Will it always be like this?
not sure. I have been advised to can the pre-order and pledge system. but how else do we ensure that people have a right to read the monthly chapters? I really don't know. I've hidden the pre-order topics for now until I can think up a solution. otherwise we won't be able to release translations on a monthly basis.

Mars
they should get the spaceman to look at it. that guy who was staying there. they can collect the bacteria and examine it.

Tales of Xillia
I really liked tales of graces. This made me want to get tales of xillia... it was a mistake. it is quite a moody atmosphere and too much fighting.

Longest played games?
strangely, the game with most hours on my steam account is metal gear solid 5. it could be because I left it on when I went out. the most played game is half life 2. except for world of warcraft of course. I don't tend to count that.

yes, that reminds me, they are supposed to be under a temporary truce with Cronos. that includes Agito, doesn't it? So whatever Agito is doing, is not necessarily against Cronos for now. That means what he is doing here is probably to do with their current mission to find Apollon and teh Segawa's. They probably got some intelligence from somewhere that suggested they were related. maybe.

Quote function broken?
I've just tried to see what happens when i click edit on my old posts and the quote appears in the edit box just fine. so the issue now is to do with how the page is displaying the data stored in the database. I've tried recaching and resetting skin data so it's not a problem with the skins. the bbcode menu was a bit of a mess with custom code edits for bbcode I had never edited. strange. well I deleted all the edits so the bbcode is working as default. this seems to have solved some issues. I'm leaving it there for tonight. this is wrecking my head.

Quote function broken?
ok well i've managed to get the quotes actually showing up. at least for me. but as jupiter said, the reference to who posted it and when is completely missing. looking at past topics where there ought to be quotes, it appears the data is missing from those too. so I don't think this means the data is not there, more a case of it's not being displayed correctly.

I'd like to ask the question, why is Agito going after these two specifically? as opposed to other targets that would have been easier to locate or identify.

personally, I'm against the free the nipples campaign, I feel that area is just too personal. For a male body, it's different. that area isn't as much of an erogenous zone on a male body.

Prometheus 2 - “Alien: Paradise Lost!
when anyone asks me what my favourite movie is, I generally default to Alien. It's not because it genuinely is my favourite movie, or the best movie I have ever seen, but it is generally very difficult to make such a monumental decision. "the best". I choose Alien because the way it is shot is very beautiful to me. It is art as far as I am concerned. not the pretentious crap you get from art students, but something beautiful crafted with dedication and attention to balance and aesthetic qualities. It is like a beautiful haunting piece of music, in visual form. The script and the technicalities etc don't really concern me too much. as a result of this view, I really don't have a high opinion of Aliens. Aliens took it in a completely different direction and turned it into an action horror-thriller. For these reasons, I give more credit to Alien 3 and a little bit of credit to Alien 4. But of course, as Prometheus was made by Ridley Scott himself, I feel it is completely on point. The beautiful imagery and pacing and themes are all back just how I remembered. I am less concerned with plot holes or scripts or technicalities, more concerned with how it looks and feels. This move... calling the next one 'Alien'. In some senses I feel this is a problem. It feels to me that Scott is compromising. He is compromising his ideals in order to please studio execs or the fans of a franchise. This suggests he may be pandering and that potentially hurts the thing I loved about the other two films.

Spoilers?
It's different in different cases. sometimes when something is a massive spoiler, like it's a really big deal, then I would get really pissed off. like one time I was playing this roleplaying game. then my friend at the time sent me a text messaging saying "OMG I can't believe **** is dead!!!". well that really injured me emotionally. I can never have that experience. that point in that game could have been something really special for me, but instead it was ruined. that experience was stolen from me. for other things I don't care so much. well, I tend to go along with what the creators release. so I look for a lot of information that the press releases give out. but once people have watched that movie or played that game, I'll try to keep away from it. in other cases where I get really angry at something, I'll just read everything about it to see if It is worth giving it a chance. I got really angry with metal gear solid phantom pain. I stopped playing it and I never would have played it ever, if I had not looked around for info and cutscenes etc. I did that so I could gauge whether it was worthwhile me working to get past the things that made me angry.

I think if you can demonstrate a good body of work or a good ability, then you can apply for a job in localisation. qualifications are nice, but ability is more important.

Feminist and MRA Hypocrisy. Why They Aren't Egalitarians
sorry mirabilis, I missed your response. just look at cultures in africa and south america etc who do not wear a lot of clothing. both men and women wear barely more than a loin cloth. their culture doesn't have pornography but to be fair, they don't have computers or printed media. personally, I believe it is more a matter of behaviour. if all women walked around without clothes on, then a man seeing a nude woman wouldn't identify that as a display of availability. it would be the woman's behaviour that gives the messages. even being nude, there are certain parts that are not readily visible, but certain postures would reveal different shapes and forms. it is this, that would become provocative, and not the mere sight of bare skin. pornography may still exist, but I believe there may be a different style of presentation. focusing on behaviour rather than presentation. I had an interesting thought just now. it makes me think of the ferengi from star trek. "you force your women to wear clothes?!" this is an interesting concept in the sense that in some society in some parallel universe, the men may force their women to wear clothes to create this sense that bare skin is something to prompt arousal. it creates a sexual perversion of sorts. hmm... maybe it's not a parallel universe.. i Just remembered how some arabian cultures and middle eastern cultures encourage women to wear burka and other things like that. to preserve the woman's mystery. maybe this is the reason why there has been a large amount of sexual crimes in the uk perpetrated by people who came from those cultures. because UK women are not wearing full face veils and the men are overwhelmed.

