wiring or even the power that animates it from spirit to physical.
  12. changed my plans and i am now watching Dekaranger - its really quite good, its a complete different pace to Hurricanger which is ok as it sets them apart..the action is good, stories are good and its quite funny in places. episode 13 is my favourite so far, ****** is a real badass !!! and Garo is getting better, episode 7 was epic! as far as action goes i can't fault this series.
  13. Thanks for this after i read this chapter i will be up to date! (after about 6 months of saving up chapters to read!)
  14. well blame Durendal for my recent posts on the past 2 pages regarding chinese kung fu dramas ordinarily i wouldnt post anything here as i dont watch J drama, its only because i had watched Hurricanger and have started watching Garo that i did, so i apologise if im the culprit i suggest if you really want it to be strictly Japanese in here then 'make it so' and have a general asian drama / asian entertainment (films, tv series etc.) thread elsewhere.
  15. i just watched the penultimate episode of 'Real Kung Fu' starring Yeun Biao, this episode was good and im looking forward to the finale. i have really enjoyed the series. I think Yuen Biao is great and his potential of stardom was somewhat overshadowed by Jackie and Sammo, but anyway apart from him Real Kung Fu features some other old kung fu film faces like 'Gordon' Liu, Yuen Wah, Leung Kar Yan and Lo Meng - really great stuff if you like Chinese kung fu drama. also ive watched 3 eps of GARO and so far and i like it. the main dude kicks ass, he's better than the armour! but its probably due to the one thing that is bugging me about the series and that is that it switches to CGI when he transforms - WHY??????????????????????????????????? i get it for maybe some of the moves, but it seems whenever he moves Garo is in flippin CGI.
  16. I have both swordsman and swordsman 2. i also like the old shaw brothers wu xia movies. btw Donnie Yens latest film is called wu xia isnt it? i have a tv series from 2003 called Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils / tian long ba bu which i believe is based on a Jin Yong novel but i havent watched it yet. i got that because it was by Jin Yong but not part of the 'Condors' material . i am interested in seeing all the tv series like heaven sword and dragon sabre and legend of the condor heroes and return of the condor heores but due to their length and sourcing them i'll probably only ever see the shaws adaptations of them.
  17. ah, i see I fully understand what you are saying about colours and them evoking certain feelings ( everythings energy remember! ) however i dont think im as sensitive to them when watching stuff , dark may promote negativity but you dont always have to recieve it. i dont think i would let the palette of a show put me off as like you said that distinction doent really exsist in japanese entertainment, i dont know about Garo as obviously i havent seen it yet, but something would have to be along the lines of Horror to put me off actually watching it (unless its a Zombie style flick - for some reason i like zombie fims specifically Romeros and RE), not because id be scared per se , but for the fact that putting those kinds of overtly violent terrible images into your psyche is in my opinion not healthy. i guess what i mean is the overall tone of a show is more important than the colour tones if a show has some depressive or challenging themes within a certain context i dont mind as long as they are resolved in some way. anyway i'll give it a chance
  18. ok, thanks for the input. To be honest im looking forward to see how Gekiranger goes as i was well impressed by the first 2 eps - i was sold by the kung fu and in paticula the giant cat master!!! i thought about it and i might watch Garo next to get away from the Super Sentai, and then come back to Sentai afterwards so that im not going from one Sentai straight into another. i wonder how dark is dark ? i am up for some, for want of a better word , less 'kidified' armoured warrior stuff ... i'll see how i go with the other Sentai before looking for Abaranger . i might have had enough by then ???
  19. I finished watching Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger yesterday and overall i quite enjoyed it. it does seem less corny for some reason in japanese than the translation to power rangers where the gung ho attitude seems so forced Theres just something that keeps this and probably all super sentai/power rangers from being super awesome and its those episodes that just seem to be -meh- where the monster/ villian is a bit lame and you think come on really?? because they kind of detract from those episodes that have flashes of brilliance. i found it stepped up a notch once spear 7 arrived. is it me or was this series inspired by Naruto?? Yousuke was like Naruto in some parts and some of the ninja techniques like kagebunshin no jutsu were in there??? anyway overall i enjoyed it so i am wondering what to watch next? i have Gekiranger, Dekaranger, Dairanger 1-35 and Garo to watch... anyone any opinion?
  20. im gonna be controversial here and say i liked / didnt mind the old snarf - not all the time as he was annoying in certain episodes - but he was part of the charm of the original show. however if he wasnt going to be a badass in this new version its probably best hes in a silent companion guise seeing as Lion-O dosnt really need a nanny! episode 3 - a bit meh, but probably necessary episode 4 = coooool, i really liked the story and the ending kicked ass does anyone know 1. if there is any intro theme to this? i havent heard one. if there isnt one, what a waste, they should have just stuck the old one one because im sure we all agree its flippin awesome . i can see why they didnt do one for the first episode but come on!! and 2. how many episodes are scheduled for the season??
