  1. You'd probably wanna get some textured brushes. Thing with colouring Guyver manga is that a lot of shading is done for you. Takaya uses lots of dots and screens and halftones to shade it while it's black and white. You won't get that sort of similar effect with just using the brush normally and blending on Photoshop. http://screentones.deviantart.com/art/Dots-Screens-Pack-150468959 This is a texture pack you can install in Photoshop. From there, you can use it and apply it to line art to create a (sort of) similar effect. Install the texture pack, and when you want to use it, create a new layer where your SHADING will exist. Right click > Blending Options > Pattern Overlay. You may have to load the texture yourself. If so, click on the pattern thumbnail and a window will come up with a bunch of patterns. Click on the little cog wheel to bring up another menu where you can load patterns yourself. Set the Blend mode to MULTIPLY. Paint shading in and the pattern will appear over it wherever you paint If you lock transparent pixels (click the little checker board on the layers panel) then you can go in with a darker colour within the painted shading to create varying levels of light. You can also go in with a colour closer to your base colour as well for lighter bits. This gives you a very basic way to achieve a somewhat similar effect, but really the sort of look you are going for is achieved in the drawing stage
  2. Haven't seen any creative work from you in a while Ryuki, good to see. You seem to have a really good understanding of colour as well as its application. I feel like there's a good balance going on. Did you study colour theory at any point?
  3. You're the same shade from several years back I assume? That was also a regular on mangahelpers cleaning Naruto chapter covers (That was what, 5 years ago now? How depressing) Good to see you again! And good work on that colour. Lost Unit, you're doing a great job with these redrawings as well! They remind me a lot of what another guy was doing with the Advocacy scans - he was releasing "HQ" versions where he sorted out the levels and redrew bits that were messed up by the seams. He only did volumes 12 and 15 before disappearing off the face of the earth but he did quite a good job (though not quite as good as you I will admit). I made sure to keep those versions of the books.
  4. Welcome back man! Just curious though, what's the deal with volume 9? I had a flip through and it actually looks a lot better than I remembered last I checked (same with volume 8 - wow, where the heck did those scans come from??)
  5. Bloody hell this is a blast from the past. I'll have to sit down and do a whole read-through of it now that it's complete. I was always a bit apprehensive about starting to read it because I knew it would end before it was meant to.
  6. I wonder if Sho can alter how he uses the control medal to accept outside interference/force? That could explain how they are able to share and exchange power.

I think Murakami's batch of proto Zoalords were either purposefully given a limited life span as they were just tests which Cronos probably didn't want running around for ages or they simply lacked the technology to give them proper life spans. Has anyone said that Guyot has a limited life span thanks to this re-processing? I would imagine that he would be quite adverse to being brought back to fighting form only to be alive for a few more years. He seems hellbent on world domination. I think that either Cronos technology improved, or he has been processed differently to regular proto Zoalords. His Quadriga form is definitely not zoalord-related, even though he was shown to still possess his previous Zoaform.
  8. Love me some forearm blades!
  9. Yes, I remember now! It was latching onto a bird. You're right. Looks like the artificial CM deserves more credit than I give it! I would imagine that they don't dissolve simply so that Cronos can preserve/pay respects to the body. Murakami must've been lying there for quite some time before Alky picked him up
  10. But are Zoalords processed in such a way that their bodies can regenerate from just a cell sample like the guyver? I would find it incredibly surprising as that's Advent technology for sure; which even Cronos doesn't have access to. They have the artificial CM now, but I would be surprised if that was capable of regenerating the host's body without the control medal, as it has already been shown to have its limitatons.
  11. There would be opportunity for 2 Murakami clones then! Don't know how I would feel about him being represented by three characters at once though.
  12. I feel as though the fact that Sho/Aptom noted "That attack..." makes the fact that he is using such a similar attack to what Murakami/Imakarum used significant. This is probably Takaya preparing to drop the twist on who Apollon is. I'm still hoping for a new character, but this one point makes it seem unlikely at this point.
  13. Hey there! Max Factory have been teasing Alkanphel and Gigantic XD prototypes for a couple of years now, but have rarely said any thing on them, so we've been waiting for a while on those. That's what the quote Matt mentioned is referring to. And BFC-Max is indeed the super articulated figures, while the rest of Zx-Tole's team which you saw were most likely the BFW line which are considerably less articulated and came in double packs
  14. I guess an 8 page chapter is Takaya's gift to himself! Here's hoping they're good'uns
  15. I seem to remember hearing a long time ago that The Gigantic is yellow because one of Takaya's assistants made an error with the colour. Don't know how accurate it was though. If Guyvers are coloured by personality, then it would maybe make sense for Sho's Gigantic to be yellow because of the fact that it was made in confidence of being able to defeat Zoalords (more specifically, Alky).
  16. Hey, those head statues are really cool, where'd you nab them? I don't think I've seen them before. Are they official?
  17. Not sure if I'm a fan of that glossy finish. I think the matte of the BFC gave them a really nice look and feel. Also I remember seeing a photo of the figmas a while back and really liking the finish of the paint. Can't remember what it was exactly I liked about it, but it looks like that's gone. What a shame
  18. Damn, Guyot has the WORST luck with running into beings of extreme power. Must be very frustrating for him. But very enjoyable to see him being thwarted like he deserves. Good chapter.
  19. Not to be a massive butt kisser but his signature is awesome! Great photos. What is that Guyver Out of Control/Standardized book you have?
  20. Ah yes I remember hearing about this a while ago, nice to see some pics! A shame there aren't any of Takaya himself, or more of a crowd. Are there rules against photography in Japan for these sorts of events?
  21. Did that Thancrus come with the base? That figure looks really great - Thancrus is one of my favourite Zoanoids
  22. Pretty understandable complaint, considering some manga are like, what, 50 pages monthly? I assumed Takaya had assistants like most other mangaka. Oh well. We really ought to try and get used to it now. At least he hasn't pulled any recap bullshit on us recently. The ending was rather strange and abrupt. Takaya quickly getting 2013's Guyver out the way? Anyway,
  23. Yeah, it is more likely something to do with Archanfel rather than Aptom's abilities. I gather that only Zoalords can sense powers, as Murakami did on top of the Relic. The Guyver's sensory orbs don't detect powers as much as they detect presences, right? Although perhaps I should have a quick peek at the datafiles first...
  24. http://www.japan-legend.com/guyver_advocacy/07_-_viz_english_version/045/31 Is this what you're referring to? This is peculiar, I don't think he's ever showcased this ability since this point. Did ZX-Tole have some sort of sensing powers too?
  25. I can only imagine because by mixing 2nd editions with 3rd editions you get an inconsistent look of the books on your shelf, purely an aesthetic thing. Very superficial reason to increase the price. But I'm sure the earlier editions will probably be worth more further along the line.
