i have one of the raws of these tv series features including Takaya speaking, im sure advocay was going to subtitle it at one point but it didnt end up being done, it was quite a while ago. the one i got from here that was going to be subbed was about 15 min, but it would be good to just get Takaya's bit subbed though.

yeah i managed to watch the movie before episodes 43 and 44 and im glad i did because... also i just want to say epsode 43 and 44 were AWESOME!! especially ep44 im not sure how many eps are left but if they keep going like this then i'll forgive them for wrapping up that story line earlier. i want another 6 eps like this!!!

good ideas lost unit. are you looking for ideas or artwork ryuki?

nice work on the newer covers dude. i especially like the none comedic japanese one... im even tempted to do some editing on it and change my avatar a little, seeing as it has the same pic on it. hmm probably cant be bothered though! i find the german ones quite funny - whats with all the zoanoids in b boy stances? its just too funny. and it doesnt make sense Guyver was the main emphasis of the movie not soe muppet looking monsters! what were the marketing people thinking??? Also i just wanted to say how cool the ADV covers are, as i had only seen a few before as i have the manga collected set, but im impressed with the amount of effort they put in - especially to give double sided covers! nice.
-
no problem dude! i posted the first 3 just because i thought they might be of interest... especially the japanese guyver vhs cover, it looks kind of funny it would be cool if we got a big scan of that.
-
'' i guess, it doesnt have the skill to make a decent meal '' thanks guys.
-
im not sure if all of these pictures exactly qualify because they are not all scans, but... the first is just a cover from a magazine and the second is of the japanese guyver / mutronics VHS...3rd a german mutronics poster - maybe over time someone could provide the scans if they have the items? the last is an actual scan that i did of the out of control vhs that i used to have

i dont get why you think that no english translation would equal a publishing company starting to release Guyver??where are you getting this idea from??? the last graphic novel Viz released was in november 1997 chuang yi , not even a western publisher, tried and got stopped by kadakowa, so....?... since then like i said the prime time to have started to publish Guyver for any compnay would have been around 2007/8 when the tv series was released in english. that was four years ago. so why if the advocacy stopped would a company all of a sudden decide to start publishing it??? the thing is even a company did publish Guyver in english any time soon. where would they start?? - most probably at the beginning!! that means 30 books to be translated and released... even at one a month (that would be VERY unlikely) that is over 3 years worth of books,. it would more likely be 2 a year if we were lucky, thats 15 years to catch up to where we are now, 3 a year 10 years, 4 a year around 7 years.... lets say guyver 4's argument was sound, and that the advocacy translations have hindered the chances of an english release in the past, and that the advocacy translations didnt exsist, and a company did try and release it - it would still take 1 to 5years for them to catch up to a point where the story continues from where the tv series left off and in this time sales would have to be steady and profitable to continue... the likely hood of it maintaining sales for 30 books is unlikely. im sorry but it just wont work. many titles dont get fully translated and published for those reasons so the fans just get left with no end to a story... which is crap. ive read a few titles that just get dropped and it sucks. the only loyalty any of us can show to Takaya is to support exisiting merchandise and to but any future merchandise... seeing as none of us really have access to buy shonen ace monthly then the best we can do is buy the tankobons from japan. that way we are not hurting Takaya we are supporting him and his sales and the chances of kadakowa letting him continue and finish the story. as simple as that sounds i think that is the only practical thing that we can do, and to encourage that we need at least a translation. this notion that guyver advocacy has hurt the chances of an english publication is bullshit. viz gave it up 15 years ago no one bothered 4 years ago. chuang yi got stopped or couldnt continue. anyone getting the message???..... thats why advocacy bothers because if they dont no one would.

