Nope, materials with crystalline structures don't dent... They crack/chip... and btw, even a diamond can crack/chip when hit by a rock at the right angle... It doesn't mean it's always easy to do so however... and if the units are based on organic technology then it matters that those units are older than human history... as that one unit may have just been defective or started to decay from lack of maintenance... Really, show me any man made object made of even the toughest known materials that can survive hundreds of thousands of years and remain in perfect working order? While Apollon's armor is made of the same material and so far has not been damaged despite being in multiple battles. In the Manga, when G1 and G3 met Imakarum for the first time and he blew them out the window, G1 fell all the way down from near the top of that Chronos Skyscraper to the sidewalk below and landed facing down... Now figure that G1 weighs 291kg and calculate how much force he landed with, never mind how hard he was hit by Imakarum... and both his body and CM remained intact... Even if he couldn't stand for a minute and needed Aptom to save him long enough to recover and go Gigantic. G3 also got blasted again by Imakarum with a hand blast at point blank range... This is after he had already demonstrated he could easily destroy whole building and while full body singed and hurt enough to collapse to the ground G3 was regardless still intact... Darzerb's napalm breath, as noted before is 3900 degrees, and the Guyver can't just shield the CM from fire that engulfs its whole body... So it can clearly take similar intense heat as the rest of the body with no threat of damage... Sorry but not even Titanium, which boils at 3560 K (3287 °C, 5949 °F), can take 3900 degrees but the CM material can... For the armor, even Titanium only has a tensile strength of 434 MPa (Titanium alloy armor plates can raise this to 1,140 MPa, for Titanium ATSM Grade 38)... versus Spider Silk at 1.3 GPa... Lampet Teeth is 3 to 6.5GPa... and that may not be the upper limit to organic based materials as those are low density examples and the Guyver is denser than normal organic matter... So a organic based armor can be many many many times more durable than any present man made armor... So even as thin and light weight as the Guyver is, compared to a actual tank, the armor should be able to take an incredible amount of kinetic energy... Really, shrugging off impacts that would shatter steel is the kind of force that would turn a normal human wearing full body armor into a liquidated smear with a crater large enough to then bury what's left but the Guyver can take that practically all day long... Mind, also that man made armor has limits like ductility vs tensile strength... Tank armor has to be flexible enough to take repeated strikes but that limits how strong it can be as the alloys we can make get more brittle as we make them stiffer and stronger and is one of the reasons why depleted uranium never gets used in armor designs... But organic structures can be both strong and flexible, which is why they try so hard to replicate the properties of spider silk, etc. as materials that can share those properties can be made into armor far more effective than we have now... but even going against man made tanks it's usually preferable to have a 76mm, and 90mm anti-tank guns... 30mm is just the upper limit for small aerial vehicles... The A-10 actually slows down a few MPH as it's firing its 30mm cannon... and like you said, even that is only used because rounds that penetrate the armor can be used to kill the tank crew rather than actually take out the whole tank but the Guyver isn't that easy to kill... So sure, not indestructible but clearly tougher than you're giving it credit for...

