  1. I've never read Lord of the Rings. Though I've read Silmarillion, or Sillymarilion as I would like to call it. hehe. They summed up the entire lord of the rings trilogy into a few pages. Can you give a short description of the book you're looking for? I've read a fair share of classics, perhaps I've read it. You should really try the vampire chronicles of Anne Rice. I guarantee you, it's the complete opposite of what you'd imagine of Twilight. If you hated twilight, I think you might love the Vampire Chronicles. Lestat was already a cool vampire before Twilight. If you've seen the movie Queen of the Dammed, forget everything you saw in that movie as the movie sucked. It tried to compress 3 books into one movie, so it will obviously fail. Too bad Anne Rice stopped writing horror books and concentrated on religious stories instead.
  2. I'm going to stray off the traditional belief that a Guyver Zoalord is a super existence. Here is one possibility that may be considered for the sake of discussion. The advents consider the g-units as mere armor, or a peice of suit with no special enhancement capabilities. So if the chemistry of the advents biology is similar to that of a zoalord, wouldn't the g-units react the same as if the zoalords are advents? Meaning, no special abilities will be endowed them. Of course, this is assuming that Advents and Zoalords have the same biology. But we have yet any confirmation about this. Just throwing in some speculated X's and Y's into the equation.
  3. Hey, as long as you're not making up anything, that's cool. I'm even sure you know a lot more about spidey that I do, as I stopped reading comics for 10 years. I've only recently been trying to catch up with what's happening. And yes, Spidey comics during the 90's was a pain to collect. I think there was a minimum of 4 separate monthly spidey titles back then. I think the advantage of doing a spidey reboot is that you get to plant all the easter eggs you want.
  4. Or the male character designs thread, since most probably some of the earlier designs of the villains were partly funny. Your choice. To continue on, I think the portryal of Gwen as Spidey's love interest is parallel to Joe Q's dislike of MJ. And since they are portraying the early years of Spidey, of course Gwen would be part of it. As we all know, Gwen, Spidey, the Green Goblin and the thing they were involved in was a major Marvel Milestone that every spidey fans know about. Do you think we will see a tragic sequel to this?
  5. Oh crap! That sucks. I'm confused how that guy managed to sucker you out of $200. Shouldn't you be reporting this to the credit card company?
  6. Seen any good J-drama lately? I think I'm going into relapse due to my D-addiction.
  7. I wonder where Larz has gone to. We should be renaming this thread to the BK show, since it's only the king that's "performing".

So you're plugging your console to your monitor? I always thought that you play console with your TV. That's what I used to do anyway. Or is it the other way around that you plug your PC to your TV? These are the times that I feel like I'm getting too old and technology is starting to pass me by.

Traded in your huge toy for a mobile one eh? Good show. Though the solution to your plugging and unplugging things would be a simple AV switch and router.
  10. 面倒臭い [めんどうくさい] Mendoukusai. Troublesome. tiresome. Kono koto, mendoukusai na - this thing, how troublesome. If you watch Naruto, this is the favorite phrase of Shikamaru.
  11. Wow, now that's a bummer. I won't ask anymore. So, did you meet anybody while you were in Megacon? I bet there are lots of hot girls for your eyes to oogle.
  12. So what happened to the cute girl who lives in Illonois?
  13. To clarify my position, I was raised a Catholic, but now I'm agnostic. I believe that religion and science can be mixed together as long as the church stops being a hypocrit. As for the soul, our current technology may be insufficient to measure this, or even detect it's tangibility. Everything has a science to it, and only things that are unexplainable do we refer this to Religion. But as technology progress, some beliefs we have in our religion are being explained through science, and I believe this may also be true with the soul. The soul may be waves, radiation or some form of invisible force. When one passes away, why are there ghosts? Perhaps these ghosts are the remnants of the conciousness of those who passed away. What are these remnants? Could this be the very soul that we are talking about? Who knows, we still don't have the technology to know the truths behind these. But I still believe that what we call a "soul" may be called another "medium" in science.
