well actually that extreme idea was put forth by me , which was inspired by another manga group... but anyway i do believe a less harsher / easier route would be to do the private subforum suggested- perhaps just have a Guyver Advocacy section that is specifically for the monthly chapters and tankobons - leave the vdf and other projects in the public as general guyver info maybe?? if Ryuki does that then maybe those people who will miss the guyver out there who get it elsewhere from the sites that rip off the advocacys good work will come looking and find japan-legend.com / guyveradvocacy.org (if it happens) ... anyway,i dont know but i think we should do something so Ryuki doesnt just give up altogether!!!!

i must say that it does look a bit retro.. i mean going back to the lycra and stuff does feel like a step backwards, the whole costume design just looks a bit tacky. is this to coincide with the anniversary of power rangers then?? if so it probably means the US wont get a version of go-busters then?? not that i care as i can be 95% sure that it would be crap compared to the original anyway.

thanks for the reply Melscypo, but i am talking about the 2005 tv series. not the oav's... in the UK the 2005 tv series was released twice in a DVD collection pack. once by manga entertainment and also by ADV. i'm wondering what the difference in releases is apart from the covers??

im sure this has been mentioned before - but i dont know where ?... can anyone tell me the difference between the 2005 TV series of GUYVER on DVD release in UK by ADV and Manga ent.?? as far as i can tell its just the box! anyone have any in hand pics of the boxes and presentation?? if that is all that is the difference thanks

i can honestly say i'm really looking forward to the next movies... in my opinion they should just do a TV series instead, but anyway... i'm not a die hard star wars fan but i do really like it. i dont get why people bash anything other than the first 3 films released. OK ja ja ruined ep 1 but ep 2 and especially ep 3 were cool. people dont like clone wars! why? the first animated clone wars was cool that actually came out between ep 2 and ep 3 and the more recent clone wars has had some really good episodes. i dont care if its canon i dont care if Lucas animated it by his own fair hand, etc. etc. i enjoyed it. you know why i liked ep 3 because it was more 'real' than any of the other films - 4,5,6 were well made in the 70's n 80's they have that feel about them, ep 1 was ok, ep 2 was a stepping stone and 3 brought it home.. oh and 1,2,3 had actual light sabre fights in, something sorely lacking in the first 3. if there isnt lots of light sabre duels in 7,8, 9 then i'm with everyone else, they will probably suck balls, but if they do have them in and the script is based on Lucas' ideas, and the effects are cool, and the mix of action, adventure and drama is good then i cant see how they can go wrong!

good find on the Zoanthropy!! i realise that the correct translation is not out of control as went over it in one of the other 'observations' threads so i suppose like you said it is implied...i was just pointing out that it is valid as a label within the series, because the Guyver is exactly described as that with its relation to the Advents within these particular chapters. oh well i was hoping Shizu was a secret badass chick and she had been saving it up for when Agito went crazy and processed her, anyway...

@ Dairangerah, ep 7 / 8 a quick peak and i recall that, yes great stuff, and so early in the series - i love it!! and the flying well it was more astral projection i suppose, in episode 4 whey they meditate and fly to china to the daos ruins... @CGI yeah thats exactly what i meant , surely that would produce some pretty cool scenes.

Beast god change? does that mean the literal meaning of a Zoalord is a 'beast God' i.e god of the (zoanoid) beast??? sounds better than therimorph anyway!!!! i know we kind of established the non standard product, but the contents of this chapter and the explanation does warrant 'out of control' being acceptable as a non literal explanation for that name... :)/> i think that was in the one chapter i typeset and it was 'billions' of years - i get the whole Advents toying with all of evolution thing but billons of years worth like i said is strecthing it a bit - like it throws up many questions about the creators... what is there life span? is there perception of time different to ours?? or were they themselves thinking ''flipping heck this is takeing a bit long to make these super biological wepons!'' were they time travellers?? whatever war they were fighting must have been going on for ages for them to have time to spend billions of years on making weapons... were they there for generation after generation i.e did they pro create on earth? or were the same Advents that arrived on earth the same ones that left?? etc.etc. Im not trying to pick holes here, i'm just pointing out that billions of years is a long time!!! like lord spleach pointed out the Earth is only around 5 billion years old and really that is quite old when you consider its around a third of the calculated age of the universe itself (13 - 15 billion years)