when it comes down to it Ryuki it is not your job to promote guyver in the western world, you have no obligation to do so and i think you should take G4's comments with a pinch of salt having the story translated thus far is not harming the Guyver or hindering the publication possibility, it pains me to say this but i think any chance of it ever being published in english went with the 2005 tv series that was the perfect time for it to get picked up but alas it did not. does this now mean that you would stop Ryuki? if someone said i can 100% guarantee you Guyver will not be published in the west - would you shut down JL and stop the scanlations /translations?? why should you? to not transltae the manga would just be silly as nobody would benefit from it. i wouldnt buy the tankobons if i couldnt understand them, and people would be upset without there Guyver fix! also why should we be the only people in the world not to enjoy our favourite manga out of a sense of misplaced / dilusional morality? there are hunderds of manga out there that people scanlate with not asecond thought for IP or a thought of supporting the manga ka or the franchise... guyver fans are different - at least the ones around here are.. i think what we have to remember where we are.....on a forum - in a COMMUNITY As such (usually) Ryuki and Durendal provide a translation. they do that out of a love of the series and a friendship to those people around here, otherwise they could just read it to themselves and not bother about the rest of us.but what good would that do? there would be no japan legend , no community where we can share our otakuness of the Guyver. Guyver is special, its not your average manga, its not picked up by 20 scanlation groups and read by teeny boppers, its special to a lot of us westerners because we had a little taste of it in our youths and hungered for more of it and hunger for the conclusion of the awesome story when hopefully Shou XD smashers Archanfel into oblivion or whatever... without the efforts of Ryuki et al. Guyver would be a distant memory for some of us This is why i would push for a private translation / scanlation. sod everyone else i understand all points made. i think it comes down to if we should treat the translation as a conduit for those people out there who dont know about guyver to get into it or to be just self satisfying and just let our community enjoy it. unfortunately and ultimately only Ryuki can make that decision. either that or just take a chill pill n keep doing what you were doing anyway. i hope none of this forces you to decide to just give up, obviously i selfishly want to keep understanding the Guyver in english but if you do stop then i guess i'll be getting the italian books and trying to do the old translation engine effort. but i do hope it doesnt come to that!!!!!!!! thats it im done good night and happy new year!!!!!!!!!!

they are on the monthly chapters though , they have nothing to do with the collected volumes... why not do what ive done before ... get yourself the tankobon from japan, some tipex / 'whiteout' (i think thats what they call it in the US ????) and the advocacy script and a pen and hours of nothing else better to do and at the end of it you have a physical book in english!! no more computer screens needed - woohoo!

too much put it this way, the original price was 5000 yen i think.
-
yeah it wasnt exactly cheap but ive had my eye on it for years and finally saw it at a ridiculous price rather than a super duper ridiculous price... anyway in answer to your question, no, i wont be adding to my Guyver collection (apart from new tankonbons) as really this is the figure to cap it all off. i have BFC figures, ive had self painted models in the past and gashapons, but im at a point where i have decided that i am not spending anymore £ on figures etc. (except DBZ figuarts - but they only come out a few times a year). So thats why i pushed the boat out on this coolness dont get me wrong, if max factory ever get their finger out and start to release BFC figures again and i was in a position to afford them i would get them (especialy Archanfel and Guyver 2f!!!) but apart from that i'm done. Do you have more Guyver stuff like what you got this christmas? maybe post it in the Guyver collections thread??? http://www.japan-legend.com/forum/index.php/topic/1417-guyver-collections/page-5

vol.21 special version!!!!!! front back spine inside 1st page - ultra cool poseable 1/6 guyver figures!!! look G3 aswell!!!!!! inside back slip cover inside front slip cover - this is hilarious it looks like a takaya muppet puppet or something!!?! anyhing worth reading in the text on Takaya i wonder??
-
so after years of kind of wanting this i went and found one that was priced only twice as much as its worth rather than the one priced at the standard 3 times what its worth!! its great! the only thing is i feel lied to by the picture on the back as it is not articulated . if i had the money, time and could be bothered at the moment then i would love to cut one up and customise it over a 1/6 / 12'' articulated figure to make it moveable. but alas i cant see it ever happening!! heres a comparison shot of it next to a max factory BFC G1 next the 'special version ' vol.21 tankobon....
-
not strictly a christmas present i suppose as i bought it, but to cheer me up a bit i decided to finally get this 1/6 Guyver!! in fact i will start a new topic for this as theres a few pictures i want to post @ http://www.japan-legend.com/forum/index.php/topic/7305-guyver-16-model-and-vol21-special-version/?p=76984

These look awesome! Thanks dude.

