xfool Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Currently I am waiting to watch Tokyo Ghoul. Been a while since I saw a good horror series. its not really horror, its more of a dark fantasy. currently on ALDNOAH.ZERO at first glance it kinda seem similar to code gaess with the evil empire being the enemy but its quite different , for instance the protagonist use far inferior mecha against the enemy which is powered by a superior technology. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfFGYN1KdzY Edited September 18, 2014 by xfool Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 http://www.japan-legend.com/forum/index.php/topic/7912-kamen-rider/?p=88459 you watch fairy tail yuki? off topic but is it your first time watching? how do you find the series so far? feel free to post it on the anime discussion thread, if there is any.yep, I've never watched it before. I couldn't rewatch such a long series! I tried watching it a long time ago but I found it to be lame and not different enough from Naruto. More recently I was just looking at different manga on my phone, just for kicks while on the train or something. I found Fairytail manga to be quite engaging, nice art and good story telling. I also realised that the main protagonist was not Natsu, but Lucy. I can really appreciate a lead female character in a story that has action and comedy and depth. Also, Lucy is like a real girl, not some fake fan service. she likes girly things and also can be boisterous and not shallow at all and I can really relate to her. So I decided to watch the anime because I can get through it quicker. The beginning parts were still quite lame. not keen on the opening story lines and I could take it or leave it, but now I got past the story on Galuna island with Gray's back story. This makes me feel very differently about the show now. The world is taking on more form and the characters are richer. 1 Quote
odin Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 I'm glad you gave it a second chance, honestly it is becoming one of my favorite animes, I love fantasy related stuff where magic is involved so this is a perfect series for me since the last one i saw (magi) did not hold up for me for some reason, most characters are likable, comedy is gold and you love to hate the villains, I hope you have a good time watching this series. 1 Quote
durendal Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Fairy Tale has a fairly good story and strong characters. Erza particularly is one of my favorite characters. You have to admire her fighting strength to the point where sometimes I'm beginning to think that she's the Deus Ex machina. I've never seen her lose a fight. Ever. Additionally, I'm currently watching Akame Ga Kill. The atmosphere seems light but it's about assassins so expect a lot of killing. Didn't expect to like it much, but I'm already reading the Manga just to find out what happens next. Although the concept seems formulaic, it's interesting to see how the characters interact. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Is it anything like Death Note? That was really gripping.yeah when I first watched Fairytail it was intended as a replacement for Naruto when Naruto came to filler stories. wrong reason to watch. It is similar to Naruto in ways but it is very much it's own thing. Quote
durendal Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Not really, Akame ga Kill is basically about a country boy wanting to make it big in the capital. Chance encounters made him decide to join the assassin group, where he gets the idea of killing for justice. It has some light comedy, and the violence is somewhat toned down. But it does involve a lot of death considering their profession being assassins. It's not ultra violent like Attack on Titan, and it's not so cutesy like countless other harem anime. It's also not dead serious like death note. The premise also involves imperial arms. Weapons that have special abilities. Quote
durendal Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Added Gundam Build Fighter Try to the list as well as Reconguista in G or whatever it's called. I prefer the Try Fighters. Quote
LordSpleach Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I'm definitely watching Gundam Build Fighter Try too. I tried watching G-Reco(the nickname I've seen) for the first five episode, but the lack of coherent logic in the main character really threw me off. Quote
durendal Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Also catching up on Valvrave the Liberator. Chanced this on Animax while traveling and was intrigued by it. I wonder why I didn't pick it up when it was still airing. It has all the signs that I liked in a mecha anime. Quote
RazorLaser Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Started and finished Tokyo Ghoul in 2 days, last week. What started off good, ended really, really badly! That last episode sucked! Quote

Matt Bellamy Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Let's see... What am I currently watching this season... Gundam Build Fighters Try - Definitely not as good as season 1... But has had its moments. Garo - Despite some issues with a character or two, its still keeping itself interesting. Aldnoah Zero Season 2 - Continueing from Season 1... Damn the space version of the Slepnir is sexy... Nanatsu No Taizai - Was reading the Manga. World Trigger - Was reading the mangas Next season looks like a large lack of mecha... But a few decent looking fantasy shows... Heroic Legend of Arslan - Another retelling of the older story... But this time the animation style is based on Fullmetal Alchemists artist ( who is doing the manga), so it should be worth checking out. Is it Wrong to Try and Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? - I really never knew the title translated into that! Am reading the manga for it, and it is a nice little Fantasy adventure. I just hope they don't "over fanservice" it like some studios tend to do... Ninja Slayer from Animation - VERY stylized show... Whose style is best put as: "A Japanese novel trying to look like an American novel trying to look like a Japanese novel based on cyberpunk and martial arts OAVs from the '80s and '90s." Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin - Kind of disappointed that they are going to OAV route with it... But I guess we'll take what we can get. Suisei no Gargantia - In my mind, more Gargantia = Good, even if it is just OAV eps... An image of the upcoming season of anime has been included. Quote
Mirabilis Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I thought Gundam the Origins wasn't released yet and was scheduled for this spring? Quote
H222G981 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I've never laid eyes on Tokyo Goul before. I can only imagine its an anime that I'm missing out on. Honest though. I haven't moved past my 3 all time favorites. Rahxephon Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor Ghost In The Shell: Seasons 1 and 2. I've yet to see Ghost In The Shell: Rise, but I can wait. Quote
durendal Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Since they are re-animating Arslan, I do hope they finish the story this time. Or at least end on a satisfying part of the story. Quote
*guyverfan Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 ocassionally watching 'i couldn't become a superhero so i reluctantly decided to get a job'. 7 episodes in so far and most of it's hilarious. Quote
durendal Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Here's something new and recent. Assassination Classroom. Was actually curious about the manga and read it. So far I am enjoying it. Think of it like something similar to GTO, but instead of a gangster for a teacher and delinquents for the students, you get an "Alien Octopus" for a teacher and an outcast for the students. And the way they learn the basics of life is through the use of assassination. Very interesting. Quote
durendal Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Damn, Aldnoah Zero. Not only was the series good, but the soundtrack is something I can listen to repeatedly. Although I found the ending to be wanting. Feels like they rushed it. Quote
Cannibal Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Finished Dragon Ball Z. Majin Buu is my fav character in this show now. Healed the blind boy then made him drink a milk made of human and destroyed some random city right after that  Quote