  14. I don't know. I always percieved the term "comrade" to have a stronger bond than "friend". I mean, in military terms, a "Comrade-in-arms" is someone who will lay down their life for you. Something I find hard that a friend would do. As I see it, comrades share a distinct honor with one another, a trait that is quite similar to the traditional Japanese honor. Perhaps because I mostly see Russians use the term, and I often see them being honor bound with their comrades.
  15. The character designs in One Piece are something of an acquired taste. At first, I totally couldn't believe that someone as odd looking as Luffy is the main character in One Piece, add to that his silly devil fruit power to stretch like Plastic Man, I thought he was lame. but after seeing all his actions and his interaction with his crew and other people, I started rooting for him the same way I rooted for Naruto. Did they subbed it as "Nakama"? Even if it was cool, I feel frustrated that they will use "Nakama" instead of "Comrade". Even the scanlators of the manga is using "Nakama" which is really peeving me off. And believe me, "Nakama" is used a lot in One Piece.
  16. For the record, Thanos managed to break the shield because he was weilding the infinity gauntlet, not because he is immensely strong. Please stop posting unfounded data as it is really misleading.
  17. Many people does seem to have this confusion about Cap's shield being Adamantium. I was also one of the people who initially believed it was adamantium, until Marvel retconned this. Seems like Adamantium doesn't have the absorbtion abilities that Cap's shield has. But I think Cap's shield was broken a few times. One I could distinctly remember is when he was standing face to face with Thanos in Infinity Gems. You can just feel the awe as Cap was the only hero standing facing thanos. Too bad Thanos shattered his shield with just one blow. But still, them face to face was epic. I believe that Howard Stark would play a pivotal role in the creation of the Shield, and the ones in Tony's possession was more or less a prototype of the final product. Heck, it was even made to believe that when Stark was creating Vibranium (in Iron Man 2), the shield was a vital part of the process, only then to be used as a simple leveling tool. In fact, wasn't Howard Stark one of the founders of Shield? We are speaking of the Marvel Cinematic universe here of course.
  18. I think that with One Piece, it is en ensemble cast that makes it work. I mean, right now, you only have Luffy and if I'm not mistaken, Zoro and Ussop. Wait until Luffy gathers the rest of the crew. There are also emotional fights in the series, and you'll find that Luffy has a lot of "Heart".
  19. I certainly hope that is only the intro battle. I'm thinking that the real action will only begin when Luffy meets Jinbei. Nami seems to be headed to the forest to meet Jinbei and Luffy as well though with a different reason. Gomu gomu no hammer, somewhat a funny move seeing that Luffy himself is a hammer*. *hammer - in Japanese culture, those who can't swim are usually called hammer because of their tendecy to sink into the ocean, just like a real hammer. As for Zorro, I certainly hope that it didn't end like that. Hodi isn't even on crack yet. On an unrelated topic, I wonder what's happening with Buggy. After the events at marineford, it looks as if everyone was in awe of him due to him being in the crew of Gol D. Roger. It would be very funny and disappointing at the same time that after all these years, he's still a pushover.
  20. One piece is good. I do hope you'll get to enjoy it soon. As for Code Geas, here the spoiler for season 1: And for Code Geas R2, this is where things get crazy: My explanation might not be able to give a strong impact as compared to actually watching the show.
  21. Ugh, with time constraint and the need to have a phone immediately, I was left with no choice but to buy the Nokia C3-00. Yes, it's a nokia phone. I decided to go nokia again because I didn't want to have too many different chargers. But since both my phone are Nokia phones, I can simply use one charger. Also didn't want to get another car charger. I was thinking of getting the Nokia 2730 but the C3-00 is very close to it's price range. Since it is a qwerty phone with WLAN, I decided to get that instead. I must say that the ease of typing message is impressive in a qwerty phone. No longer do I have to wait in between keypress for double letters. Sucky thing is that it didn't include an SD card, which is probably why its price was very close to the 2730.