I echo what durendal said. you have my respect for coming here to us in such an open manner. my question... it's a hypothetical scenario based on the past of our own project. You know those manga sites that host other people's work and post ads on the pages thereby making a ton of money off other people's work? How would you feel if one of those sites start taking your work (inevitably it'll happen) and making money from what you worked on? In my case, I felt like they were stealing from me, this making me a hypocrite and I didn't want to be a hypocrite and this was why we stopped giving Yoshiki takayas work away for free and only to people who bought the books. what is your own view on that situation? would you be okay with them taking your work? I realise that the question may come across as loaded. I want to just put it on the record, it's not a loaded question, I am honestly curious about how you view this issue. It was a difficult thing for me personally to deal with at the time.

I don't think he's doing the back chapters. He said he was starting from the beginning of book 30.

Let them do what they like. If they went to 'throw salt' our way, let them. it's their energy they are wasting. any people with decent set of morals can see what we're doing and why. who knows this could help get more people to buy guyver manga as it does give our cause more exposure. Do we need to get some updated link on where to buy manga if people don't want to use our ordering system?

Where do we stand with the Guyver Petition?
to be honest, it's mainly a permanent reminder of just how popular (or unpopular) guyver is. If we were to compare it to other manga, it gives us an idea if any manga publisher in the west would be likely to pick it up. with the numbers in the thread, I doubt any manga company would even consider it.

thanks guyver four. there is a lot of bile on that site isn't there? and they seem to think we would bother to go over there to talk to them? It would be more productive to stick my head in a meat grinder.

can you link me to one of them so I can look at the urls on the button and see if there is any difference? I've tried resetting everything to default that I can, and it doesn't fix it. I mean, if I reset it to default, overwrite all the files with default unchanged files, and it isn't fixed, there's not much else I can do. I can try installing a totally new and untouched forum in a separate folder and see if that works. if it comes up with the same problem then the problem is with the software on the server. that's something I can't touch, but I can open a support ticket for the admins to look at it. it all takes time though and that's not something I have much of lately. I'll try my best. that's all I can promise.

the second version was done by Salkafar. Don't know if you remember he used to produce his own version with localisation of the dialogue.

with regards to quality.... our current translator is a professional translator working for companies in Japan. so their translations are professional quality. the font, well just look at your manga. the font used in guyver is not handwritten, so using handwritten type of font to echo american comics is really not appropriate. The font used for guyver looks a bit like kochi gothic. century gothic is a similar type of sans-serif clean and gently curved font. if century gothic looks cheap then that suggests that takaya is cheap because he uses a similar type of font.

well at least they fixed the post editing issue. honestly, the guys at IPB fix one ting and break something else. I have no idea what is causing this, I reset all the skins to make sure it works, and this is why we all are now stuck with this mostly blue default skin. I wanted to try changing to another software a while back but just don't have the funds to buy a license for vbulletin. IPB sucks and I wish I could fix it but I honestly have no idea how they program this thing these days. I'm sure it uses ajax or something and that is completely over my head.

at the end of the day he is wrong. none of us have ever or will ever charge for translations. we merely make sure people are paying for the manga. whole different story. also, we tried for years to increase interest in guyver and most people just don't want to know. whilst it is true that increasing interest in a manga is good for the manga's continuation as it helps the publishers,,, giving it away for free was clearly not helping in the case of guyver. it took us about 8 years to figure that out.

Why Doesn't Online Dating Ever Work?
Thanks for clarifying. personally, I think dating websites are a mistake. anyone going there is playing with fire. you could get lucky, but for the most part, it changes your perception. for some men it is like being in a candy store. they are able to look at pictures of girls smiling and looking open and friendly. there is no body language and the woman is not able to remove herself from his gaze. this kind of guy can easily fantasize about the girl and in many cases reduced to an object. This has been the majority of my experience, I have been spoken to in shocking ways. men who have straight up asked if they could come round to my house. when I've only exchanged one message with them. the knock on effect from this is that any women on dating sites will become guarded. this can set of a chain reaction where the men who are actually serious can become very weary and then they will resort to the tactic of messaging scores of women at the same time with a standard impersonal message. just to get a bite. the women who are willing to read these messages can see that it's just a stock message and that there is no effort and don't see any point answering it. As I said though, you could get lucky. but luck is the key ingredient. honestly, I think I'd rather test my luck on the lottery. by the way, this is even before we take into account that these sites have algorithms to change how often they display real accounts as opposed to time wasters. they are playing their customers. sincerely.... do not go to dating websites. go out and carry on with your hobby. go to new places, start new courses, night classes, whatever. the best way to meet somebody who is genuine, is to keep out of the dating 'game'. because it is a game. and it is played by players. I should probably mention that I have never been in a relationship. you have. I know that doesn't help you right now, but you should use that as a bolster to your self confidence. self confidence is important. you just have to focus on something you are good at. when you are good at something and you succeed at it, you become filled with confidence about that thing. this is what will make a girl interested. let's say for example, the subject matter were.. maybe something that is considered very geeky. like magic the gathering. I don't consider it a bad thing, but it is seen as a geeky thing by many people. I knew a guy who was very good at magic the gathering and he knew it and he was very confident. he had thick glasses and his teeth were crooked. but his confidence made him very attractive.
