ha ha yeah, have you seen the misfits? good series. well i agree with that. I think that real personal beliefs is simply us trying to make sense of the things we have experienced and are in no doubt about. like your experience, you can't pretend it didn't happen, you just need to make sense of it. on one hand, if it is sleep paralysis, you are powerless against it. on the other hand if it is astral projection, you can surely find ways to train yourself to control it. I can give you a website to look at and you can decide for yourself if it is crazy talk or if it has some good basis. I believe that a major factor in human health and fitness is willpower. you are surely very familiar with this concept. even if a person believed they could astral project and they could control it, and if a doctor was in no doubt that it was sleep paralysis, but the persons confidence in their own ability allowed them to overcome it, then that belief is their personal cure and i think it doesn't matter what the doctor thinks or whether it is 'factual' or not.

have you looked into astral travel? there are many things in this world that are considered unconventional but have no way to prove existence or non existence. I wouldn't want you to be scared of something that may actually be a blessing.

game design! heh heh, i guess you could say I am mostly interested in shape and place. I like to arrange things and create a sort of story and history. I really love minecraft and I have created a huge castle in that, but i found that it was keeping me from falling asleep so I haven't touched it for a while. I like using the source development kit. I like to arrange the environments but I'm not too keen on the details. the background fluff. i guess if you called me teh level designer then the artist would come in after and make it all pretty. but my work is mostly functional in nature,. I like to leave traps and surprises for people to find. I always enjoy giving my work to my friend to play, and watching him try to figure it out and get surprised by my little tricks XD programming does come into it a little but i couldn't get too bogged down with it all. it is so much stuff to learn and remember. I can understand it and i can work with code but the finer aspects will always be too fiddly for me.
  4. hmm, i decided to add more about numbers. the counter is like in english, we say first second third fourth fifth, i.e. the numers is modified by adding something in most circumstances. i'm not saying that this english example above is a counter, I'm saying this is how they are modified. but in english we say one pencil, two pencils, three pencils etc. in japanese, it is ippon enpitsu, nihon enpitsu, sanbon enpitsu etc. ippon is a contraction of ichi-hon and so on. anyway since i said about 1st, 2nd 3rd 4th etc, to say these, ichibanme, nibanme, sanbanme. which is a combination of number, ban is a counter for rank, and me is eye, so it is like saying, '#1 seen item'. people - hitori, futari, sannin, yonnin, gonin, rokunin, etc for book objects - ichisatsu, nisatsu, sansatsu, etc for long objects - ippon, nihon, sanbon, yonhon, gohon, etc you can look up the rest yourself but when i first came across these it was confusing for me.
  5. i'll give the numbers. 一二三四五六七八九十 ichi ni san shi go roku shichi hachi kyuu juu or shi is sometimes yon, shichi is sometimes nana. because shi is also 'death' this brings me to something i noticed recently. shinigami, is combination of shi and kami. kami being god. while i'm breaking down words, I'll bring this one to the table. o tsukaresama deshita お疲れ様でした a phrase often said after a hard days work. sometimes shortened to otsukaresama or even tsukaresama. breakdown as follows, o is a sign of reverence for the following subject. as in ocha, revered tea. the adjective that follow is tsukarete, which means tired, this is modified to tsukaresama which when we consider the suffix -sama meaning a respected person, we are basically saying, oh revered tired person. then deshita is the past tense conjugation for a verb so basically saying, we have been revered tired people, or essentially meaning, we worked really well. it's basically saying 'good work', a pat on the back. durendal feel free to add anything if i haven't explained sufficiently.

i meant digital video recorder, like a set top box. no way i'd use DVR dvd's. too much hassle I have a vcr and i think it would work fine if i plug a digital box through it. though, I think the technology is too old and I wouldn't feel comfortable using it. yeah i could currently watch those programs on my pc without a separate monitor, but my monitor space is limited since i have to use a HDMI cable and it only allows 720p. I don't have an ideal setup but it is quite good considering i am not getting a good regular income. anyway, if i wanted to watch tv on my computer screen, it would mean shrinking my other windows that i wish to work in, I don't give programs my full attention, I always watch them with about 30% of my attention. then i do something more worthwhile with my other 70%. like playing games.. nah, i mean like doing some japanese study or game design or colouring work or whatever.

