  1. Religion vs Science? There are several religions, each a set of beliefs and doctrines. Many try to convince you that they are describing the universe. Science, when used by people that don't let their egos get in the way, is a method for LEARNING and discovering what the universe really is. In other words, religion is an entity or group of people telling you, and science is observation and experimentation to discover it for ourselves. And it is true, science can never define the complete universe/multiverse. Neither can religion. Unless you are using basic terms that is. And if you use basic/generalized terms, there will be exceptions to the rules that you create. A full explanation is impossible because any book/brain that is used to define the universe is also a part of the universe, and you would need another book/brain to explain the first. It would be a turtle on a turtle, unless done as a mobius loop (which is an interesting infinity), which would wither mean that the book defines the universe is already defining the book. The probability of that being true is small. Ultimately, science is a tool. The whole universe CAN be understood, just never all at once. That would violate the laws of thermodynamics. So neither religion or science will ever describe the universe completely. As for the divine being everywhere, where exactly are you pointing? What are you referring to as divine? That is a very interesting statement, and one that you will have a tough time proving, as it is a matter of opinion. Best of luck to you. People go on about how the complexity of the human body is equivalent to exploding random parts into the air and having them fall to the ground in the form of a working computer, but they forget that the human body is filled with bugs and errors and things that constantly fail and serve very little purpose to begin with. They say the universe is so big, and so it must have been created by a powerful god-but if a god really created a universe, it would more likely be small, with no NEED for it to be this wasteful and big. Why would a god even bother with something the size of a galaxy with so few potential stars capable of life? How many planets in our star system actually serve a purpose on a day to day basis? How significant are things such as Jupiter's gravity and faint light to our souls? The larger the universe is, the far more likely it is that our existence is created by nothing more than random chance reaction-for in a large enough universe, the chance of life randomly forming becomes higher, and the need for a god to 'assemble a computer', lower. As for souls, brain damage. If a soul is the essence of what puppets our body, then we must acknowledge the possibility of our body shaping and changing a soul. Indeed, it must. What would be the point of interacting with the universe if it does not affect you? In other words, a soul would not be puppeteering a body, it would be linked with a body in some way shape or form. And that leaves it vulnerable to brain damage. We can argue against the existence of a soul by remembering that people whom suffer from brain damage in certain parts of the brain can have complete personality changes. It is as if they become different people. If the soul is what makes us who we are, then brain damage should NEVER affect us in this way. Don't get me wrong, for some reason I believe in a soul, and am spiritual. I am also scientific. I am really curious to see what the soul is, as I do not believe it would be anything separate from the universe. So perhaps one day, science will be capable of defining it if it really exists.
  2. And I give you... Ninja Bear!
  3. I challenge you to pick up the parts at an electronics shop, and build a tv receiver from scratch, and pick up and display signals. You are not allowed to use any premade equipment, aside from the screen, and antennae. I suggest, for authenticity, your antennae be full spectrum. And you are not allowed to research what frequencies or coding formats humans use. If an alien can do it, so should you. After all, we are both intelligent species. Best of luck to you
  4. Are you suggesting that god would not be omnipotent? That an all powerful entity would need help? I find that strange, for someone in modern culture to suggest that sort of thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not disagreeing with the point
  5. Man, there's so much to reply to on this topic. Religion makes you less anxious? Understandable. I mean, the idea that you can rely on someone stronger than you has to be very comfortable. That you could even kill and commit any number of acts that you would normally question all because you believe your higher power sanctions it as right (that morality is dictated by a created, and no matter what the dictator decides, it is automatically morally right and justified). It's just so easy to relax as a child in the comfort that a parent like god can take care of everything for us. Maybe that's because they all have the same original source. Christianity, Catholicism, they stem from Judaism. That's not really impressive. Now if there were the Angels Michael and Gabriel in native American culture, THAT would be impressive (and possibly justify some of the Morman claims). And Mirabilis, that four winged, four faced creature that you described was called a Cherub-im. It's first described in the book of Ezekial. It also had the weird wheel at its base with the eyes on the outer rim- and the four wheels within it. Kind of sounded like a flying saucer. The description of the wheel was so hard to visualize. It also mentioned the dome that enveloped them. If I'm right about Yaweh being and transdimensional entity, this dome detail would be very interesting. What is an angel and demon? Ultimately, I don't know. There has been so much crap handed down through so many religions, that if there ever was anything real about it, it's been polluted by too many peoples opinions and theories. The source material is too corrupt for any intellectual to be able to make a claim that he has found the truth. If god had any competence, he would stop relying on prophets and dictate his messages to ALL of humanity simultaneously (I mean, he is supposed to be omnipotent, right? He can't figure out a way to do that?) so that the message doesn't get screwed up. Do I deny the existence of Angels or Demons? No. I believe that many different forms of alien life are possible. Cell structure and DNA are what we commonly see and define life by, and we have very little experience outside of our dimensional realm. I once woke up to being pulled across by bed, and had to fight to break free. I believe we can catalog our experiences in order to try and figure out what these things are. But we must realize that they are all just theories. Making a theory based on desires and prior myths we grew up with and love is simply foolish.
