September 16, 201510 yr thanks guyver four. there is a lot of bile on that site isn't there?and they seem to think we would bother to go over there to talk to them? It would be more productive to stick my head in a meat grinder.
September 16, 201510 yr I really don't care if someone starts up some new guyver scanlations. The advocacy has always done right by me, I always got what I payed for, my money goes towards keeping guyver going and I found the first forum I was ever interested to become a member of (a choice I haven't regretted). Trying to slag the advocacy off is both a cheap shot and a thinly veiled attempt to make themselves appear better. Most forums I've ever looked into always seem to be nothing more than stewing pots of bile, anger and negativity. That's why I like it here, everyone is for the most part nice and respectful. September 16, 201510 yr I agree with Promethes. This is the only forum I am a member of. Never cared to be a part of any other. This is a great place for fans to nerd out. I will always say the more the better with regards to Guyver getting more exposure, but not at the behest of senseless and childish name calling or behavior...
September 17, 201510 yr Translator changed his web address: http://chillock-amt.blogspot.co.uk/ Got the info from his twitter: https://twitter.com/CiaranHillock
September 17, 201510 yr Dirk Diggler - "a little group called um..."smegg Japan Legend"......um, hozar!" Really? This is getting childish isn't it? So your going to scan the manga and post it online while providing no or barely any payment towards the manga or its creator. Japan Legend requests that you either provide proof of purchase or pay money which will actually go towards supporting the manga and they will provide you with a translated version of each chapter. So looking at it that way who's the real jerk here? The ones who politely ask you to support the manga or the ones who shout obscenities. Edited September 17, 201510 yr by Prometheus Guyver
September 17, 201510 yr Yeah, the blog itself has been removed. No post on 4chan (where the hype for their translations started) regarding it either. A shame really, as rivalry can sometimes help both sides improve... but just because the blog is down, and we haven't heard anything, doesn't mean they are necessarily done. That is a shame. I would have loved to view their work. I think some more people working on the manga could have really benefited fans and got the word out there more.
September 17, 201510 yr Let them do what they like. If they went to 'throw salt' our way, let them. it's their energy they are wasting. any people with decent set of morals can see what we're doing and why.who knows this could help get more people to buy guyver manga as it does give our cause more exposure. Do we need to get some updated link on where to buy manga if people don't want to use our ordering system?
September 18, 201510 yr Well, he is putting out chapter 185. He might be serious about translating the Guyver manga.
September 19, 201510 yr Yeah, I think that's the question. Keeping up now is easy because ten pages a month: no problem. But 184 back-chapters? On your own? Good luck.
September 20, 201510 yr I don't think he's doing the back chapters. He said he was starting from the beginning of book 30.
September 20, 201510 yr Too be honest if he wants to do back chapters he should start with Book 1. The Viz Translation might not be the best.... e.g. Alkanphel...
September 20, 201510 yr Alkanphel, Prukshutal, Kurumegnik, Zankles, Zelbebuth... There appeared to be an emphasis on the 'l'.
September 20, 201510 yr The typesetting on the latest chapter is very poorly done, badly photoshopped messes in those speech bubbles....
September 21, 201510 yr Sorry, not Advocacy, the new guys stuff. There's loads of fragments of grey in all the speech bubbles from poorly erased PS work.
September 21, 201510 yr Hey guys, Ciaran here. The guy responsible for the new translation. If you've got any questions, I'm all ears.
September 22, 201510 yr Hello. Welcome. I applaud your courage for coming here after attacking the group openly about how they do things. But I think the people here are mature enough to see past some childish antics, and this might be a good opportunity to start a dialogue. As I always say, can't we all just get along? Well, I've got a question for you. How long have you been a fan of Guyver? It's really refreshing to meet another guyver fan.
September 22, 201510 yr I echo what durendal said. you have my respect for coming here to us in such an open manner. my question... it's a hypothetical scenario based on the past of our own project. You know those manga sites that host other people's work and post ads on the pages thereby making a ton of money off other people's work? How would you feel if one of those sites start taking your work (inevitably it'll happen) and making money from what you worked on? In my case, I felt like they were stealing from me, this making me a hypocrite and I didn't want to be a hypocrite and this was why we stopped giving Yoshiki takayas work away for free and only to people who bought the books.what is your own view on that situation? would you be okay with them taking your work?I realise that the question may come across as loaded. I want to just put it on the record, it's not a loaded question, I am honestly curious about how you view this issue. It was a difficult thing for me personally to deal with at the time.
September 22, 201510 yr Hey guys, Ciaran here. The guy responsible for the new translation. If you've got any questions, I'm all ears. I'm really hoping you didn't join to start any trouble. There are good people here and the last thing they would want is to fight with you. I am glad you signed on to talk, if that is your intention. Good though that you're a Guyver fan.
September 22, 201510 yr Well, I didn't come on here to start anything. Just to say hi. To answer the first question, I became a fan when I watched the second Guyver anime adaption in 2011 if I remember. After that I read and watched all the stuff related to it, the figures are cool but I don't like the idea of paying with a lump of flesh. And I see where you're coming from about the read online sites, there in it for the money and not for good intentions other than to line their pockets, that's why there's so much of them nowadays. I don't like it when people upload to sites without your permission and thus profit off it, it's both an insult to the translator and the group in general. People need to come to the source instead of online reader sites, interaction with groups is always a good thing.
September 22, 201510 yr Yeah, but you can't really stop people from just taking it and posting it elsewhere if you make it public. The Advocacy exists to support the Guyver. There's like one tankoubon out every year, and it costs about $10 or so to order it online. It's a massive task you've taken on, Ciaran. Are you going to translate all of it?
September 23, 201510 yr Yeah I know, people will do it regardless of whatever anyone wants. Though I don't know how much of Guyver I'll do, it's really a side project I've been doing since I'm waiting for stuff to arrive from Japan. It's left me with a lot of free time when it comes to translating. Maybe I'll finish the volume I'm on, I'm really unsure at this point.
