*Jess♥ Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 bad decision to go with a real human for apocalypse. bad, bad decision. i guess they wanted to favour a good performance by the actor....... Stupid Stupid people. it just looks mediocre at best. Apocalypse was consistently a giant. in all the animation or comics I have seen, apocalypse was always at least 7 foot tall. and 3 feet wide. I've watched every marvel cinematic universe movie in the cinema.i give them my moneys because they make things look proper.this movie won't get my monies.I doubt i'd even want to watch this via a torrent site.don't even want to give it the time of day. That being said, Apocalypse is still supposed to be a human/mutant, and having him extremely large wouldn't make sense in the context of the movie. Like How Colossus is also suppose to be huge... it just doesn't make sense in the real world. Things do NOT have to be comic accurate. Or Hugh Jackman would never have been Wolverine. Even Marvel has made slight changes to characters because of practicality/realism. It's up to the studios to try and make things work. A 8-10 foot tall character walking around just isn't practical, or very real. Fanboy/girl-ism is that last thing this movie genre needs. ----- Anyway. I thought the trailer looks pretty decent. Showed off some cool bits and characters, while teasing the plot. I know I will be going to see it in the theaters. And I thought the tease at the end was slightly uncalled for in the first trailer... But still kind of nice. 2 Quote
*Jess♥ Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I dunno, was I harsh? I wasn't trying to be super harsh. but anyhow, while i like hugh jackman, I hated him as wolverine.I personally always feel like these movies look down on the comic books. like in the first movie, they said "what do you expect, blue and yellow spandex?"in first class, it seemed like they lost that arrogance and embraced the comics. but this movie looks like they are becoming arrogant again and looking down on the comics. that's just the feeling I get from it.I don't read teh comics or anything, I only had one or two when i was little, but I think that characters need a certain amount of respect. I mean, just look at the hulk in avengers. I really don't think it's asking a lot for a character to be an appropriate size. Quote
*guyverfan Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 that trailer looks really interesting, obviously we're back with the first class era, plus acouple of years forward. don't forget, apocalypse had the ability to shrink down and also grow, which it looks like they've kept in the movie from acouple of those scenes in the trailer. i actually like the look of him, kind of reminds me of the jenie in wishmaster! Salkafar Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I don't mind it. Making Apocalypse as huge as he is in the comics - which he is - might take away from the impact when he does become huge. (Also, did anyone complain when Wolverine was much too tall?). I have to say, so far I am somewhat more hopeful than before. Quote
Guyver1 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 It looks like it should be great! Glad to see Nightcrawler back. Quote

As far as costumes go, Psylocke is hands down comic perfect, and the trailer does show Apocalypse changing size. AND SMEGGING ARCHANGEL. 1 Quote
*Jess♥ Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 maybe it's because of the crappy week I've been having.... well I have been thinking about this. I can't remember who said it but somebody mentioned Apocalypses intellect. now this is part of the character I really have no clue about. I've always thought of him as a behemoth but maybe this just shows my ignorance and he is actually much much more than his physical stature. I am surely a victim of my nostalgia goggles. I remember something from my childhood and as vague and fuzzy as it is, I hold onto it dearly. but having considered what was said about his intellect... I think I have no idea what this film will actually be like. similar to days of future past, it's difficult to gauge from the trailer alone. So I will do the same as I did with that one. I'll wait and see how people respond to it. and if it has really good reputation then I might go to watch it in the theatre. Quote
