  1. ha ha, wow, it has been rather interesting hasn't it hey kenji, you're a pillar of the community ^^/
  2. one of my favourite quotes is from beetlejuice. this applies to how i view demons and angels and other things usually reserved for fairy tales. i believe that under certain circumstances, humans may easily be able to sense the astral plane and view etheric beings. etheric beings would be things like magical creatures that don't actually occupy the physical world, only the astral plane. if you were fully aware of the astral plane, you would 'see' these things as plain as day. but as the quote says, the living won't see the dead. the dead, or ghosts, being the imprint of a human that sometimes remains in the astral plane instead of moving up to the spirit plane (or heaven). so, as humans don't usually notice these things, they are seen as hocus pocus. you can't detect the astral plane using technology. not yet anyway. one day maybe we could do that, but well... so well... it's not exactly talking about it scientifically, and scientists would say it is silly stories. but i think that these concepts are generally accepted by most people. i don't see why it should be branded as silly just because technology is not at that level yet. i think that demons and angels are ways that some religions use to describe certain etheric beings. of course some of them will align with what we view as good or align with god. some will align with what we view as evil or malevolent, or the devil. of course i think that other beings such as dragons, centaurs, unicorns etc, can be classed as being demons or angels. but it depends on each persons own view.
  3. i personally think that they could do with a bit more fleshing out. that's one of the few weaknesses to guyver's story. but anyway... I chose purgstal. i dislike his zoalord form because it looks really dorky, but i respect his character a great deal. he is resolute, chivalrous and wants to protect the people. he is a tiny bit dimwitted but that's ok, i forgive him for that since his heart burns so strongly.
  4. can you think of any blank canvas that would be sure to get somebodies attention? to get the message across, i would expect it needs to be a place that is the constant attention of humans. and it needs to be large enough that the humans will not pass it by without noticing. and i guess it would be far easier if the canvas were reasonably flat and smooth.
  5. i think the bonus of this kind of communication is that it is physical. sounds, operate on frequency. and humans are only able to detect certain frequencies. same with electromagnetic waves. we can only detect certain frequencies. the beauty of something physical is that it can be detected using more or less any frequency. so even if greys were to sense things using completely different frequency to us, they would still be able to detect a physical means of communication.
  6. there could be a reason why they would carve designs into crops. humans may have done much crop art in the past. such as the following images. it could be a response to what humans have done. out of all the possible mediums, perhaps the crops are the most accessible, easiest medium for a grey in his nifty ship.
  7. oh, i had a look. it's a crying shame even fanfiction writers can succumb to retarded non-translation syndrome. does she not realise that sandaime is simply 'the third'. it's a fairly innocuous term.
  8. do you have a link? I love gai. i especially love his nice guy pose.
  9. heh heh, good night so a dragonfly? coolio. we don't get many around here. i'd have to go to the field near the woods to see one.
  10. think about natural cream. ah.. scratch that. I remembered that the American companies dump loads of sugar in it. uhm.. ok think about full fat milk. now think about the difference between skim milk and full fat milk. so now think of double the thickness and richness. and again. it's not particularly sweeter, just richer. creamier. man, I'm not even sure what sweetened butter is. we have either salted or unsalted.
  11. my cat is dangerous and sits on the stairs in the dark. oh so you are a pheonix!! congrats i look forward to seeing that artist drawing guyot. it will be interesting.
  12. no, i don't believe it is cottage cheese. we have cottage cheese and clotted cream so they must be different. clotted cream ... as far as i know it is like a very thick cream. sometimes it has yellow clear liquid in the container. who knows, it could be the same thing, I never had cottage cheese really.
  13. hmm, i may have honey in tea at some point, when i have green tea, and then i make sure it has cooled down beforehand as i do not want to destroy the enzymes in the honey. it is kinda nice. so... ice tea? powdered lemon tea? i believe these things are pure novelty as far as i know. i remember one time ages ago when i was a kid, my mum bought some of that stuff. it was weird. it didn't last long. it's not seen as traditional asian tea since it is powdered. i guess it is seen as a kind of heresy. since the asian tea ceremony's are seen as very important, then if we are to drink tea in that manner, we would be careful to be respectful. traditionally, british tea is served in a pot, then we have milk and sugar in the cup and pour the tea, and we have scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. and that is called afternoon tea. i think if that type of ice tea were served.. even without ice, it would still be called iced tea. ah and that is spelled camomile
  14. yes they do say that. I don't know if it's true or not, but it's so goddamn tasty i am not sure i could drink it without milk. the tannin you see. it makes my mouth all icky. so i got to have milk. i guess at some time, I could try it with lemon instead. that would be interesting.
  15. It's just a parody song, where the guy is just saying he's the most hardcore or 'blackest' of them all. It not literal. O i thik i get it, is that like being "ghetto" or being "street" ?
