Honestly it is hard to say. I know this is a half baked answer, but only time will tell what will happen. It is still far too early to come to any real conclusions.2 points

Share with us powerful words. Poems or short prose or speech etc. I think for this thread, it needs to be accessible so think about if somebody could read it in less than 1-2 minutes. Also, for speeches etc in hte form of videos, try to keep it short I think 5 minutes might be ok but 10 minutes is pushing it. My first share :-1 point

I did answer what I though was the better series, but I also felt that I had to answer to why the nudity from the OVA wouldn't fly in the TV series. Age could also be a factor, though both series appealed to teenagers. But in the manga, Mizuki said she was 16 when the events at Takishiro happened. Hence, for that reason, it could've been a censorship issue to avoid any legal issues/questioning. Age of consent in Japan is 14, but it most US states and European countries, it's 17-18 years old. So that could've been an issue as well. But I do feel that the TV series is better, because it's more "up to date" with times and technology, and it does flesh things out more and give hints at stuff later in the manga's storyline1 point

TV series! Much more fleshed out story, some things got snuck in that hinted at future events and explained things (the flash back that Shizu had of Agito in their youth, for one example), more characters were involved deeper into the story, and it was set out to be faithful to the manga from the outset (The OVAs were made to cash in on the manga, but out of fear of leaving cool stuff out, Team 5 got intro'd much earlier in the OVAs than in the manga or TV series). Also, no boobs? The TV series was made with US and European audiences in mind, and I'd bet some offense would be taken at seeing Mizuki naked (the Viz version of the manga had Mizuki redrawn in a bra and panties as well). OVAs can and do get away with a lot more stuff than something intended for TV does. And besides, later in the manga, we get to see Shizu and Val naked, I'd argue there that those looking for fan service didn't miss out on a ton, anyways LOL Sorry, I just took mild offense to the "no boobs" comment. I can admire the female form, but it's not very fan servicy IMO when Aptom was threatening to kill her and it was more of an attempted rape/murder scene than something I'd consider suitable for titillation, which very little of the manga scenes are aside from Val's ENF moments.1 point

the best line comes from Stan Lee's Spider-Man. "With great power, comes great responsibility."1 point

For me overall, I prefer the 2005 anime. Yeah the OVAs definitely had the better music, fight scenes, and animation(first 6 of course), but I prefer the fact that the anime sticks to the manga far closer than anything before it. And it still kept Murakami's Gun.1 point

What? I don't understand the question... How did they manage to walk it? because they live there. Testuro and Shou lived in Narisawa near Tokyo. Mount Minakami and Tekeshiro are over 180 km away. where does the difficulty come in?1 point

I really think that River has ad-ware on her computer. Ad-ware is any software package which automatically renders advertisements in order to generate revenue for its author. The advertisements may be in the user interface of the software or on a screen presented to the user during the installation process. The functions may be designed to analyze which Internet sites the user visits and to present advertising pertinent to the types of goods or services featured there. The term is sometimes used to refer to software that displays unwanted advertisements. In short ad ware is a form of Malware on your computer or a trojan. Trojan's also load ads on your screen. Pop up ads are not a good sign. Means someone might be getting ready to hack your computer or is using it as a bot network. By downloading Malwarebytes, this would resolve the problem. It works well with anti-virus because it is an application. So I advice anyone to use it. Here is the link https://www.malwarebytes.org/ Here is another website and its safe and it has malwarebytes http://filehippo.com/ Also an effective firewall or anti virus will get rid of trojans, worms, virus and is trial free. You will never have to pay a fee. Comodo Premium internet security is free to use and always will be. here is the link http://www.comodo.com/products/free-products.php I have it on every computer I own. Also, Yuki spoke of PeerBlock which is another app that blocks IP address. Here is that link. It works well with any firewall. http://www.peerblock.com/ Like Lost Unit said, the issue needs to be dealt with before it can get worse. This will get rid of the problem. Also. Ccleaner helps clean your browsers and get rid of everything like cookies and some ad ware. Here is the link. http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ I would try doing all of these first. With the proper anti-virus and malwarebytes and doing a disc clean up should really help improve your computer and get rid of ads as well as other malware. And last but not least. Tor web browser. It completely masks your IP address from 5 different Tor Nodes. It literally changes your IP or masks it in what we call Onion Stealth, no one can trace you really. You're pretty much automatically linked to an anonymous Proxy server. Its said on the Tor website that there is over 8,000 Tor Proxy Nodes all Entry, bridge, and exit. You're IP will pretty much be saying that you're in Germany or in some other state or Canada. Its a must have. I use it a lot. Tor has my IP at 109.163.234.10 which places me in Bucharest, Romania. When I use the Tor button, it will change my IP address again. It changed it to 178.217.184.36 which places me in Poland. I'm sure if Yuki tried to trace my IP, she'd come up with that IP address and the country. Tor also blocks your ISP from people who are trying to track you such as hackers and the NSA. Here is the link to that. You really must have it. Once you have it, you wont regret it. https://www.torproject.org/ You'll never get ads again.Tor makes it very difficult for people who want to do your computer harm.1 point

