Watched it. Liked it a lot.

Spoilers...

- There is no Mandarin. Not really. Ben Kingsley plays an actor who is playing the role of the Mandarin to cover up Killian's activities.

- What is believed to be a campaign of  bomb attacks is actually Extremis-enhanced soldiers overheating and exploding - industrial accidents, so to speak.

- Pepper is also enhanced, endangering her life to blackmail Tony, but she survives and becomes a superhuman!

- The armors aren't actually that important in the finale.

- Main focus is on the Mark 42. But all armors get destroyed in the end.

- Tony finally has the shrapnel surgically removed. And the arc reactor, as well.

I have to say I loved it, mostly. The parts I loved I really loved. The remaining 2% was okay.

have to agree with you durendal, overall it was ok.

action scenes were as per usual great.

the one liners and funny comments stark makes really pepped up the movie for me.

and your right, was surprised that i was one of about twelve people left in the cinema who actually waited for the scene after the credits.

without giving too much away, there'd definately be avengers2, don't know about ironman4 though.

Wow, we must be lucky then.  Ticket prices here is only $7.75, and that is already on 3D which includes free popcorn and a drink.  Regular 2D is at $5.5, but that's already at a high end cinemas.  I watched it in 3D since that's the only time slot available that I can squeeze into.

Wait, so this is coming out today, here in the states!?  F***!  Now I have to at least make an attempt to see it as I do have the day off from work.  Durendal, despite it being a 'meh' movie for U, would U recommend it due to the $4.75 ticket fee I'd have to pay and the 20 minute drive to the theaters that I'd have to make?

I would recommend you watch it.  Don't get me wrong, I love the movie.  I said "meh" mainly because it didn't have the "wow" factor that would prompt me to watch it again like some of the other Marvel Movies *cough* Captain America *cough*.  I would say it is worth the drive and the ticket price.  If not, watch it for the sake of Avengers 2.

I think that should there be an Iron Man 4, it would have to be after Avengers 2.  I mean, this is basically the start of Phase 2 of the Avengers.  Next up would be Thor, then Captain America, then Guardians of the Galaxy, which is logical given the ending in the first Avengers movie, then would lead into Avengers 2.  I personally liked how Marvel is handling the cinematic universe, where all the movies are related to each other, but have enough content as a stand alone movie.

I have to wait till May 10th to see it. :doubt:

Whatever they do with the Mandarin, I hope to God it's nothing like what they did in the 2007 Animated Movie. But frankly durendal is giving me the impression that it is the same thing.

I'm getting ready to go and watch the movie very early today, once I come back from the theater I will give my honest opinions about the movie.

great movie overall it is not a masterpiece by any means but it is memorable and does its job with what it has, a lot of smart moments, specially with how they handle the villains, also the flaws it the previous movies had have been fixed here (specifically the final battle), heck I did not even notice that the movie was 2 hours long, I totally recommend this movie if you like a lot of action, great comedy and awesome acting from robert downey junior then this movie is for you. 9/10

Hated it. My god it was garbage. I honestly do not see how people are liking it.

And there is no sarcasm there. I really did not like it overall.

I've heard professional critics call it the best MARVEL movie to date. They probably just don't want to be left out when Disney starts showering previews on critics they like. I'm glad the rottentomatoes.com score is dropping like crazy.

A few small scenes of humor were kinda funny, and the plot twist was ok ( I can admit, I did not see it coming)... But wow... The armors were underused, the action scenes way too quick.

Pepper getting Extremis? Stupidest thing ever, since they basically retconned it right out in the ending monologue anyway. Just a simple " Oh yeah, I fixed her." No weight to it at all.

Seeing some of the armors briefly that I already have toys of due to the "Concept" toys from the first movie toyline was kinda cool in a way... But everything happened so damned fast that there was no time to really catch them all.

The kid really was a total waste of time too. When I heard there would be one, I knew it wouldn't be a good sign.

And why did he not use all the armors when his house was being attacked? He had the ability to do it there, instead of trying to rely on a proto-type armor.

And Rhodey barely got to do ANYTHING. The guy who stole his suit did more with it than he did.

Ugh. Anyway, enough ranting, I've got to sleep. Got to get up for work in 3 and a half hours. Joy.

*THE NEXT MORNING EDIT*

Ok, I didn't HATE it, but it certainly is my least favorite of the Marvel movies. I don't know if it was just a bad plot, or directing... Or both. My points in the spoilers though are still points that I did not like about it. That much isn't going to change.

After the smart and witty first movie, and the funny but more action oriented 2nd movie... This one just feels disjointed. It tried to be funny, but didn't have the action to make up for a lot of it like the second movie did. Nor was it as smart or witty as the first. It tried to be a bit of a lot of things... Romantic Comedy/Buddy Cop/Sci-Fi Thriller/Heartwarming Family/Action movie... And it tried way too many things at once. And it just did not work for me.