*guyverfan Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 his interlect is supposedly the greatest in the world with a vast knowledge of the universe from when he came across an ancient space craft which belonged to the celestials. who were the first beings in the universe. from what i can remember, he had mutulated his own body to that he has now which includes being half cyborg, made from alien tech. not long ago someone mentioned that its an actual suit that he wears but from the anime&comics long ago, i'm sure said that he's half cyborg? Salkafar Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Apocalypse is a sort of meta-mutant. His original mutation seems to be shapeshifting, but he was also an X-ternal (the Eternals are a race of immortals; the Celestials took proto-humanity, about a million years before, and changed them into three groups: the Deviants, genetically unstable people who often look monstrous, but have an advanced society and dominated humanity for a long time until they were driven underground; the Eternals, who are immortal and possess god-like powers, but who are very few in number and live in the high places of the world; and humans, who seem unassuming, but have the potential to develop superpowers to surpass even the Eternals. We call such people 'mutants'. Some of the mutants are immortal, and are called X-ternals). He discovered an alien ship buried on Earth and claimed it for his own; it changed him into something which was not just a mutant anymore, or even just an X-ternal. Apocalypse's power is to change into pretty much anything he wants, organic or cybernetic; it's complete control over his body's molecules. Apparently he can also increase his mass, like Giant-Man or the Hulk. He can also transfer his essence into new bodies; in the distant future, approximately the 40th century, he has become an old, wizened shell who has to change bodies more and more often, because he's burning them out. That might be where the image of Apocalypse in an armor comes from: This is what he originally looked like, in his misspent youth, 5000 years ago: Interestingly, En Sabah Nur is currently once again incarnated - proving he cannot be permanently killed; he's just reborn - but as a boy, Evan, whose sheltered upbringing actually makes him pretty much the opposite of what Apocalypse is. 2 Quote
Super Existence Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Couldn't agree with Jess more regarding the look of Apocalypse, they screwed him up beyond belief. Bryan Singer has the worst taste in design especially when there are people out there doing fantastic interpretations of Apocalypse. 2 Quote
LordSpleach Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 At least the trailer shows they've improved the design. Quote
H222G981 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 X-Men keeps getting better and better. I'm over joyed with excitement. Quote
Gazham Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I used to struggle to keep the original stories out of my mind when I watch the movies. I wish they could just animate the actual stories, but I know that will/can't happen. I try to take them as they are given and just enjoy it. The last 2 x-men films have been enjoyable , I'm hoping this one follow suit. Quote
*guyverfan Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 i have to say that i was really dissapointed with this movie. they had a good storyline, i loved apocalypse, i just feel they needed to go darker with it, and really have tryed not to have made every scene seem to have been filmed in a studio. one thing for sure, is that they've opened it up for another dark phoenix and have read that the next wolverine movie will be set in the near future with an Rrating. I don't think you were the only one who felt that way. It received mixed reviews from critics. It currently holds a 51% score on rotten tomatoes. 32 minutes ago, guyverfan said: one thing for sure, is that they've opened it up for another dark phoenix and have read that the next wolverine movie will be set in the near future with an R rating. Salkafar Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 48% on Rotten Tomatoes. 73% of the viewers liked it. And now "Warcraft" seems doomed, too... Quote
jerrygoodman Posted May 30, 2016 Author Posted May 30, 2016 I liked the movie. My only real complaint...it needed more Psylocke. 1 Quote
xfool Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 (edited) decent enough but not as good as days of future past, my only gripe is the part where they killed Magneto wife and kid, didnt realise his wife is dead since he only hold his daughter after being hit by the arrow, then later the news mention his wife and child are among the casualties I m like wtf how she died? how the hell does a half drawn wooden arrow (without any metal components) penetrate so deep that killed both mother and child, seriously??? ROUGE Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Since Apocalypse is in it was there any mention of Cable or Bishop as well? I feel like Bishop and his sister Shard should have at least been in Days Of Future Pasts, since they have access to advanced technology and are from the another timeline. I have not read any of the comics but If I remember Correctly they have appeared a few times during the original 90's cartoon, to help them fight off the Sentinels, as well as Apocalypse numerous times, who was destroying their timeline with his army. I am glad to see Psylocke in this though. Quote
LordSpleach Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Bishop is in Days of Future's Past, and see Deadpool about Cable. Quote