We've always known who Agito is. Yes, in a way Agito is good. He was a victim of abuse from his uncle and he has emotional issues from seeing his parents dead. He blames Cronos for it. We saw that the real Agito had once been a peace loving happy child with loving parents until Genzo came along and murdered them. They've made that clear in the anime what his goals are to over throw Cronos. although he despises Cronos, Agito recognizes that the power they wield could be greatly beneficial to humanity, and so he intends to overthrow the organization and take control of the world using their resources. To that end, he has been aiding Sho ( Guyver 1) in fighting Cronos, subtly manipulating him whilst keeping his own goals to himself. In the anime, He stated that the Guyver, Sho, his friends, and people were all tools that he could use to destroy Cronos and that he would rule the world some day. Well, since he had the Dark Gigantic. It was apparent that Sho was no longer useful to him, so he challenged Sho to a duel in the ruins of Tokyo and Sho won. He more than likely realizes now that he still needs Sho, more than Sho needs him. P.s. I did enjoy Agito's fight with Imakarum1 point

Tao Te Ching: Chapter 29 Do you want to improve the world? I don't think it can be done. The world is sacred. It can't be improved. If you tamper with it, you'll ruin it. If you treat it like an object, you'll lose it. There is a time for being ahead, a time for being behind; a time for being in motion, a time for being at rest; a time for being vigorous, a time for being exhausted; a time for being safe, a time for being in danger. The Master sees things as they are, without trying to control them. She lets them go their own way, and resides at the centre of the circle. (just one of the 81 verses that speaks to me.)1 point

Haha. No offense taken Yuki, I was thinking along those lines as well. It does seem odd that Tokyo wouldn't have had any way to control the Zoanoids beyond normal military training and loyalty to the cause. Though it also seems to explain why they did away with Makashima so quickly after he botched the Guyver units' recovery. (Of course the easiest answer is just that Takaya hadn't thought that far ahead yet, but I like coming up with in-canon explanations for things. :-) )1 point

Ah, JDF. The greatest Power Ranger of all time. I'm very skeptical about this one. I mean, Michael Bay couldn't f**k this up if he tried... Grass exploding just by posing? He's the man for it haha... I wonder who would play Zordon (if they're going down that road) A Green Ranger movie saga would be the best bet.1 point

it's been shown that zoacrystals can effect lesser zoaforms. like guyot stopping murakami in his tracks. Archanfel stopping guyot was likely a similar thing. since all zoacrystals were cleaved and cultivated from his own. he can use that to effect them in some fashion. Since griselda had a dummy crystal that was not based on any of the others as far as we know, it is likely that she cannot be stopped by hte other lords except maybe archanfel because he is basically superman.1 point

it needs to be said that there is NOTHING that would lead us to believe that the test type was in any way immune to a zoalords command. we have not seen the two in close proximity therefore the whole line of questioning is moot. funny, I'm pretty sure this has already been made clear... how long until people get it... there was no zoalord in the Tokyo vicinity. The first hint of a Zoalord in Tokyo was when Guyot arrived. missing string, heya how are you? don't think I'm having a go at you or anything.. I'm not. just making the point very clear in case of anyone else watching. the walls have eyes, you know?1 point

Lyric video by Liana for their single Oceans: I know that it's probably a better fit in the music video thread, but the lyrics are very poetic and powerful, and perfectly complements the music and feel of the song. Pretty powerfully relaxing tone and it kinda carries you to another world.1 point