  6. Sorry, you may not have said speech, but you said this. Curvature aside, I was under the assumption that legitimate crop circles are so mysterious because the stalks of the wheat/grass are bend to the side without breaking, and the kernals of grain are burnt/exploded. Taking a grass sample to me is the best way to determine legitimacy. Anything else to do with curvature should be considered as a factor in the mathematical equation. If we could record the grass condition, and pick out the legitimate from there, then it might tell us so much more. I mean, if legitimate crop circles are indeed using similar math to what our civilization is, then it would be very interesting and would suggest something about who is doing it. It's not far fetched for us to share at least a little math, as math is after all called the universal language. But just how much is the question. The star of David circle? Seriously? I really want to see the grain sample on that one. Is is an incredibly elaborate world wide hoax? The planet, mother Earth trying to get our attention? Aliens currently visiting our world, trying to tell us something without causing panic? Aliens broadcasting signals across the stars to try and make contact?
  7. Why would aliens use speech? I mean, speech is viable, true. But humans evolved to use speech. Ants use dance and pheromones. As do bees. There are many ways to communicate. You did point out visual, and crop circles are visual. Geometry is a mathematical function-it requires math applied in a certain way to create these shapes. That's why it would be really interesting to weed out the fake ones, solve the 'puzzles', and I guess really figure out what is causing them. If we determine a cause, we could answer a lot of questions. I mean, complex shapes and patterns appearing perfectly in nature? Circles and spirals are one thing, but it's highly unlikely for some of these patterns to be happening on their own (it would be really nice to weed out the fakes to say that with greater certainty)
  8. There are two kinds of crop circles. The first kind is the one where regular people go out and bend the crops over themselves. The damage is very basic. The second kind is the mystery kind. The bend in the crops doesn't snap them, at least in the case of wheat, and the kernals in the tips are burnt/blackened. Noone can figure out how this is done. That's why this is a mystery. A camera crew stayed overnight in a field once, detected nothing, and the next morning there was a new circle. When I see pics of these, I'd like to know which kind they are. Are they obviously man made? Or are they more interesting? Is there an artist who's been going at this all across the world for several decades already? (and what is he using?) Or is there a more exotic answer? I can see some designs in there that have significance to human culture, which is why I'd like to know which ones are obviously man made. If they are made by anything not of this civilization, is it merely a form of expression? Or is it an equivelant to a SETI program? I mean, these are geometric shapes, all of which hold mathematical values. And math IS the universal language. I kinda like the picture of the bug in there. Any chance it's the insects doing this?
  9. More annoying as far as I"m concerned. I mean, the pics are nice, but kind of condescending to anyone that isn't a stalker. It was cute at first, but going on for this long?
  10. http://www.rawstory.com/news/2007/Jane_Fonda_fondles_Stephen_Colbert_0510.html I normally find the Steve Colbert report annoying, but this was great! I love it when you get to see the real actor, when all their defenses are broken through. When they are forced to act natural. Very unexpected
  11. These large birds really add a lot more credibility to the Thunderbird legends. Makes you wonder about all the other monster legends. There are actually regions in which these show up. Hmm. Very interesting. Some of them still show up.