  22. That's really too bad. But I'm not sure how you can categorize the ending because the good guys and bad guys are somewhat distored, much like how Death Note was. In the end, it was all about sacrifice, but I felt it was a good sad ending. If you don't intend to watch this, can I spoil you? Might change your mind. Cool, episode 2 is out already? I'm going to get that when I get home. Regarding Gundam Unicorn, if you are a fan of the UC timeline, then you will love this. I didn't quite like X and much of the other alternate universe (with the exception of G). Unicorn has a solid story, but having a background of the UC timeline would greatly help you appreciate the story, because there are characters that were depicted in previous series, like Char and Minerva. Animation wise, it puts Gundam X to shame (think higher quality than Gundam 00). As I have mentioned on a separate topic, the dog fights are Superb and extremely cool, wherein the grunts just don't blow up, they can actually put up a good fight. I would definitely recommend this. A true Gundam fan will love this. Too bad I didn't pick up the novel of Unicorn while I was in Japan, didn't have any more space on my luggage (10 volumes).
  23. I don' t fiddle with my phone much, especially if it's a business phone. My old phone, I got it free from a subscription, so I didn't really have any choice for it. But since now I will be buying a new phone to replace the one that I just lost, I'm at a loss as to what I want. My current personal phone is an E66. Of course I need the basics like calling and sending short messages. I'm also going to need the capability to check email, and to do that, I'm going to need a WLAN capability. I'm not really interested in a hitech phone since my primary use of the mobile phone is to call. I'm not even interested in a touch screen because of my difficulty with it when I used an LG cookie (probably because it was a n entry class touch screen). But the thought of using it is starting to appeal to me. And since this is not my main phone, I don't want to spend too much time researching for features that I might not even use. I will try to look into the Sony Ericson, but their designs are kinda iffy for me. Major factor for me when I choose a phone is the design. Functionality comes as secondary.
  24. Code Geass Seasons 1 and 2 - Good choice. This is a good series with a sad ending. Kyou Kara Maou Eps 70+ - Haven't seen this yet so I can't comment much. Ayashi no Ceres - I'd suggest you skip this. Didn't have the same emotional impact as Fushigi Yuugi did (same author). Somewhat disappointing ending. Rurouni Kenshin - I'd recommend this up until the Kyoto arc only (roughly around episode 62). After that, it's all down hill. Ah My Goddess Season 2 - I like this, but I can't remember what happened here. X/1999 - Another good clamp series. The movie had me confused, but the overall setting was nice. Naisho no Tsubomi - Haven't seen this so can't comment. Amagami SS - ditto Yosuga no Sora - ditto My HiME - heard of it, but I was told it was disappointing. KareKano - heard of it but resists in watching it. Hajime no Ippo Eps 50+ - This is very good. Bastard! - Hilarious. Seen it but can't seem to remember anything of it. All that I can remember is Dark Schneider and some girl he couldn't kill. Orphen Revenge - Somewhat disappointing series. Only watched a few episodes. On another subject, I've recently acquired the third episode of Gundam Unicorn. I'm also planning to acquire Gantz as I'm currently reading the manga and I'm actually enjoying it. Didn't expect that I'd like this seeing I didn't like Hiroya's previous work, HEN. Lot's of eye candy. hehehe *drool*
  25. Nope. Didn't work for me the first time. Taking a break from fillers and then coming back again that is. I tell you, The original Naruto anime was cool, didn't even notice the fillers until the last arc. Then came Shippuden, and BAM, fillers intertwined with cannon story. No, sad to say, the fillers killed the anime for me. I had the chance to watch the Pain fight in Youtube, and by god, I didn't feel any excitement anymore watching it. I can say that you can spot quality fillers and fillers that milk the series. And my friend, the fillers in Naruto are just milking the series bad, really bad. And as long as people buy Naruto Merchandise that supports the show, which by the way is in majority due to the popularity of the manga, the horrible fillers in the anime will continue. My god, Corporate America has finally reach the Japanese industry.