  21. well i cant bring anything to the table really, but thought it was worth mentioning that by chance i watched the beginning of linkara's PR Wild Force review and he happened to rant to people being impatient for his reviews and talked of the process he actually goes through to produce the videos. it sounds as if you all would probably have to take a different approach than he does. http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/linkara/hopr/28574-power-rangers-wild-force
  22. @Ryuki Preach it brother!! i am of the same opinion on optimism etc. , thats why i was on about happiness a few posts up. also i cant believe you thought check aswell - you know - i've never brought this up with anyone i know in any great depth, if at all - i dont think they really care to a point where they want to try and change habits that deep within themselves. lets face it its a hard thing to attempt to eradicate those thoughts from happening probably as much in the fact that its a function of the ego. i suppose to be perfect at it those sorts of thoughts wouldnt even happen . its like i said about internal contradictions though, i think if we recognise these things as problems or something we wish to eradicate to some degree, then recognising them in the first place is half the battle won. @ Luna about your sleeping anxiety - woah, that must have really sucked to have such an anxiety as that. so if religion had anything to do with that no wonder youre not a fan of it! i think it stands to reason that we are a product of both (and imo also other things such as ryuki alluded to in his first paragraph above). im assuming that in psychology terms that comes down to mental vs genetic i.e one says we have a blank mind that is filled as we grow that determines our traits and the other that says genetics is involved ?? nature vs. nuture
  23. good luck dude
  24. yeah thats a good quote Ryuki dont they say Freedom always has a price? i think at one time we were probably ignorant but that was an earlier time (or life) and weve 'outgrown' it maybe. one thing i sway my opinion on sometimes is wether we manifest these events ourselves or if there is a guiding force or if its predetermined, i believe we can manipulate any situation with our will like Luna said at the end of his post, but the framework which we have to work in is already set around us somehow, but exactly how is the open question... (too long to quote it all!!) Good luck with your goals Luna, i too have goals, but infact realistically too many for this life and i really need to decide what i want to do!! it sounds like your problem with religion was that, maybe through no fault of your own, you had too much faith in your faith? and when you place power over yourself in something external to yourself then yes it can potentially become a weakness. if that was the case then you have obviously now overcome it. anyway, whatever we have been through has made us who we are so however crap it was, it was all necessary. assuming we are ok with who we are. i'd say all people have contradictions to some degree, but the good thing is that you recognise them and if necessary work on them. and yet another saying - isnt 'acceptance the path of least resistance'?, so with your views on death and other things it just sounds like youre ready to go with the flow man...
  25. Luna i do understand you arent looking for definitive answers. but i only emphasized that i couldnt give them (in this topic paticularly) because of how much a personal thing this topic is. i wish you luck with your struggle. i'll babble a bit and see if you can gain anything from it.. I know you understand that not everyone is the same and even though you see things one way others see it another way, in this you should realise that even though you see religion as some form of weakness, to other people it is actually a source of power, faith is their strength. whther the faith is born from a fallacy or not is irrelevant the key thing is if the strength exsists. if you yourself can use or even need that as a source of power, strength or happiness is your choice. if you dont need it fine but try not to knock other people for believing. even though i think Bruce was making this comment towards race i think it applies just aswell to all other different things in human nature : ''I like to think of myself as a human being, because under the sky, under the Heavens there is but one family. It just so happens man, that people are different”. -Bruce Lee i see religions as a problem not primaily for them being some kind of fallacy of the ultimate truth, but for the way that they have been missused and misrepresented and although they premote unity they do cause segragation awsell. just because i dont believe in them doesnt mean they are of no value to other people though.ive ranted elsewhere about religion so i wont go on. there are many different forms of faith it doesnt have to be a religion, you can be a heathen and still have faith. how tangible you need that faith to be is up to you, either on a universal scale or in a more immediate way, like im sure you have faith in yourself when doing your martial arts, hopefully you have faith in your friends and family and your shifu/ sensei's. you say everday life sucks. hopefully yours doesnt, but what is better to believe in- nothing and have you feel like life sucks or to believe in something and you like life because of that faith? surely it is better to live life and be happy rather than to live it thinking that there is no point and that everything sucks? and especially with an opinion that you currently hold that there is nothing after death - if this life we have right now is truly all that there is then surely you want a life to enjoy rather than a life that you feel sucks. this is why i say reality is subjective only you experience life how you experience life . in a case like this another repeated saying of mine comes to mind - ignorance is bliss - not everyone ponders things as deep as you or i. some people are just happy to except what they are fed, and good luck to them. i know that through some of the years of thinking and exploring that yes i wasnt 'brainwashed' or whatever any more, but it didnt really bring me much happiness for a long while until my perception started to change and now i am fairly content with how i am. do you see what i mean? i hope all this babble helps in some way