durendal, I think it would be nice to have that high a degree, alas my level is below that. i could be called bachelor, but i do not have the organisational and writing skills to pass a masters degree. so that is 2 off a doctorate steel, yeah i have been looking at ways of recording shows. i went to town yesterday to look for a DVR but they are very expensive. i figured out i can actually get a cable to attach my computer to another screen and i can then play on demand tv from the tv stations while i work. a workable compromise.

yeah there is, in the datafile. anyway, there is not any referencing involved really. it's just a matter of tracing the original image, and then adapting the resulting lines to a more simple style. i did consider saving the high resolution image of this but i guess i did not do it. it would look just like takayas image but with a lot of the smaller lines merged and a fair few lines removed. also some of the smaller but important lines are drawn in a shade in between purple and black to give the impression of being thinner.

I had an appointment today so i didn't think i would get any work done, but i made time to do some work and was very pleased to do 2.5 hours work. I've realised that the character i am working on is rather complex and is proving more work than past pages. I'd like to take less time on this but i also want the quality to be good. well it looks good anyhow. also, I recently did some studying into colour balance so i am particularly pleased with the colours i have used. did some more research into tefl qualifications and learned that the best qualification for english teaching is CELTA which is certified by cambridge. Apparently the CELTA qualification course is run by west cheshire college which is about 25 minutes away by bus. it costs £1050 and is one day per week for 6 months. I think it sounds good so if i can get £1050 then i will definitely apply for it. I'm working on a website which is like a noticeboard for my towns community. with potential for advertising, it could turn into a good business venture. i have to let the website get good traffic first though. and very soon i hope to get started on my patent applications for my inventions. one of which, I may potentially work with super existence on if he is interested. though I have not spoken to him about it yet because of the patent issue.

hey man, we all care what you have to say about the matter. that's the whole point
  11. mirabilis, i disapprove strongly of cruel jokes like that. it is disrespectful of other people. the snake was not dead and gave me a fright, i did not find it funny and i did not appreciate it. not entirely your fault, you did not make the video but please warn us if posting something that may cause upset. ---------- xfool, that video was so funny, i was a bit worried at first, i thought they were abusing the bear, but i see they were making it braver !
  12. personally, I feel it is always about communication. if 2 people are able to communicate clearly about what they think and feel then i am sure they can always find a common ground. i find that when there has been problems in my past, it has been down to bad communication. one time, i know this sounds weird, it was like i was the chick and she was the dude. she just was interested in sex and i only wanted to be her friend. anyway, she kept quiet about this and pretended she liked doing the things i liked doing. i thought i had a good friend but all i had was a liar that wasn't interested in me for my personality.
  13. thats pretty awesome. i wonder how a 3 way weave would work. never seen that. i think.
  14. i'll see that tri loom, that will be cool. i want to know what it looks like.
  15. it's not raining here but we got the typical cloud cover making for a very dull day. well we are to the east of the mountains so the clouds have emptied by the time they get over us. most of the time. it's very cold, we have the central heating on most of the day now.
  16. also think about colour balance. i think the anime was pretty poor with colour balance actually so i messed around with that screenshot a bit. I'm wondering where you got the green from? i never saw guyver 2 have green on him. as far as i remember.