What if the user dies with the unit disengaged
zeo replied to Gazham's topic in Guyver Science / General Science Lab Forum
It's unknown if the unit will activate if the host is killed before they could call the armor but it has been theorized that it would as the unit is partly integrated into the host. The most obvious sign of this are the organisms on the host back that provide the actual link to the unit and also allow the host to communicate with other Guyvers even when the unit is not active. The organism itself is suppose to be a parasitic life form that the Creators discovered eons ago before they came to Earth... The Bio-Boost in its name suggest it can naturally Bio-Boost and explains how G1's forearm was able to grow into a clone monster of Sho with no additional mass and the parasitic nature was demonstrated when it tried to absorb G1... The CM, however, controls the organism and turns it into a symbiote... preventing the organism from consuming the host completely and instead merges and modifies the host for the Guyver form. The CM does have its own limited A.I. that the anime suggested is integrated to the host mind enough to react to friend and foe responses, as shown when the unit saved Tetsuro from a bullet and vaporized it in mid-air... a feat that would require precision and speed far beyond Sho's... But this link is also why Elegan shocking the CM resulted in the unit being deactivated because the shock also shocked the host brain that is linked directly to the CM... While there's the not so clear example of when Sho was mentally blocked from activating the unit, after having realized he had killed his father in self defense mode, but when his life was endangered the unit activated long enough to save him but the moment he realized it had his mental block re-established and De-activated the unit... Meaning the unit either self activated or simple instinct was enough and a dying brain may still cause that kind of trigger... So it's possible that even as the host is dying it can still be called but it's also possible that any interference between the unit and the host... Such as trying to cut out the organisms on the back, or equivalent, would also result in the unit activating as that falls under the unit protecting itself and its host... But that is speculation until we see that actually shown in the Manga... -
If the standard is tank armor then no... 20mm isn't enough... Apache Helicopters, Warthogs, etc. are equipped with 30mm in order to be able to take on tanks and even then it takes sustained firing. While keep in mind the Guyver armor doesn't have the same vulnerabilities as man made armor, one of the key factors of effective anti-tank rounds are the incendiary effect but Guyvers are all but incendiary proof and kinetic force that can shatter steel is the kind of kinetic energy that you get from tank range cannon shells. 20mm is effective against lighter armored targets but it's not the weapon you use to go after tanks... Consider, the concept of the Guyver is that it was originally some sort of universal spacesuit/armor for the creators... In space you have to deal with things like micro-meteorites, which can hit you with the force of a grenade... The Guyver can clearly withstand a lot more force than a grenade... The Guyver can punch hard enough to penetrate any regular Zoanoid armor and with some effort they can overcome the armor of some hypers... In the Manga, G1 managed to break through Zerebubuth's back armor with maximum force, feet, first, hit... Despite it being impact absorbing enough to withstand the normal Guyver punch... Logically, the Guyver is tough enough to withstand its own blows... and there's a reason why even Chronos relies on Enzyme based acid to dish out any real damage to the Guyver. There's also the less official example of the OAV, in which Chronos literally fired artillery at G1 and it had no effect... So while I agree that the Guyver can be damaged by conventional weapons that it still has to be high range weapons above anything we would us on anything short of a heavy tank... Something like that scene in the movie Battleship where they tricked the alien to stand on deck just as they fired the cannon is the ideal situation to do serious harm to a Guyver... Preferably point blank to the head ;-p Followed immediately by a MOAB to keep the body from going out of control...
-
I can see a MOAB, Daisy Cutter, and Battleship cannons being pretty effective but not weapons you can mount on regular vehicles... Something like a Humvee with mounted weapons or even a AVC with mounted cannon can't really do much to a tank... So should probably clarify it to be vehicles actually meant to take on tanks... Like a tank, Apache helicopter, etc... The Guyver can easily withstand kinetic strikes that can shatter steel with little effect and intense heat that would vaporize just about any known material... Darzerb breath is 3900 degrees and the head beam barely even singes a Guyver and that's a infrared laser intense enough to rapidly burn through steel. So Bio-Armor is tough enough that it should take some pretty hefty firepower to cause any serious damage... While the CM is a vulnerability, but it's not exactly fragile either... of the three original units even though all three dormant units were blown up with enough force to send them hurtling hundreds of feet apart from each other but only one cracked... Mind, Apollon's armor is made of the same material... So random shrapnel isn't likely to be enough... There is also the factor of the unit protecting itself... Head beam can vaporize a bullet in mid-air... Sonic busters can destroy missiles, RPG's, etc before they hit... Pressure Cannon held can act like a directional shield... and the Hyper Sensors make it very hard to ambush it too...

Define conventional?