  16. the problem i have with "i'm black ya'll" is that he's not blacker than black. he's moderately black. i've seen blacker than black people and he's nothing like that.
  17. hey guys, I'm interested in how you have your tea? do you have regular tea bags such as typhoo or pgtips or do you like a bit of the good stuff. do you like made in a cup or in a pot. loose tea or bags. how much milk, a spot or half a cup? sugar? one lump or two? do you like it as white as a scared child on halloween or as stewed as soggy dumplings? tell me!! and if you don't drink tea (how could you?!) then how do you make your good ol' mug of joe? me, personally, I am liking ceylon at the moment. I have got some loose ceylon and making it using a wonderful cup that was in fact a gift from our very own kenji. i've never been one for a pot, i just don't drink so much in one go. it's generally spread out through the day. I like it about 3 minutes, not quite stewed but with a good flavour to it. I have to have about 20-30% milk to be just right and i have about 2 sugars. normally when i am not trying out loose tea, i have a favourite. clipper tea. it comes in unbleached tea bags and it is well sourced from organic farmers and also fair trade. i currently can't get hold of it and so that is why i'm using the loose tea. disclaimer: due to the british stereotype, there may be those of you who think this thread is satire. I would like to state that this thread is in fact only very mildly satirical and i am genuinely interested in this.
  18. ooh, thanks for posting dude! that looks mad crazy, especially that guys beard, it looks like a lump of dark clay stuck to his face.
  19. intentionally, I allow some image link to fall into my post. http://geeksyndicate.wordpress.com/2010/03/30/doctor-who-series-five-first-images-of-the-new-tardis-interior/
  20. to me, i think that is more like the films. 'the first' and 'the next' certainly seemed far more realistic in style. I don't mind that so much, since it is separate from the series i enjoy and have come to expect certain things from it. but if they were to wipe the slate clean and then restart kamen rider as something that does not fulfil the same demographic, it would be akin to committing suicide. why not just simply look at other shows that already fulfil different demographic? for example, skull man. or garo. or lion maru g. we could name plenty more. besides, they have practically done that very thing. they have rebooted the franchise with kamen rider W. they seem to be fitting much the same mould as den-o mixed with dcd in my view, so i'm happy. also, they have not really had much posturing in kamen rider of late. the shouting of the attacks, is now performed by the belt and not the hero. the posing before henshin also seems to be vastly reduced in time.
  21. i don't know, I can't help but feel that you are voicing gripes about things that are actually staples of the genre. I don't think that is what this thread is about really. I mean, stating an attack name before performing it, that's something that is generally accepted about this genre. it's something that would basically destroy the genre if it was missing. I really think those kinds of things would be better for a personal rant blog or something because i can only see many kamen rider or sentai fans feeling a little insulted by those kinds of comments. to be totally clear about where we're coming from you need to really look at what is generally accepted as good kamen rider. so look at a series like kamen rider agito or moving along to faiz or blade. I'm not sure if you have seen that, if you have then that's really the sort of perspective required in order to get the right mood for this discussion. we're not slating sentai or kamen rider here. we like sentai and kamen rider as they are. we are talking about how recent series have had weaknesses within the genre. perhaps your ideas would be more suited to the thread about "what would you like to see in sentai" ?
  22. one day i was walking through the woods around here and i was walking past a part that was quite low next to a river. there were quite long grasses or reeds growing there and up the hill into the trees and the ground was marshy in places. at one point I came upon the strangest sight. all the grasses were flattened. all the grasses facing the same direction up away from the water. it was almost like a very strong wind had blown them flat.
  23. well technically they are the cast. v-guyver, it disturbs me to be honest, the culture of the US, where everyone seems to think that 'cool' = dark and moody. there is nothing wrong with strong colours and in most cultures, strong colour is a sign of true prestige. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss6z-W-JAQ8 I would really hate to see the richness of another culture being dragged down by the batman/crow emo culture. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with having batman style things, but that is part of that culture and is 'cool' in it's own unique special way. the strong colours in sentai and kamen rider series are a symbol of purity and power. and anyway, this thread is about kamen rider so why are you talking primarily about sentai and power rangers?
  24. double is very much a new beast. the ratings for it are totally different from past series. also, as the production team is totally different, the production values are different. it does feel very different. I don't have the same drive to watch as i had with past series, it is a very different feeling altogether. whether this is bad or good, is difficult to say. it's always subjective. I will say that i do enjoy it though.
  25. heh heh, i see let me throw some ideas at you and see if you still think the same thing. first of all, what publicity do you think farmers would get for a circle in their field, how would this benefit the farmers in terms of revenue. does this promote their crops as good quality or in any way superior to another farmers crops. secondly, how much damage do you think this is causing to their crop, how much loss do you think they incur from losing that amount of their crop? do you think any amount of media coverage in terms of perhaps an interview from a local newspaper, would cover the damages incurred by this?