thank you steel, that was the best advice anyone has given me. I've been struggling with my sleep patter for literally years. your advice has given me the perfect answer. setting my alarm for a certain time and then denying myself permission to change it, works an absolute treat. I feel a bit upset about not being able to watch the tv programs that i used to... I need to find a way to deal with that. I like king of the hill, but it starts at midnight. if i stay up to watch that, I will never get a decent nights sleep. i think i need to get a dvr. well during the past week, my sleeping is more like i wanted it to be. I've been ill a few times so it's not always been plain sailing, some days i have set my alarm an hour later instead, but then aimed to set it earlier afterwards. currently it is set at 10 am and i think it is more than a week since it was after 12. so I have actually been seeing the mornings and that is a miracle in itself. I'd like to have it set for 8 am constantly but i need to figure out how to set a schedule and to see the tv programs i enjoy. during the day, the tv is terrible. so now i have actually been able to start doing some work. yesterday, I did some essential work on a website i am developing. this is career stuff so very important, i have been slacking off for way too long on that one. now there is some other important work for a client. this work could potentially be done quite quickly, but i need to find the time slot to actually do it. i feel bad because i promised this work ages ago and i have been tardy. hopefully i can do it soon. tomorrow is a busy day as mondays always are so hopefully tuesday is my day for that. i need to earn the funds from that work anyway because he website i am developing needs hosting and a domain name registration. so it is most certainly a high priority.
  18. I don't completely agree. there's that phrase opposites attract. the essence of that being that if people have many differences, they have a lot to talk about. being able to relate is important, but i think that is more about maturity and methods of communication rather than having the same experiences. if you had both done exactly the same things through your life, you won't have anything to share. the most interesting people for me, are people from other cultures. that's part of the joy i get from teaching english. but i think it does depend on what you want from a relationship as well. i guess similar experiences can bring about a sense of comfort.
  19. or sparrow, since the kanji used for kujaku uses the kanji for sparrow. jaku. (suzume)
  20. bobby where did you get that magazine scan from please?
  21. ha ha that was brilliant!! I love the bit when he does steam train and it is just like dragonball. oh and another response to fearless.
  22. the most beautiful advert for seatbelts i have ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjWufx3fenc
  23. it is a similar style isn't it, sort of machinery like, compared to kamen rider ooo which is not so machinery like.
  24. many people partake in sexual activity before the age of consent. people start exploring as soon as puberty starts. some do the full thing, some just play around. but in most cases it is kept within the peer group and is with consent, legality be damned. I would say, if a child is not old enough to understand what the other person wants, then they are too young. but as soon as the child becomes an adolescent, they are understanding these things. they are going to do it no matter what. and even if a person over 18 is afraid to go to prison, 2 people under the age of consent are not even thinking about the law. because they aren't old enough to be held responsible so they just do what they want. it's difficult for the man, because there is a lot of influence from the hormones at younger ages. i think if a girl is not old enough to make the decision, she should not be able to go into any situation where she is vulnerable. it doesn't make much sense. anyway, i think the best thing you can do is break it off before it's too late. these kinds of relationship are about one thing at the end of the day. if she's not old enough for sex, she's not old enough for romance. and that means you're just playing with fire. i won't advise staying with her if you have strong feelings because quite frankly, i am well aware that it is very hard to distinguish between feelings in some situations. I don't know how experienced you are, but if she is your first, then it is always going to be a strong feeling. even though i can accept that i was not in love with my first girlfriend, I cannot shake the strength of the infatuation. if i was with her now, I think the feelings would be just as strong. now, to address what i believe about age difference, a couple years ago, I 'knew' a cougar. I would say that age shouldn't matter as long as you can make a connection. sometimes older women are more experienced, sometimes not. many people say that older women are always more experience, but don't be fooled. there are some older women who may even be a virgin. well nuns are for sure. anyway, what i would say is that older women are generally more friendly. not always of course, but i think the age means that they have a lot of life experience and mellow a bit. younger girls can have very high expectations and can be very pompous. older women know what to expect so actually, if you do an especially good job, they will appreciate it more. more satisfying for all involved. hmm, not sure about younger girls. I don't really like young girls myself. if a girl was 10 years younger than me, I think i wouldn't be able to get along with her. if its a question of do i think it is right... I think any age difference is fine as long as it's legal. well i also think the law is wrong. i think law should fit morality closer. instead of fitting the morality of over protective fathers, it should fit the morality of all people, adolescents included.
  25. thanks kenji that really brought back some memories. here is a video, thanks to v-guyver this is also in response to the fearless video above.
