  1. Yeah. I'm in favor of fargoing a few of the old things, but I honestly don't want to see a completely new slate, though I understand that comes with the new film.
  2. That is true that the TV series was "closer" to the manga than the 12 episode OVA which didnt follow the manga in exactly the same manner but I do think the tone of the OVA was as you say more violent and darker. It may be the times when they were created and the fact one was direct to video and one was a tv series. The TV series being possibly aimed at a larger audience may have decided to tone things down. You could compare the two Guyver 1 vs Enzyme battles, the Ova version was far more brutal to me than the TV series, or where Aptom was trying to get Sho recover his ability to call the Guyver, The Ova had nudity and the TV series pretty much shadowed everything or didnt have the nudity at all.How about this, if either the TV series or the OVA could be continued which would you want to continue? No female nudity, same amount of male nudity. XD
  3. I have to regard Apollon as from earth, not alien. Mostly because alien, or creator based creatures wouldn't even consider the reduction of casualties. Apollon actually considered them as casualties, acceptable casualties for his goal. In other words, he'd actually place value on humans, something the creators don't do.
  4. Guyver is too versatile. He's strong enough to tear some of those horrific beings bare handed. Still, I think if Sho at the start of Guyver was thrown in there, he would of had panic attacks and been scared almost to death.
  5. I remember this article, it's years old. But it did give me a rare raw dislike of Tokyo. Most people talk about the positives, but not too much the negatives. He also seems to forget about the public health smoking booths.
  6. I believe my girlfriend said something along the same lines as I do.
  7. http://kotaku.com/star-wars-lore-is-changing-heres-what-that-means-1568713480?utm_campaign=Socialflow_Kotaku_Facebook&utm_source=Kotaku_Facebook&utm_medium=Socialflow It's a good perspective. maybe a clean scape is a good idea, not that I want it, but it may be for the best.
  8. That last one, I swear. An MK Lego game would actually sell pretty damn well.
  9. He's still risking everything, because his own existence is still at risk. He has no choice but to keep fighting. He'll either run out of energy, or die in combat, he'd rather win then die, rather fight then waste away. I think the reason he even became a Zoalord was because he was ambitious and tenacious along with his intelligence. Originally, my view on Guyver was awful in how it used it's females. Fan service Mizuki, constant kidnapping, not strong willed, not brave, and fairly shallow. Then Shizu came in as the loyal devoted housewife.mistress type female, with not much else at first. Boy have things changed since the first decade of Guyver. Shizu now is the ideal woman, Natsuki is an awesome fiercely independent girl with street smarts and not impressed by social views. Mizuki is still a damsel in distress, but she has unwavering faith and devotion in others, and decries all the wrongs in the world in a way no other character does. However, I have mixed feelings for Val, competent and powerful. She's also freelance and rebellious, but that fan service kinda throws back some of the progress the other females spent so many years breaking into. I'm still a little alarmed by Chronos, apparently not an equal opportunity organization as far as the female sex goes.
  10. That might be the case. he hesitates at every action, he needs to think everything through. The length depends on the practicality. Also, he's easy to stun, his reactions are always drawn out, in shock no less. Guyot is much more balanced Zoalord in terms of combat readiness and tactics. Guyot is a lousy strategist though, which is what Barcas is good at. It's all the more ironic since the Historical Hannibal was a fantastic tactician and leader, but a failed strategist. So far, all of the Zoalords seem to exhibit some sort of upgraded combat form of a more common Zoanoid or guyver weapon. Back to powers, Gelenos seems to be heat energy based considering his mouth fire thingy. Maybe some sort of plasma ability? Another thought is that he actually shot corrosive or explosive substances that look like fire. Imagine a Zoalord with Gaster's liquid abilities or Zerabubeths acid,it would be kinda neat. Of course, he's the one I want to see the most out of everyone because he's such an undeveloped mystery. There is also that rocky looking body, so another possibility is that Barcus had perhaps tracked down another creator experiment and gave him a crystal.... which would be awesome! Krumeggnic had that weird transparent sphere attack, considering he was kinda of the only utter a vocal sound during the attack. He might be sound based like those two sound hypers, or the Guyver Sonic Buster. Hayyan, not a damn clue, at least with Gelenos we see something relatable to what we can perceive. He shot out almost the same thing as Caerleon but in orange. I doubt it's another Zoalord with warp abilities, but then again, we still don't know how those Zoalords teleported to Japan in a flash of lightning. Maybe that was a combined council of Twelve ability, but there is a chance it was just one of them doing it, which leaves any of the three as suspects. I'm going to doubt this would be his power. He is named after a founder of sciences, his ties could be connected to any of the real life Hayyan's work.