after quickly looking at the 1st opening of Go-Busters it seems that yes the real and digital are seperated, but what i did notice is that the difference is not quite so jarring as lets say Abaranger - to me at least, because the digital effects / models look less 'tacky' (sorry!) there isnt such a noticeable switch from real to digital because the digital doesnt look so bad, to me it sort of flows together better if that makes sense?.... i randomly fast forwarded through ep 12 of GB and noticed an unnecessary digital shot of Gorisaki bananna cut inbetween the real models (@ about 19 - 20 mins), i presume they did that just because it was at the very end of its transformation meaning more work -so yes it just smacks of laziness!! i think a perfect thing for them to do would be to build real models of everything and then animate the cgi from that so it would look real but be produced digitally - i dont know if thats possible or cost effective etc. but it seems the only way to marry the two together. BTW what ep of Dairangers are you on?? if you give me an ep number i'll get where you mean, as some events are cloudy seeing as i watched it probably towards the beginning of the year, and i wouldnt wantt o give any spoilers or anything.... i think the ep you are on about is where they all meditate and go flying!! but i could be wrong! whoa whoa whoa whoa!

What a great volume! loads of story to explain what exactly has been going on! plot points: the guyver group is confronted by more Enzyme 2's, Muarakami is forced to transform and fight Murakami reveals his involvement with Cronos, Professor Yamaura's inside rebellion at Cronos and the origins of the Zoalords and Zoanoids by the creators along with the human reaction to fusing with the Guyver unit. he also reveals the concept of the 'Super Exsistance' - a zoalord with a guyver unit!! Guyot's plan is thus revealed. Guyot vs. Murakami !!!! + G3 vs more E2's question: why would Takaya make the world's saviour Sho Fukamachi wear a shirt that says 'bent' ? observations: Yohei comments on Shizu ... ' Shizu has learnt much in the past 3 years, she can be of great service to you master Agito'' in the tv series it expaned by saying she has some nursing skills, but again it says she has learnt much.... so what did she learn? is she already battle ready at this point? is that why she has seemingly been comfortable with becoming Grizelda? i think that Murakami's Zoaform is possibly the best character design apart from the guyver suit. in viz murakami transforms and says ''zoalord transfer!!'' in chuang yi ''zoalord transform!!'' (and in the tv series ep14 he says ''Theriomorph!'' ?? - so where did that come from?????) in viz we have the creators experimenting for 250 million years and in chuang yi we have a few billion years... was the planet even formed to sustain any kind of life at all then??? or is it saying they terraformed the planet to sustain themselves and their biological lifeforms??? to be honest even if it says billions of years in the original manga script Takaya is pushing it a bit far! in viz it explains again that 'guyver' means ''beyond the norm'' which is somewhat correct as we discussed before, but in chuang yi it says the creators referred to the human guyver wearers as ''ones who went against the paradigm'' and that made me think because of what Murakami had just been explaining.... the concept of consciousness control and free thought is major here... the Creators have mind control power over zoalord and zoanoid and Zoalords have that power over Zoanoids, so in this case it actually does make sense that Guyver was dubbed 'out of control' - because it was out of mind control by the creators.

you see to me the dinosaurs in abaranger look quite tacky- similar to that crap 90's digital stuff i was on about before, but not as bad... more recent digi stuff just looks better - but how it is used or mixed might not be. i thought Go-Busters was a mix of both? or maybe they just have real and digi but not mixed together, to be honest ive not been paying attention that much!!!

how the heck did we get to the topic of ''male liquid evacuation cylinder''s ??? anyway.... thanks for clearing up the Showa and Heisei era thing, dudes... now i know why that description applies to super sentai series aswell! right so the 'N' in N city is most likely a nod to Nagano then... i suppose unless i see the Japanese raws with it on then it will still seem weird to me.... yes the name Takeshiro is in the Manga, it appears on the sign at the beginning of chapter 34 in volume 5....(it is also the sign G1 shoots down in the TV series i think)

well now i can look at the previous pages i guess everyones excitement about this chapter has already been expressed b4 we had the translation... but i must say it aswell WOW! that was F'in COOL!!!! That moment when i saw the first panel with Guyver Aptom i it it was like WTF? or to be more precise Who TF?? and then when Aptom unraveled - GENIUS!!! nice images you made of guyveraptom ryuki.. kind of a short chapter but seeing as i didnt expect one for about 3 months and the coolness of it i think we can overlook it!!