Many organic structures are stronger than man made ones... Spider Silk, for example, is stronger than Kevlar (at least the version enhanced by Graphene) and that's not even the strongest organic material as it only has a tensile strength of about 1.3 GPa, but Lampets teeth are 3 to 6.5 GPa and it's just a combination of iron and protein structures... Organic beings are also not limited to just organic materials, even if they were the organic matter is carbon based and carbon structures can be one of the strongest known... Like diamonds, etc. Keep in mind that the actual cellular and molecular structure of the material is key to how strong it can be... Human bone's, for example, aren't composed of any material known to be very tough on its own but because of the way our bones are structures that they are up to 5x stronger than steel of equal weight. Calcium, on its own, is barely harder than lead just to put that into perspective... So couple strong materials with strong designs and the resulting product can be incredibly hard to damage... The anime, for example, shows the standard Zoanoids absorbing the impact of bullets... So it's likely not just a matter of how tough but how much energy the Zoa-Armor can absorb... Armor piercing only works if the round has enough energy to actually push through the target... Reactive armor, that can alter density and flexibility, can be very light and still stop heavy rounds by essentially spreading the impact energy over the entire surface of the armor... Same reason you can sleep on a bed of nails... To put this in perspective, note that even non-bullet proof animals like a bear are hard to kill with standard firearms... Thick skin, with thick layers of fat act as natural protection that may not stop the bullet from penetrating but prevents it from reaching vital organs and doing enough damage... Thick bones also gives a chance for small rounds to ricochet off parts like the skull... and that's all from a animal that isn't designed to withstand bullets, just showing how tough normal flesh and blood can be for a large animal, let alone a Zoanoid engineered to be a weapon... And that's not even going into angles, etc. that can effect whether the round transfers its energy directly to target or gets deflected... For example, last year there was a incident where a 9mm bullet ricocheted off a armadillo and hit another person... Btw, a interesting real world research project is being conducted by some Dutch scientists that involves replacing keratin, the protein responsible for the toughness of the human skin, with this spider silk protein by using the same kind of genetic engineering that gave us a goat that can produce spider silk in its milk... The scientist estimate that they could do this and then apply treated skin graphs with the end result of a human who can withstand up to .22 cal rifle rounds... and that's with no other enhancements like making the skin more armor like...

Not all weaknesses can just be removed if it's based on the intended Zoaform design... For example, one of the reasons Vamores have a slow rate of fire is because they use a chemical laser that produces toxic byproducts that their bodies have to deal with each time it is used... So it takes time to cycle before they can safely fire again... Another example are Zoaforms that use chemical explosives will always run the risk of those chemicals being triggered by an external chemical... among other examples... It's pretty much impossible to prevent all potential vulnerabilities, especially with highly specialized zoaforms...

Silver in mythology was primarily as a symbol of purity and thus a ward against evil/corruption... For Zoanoids, it depends on the Zoanoid, what many seem to be forgetting is simple bio-chemistry. Silver and most silver compounds have an oligodynamic effect and are toxic for bacteria, which makes them effective in Anti-Bacteria and Anti-Microbial usages. Keep in mind that there are all sorts of Zoaforms and depending on their particular form and ability they may have a vulnerability that normal humans wouldn't have or have a worse sensitivity to something. There's also different forms of metals, like liquids that can be poisonous/toxic... Heavy metals especially can accumulate in the body and be absorbed through the skin... Mind, a legend could be based on truth that is simply distorted or exaggerated and doesn't have to be 100% effective on all creature types as Werewolves are only one of a entire of shape shifters, in this case Zoanoids. After all there are people who are allergic to all sorts of things... including plain old water... So not impossible for Zoanoids to have weird vulnerabilities for at least a certain type... In general, though, it's unlikely any one thing will effect all Zoanoids... However, all Zoanoids are created with a virus used to alter their DNA/RNA... So something like silver could possibly be used to interfere with that process... Possibly increasing the chances of a Lost Unit, if not outright interfere with the Zoanoidification process... So, someone still being processed could possibly be effected...
-
It depends on the Zoaform, different types have different level of durability and there's multiple classes... The lowest is the Scout Class, made more for stealth they are fairly lightly armored. So heavy small arms may be effective enough... The standard Zoanoid Class varies as some are more armored than others but unless heavily armored then anti-personnel class weaponry that are effective against armored targets should be effective. Caveat being the brain or heart have to be destroyed to provide a one shot kill as Zoanoids can withstand more physical damage than a regular human and even when penetrating their armored skin their bodies are generally much more durable than a regular human's. They're also hard to kill with radiation, so if you tried to nuke a large number of them that those not killed outright by the blast will still be able to fight afterwards... Hypers take durability to the level that you'd need weapons that normally would be used to take out tanks but upper range Hypers and Neo Hypers are even more durable and could put even a heavy tank to shame... Especially, those capable of generating barrier shields like the Zoalords have... Though, any Zoaform may also have a weakness that could maybe be exploited... Like Zoanoids with liquid explosive weapons could be triggered to blow them up with their own weapon, but you probably wouldn't want to be very close to them when that happened ;-p But means certain weapons may be effective against specific Zoaforms more than other weapons... So some variance on how effective any specific weapon would be...