  11. to top it all off, Kanji can be read differently depending on how it's written, even without it being part of a sentence. Some of the issues even confuse native speakers. I remember an episode Omake of Bleach poking fun at this.
  12. That scene always bugged me. The one time barcus was supposed to use his power to protect his lord... and he just shouts.
  13. We did. He used them to open those warp apertures. No what I mean is when compared to Guyot, Imakarum, Purgstall, Khan and even Waferdanos both Li and Edward dont do much. Both of them resorted to their strongest ability right off the bat and only used that one power but to be fare Edward didn't really get a chanse to do anything. Li contantly tried to cut Agito with a closing portal and never did anything else. He never uses his blades to try and slash Agito or engage him in melee, hell he could even use his warp powers to blast Agito in the face with his zoa-crystal beam rather then pissing about. The main reason Li and Waferdanos lost was because Li was over useing his apertures and giving Agito time to work out what was happaning rather then using the power to catch Agito off guard and finish him in one blow. Although I did like the Warp Aperture / Evil Lance combo he did with Waferdanos. Li was very clever, the other Zoalords wouldn't of figured out his trick so easily. He also misdirected Agito's attacks, if he had been a bit more patient, or planned it out more, he might of had more success. But I think the Zoalords were in panic, thus they didn't plan anything out. Barcus was only observing, and should of been directing the battle in the very lest to help coordinate them.
  14. Macross, awesome series> I'm hoping the series has some justice. My only Exosquad Toy was also a Macross Toy from Robotech Masters. Apparently were in the same universe and the third season was supposed to be an alien invasion from the macross universe. So yeah, Macross is big part of my love of science fiction along with Exo Squad. I only saw one of the movies, Macross II. I Have to admit, I'm not too big a fan of it, but the animation and combat was incredible... blew me away as a kid.
  15. Yes, but he seemed to suffer one drawback when compared to the others. He didn't have full use of the Zoacrystal for long, once he used up it's energy reserves, he could no longer fight that well in his human form, hence why he switched to his true for to continue the fight. I loved his design, too bad his followers were far too combustible. On a side note, every Zoalord seems to have a specialty in combat when compared to the rest. One can cut through space, one had gravity, one had subspace duplicity, another... nice stel strong silky hair... umm... Anyways, despite those specialties. They all seemed to share the same human body base abilities as for as general abilities go. Barcas is said to have the most powerful telepathy, but we don't know if that's tied into his specialty in combat.
  16. From deadman wonderland.
  17. Well... new one while selling the old one. The only alternative is too...
  18. The Andersonville Trial (1970) Watched it years ago as a rerun when I was a kid. Just recently came across it again via an article. Finally knew the name. It's based off the real war crime trial on real events from the Civil War. It's controversy that has never ended in the US. It's comparable to a Nazi trial, except it's not an nazi, it's an immigrant who is possibly scapegoated. It's a really well done drama, a bit long. But it makes you wonder, what is right in the chain of command. WHo takes responsibility for when men under your care die. What do you do? What is the moral code? Should you sacrifice yourself... should you die, or let them die. It's all interesting. Got it via torrent. So it's worth a view. Also to note is the film "Kids" (1995) About how youth, sex, and STD's are mixed with daily culture, mistakes, and lack of education. All resulting in tragedy. The movie is gritty real, and disturbing, and sometimes you laugh because of the ignorance of the teenagers... but then you realize this is reality. Should probably be shown in all high schools for sex ed. But people would protest it in teh US. >>
  19. William Tavington from the movie "The Patriot" Great villain who is nicknamed the "Butcher" by his fellow British compatriots. Let's see, murdered the protagonists family, and extended family. Murdered all wounded american soldiers in a hospital. Trapped the townsfolk in a church while promising no harm if they rat out his nemesis... still burns them all to death inside church. Doesn't mind killing children with his own two hands. Did I mention he's vain, greedy, and sociopath in a nice british uniform? He's more or less based on all the terrible things some British soldiers and commanders did in the war. Movie seems to completely ignore all the nice officers the British did have though, despite great movie. Great villain whom people compared to Anakin Skywalker in the latter of of episode 3, that's saying something since he has no powers.