the sfx in toku now are very good compared to older japanese productions i think. i was always interested in seeing some decent Japanese live action films as i always thought if there anime is so cool then surely their films are too? but whenever i sought anything out the effects were apauling... thinking of it now the effects in older sentai is probably better than the things i saw - i cant remember specific titles it may have just been clips, but ive had that perception from a time when i looked into it. i havent seen prometheus yet - or JC's avatar - but yeah, real is always better i think its the nack of being able to blend everything together so it doesnt look tacky, something they couldnt do very well decades ago, but now because of the 0 and 1's (i.e digital) i guess its easier. oh, ive sought out Jetman. so i might get to watch it at some stage...

ooohweee! Durendal and Lost Unit - THANKS for the work you put in

i apologise for not keeping to the same format as before but its too time consuming!! so instead i'll give an plotpoints of the volume and any other points i think need 'pointing' out! plot points: inside mount minakami aka Relics Point Reichmann Gyro??? aka Richard Guyot is still alive and reveals Agito is part of Cronos to his hostages. Agito reveals he is Guyver 3 Hyper Zoanoid team 5 in the hizouse! Yohei and Shizu are introduced the guyver group and Dr Valcus \ Dr Balcus / Dr.Barcas is surprised by Murakami's first appearance as a (proto) Zoalord. Sho vs. Fumio aka Guyver vs Enzyme 2 observations: more silly translation in chuang yi's version - 'concoction tank' just sounds wrong next to 'processing tank' when Agito declares he is ''Zeus'' the original panel is in the viz version, the redraw is more shaded and Agito looks posessed. i was reminded here that essentially the reason Agito embarked on his quest was the revenge for the death of his parents - which i guess could screw a kid up no wonder he's so determined. (i have been watching the TV series and i think they did a great job with this scene (ep 12?) as it was adapted really well and gave the situation more depth / conveyed Agito's feelings - or so i felt) questions: is 'Showa' the district where mnt. minakami is? does it actually exist? why is Takeshiro city called 'N town' in chuang Yi's? is it that in the nippon version im not sure that it is, if not then i can only say WTF?

well no, i suppose a pinnacle story isnt possible, it just has to be engaging and... good! i meant effects wise, i think where the sentai and kamen rider is at is pretty damn good . i think maybe for myelf Dairangers will be the best for reasons i stated before. Jetman??? well reading up on it says its a homage to the original anime for Gforce/ battle of the planets!!so i'd give it a go at least. i wonder if its around to get with subs?.... what i would like to see is Ninja Sentai Kakuranger to see if its anywhere near as good as Dairanger as it came the following year so maybe they were on a roll??

this is insane and amazing at the same time. if only they would remaster the 12 part ova! well your effort is pretty impressive dude the way you kept the perspective of the face on the head turn is great.. without remastering everything it does look too good / modern to suit the rest of the scene though. what really needs changing in that scene is the G1 body at the beginning - it looks like its melting or being eaten by the host creature the way its so deformed!!!! i guess it is a styleised interpretation - but i just dont get why????

im so pleased that you have started watching this Ryuki, i do think you will really enjoy it. it only gets better and better as it goes on.... i truly think that it could be one of the best sentai of all time... i would like to see the ninja one from the following year, but the preceding ones seem too old and the ones following it will be too 90's for me i fear ( effects wise at least- i hate that crap transition of crappy digital efects that look crap that we had for about 10 years in tv programmes). when it comes to the effects though i love the old 80's type effects that were done well, it was a real craft to do models or place tacky laser beams in just the right place, i love that stuff. i think now toku will only get better if it hasnt already reached a pinnacle. i think Go-Busters has just the right mix of effects mixed with the actual Mecha suits, it doesnt seem too tacky or over digitised. things seem to haveevened out, if that makes sense!?

this chapter was awesome... much needed after the seemingly uneventful past couple of chapters. but is it all too abrupt? what does all this mean?? Agito seems to have got his heart back and Agito and Sho meeting up? talking! agreeing on things !?! wtf? - is this an alliance again to stand up to Apollyon?? these things seem to be contradictory to before - but i guess a Segawa sibling kidnapping, Zoalord ass kicking, mystery man covered in control metal could do that i suppose.

good point on the image flipping. lazy Viz me thinks. these earlier books are also bit vague to me aswell, reson being i just relied on the OAV's mostly and they are obviously different!!!

smeg!! same here, i missed 5 - 10 mins, but the rest was quite good. i kind of missed having seen the beginning of Lister's running joke through the ep, but it was still funny.
