  1. it can vary. the teams can use different terms in slightly different ways. in general, the executive producer is the person who provides the funding at the basic level. let us say that in a company, there is a CEO and there are managing directors etc. the production company are like a parent company. the director is not usually part of that company. the producer more than likely is. the executive producer is the head guy, probably the owner. the executive producer is generally not involved, perhaps checking in with his producer now and then to see if things are going ok. the producer is the high level creative control. some producers are very hands on and exercise a lot of creative control. some producers prefer to give the director more control. of course a director role is essential. if the producer does not need a director and is totally hands-on then he will usually be credited as producer and director.
  2. you could be right. well I thought some of the earlier episodes seemed promising. some eps where the characters showed some form of development and som eps which had some nice story including a random person and they learn some lesson with some help from the shinkenger. it showed the same promise like abaranger or hurricanger, but then it just descended into mediocrity where they tried to have an awesome story about soe guy who is mysterious and etc. ther eis way too much filler crap though. and not much actual development. this is like after about 30 episodes. i really don't know why it takes them over half the show to do such a lame story. there seems to be a total lack of lore of their universe, the concepts, the legends. like who are the shinkenger? where do they come from? why did they start? how did the gedou come to be the way they are? but we get nothing, every week all we get is some trivial crap about one of their magical animated partners who have had a bit of a strop and they have to try and make friends again.
  3. durendal, thank you. the emotion surpassed binbo danshi. i'll write more later.
  4. no when i say producer I mean producer. the producer is the bottom line. most of the time, the creative team know what they are doing. they get to their position with their abilities, not by simply having money. even if the producer is not telling the team what to do and keeping his nose out, if the end product is bad, it is the producers fault because he is not doing his job. of course, sometimes there is a producer team and not just one person. if ther eis a bad set designer, the producer can get rid of him and get a new one that can do the job. if there is a bad director, the producer can replace him. the producer is ultimately responsible.
  5. i think i might like that one, you'll have to remind me about it in the future.
  6. Ok so i got densha otoko incoming. I put on the first episode to have a peek. seems interesting, I like the style of it, very exciting, it reminds me a little of akihabara@deep. except it has a little more delight to it. I am looking forward to watch the first episode completely if i don't end up watching rescue fire instead. also, I am now considering a few series that i had recommended from d-addicts forums. these are the following i plan to obtain and watch. Zettai Kareshi a girl with a boy who is a robot. The Quiz Show was said to be quite mysterious. O-Hitori-Sama a lady perfectionist in a romantic story. Samurai High School I don't thik i need to say much about this.
  7. that is roughly where i am. I was feeling a bit bored about putting the next one on so i skipped ahead and looked at the latest ep released by TVN. I didn't honestly see any major developments that excited me. it just seemed like the same old stuff. it seems like they are standing still and no plot development at all.
  8. ah nice one bobby, seems like you're really 'on the ball' with this series. I had never considered it that far back.
  9. did you see the interview with kevin smith with regards to the superman movie? if not, i will search for it and post it here. long story -> short = the producers are ultimately responsible. it is them that have the money and when they want to do something, then they will do it. if the producer wants to do dragonball, and has the rights, then he will do the dragonball that he wants to do. it is an already well established cash cow and as a result it can be appropriately raped. just like mario. he may have just seen one or two images from it. he may have never seen or read it. so he just tells the director what he wants and the director does his best. in this case, it doesn't matter what the fans want. this producer is after money, not fan praise. he has the name of dragonball and he is gonna make HIS movie. the parents will pay into the movie because parents don't have a clue. end result is that the DVD will sell. mission accomplished. merry xmas durendal. and tales.
  10. is anyone else finding shinkenger totally lame? i was watching it but today i just couldn't be bothered wasting my time on it. it's exactly the same effect as with go-onger.
  11. well i watched 14 finally. it's getting pretty good actually! I'm starting to enjoy this series. I like the character development. and it seems pretty obvious to me from the way this episode has panned out, it seems to me that philippe is wakana's little brother. i guess we'll find out in time eh? I think i'm gonna start watching this as they are subbed.
  12. ha ha, pure awesomeness!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0KOfTV1dbc

nah, I'm pretty stubborn to be honest. perhaps i should stop posting in this thread because i feel like i'm not likely to be very open minded about this issue. you see, I have this strong feeling that it is simple government BS like all those lies they used to go to war in the middle east. I'm pretty convinced they have some alternate agenda. I was watching a program last night on channel 4. It was talking about teh little ice age. i found it very interesting when they said on the program that scientists don't understand what caused the little ice age. so this is just confirming my own opinion that these scientists really don't know what they are talking about when it comes to climate. if they can't figure out what caused the mini ice age then what right do they have to tell me that the climate is changing for teh worse now and that it won't turn around unless we take action. they have been shown to be unqualified to make these judgements. as a result i don't trust any information posted by some scientists trying to argue one way or the other. I only interested in people opinions. I guess i could have a read of it and see what it says. I'm heavily sceptical though. edit: that website is stupid, it is asking me to pay in order to read some articles. so i guess i'm not reading any of it anyway.
  14. wow, there is a word i never saw before. ennui... I'm pretty good with vocabulary too! I'll remember that one. you'll have to get yourself some handwriting recognition program or something.