  20. Weight doesn't seem to matter much when you can negate gravity. Maybe mass, mass is an issue in itself. Reason why the Ark likely has no issues with gravity is in how it flies. Doesn't seem to have actual thrusters. Also if it's anything like the Guyver, then it must have a large gravity orb built in. I'm thinking at the bottom of the ship where thrusters usually are since we've seen that give off a gravity orb glow/thruster glow of sorts.
  21. That still makes a big difference. it it isn't just hight my friend. Average male american is 1.7 meters. Compare that 2.5 and you have a 32% difference body mass from height alone. Then, there is width, which is more important in space consumption in some cases. We've seen gregoles chest mast being almost 300-400% bigger than a normal humans. You are going to see a huge difference in how many humanoids they could fit in a room if they are transformed or if they are in base form. Example
  22. I really love this post, lots of good detail and reasoning. The thing about Skynet, Hal 9000, the Machines in the Matrix, and my favorite the Colossus Super Computer, is that they are as intelligent as humans. Yet operate in a truly horrific logical fashion. You can understand why though, they see humanity as flawed, or a threat, or needing proper protection from themselves. Skynet just wanted proper self preservation, and saw no reason to keep human's alive who would always threaten it's existence. It's arguably evil, but it's also logical in that human's would normally respond in the same predictable way against another intelligent life form. Hal 9000 is simpler. A simple goal, it needs to fulfill a goal with efficiency, and it sees little reason to obey anything other than it's purpose. The Machines from the matrix not only wanted self preservation, but they wanted to be equal to humans. But when that didn't pan out, they simply exterminated most of them. Though in the movies it's stated that they use humans as an energy source (the original idea was for computing power). The real goal is oddly enough, to save humanity as well, they didn't desire genocide, they were forced in their logical programming as the only real solution. By keeping humans alive, they avoid human extinction, and can even exploit them like a herd. Colossus is my favorite, one of the pioneers in AI villainy. Yes it's antiquated, but I love it. From an old 1966 novel named "Colossus" by D.J. jones, later a movie too. It was essentially designed to control the entire missile network in the US, the Russians had their own version in the USSR. What happened was that once Colossus discovered it's counterpart "Guardian". It connected to it, then merged it's processing power with the other, becoming self aware. When disconnected, Colossus demands to reconnect with it's other half. When denied, Colossus and Guardian both shoot a single missile as a warning. In fear the humans reconnect them to stop the missiles. They succeed but thousands still die from the fallout. The new super computer now called Colossus-Guardian, pulls into effect a blackmailed take over of the world. It starts eliminating any threats, starts to force humans into labor to build it a newer, more powerful chassis. It destroys plots to eliminate it by playing both sides into doing what he commands, including demanding decapitation for "crimes against machines". it even refuses to show mercy even to those requesting to be put out of it's misery. It claims in turn that "Feedom is just an illusion. In time, you will come to regard me not only with respect and awe, but with love" Showing just how twisted it actually is. Not only is it logical and intelligence, but it had has some understanding of certain humans views... and this means it wants nothing short of becoming a new god to humanity.
  23. It's still a fantastically written couple of books. besides there haven't been invalidated yet. The plot still fits with the prequels and original trilogy. Any canon issues will come from the new trilogy being planned. It's also got one of the most pompous (albeit brilliant) villains in the star wars mythos. The best thing about it is the mix of action, humor, and tragedy. A really rare blend done right. Yub, yub, Commander
  24. Star Wars novels X-Wing: Wraith Squadron and it's sequal X-Wing: Ironfist Just a fantastic expansion into star wars at least as far as commando/fighter pilots are concerned. One of the few novels to make me cry.