I trust Ryuki's judgement so i guess i'll add Ryuki to my deffinately list ! i can see why you would get bored with Blade... it's just its the first Kamen Rider ive watched so i dont know what to excpect really, ive nothing to compare it to. whatever its problems i am finding it a nice change of pace from super sentai, so in that respect its good. i couldnt stand the tacky effects on Tachibana when he's thinking about his fear, but apart from that the effects are ok. once i get another of the series weve discussed i might drop it - i dont know .
-
i think of the ones i havent acquired already i would probably be interested in Faiz, Den-O, Kiva, W and maybe Ryuki. i dont like spoilers so no decade until ive seen the preceding series. i wonder wether i am actually forcing myself to watch Blade though? i am enjoying it now more than before. Before the dude with glasses appeared who levitated and threw fireballs i was ready to give up on it but that totally saved it. its got slightly better but i cant tell if i'm enjoying it as much as i should be!! maybe i should try and get the first eps of these series as that can sometimes give an instant feel of a series, its a bit presumtuous but for example i tried to watch the first ep of Fourze but it just is too 'kiddy' and the KR suit just looks stupid!!

hope you all had a good day and are enjoying the festive season! remember though good days are for life - not just for christmas!!
-
great job Ryuki. thanks so would you say that it is refering to a light beam? or that the remover lights up then sends a pulse out?? (i.e maybe it lights up because of the bio energy fed into it and then it sends out just a pulse wave?? i bet after 4 hours of translation you dont care at the moment !!!!
-
well i want to see the Go-Busters movie, it actually looks quite good!! i just saw the raw has been put up, so how long until some kind people sub it do you reckon??????

@ DVD booklet and 3rd relic!!!!!!!!!!!! great thinking Lordspleach!!, i presume we will find out in about book 35 or so?.... man people keep talking about the booklets... did they only come with the original single disc release of the dvds?? are they included in the economy boxsets at all?? @ the thread topic in the manga translations from chuang yi we have pulsed waves and in the Advocacy version waves being beamed... i dont think the Advocacy has translated the datafile on the unit remover from book 8?? unless i just dont have it?? to be honest i dont think it matters whichever is more accurate...although the illustrations does resemble more a beam than a wave, a beam of light of any description is fundamentally a wave OR a particle anyway- so maybe the unit remover fires photon particles as a beam of light and the CM receieves them and decodes them into EM waves that then resonate together and the unit is instructed to delete the host data. on the Gigantic - if it can block the beam / wave then theres no problem, if however the beam / wave bypasses it , you could say that maybe its a question of the main CM being effected then the unit Gitself disengaging which in turn would disengage the Gigantic??? also i think maybe it depends on the learning ability of the CM... maybe the Gigantic data is stored in Guyvers file or maybe its stored in the hosts / shou's file???without a copy (that Agito now has) of Shous personal file, app or program that he created to create the Gigantic i assume it would be useless. whos to say the remains of the relics wouldnt just revert o being extraterrestrial organic matter and bits of alien metal?? i think going back to Odins original question a bigger question is what exactly is Guyver 2F??????????

well im going to get the teknoman series and see how i go with that. if i get the feeling its been ruined ill try n get the original. i dont even know if i'll like it. even though theres a uk dub ive not really heard of it until these past few years despite the fact it looks quite old. maybe nostalgia is a factor in peoples liking of it if they grew up with it? or maybe its old and a good series like the original guyver oavs??
