Cannibal Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 New chapter is out, this month as usual - 16 pages. http://unit-g.sakura.ne.jp/ Title page scan: http://s017.radikal....780d400d1f0.jpg quick edit: wait a second, do we have a cover page for the 29 tankobon here in the lower right corner? *Jess♥ Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 certainly looks that way wow, the shops must have just opened in Japan! oh and what a title..... "Advents, Come flying!!" edit: though according to alphard, there is merely a continuation of tetsuro an mizuki talking. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Really looking forward to reading this chapter. Quote
daveblackeye152 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Slightly bummed we already saw the book cover a few issues ago. Hopefully we get a few answers or a neat surprise this chapter. I mean yeah we gotta have slow chapters to build up to the next big fight or else the pace would be crappy but I'm hoping. Quote
alkanfel009 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I want to live in a place like this I like the island of alkanphel Quote
*Jess♥ Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 oh cool, is it ready? yes, I just checked. the chinese guys have released it. uploadig to server now :- [guyver]29_-_chapters_for_next_volume/1210[/guyver] Quote
jerrygoodman Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 So...they're on the Isle...oh boy... Quote
Salkafar Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) Thanks, you guys. 1 - Are we ever gonna get a final date on just when the Advents landed on Earth? Only single-celled organisms, but including eukaryotes, suggests a date between two and one billion years ago. But if they only left about a hundred thousand years ago, that means they stayed here at least hundreds of millions of years! What kind of war lasts that long?! 2 - Oh boy, indeed. Stuck on the isle with... lessee, the only predator I actually saw was the werewolf. I suppose he could be dangerous. But if he's a sort of proto-Zoanoid, he might be reasonable enough in human form. Then there's Pan and the fairy, who seemed friendly... I just hope the mermaids won't try to drag Tetsuro to a watery grave. Did we see any predatory dinosaurs? 3 - The island doesn't seem very large. Two to three miles, I think... On the other hand, it looks like they can seen the curvature of the Earth from where they are standing..! If the island is as small as it seems to be, how can those animals survive for so long out there? We saw a herd of brachiosaurs... they'd deforestate an island that small much more quickly than it could possibly replenish itself. Hmmm. Do the animals also sleep when Archanfel does? Super Existence Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 The problem with the Advents is the same one as Prometheus. A massively advanced advancing very little over a million year period. Even if they advanced only a hundred thousand years they would be unrecognisable from when they first arrived. Quote
Cannibal Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) I think the text on that small 29 tankobon's cover says: "The Unexpected Guests" (but it is blurry, so I'm not sure). The next chapter should be expected next month. ---- I just hope the mermaids won't try to drag Tetsuro to a watery grave. Edited August 25, 2012 by Cannibal Quote
Bio-Boosted Dude Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 What a shame that this chapter only re-affirmed what we figured out last month, that they're on Silha. I suppose I can be thankful that he only spent a few pages recounting the history of the Advents' first arrival though. Quote

Even if they advanced only a hundred thousand years they would be unrecognisable from when they first arrived. evolution and cultural development etc, technological advances only happen when there is a need for it. in idealogical societies, where there is no challenge and where things start to run like clockwork, the rate of change will slow to a crawl. if the creators won their war or if the war ended, their civilisation would have changed little. our civilisation changes rapidly because there is a drive for it. but when people start to become comfortable with their situation, they cease to evolve. or evolve very slowly. take a look at the Amish as a good example. since the advents chose to evolve life on earth in order to fight their war, it's possible their culture stagnated and they found themselves unable to adapt or change quickly. so they chose to recruit a form of life that is evolving quickly. it's also possible that their kind of war is completely different from ours. perhaps their wars are more like a cold war. perhaps there was no actual fighting. perhaps the war was the speed with which they could develop a strong slave race. LordSpleach Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Nice, maybe we can get some new revelations on Murakami. Quote
Salkafar Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 it seems to be about 30 miles across. [guyver]Visual_data_files/01/13[/guyver] Hmmmm... An area that's 800 miles square... forty by twenty miles.... Considering the shape of the island, it would have to be at least eighty miles long to have that surface area, making the mountain about ten miles tall. I just don't think so. Could it be 800 acres? Quote
Guest Uziel Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) I have also noticed the earth curvature.. eeheh btw.. next chapter could be about sho or agito... we have seen sho at Aso's place after the battle but we don't know what happened to agito and griselda... and the control medallion information exchange? there are still a lot of open questions... Considering the shape of the island, it would have to be at least eighty miles long to have that surface area, making the mountain about ten miles tall. I just don't think so. Could it be 800 acres? we already corrected for 800 square miles rather than 800 miles. it says 'area of the island' so it is a reasonable assertion. but acres is a blatant switcharoo. I doubt Takaya-sensei could make such a mistake. it could be possible that the area of the island represented by 800 sq-miles is the area reaching out to just past the vortexes. I think we could safely make that stretch. but... I am really unsure about your 8:1 ratio there... while I used a circle to convert the area, I think your 2:1 ratio was more sensible. 40 miles by 20 miles seems more reasonable for the shape. I think we can count the bay as being within the boundaries of the island. if we were to take into account the possible distances of the giant vortexes I think we could potentially whittle the size of the island to about 10 miles across? but I think that's pretty liberal. it's tough, because the number doesn't tally with what we see. I'd say it could be a typo, but the same figure is in the manga and the VDF. Quote

Possibly but the human race has an exponential curve of technology which is doubling every year so there is no reason to believe the advents wouldn't have the same. I think if there was a time shift of somekind involved it would have made more sense to me say they lived outside of linear time time so a week to them was millions of years to us, etc. That would make more sense to me. *Jess♥ Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I was thinking of that too. but I don't think it's necessarily due to time travel. I was thinking what if a consciousness had a body that was artificially altered to allow the awareness to gear down when nothing much is happening. not necessarily sleep, but a slowed cognition. about our technology curve, we have a driving force. or perhaps a few driving forces. our ability to live on this planet safely is one driving force. we have yet to master the environment or find a way to escape it should the worst happen. then there is re-settling. we have yet to find a world that could support us, or find a way to make a world support us. in terms of survival, our vulnerability drives us. but when we get to a stage where technologically, we could survive the total destruction of our planet, what would the species strive for? what would be our driving force for our invention. if necessity is the mother of invention, without any necessity... our technology development will slow. Quote
Super Existence Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I like that idea were they almost go into time stasis in between waiting for results but what does knacker that idea is what about the home world and the war which is always brewing. Unless when they went back home they went back to the 'Time' they left. Almost like our planet was a time stasis laboratory they went to. I think our driving force will only have to propel us for another few decades. Any further development then comes from the creation of a sufficiently powerful AI. Many scientists have now said when we develop a self aware self replicating computer that can improve on it's successors, it will be the last invention we will have to make as it will take up the mantle of generating new technological breakthroughs without our interference. This deserves a topic of it's own I could ream off on exponential technology trends till the cows come home! 1 Quote
river_chaos Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Ahhh! Another cliff hanger!!!! At least we know for certain they're on Sihla now. I guess it's safe to assume that Imakarum or Alky is Apollon now? Anyone got any idea as to what Mizuki and Tetsuro are saying while they're looking at the mural? Quote
Raius Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Man, from the Ark, to the mansion to Archanfel's temple. Apollon is just straight trollin' everybody, isn't he? Still, I wonder if he's trying to speed up a confrontation between Sho and Archanfel with this latest kidnapping. Perhaps this was ordered by the Creators for another experiment; to see how their original Zoalord measures up to the current evolution of Guyver. Whatever the case, I can't wait to see who appears next. Quote