Don't think so, mind that his source of income in the first movie was never explained either... While he wasn't exactly living it up in the apartment he was shown in the second film. Could be he was working, there's lots of low wage jobs you can get and eck out a low income living... Some don't even ask who you are... Though, one motivation he could have had of doing so would be to stay off the grid but Kronos apparently didn't know who he was as the identity of the host of the Guyver wasn't passed on before Kronos LA was destroyed. But, if he was paranoid then that could have been a valid reason for him to take money off criminals but the only scene we're shown is of him stopping criminals and not taking their stash... Short of him completing the crime himself, over the dead guard and everything, it doesn't appear he did that...Besides, he had next to no money when he met Cori...

Well, unlike the Manga/Anime/OAV versions the Live Action is an actual full time symbiote... similar to say Carnage of Marvel Comics. The sense of power it provides, at the very least, could be similar to being high on drugs or at least adrenaline... While, like Sully pointed out, he's kinda written that way from the first movie as they made him sort of a stereotypical American teenager, hyped up on hormones, and they're usually portrayed with a hefty dose of denial and angst, especially when dealing with girls ;-p Getting rejected by his first GF probably didn't help either in the second movie... If the time and budget had allowed, they'd probably have had him try to get therapy and put on medication to deal with "it" ;-p And of course, show the psychologist as a patient in the psych ward afterward ;-p

Mind, since there's no detailed official data file to draw such information from that any discussion on this is unofficial but based on what is shown and what little the data files do state I believe we can conclude the following.. The Guyver technology draws its power from a apparently energy filled dimension called the Boost Dimension, which is also where the unit is stored when not in use. Initial activation of the unit creates a direct link to the Boost Dimension that allows a rapid infusion of energy into the host and thus empowers the Guyver... From that point forward the unit's gravity control orb acts as a trickle charger, continuously siphoning energy from the Boost Dimension at a rate sufficient to maintain the charge and grant the Guyver it's level of regeneration... It doesn't mean the Guyver can never tire but as long as it paces itself it can literally go on forever or until the host is no longer to mentally go on... We know from the official data file that the host internal organs are either replaced by superior versions (heart and lungs) or regressed/removed as unnecessary as the Guyver doesn't need to eat, etc. The Gigantic draws upon this base and mainly differs in that vastly increases how much of its mass is composed of energy, essentially turning the physical form into a kind of energy construct and is why losing too much energy can cause it to collapse and de-activate... But the Gigantic has it's own gravity control orbs, a additional one in each chest plate, that combined with the host unit makes three and all three are continuously siphoning energy from the Boost Dimension... So, unless the Gigantic is drained of too much energy faster than it can replace it then it should last indefinitely... Just like the host unit... Exceed form takes this to its logical conclusion by using the power amps to amplify the energy siphoning process to a massive scale but means access to the Exceed form likely means the Gigantic can siphon all the energy it could ever need and thus would only lose too much energy if the host is careless and allows energy levels to drop too low... Mind, a Zoalord relies on a charge within its Zoacrystal for most of their power and that needs a external method to recover that energy afterward... Unlike a Guyver they don't self recharge... and is one of the Guyver's key advantages. Also, it adds to the reason why a Guyver Zoalord would be so dangerous as it essentially would remove the Zoalord's charge limit...