yeah i don't disagree with any thing there. one of the things that is so stupid about these scientists is how they ignore the obvious. there is snow on the ground outside right now, much of which has turned to solid ice. it is FREEZING literally. I don't want to go outside because i came from my friends house and my hands were almost numb. this is not global warming. it was mild last year. this year it is freaking frigid. the climate is just fluctuating like it always does as far as i'm concerned. they've been bitching about the ozone layer since as far back as i can remember. according to what we were told when i was a kid, we should all have skin cancer by now.
  16. they are really stupid aren't they? it's just a waste of time full stop. if i get any email from a address i don't recognisse i usually delete it right away unless it has some recognisable subject line.
  17. ha ha ha, I love hard gay, he is so funny!

minus 29 omg... wow, that is insane. I have been outside and really really cold.. and it is only minus 5 here!
  19. to be honest, I'm not aware of any period where british had great influence in japan. it was the americans who really influenced japanese culture to the extent that if they see any westerner they immediately assume that they are amerikajin. but yes, there are some places that are celebrating british culture. I know of a resort somewhere in japan called "british hills"
  20. i just finished watching episode 12, it was very odd to see an old style british telephone box outside that church. and then right after that behind the desk was a picture of an old style london bus. mike, i think this 'accel' you talk about is classed as future discussion? isn't it ironic that you mention future material in response to toku warriors post about not saying future info in here
  21. heh heh ... girls in maid costumes? versus ghosts... I don't think there is any contest here! anyway, now I finished watching Haruhi Suzumiya, I am going to plan watching some drama. NOW, I did start watching tokyo dogs. I watched the first episode and it's not thrilling. It seems a little hard hitting so I'm not sure if I'll watch it any more. I'll have to see how i feel about it. actually, I would like something more like mei-chan no shitsuji or atashinchi no danshi. but i think that what i will try next will be densha otoko. I managed to get Durendal into Binbo Danshi, so I will go for his recommendation.

volcano eruptions come in lots of different sizes though. my example, the yellowstone super volcano... would send a cloud of ash halfway round the planet. I guess what is really getting to me at the moment is this bloody copenhagen thing. these governments talking about trying to MAKE us change our way of living. I'm all in favour of looking for alternate fuels. I do think that devices can be far more efficient. because it would be cheaper for a start. we're supposed to be an advanced species, we should not be doing so much work. everything should be so much easier. lions lie on the grass all day while humans slave away in factories. it's ridiculous.
  23. durendal, I would be very happy if you cleaned up those images from the VDF. I had planned on doing it myself, but it is more time consuming to do and I find myself shying away from it. if you find yourself with the opportunity to do it, It would be brilliant. I need to get the height accurate for the guyver overlay anyway. I have a system set up to do that. so if you find yourself cleaning those images and uploading them full size, then i can then download them and do the overlay.
  24. a day hiatus? how come? did you go away somewhere? a special occasion?
  25. Jess♥ replied to Mirabilis's topic in Philosophy
I think the main point of that was just to show that you can compare these stupid graphs to absolutely anything. there was another one that was comparing the price of postage. I'm going to pass on reading that link.. basically because i know that everyone has an agenda. everyone has something to prove. and many of these reports have been debunked. even if the world does get warmer, there is opportunity for migration. the sahara used to be a lush area. if the climate changes, there may be a chance at repopulating that area along with other areas like the tundra in north canada and in siberia. I see it as bureaucrats trying to control us. they need to feel that they are in control, when the fact is, they are not in control. if i stop using all electricity and stop using all fuels, it is not going to make any difference to our climate. they control nothing, all they are going to try and control is people. and that isn't even going to work very well. they certainly aren't going to control the climate. do you think it may be pretty ironic.... if all the people in the world decide to stop using certain things and try and cut down on the 'carbon footprint' bullshit... and then in a couple of years a volcano goes off. what impact will we have really made when compared to what that volcano will do to the climate? especially if it were the super volcano under yellowstone. this reminds me of the type of people who don't go out of their house because they are afraid of having an accident. they want to live to a healthy old age. but what they don't realise is that they are not actually living life.
