Bobby
i gotta admit, looking at bobby's avatar gave me the idea so thanks a lot to bobby for the inspiration... No problem. I'm honored.
*Jess♥
awesome larz!! you are certainly a natural at this I'd like to see what you could do when using traditional animation methods.
Larz Zahn
traditional? you mean like with a flash player? truth be told im makin it up as i go, that chrome deal was last minute.
*Jess♥
no, like with a pencil and many pieces of paper. using line instead of pixel. although flash can do drawn stuff, it depends on how good you are drawing with a mouse.
Larz Zahn
oh... really?? so.. anime isnt drawin on computers? or am i confused again, like i said, im way new at this.
*BananaKing
Like always, awesome stuff larz. You're like me when you make stuff, you make it up as you go along
*Jess♥
oh... really??so.. anime isnt drawin on computers? or am i confused again, like i said, im way new at this. drawing could be done using whatever medium hte artist feels comfortable with. for example, the art concept design for ubisoft is generally done straight into hte computer using a advanced graphics tablet that doubles as a screen. so it's like a digital canvas that you draw straight onto. with much anime work, you'll perhaps have all hte keyframes done in pencil, then put into hte computer and cleaned, and then the animators might use a program to sketch the tween frames. Larz Zahn
oh... i need to look into a tablet, that really sounds intriguing to me, doubt i have enough to get one tho. if i ever decide to try my hand at animation (an i will) how would i get my foot in the door? an thanks bk! ryuki, an all!
*BananaKing
I bought a small tablet and a pretty good animation software a while back but both are hard to use. Drawing on a tablet feels so much different than drawing on paper. My hand is so shaky with the tablet that my drawings come out looking horendous. I am planning on taking a course on animation at my local community college this summer so I can get a head start on my future career
*Jess♥
tablets are only really good for large strokes. not good for detail. unless you have a really good setup. also i gues sometimes the problem is confidence. larz.. to get your foot in the door.. well you'll hear this a lot and it's true. it's not what you know, it's who you know. if you can get in talks with somebody and manage to impress them then you have a good chance. so you have to work on your personal skills as well as your technical skills. on the other hand you can get your work submitted to competitions etc. but it's not as easy as getting a regular job... although that isn't so true these days. good technical animators.. are like resources. and nobody will care about you. so even if a teacher might tell you " do a good walk cycle and you got it made" it doesn't really mean a lot if you want to get a good career. concentrate on your strength and what you enjoy. i will never get a jopb as an 'aniamtor' even though i did a degree in animation. I am only suited to the role of producer or director, that kind of thing. i recognise my strengths and i will work on the skills that i will need. there is never any point in me doing a good walk cycle. i need to show good communication skills. i need to show i can plan a project and come up with sound ideas. larz, from what i can see now... I thik that you may be more suited to a key animator role. doing key frames and letting the animators do the tweens. you can adapt, and you have shown good spacial awareness.timiing could improve, but you learn that as you go along anyway. I used to be hopeless at timing.
Larz Zahn
actually... my timing is cause im a little lazy, i got fed up with it an just wanted it done quick. i dont want to bother an go back an redo the parts to make it flow smoother. heh. bk... thats freakin awesome!! i love your sig!! its kinda funny you mention adapt.. i see it as mimic. i see a sprite i like, so i imitate it until i can do it myself, then i can... change it around and draw other people, thats how i used bobby's avatar, and thats also how i did that bigger sho sprite i showed you a while back. i dont know if i'd want to get a job as a animator, but i would like to try my hand at it sometime, ya know, to see if i can, plus i have some really good fight scense in my head that still frames wont do justice. heh, im a dreamer. *BananaKing
Well I don't see myself nessesarily doing the key animations like ryuki said, but to be the guy that has all creative control over the project. You know what you should do larz? You should try and get some spare time and money and take an animation course like I am. Then you could have a professional look at your work while honing your already awesome craft.

DarkRider and my other friend like Dragon Knight more than the Japanese original.