For scale, the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake released 9,560 Gigatons of TNT equivalent and you can look up how much damage that managed to do... Some fan sites like Stardestroyer.net actually have calculators you can use to figure these things out... But to give you a general idea... A asteroid capable of causing world wide mass extinction would be in the 100 Teratons range... Even a micro black hole with the mass of a mountain could evaporate (Hawking's Radiation) and blow up with the power of around 100 Gigatons and it still wouldn't be a great day on Earth for life to still exist... To blow up the moon, not just break it apart, you'd need more than 37E21 kg of TNT... Basically, you'd need 1/3 to close to half the moon's mass to be TNT, depending where it's placed. So the amount needed to destroy a planet really starts to get crazy... Mind, the Death Star has a power output greater than all the energy emitted by the Sun at any one time. Though, you could get around this with certain weapon types... Like a black hole, in the act of consuming the mass of the planet it would in turn help fuel the black hole and keep it going until the whole planet was sucked up and thus give the black hole the mass of a planet... So needs a lot less starting energy... To put that into perspective for Guyvers, a normal Mega Smasher easily has the power to destroy a skyscraper and the original inspiration for the Smashers were apparently Godzilla's Atomic Breath... So, while there's no official numbers we can basically assume the normal Smashers are equivalent to a atomic bomb... at least 50,000 kilotons or more. While the Gigantic is specifically 100x the normal Guyver's and easily has enough power that even incidental discharge, like from two Giga Smasher beams hitting each other, is still enough to possibly kill everyone in a city wide area (explanation why Sho didn't want to use the Exceed Smashers against Khan's Dragonlord form and his Giga Smasher equivalent dragon breath attack). So that increases to at least the low Megaton range if not more. Mind, the single most powerful known nuke ever created by man has a yield of about 50 Megatons... If your character has a base form already as powerful as a Guyver and the unit increases this by 500x then you're actually looking at a strength level that can lift up to 20,000 tons... Assuming the Unit boosts by peak human potential values... So your character can easily have 5x or more powerful smashers than a Gigantic's... Though, given your units unique technology it could easily be more but 5x a Gigantic is more than enough to take out entire cities, small islands, etc. If the Gigantic is similarly greater in how it increases power level then you could achieve firepower in the Gigaton range and that'll be enough to take out small moons, wipe out entire states, etc. Mind, forces of nature can still be more powerful but 100 Gigatons could probably take out something the size of Texas... You don't need to reach 100 Teratons to still make it hard for life on Earth to continue... For anything more powerful... Why not just have your character make doomsday weapons on his ship... Even Thanos uses technology and not just rely on his physical abilities...
-
Well, let's see... you put his strength at a level that can lift 5000 tons but that's only about 12500x vs the normal Guyver's 100x, a tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of the power needed to destroy a planet... Even the Exceed's Giga Smashers can't destroy a whole planet... We're talking quite a lot more than a order of magnitude more power than any of his other abilities except the void powers. Now for the Gigantic form you increase this to the power to destroy whole stars... You basically created a character with more firepower than a Guyver Zoalord... More firepower than even a Warrior Matrix Enhanced Gigantic Zoalord Guyver... More powerful than the GWotG Anubis... More powerful than Galactus, destroyer of worlds... Even the newest Death Star that can destroy multiple planets and eat suns to power itself is less powerful... It takes about a million Earth's to equal the mass/size of the sun, so destroying stars is another big major multiple orders of magnitudes of even far more insane power levels... So exactly who do you expect to ever stand up to this character? You can basically take the entire WG cast, the entire WG2 universe cast, the entire GWotG cast, the Entire Guyver Manga cast all combined at once and your character would still win if they're all on the same planet when he fires... Zero chance of survival! Meaning, if comparing to Thanos, it would be more like when he had the Infiniti Gauntlet and would only lose if he allowed it like Thanos did...
-
Excellent artwork, compliments to rhardo... Cool personality and backstory as well... Just seems a bit all over the place on power levels and on the extremely too powerful scale for some of the abilities... Who exactly do you expect could ever go against this character? Mega Smashers that can destroy whole planets pretty much trumps everything, your character can probably take out Guyver Zoalords with ease with that kind of firepower, never mind the Null Void ability just erasing them...
-
The data file uploaded was a early draft, but keep in mind that while the Gigantic is more powerful that like a Zoalord not all the abilities are equivalent... While there is still a fair bit of guess estimation going on because there are still plenty of details the official data file still doesn't cover and physical strength is one of those details. What the official Data file does cover is that the the Giga Smashers are 100x, the 12 power amp crystals amplify the unit's gravitational energy through the boost dimension for up to a 20x increase in raw power (applies to things like the Gravity Knuckle Punch (aka power punch), etc), main head beam orb is 5x and the two side orbs are 1x each, swords extend to 3 meters or can whip out for a larger radius range... So the only thing we really have to draw upon for physical strength is what has been observed in the manga and the energy output of the head beam orbs, since they represent the approximate energy level contained within the physical body and essentially serves as a heat vent with a weaponized focused discharge... Meaning the Gigantic is probably around 5x-7x in strength but can perform 20x attacks and 100x ultimate attack with the Giga Smashers. This compares to the WG with 4x strength and with only a few exceptions (more powerful head beam, faster regeneration, more adaptive, harder to destroy, physically faster and more agile) the Gigantic is more powerful in just about every other way...
-
Well, not all DC characters are extremely powerful... All the human characters, except for those who access alien super weapons like the Green Lantern Power Ring, would all be below the Guyver power range. Some of the Meta Humans are also fairly limited, like the version of Starman that was a living human star could only lift up to around 50 tons and fly around Mach 2.5 in atmosphere and he was still more powerful than a good number of other Meta-Humans... Much like the Marvel Mutants, the DC Meta Humans range from barely any power to rivaling Superman... So there are still a range of characters that could be pitted against the Guyver... Not everyone in the DC Universe is in Superman's power range any more than everyone in Marvel's Universe are in the Hulk, Thors, Silver Surfer, etc power range. For example, Cyborg vs a Guyver would probably be a good match up...