  12. Where is that bird from? Is it a model mock up, or a legitimate stuffed corpse? Kinda reminds me of the Thunderbird legends of north America (giant bird that flies at the speed of sound, and swoops down to each people). Almost impossible to see. Like bigfoot
  13. Robocop like you never would have expected: And let us not forget this classic:
  14. The Torah is the first five books of the old testament. Torah translates out to mean 'Law'. These are the books that were supposedly written by Mosheh (Moses)
  15. Have you finished reading the Torah? I find it very fascinating. The numbers that were involved there. Archeology shows us (based on the cities that are currently unpopulated, the ones we can actually dig up), that the battles that conquered these cities, from Canaanite to Israel are actually much smaller than those described in the bible. Archeology shows us that the numbers were exaggerated. I'm thinking that the numbers are possibly suggesting something else. Bare with me Take a look at the ark of the Covenant. Take a look at all the paraphernalia surrounding it. It describes techniques used to build the Ark. Simply having dimensions and composition was not enough. That is very important. It describes the gold being hammered instead of cast. Do you know the difference that makes? In material science, that 'can' be a big one. For instance, forged wrenches are stronger than cast wrenches. Take a look at the effect of the incense burners. That specific oils are described. Also take a look at the skin diseases that are constantly mentioned. It mentions them as if there were some importance. It describes a baldness as being unclean, but makes a description to differentiate it from regular 'clean' baldness. I'm thinking that this is a description of radiation sickness. If the Ark and its paraphernalia were built as dimensional transceivers, then it would support the idea that Earth was injected into this universe. I'm told there is a part in the old testament that describes in detail the tower of Babyl, and I'm eargerly looking forward to it. They mention the story briefly in the Torah. I know the story according the Babylonian legend, and it is described more as a weapons platform, as they actually attack the heavens and hurt the gods (they fire arrows, and when they arrows fall to Earth, they are stained with blood). It would be very interesting to me to see some stats on the Tower's construction. What is sad is that the composition of the Ark and it's paraphernalia is different compared to the center of the Earth. I'd love to be able to experiment further with this in a laboratory. I mean, if both set ups have transdimensional effects, but in different ways, this could seriously provide a deeper understanding of particle physics.
  16. Oh, sorry. Those are some of the best moments of 'Drawn Together'. The worlds first fully animated reality tv show. The show that takes characters from eight different forms of animation and puts them together in one house to see if they can live together. There's Captain Hero, the muscle bound cape wearing super hero. His motto is 'Save yourselves!' Then Toot, the black and white sex symbol from the twenties, who doesn't admit to being kind of obese now, but although disgusting still looks good for an 86 year old. And Foxy Love. She's a mystery solving pop musician from the 70's, who's big on the sex symbol front, like Josie and the pussie cats. Xander, everybody loves Xander. Everybody. He's the elf like video game adventurer who has a thousand lives, who's on a never ending quest to save his girl friend. Until she dumps him. Let's forget about Spanky Ham. He's a pig. Quite literally. He's a crass internet download pig thats used in online porn cartoons. Try Waldorf Sockbat. Don't know what Waldorf Sockbat is? That's ok, neither does he. Just think Spongebob Squarepants and you're fine. Ling Ling. Ling Ling is a battle monster from Japan. Most people confuse him with Pikachu, but don't. Ling Ling's whole purpose in life is to kill in battle for honor and glory. And finally, Princess Clara. She's the house Disney princess. She's everything you could want in a Disney princess. She's wholesome, she's pure, she's white supremist and hyper christian. Every once in a while she'll break out into song, complete with animals coming out of nowhere, just to be near the sound of her voice.

  18. Yeah, I don't think Charles Dickens is a good choice. It's too dated. Maybe try Dan Brown. He's popular enough, uses common english. You can pick a book that is a movie, or one that is a stand alone.
  19. I enjoy Neil Gaiman. he's got lots of interesting short stories, and some full length novels. You could also get him to join the board, and get himself into some regular discussions. Some people start out a little awkward, but with regular practice get better. And it's fun at the same time
  20. I've worked in a slaughter house, so I'm going to disagree with this; at least to a point. I've -heard- that cattle have no idea what's going on, so I can agree with you there. But hogs, they can smell the death. They know they are there to die. They fear it. They look at you, with begging eyes. They don't know exactly how it is going to happen. They are herded into the proper pens and walkways, and given no real options; only the hope that they can find some way to escape. The workers have strict orders not to yell or swear at them, not to stress them out as it would release enzymes and affect the taste of the meat. But you can still hear them scream as they are herded. Then they are zapped, and their throat is slit. You can see some of them twitching still as they bleed out. Some still struggle, their hind legs start kicking, trying to run away as body functions slowly return even though their neck is cut. It's not supposed to happen, but not every shock is perfect. Still, studies show that animals do feel pain, and this is far more humane than simply slitting the throat, despite what some religious organizations say (advocating to kill in the traditional method). I lived with a Vegan for a while. She had no problem eating meat, except she didn't like the conditions in which they were kept. She doesn't like treating things in warehouse conditions, packing everything so close together. That's the difference between regular production beef and Angus beef. Angus beef is all natural. The cow is allowed to do whatever it would naturally in nature. Eat when and where it wants. Breed when it wants. And there is a difference in the taste. I guess there are many different reasons for being Vegan. I agree that listening to someone with a superiority complex is annoying. But maybe it is worth it to hear them out. Maybe they actually have a valid point on something. After all, is it not arrogant for ourselves to think that we can learn nothing more? We are not perfect, and there are lots of ways for us to improve. If someone does not preach, then how else will we get the information?