While I respect your opinion I am going to have to disagree with you on most of what you have said, to me it felt very well paced and there was a lot more action than in part 2 which I consider the weakest of the 3, it is not by all means of the imagination but it IS to me one of the best marvel movies out there, it just amazes me how 50-50 the audience is with this film, I would expect it from something like amazing spider-man which has a lot of flaws but I did not expect it from this one after watching it, I mean I enjoyed it so much that I did not get of my seat to go to the bathroom (a first for me XD ) and the 2 and something hours felt like 1 hour. I would understand some people being pissed off by what it is revealed of the Mandarin but at the same time I respect what they did cause it is something you don't see often. I will continue discussing on spoilers now to defend what Matt said:

I understand your disappointment about the armors heck I was waiting to see the silver centurion armor but it did not appear or at least I did not see it properly but the thing is that this movie was not about the armors but about the man in this case Tony who feels underwhelmed after what happened in avengers to the point that now he suffers of PTSD which was handled superb by RDJ, we see a tony who is trying to find his place in the world of gods and super humans since he is just a man, plus now he is trying the best he can to protect what is really important to him which is pepper.

Speaking of pepper, it was not bad idea her having extremis since she does acquire in the comics, plus it helped raise the stakes for tony since what they gave her was an incomplete formula and there was a 50-50 chance of her not surviving which he can't afford and it makes sense that he took it away since she did not want to be in the superhero world and extremis is something he helped figure out so it is not out of his ability to take away. And finally to Rhodes, the movie was focused solely on tony to help develop his character after the events of avengers so it makes sense and I don't mind him having little to do since he is after all just a supporting character.

Also I did not mind the boy at all, to me he was actually enjoyable and harmless, he was just there to help out Tony figuring out where mandarin is, take care of his armor and most importantly help him when he suffered an anxiety attack which again was well done.

I might be a little behind in the comics... But as far as I know, Pepper never got Extremis in the comics. Only Mallen and Tony, She did get 2 different armors, and an arc reactor type device in her chest, but that was as far as that went.

oh yea, I remember that now, stupid me I can't believe I confused that with extremis :P she only had an arc reactor on her chest but the thing that I said about her not wanting a superhero life still stands, she was not comfortable with that thing on her chest.

Saw it yesterday. It was the best funny horrible movie ever. I liked the movie but it was sooooo pathetic! Mandarin was my favorite iron man enemy. And he was my biggest problem with this movie.

But Trevor rocked!!

And i agree with Matt. The armors were under used.

As much as I thought this movie was a bit of a mess, I still enjoyed the numerous armours (however massively depowered they were by the overpowered extremis men).

Here are images of all 42 Armours:

So I finally saw it last night.

I enjoyed it a great deal, but as everyone else, I also had a few complaints.

Mandarin... He didn't seem like that much of a threat to begin with. Tony all of a sudden gets really angry when asked about the Mandarin and publicly announces his address... Stupid. That in my opinion was worse than the fact that the Mandarin was an actor. I thought they pulled that off quite brilliantly and hilariously. On the other hand, they could have used The Avengers alien-attack as a reason to why the Mandarin would have alien rings, which he did not.

Yes, the Extremis soldiers were a bit overpowered, and the fact that he destroyed all his suits at the end made me angry... But I know why they did it. Stark had to prove to Pepper that he wasn't obsessed and for the audience's sake, they had to provide fireworks of epic proportions, I guess.

Too bad we never saw the Gemini suit in action. Hopefully it's in the next Avengers film or Iron Man film.

I saw it the first Friday it came out and I hated this film, to me this film is in the same catagory as Spirit of Vengeance which was a slap in the face to GR fans such as myself. Granted this film was no where NEAR as bad as Spirit of Vengeance but it still was complete garbage as far as I am concerned. I dunno I am an extremely harsh critic when it comes to movies, and IM3 was a complete disappointment.

Especially how they butchered the Mandarin

Iron Man 3, in my opinion was okay. I didn't like it as much as the first 2 movies ( Iron Man, Iron Man 2). I'm hoping that Iron Man 4 shows Pepper Pott's Rescue Armor.  I'm hoping to see Pepper fight in Iron Man 4. I am hoping there is more action from Tony Stark in Iron Man 4 and I hope to see more out of Tony with the Hulk Buster Armor in Avenger's 2 which I'm sure I will, like the first 2 films and the Avengers we saw Tony in the suit more. I didn't really care much for Iron Man 3  at all because there was more dialogue and subject matter I could care less for. I'm hoping Iron Man 4 will a huge improvement to where we see much more action. I know that production was wanting to explore Tony's character more without the armor; but that didn't quite work out for me, and my wife was pretty disappointed. My wife is a huge Iron Man fan. But it would have been cool to see him in the armor more ( more screen time in the armor than out of it) through out the movie. Too be really honest, I was very disappointed.Thats just my all in all honest opinion. I still like Iron Man. I just hope to see him more in action in the next up coming films. 3 was pretty boring.