I read here http://www.warriorguyver.com/oldsite3/datafiles/dfactf/darknovaguyver.htm Dark Nova can slowing time to 1/1000 normal so if Angel Guyvers Speed levels is: Run=0 to 7,500 MPH / Fly=0-39,000 MPH she will become run=7 mph and fly=39 mph and Dark Nova will become run=3,750,000 mph and fly 45,000,000 mph so Dark Nova should win...right ? Here are the data file about Angel Guyver http://www.warriorguyver.com/oldsite3/datafiles/dfedf/angel.htm Well, the time dilation would definitely give an advantage but not necessarily a clear one... 1) Time dilation is a range limited effect, only up to about 300 meters... and as a side effect of using her full shields it means it can only be used in situations that she would be fully shielded and limit her combat options to what she can do while fully shielded... 2) Angel can temporarily double her normal speed and while on Earth she can use her EM powers to accelerate through the Earth's EM field up to near light speed, along with the ability to teleport, escape into Hyper Space when in danger, and use Worm Holes for FTL... So unless she stays still too long or focuses too much on hand to hand battle then she may not have to worry about the time dilation effect too much... Mind, Angel's EM powers does mean she has a fair bit of ranged attack abilities and as long as she stays outside of the 300 meters range of the effect then she can maintain her full speed... 3) Angel has plasma wings that can be used offensively, along with her own shields that can keep most attacks away from her physical body, and that means it's a bit harder to take advantage of her in hand to hand, even with a huge speed advantage... So, it's something Angel would have to watch out for but doesn't mean DN would win automatically...

Hello, and welcome to the forum... we're not anywhere near as active as the Japan-Legend forum that you also posted this topic on but give it time and there will be at least some replies to your query... My own opinion is women in the official Manga are still under utilized... Though, the series is a bit aware of this, like when Balcus first became aware of Shizu's Zoalord form and basically expressed surprise, possibly a bit of shock, that she was a woman... Though, it's understandable coming from Balcus since he's over 500 years old and probably still holds onto old world sensibilities and since he's the primary one behind the zoaforming that it can also possibly explain the general lack of more female zoaforms as they are basically Chronos army and most of the Zoalords have been around longer than modern ideals of equality have been in effect... Though, there is a question of whether females are harder to Zoaform and the possible increased danger of rendering subjects infertile but that's just speculation... Anyway, like the fan-fic for this site shows, many of us would want much more significant roles for female characters...