  21. A couple friends and I were hanging out the other night, playing around with light sabers and stuff, then we decided to film it. It was fun, I got to direct. http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/scifi_and_fantasy/watch/v19652975MwPDqxbk
  22. There are some people here that sell energy back to the energy companies because they generate more than they use, and are still tied into the grid for back up
  23. Recap-Aptom, what do we know: Aptom was originally designed to 'mimic' other zoanoids. He was basically a shape shifter (probably did this by picking and choosing which parts of his DNA he would express, a talent we see to this day) It is to note that originally he couldn't fully mimic others, and was lower in power to the originals. Reprocessed by Dr Balcus: -Aptom absorbed the DNA of other zoanoids by absorbing their bodies -While he was in the process of absorbing, he could link with their telepathy to talk to zoalords -Can regenerate, using other zoanoids as base material (obeying the law of conservation of energy-which is note worthy for zoanoid processing in general) -When regenerating a body, has all the memories he did before -Evil Aptom had something in place of a brain that Sho was able to detect, this was sending out brain signals that stopped the body from trying to form a brain -While in the middle of absorbing Hayami, he felt Hayami's precence, and it faded away when the absorption was complete (as if two minds can not coexist) I would say that Aptom can not absorb memories, but while in the process of absorbing, can link with their nervous system. I guess he MAY be able to glean information from them that way. I'm a bit hesitant to say specifically that it is DNA that Aptom is using to store memories. There are a lot of different components to a cell. True, the nucleus is the blue print of the bodies physical form. But I would like something that can feed from the blood stream or the nervous system constantly. I suppose with the increased speed of manipulating DNA this would not be an issue, but still. It's just a preference. I don't like throwing out the word DNA all the time, it makes it a one trick pony. I'm also a little frightened of physical body DNA combining with memory DNA. Any confusion would be weird. I would like Aptom to be capable of processing his physical forms without having to sift through memory strands. Perhaps memories strands are kept in a separate package, or in a ball unto themselves. I would imagine that memory strands would require a new organelle to help write the new memories in. And organelle that receives a signal from the brain (perhaps electrical, perhaps chemical-my vote is on electrical, through the nervous system), and then adds another link unto the memory chain. If the way I think works is it, then there is just one question: Aptom has demonstrated the ability to create multiple versions of himself, and then merge back together. If he is creating memories for different bodies simultaneously, do they merge back together, or is there a 'prime Aptom' chosen? A 'master hard drive'? It might be difficult to spy on various people if you then must chose who has the better reason for remembering. Perhaps this is why Aptom doesn't do this trick very often. Not really sure, I'd like to see more examples before I say for sure on that one. I need to see how he reacts some more.
  24. I'm not so sure they would like to take terminally ill people. I mean, there is mention that there is a survival rate involved. Maybe as experiments. Zoanoid processing isn't compatible with everyone-or at least, people are limited in what they can become (based on early datafiles). Almost anyone can be a Ramotith, but Gregule is more difficult (which is why we have the Broiz, a model that is more successful for everyone else). Since genes play a role in this, I would ASSUME that weak genes would be thrown out. Granted, weak genes may be just fine, and attributes such as eye and hair color could be more important (picked attributes at random). I like Ryuki's Yakuza theory. The people in Takeshiro village, I doubt they were kidnapped in their sleep. It would be pointless, the process takes weeks. Kidnapping people in their sleep denotes secrecy, you can't really keep weeks at a time a secret. They probably arranged special vacations or work trips for these guys one by one. Or even had different families move into the area as a relocation package. As a twist, I wouldn't be surprised if they had doctors lie to perfectly healthy people, and tell them that they need a life saving surgery, just to process them behind their backs. I'm not so fond of the mercenary idea. I mean, sure Chronos has money, but not an infinite amount. You don't get rich by spending it. I'm not against the idea of them recruiting mercs, but I don't think they'd pay them. A secret organization but be very careful about how much it takes/forces out of people. If not careful, people notice a paper trail. Granted, the hospital thing has a paper trail too, but at least that involves the subjects potentially 'giving' them money in order to do it.
  25. That's what the cutbacks are for. The current plans being proposed are to penalize companies that don't make changes, or at least companies that continue to put out excessive amounts of carbon dioxide. Since third world countries have huge populations, and are trying to develop their industry, it would be disastrous if they followed in our foot steps. The idea is that the money garnered from carbon tax will be used in new tech for developing countries so they don't push us over the edge. People that have money have already started on new infrastructure over here. We've already got wind farms scattered all over the prairies. It's kind of a legal hurdle now to get some of this tech passed. Canada doesn't allow electric cars on the road, for instance. Which is weird, my new province produces them, but ships them all to California. My old city is incredibly windy, but banned wind mills within city limits-legislated dependency upon the power companies. Getting the government to change the laws is kind of a big issue.