It seemed like the first 6 had such a following at the time that the studio though that it could cash in on another 6 and sell them later on as a 12 volume set (as US Renditions--as Bio-Booster Armor Guyver--and Manga Entertainment--as Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor--would do). However, where the first 6 had great animation all things considered, the last 6--especially volumes 7&8--were kinda bad, though things got better starting with ep. 9. But the half hour OVA format never allowed the story to move beyond the monster of the week shonen format that it got stuck with, as well as Takaya wanting to introduce Hyper Zoanoid Team 5 into the anime. That's another sign that it was supposed to be 6 episodes long orginally. Then the other 6 got made as follow-ons due to popularity, then they got bundled as 12 later, especially for North America/UK/EU.1 point

Doubtful, barcus was already in the mountain area, and under complete control of zoanoids in that area, as well as in town. While in the mountain highway and outskirts of town, he was still in range. So this led me to think that part of the process actually involved bringing out vulnerability to telepathy... then again, he could actually be a experiment that might of been classified as a lost number. Not enough information to make any of this solid though.1 point

we should remember, the OVA wasn't a full series. It was two series. OVA 1 was the first six episodes that culminated in the destruction of Japan HQ. That's why team 5 were brought into it. They didn't plan to continue. Then OVA 2 was another 6 eps. The budget clearly wasn't that high for that series as a whole.1 point

Let's assume that nobody knows about Chronos therefore they don't have to worry about oursiders wanting to steal from them. Inside the organisation who would dare, so there was probably never a security threat to worry about.1 point

his cells had been corrupted. The process of creating a zoanoid alters the cells mechanisms to allow replacement information (probably in the form of a nucleic acid) to alter the function of the cells. The process of implanting these mechanisms possibly occurs by first removing the defences of the cells and compromising their integrity by removing their immune functions amongst other forms of protection. We know that Cronos had a cover of Max Pharmaceutical. We know they were at the leading edge of medical techniques. therefore they no doubt were working intimately with the body's own repair functions. taking down barriers and then building them back up afterwards. finalising the zoanoid creation process is probably the process of rebuilding the cells structural integrity and the body's immune mechanisms. It is possible in extreme cases, they have even deactivated the cell division mechanism and may be why marmot/test-type/guinea-pig looked to be suffering from degenerative disease. his tissues were dying and had no replacement/repair process. It's also clear that his zoaform was not completed. The parts of the zoaform process that were completed were to do with muscle and bone growth but they hadn't gotten round to completing the information for skin alteration. It appears that his skin falls away and is not changed into zoanoid skin. well I have to backstep a bit because it is clear he regains his skin when he turns back into a human. perhaps there is an alternate process for when regaining human form. it would be different from normal human cell division and this may be why cronos scientists deactivated the normal division process. to commandeer that process for use in the transformation and restoration processes?1 point

Heehee.... I have fond memories of that episode. One Saturday morning when i was 15, my older sister was asleep on the couch in the TV room. I got tired of waiting so started it anyways. She woke up in the middle of the fight and threw up after watching it a little bit. Mom want happy with me that day.1 point

OVAs generally have a bigger budget and less censorship restrictions, that's why the 12 part series was able to deliver a much more visceral, kinetic experience than the TV series, which was rather stilted in that respect by comparison. The only real downside of the OVAs is that it never had the chance to blossom beyond its 'monster of the week' format and fully explore the underlying themes of Takaya's work.1 point

The decision was made to place a subforum in the guyver forum to display more exotic material. The idea of requiring some form of verification is a good idea but has too many drawbacks. first, there are plenty of youngsters who can get their parents credit card details anyway. second, some people would be too embarrassed to 'apply'. A subforum was decided to keep everything in one place. whilst it does appear like a bit of a club inviting people in, it also gives people a clear place to avoid if they should wish to. Clear disclaimers and guidelines have been placed. there is a support thread posted in the subforum for any questions and concerns. I have posted some initial images to give people an idea of how to go about it.1 point

Enzyme was developed to collect baseball cards. it's just that Barcas got a bit over zealous. You see Enzyme got a bit angry because Shou was not in the mood to do swaps. we don't hear about it in their dialogue, it's all in the subtext. you notice that little hand gesture that Genzo does when he first comes out. then Shou gave a slight nod of his head to the side, followed by a low pitched guttural growl. It's hard to put across in pictures but trust me. Baseball cards. about them 'compound eyes'. to have them as true compound eyes like seen in nature would not make sense. let us instead look at the amazing eyes showcased by many creatures. my first example would be the jumping spider. They have incredibly sophisticated vision. The original Enzyme has eyes that could very easily be like the jumping spider. Also bear in mind, zoanoids are designed to be superior to nature. If these are a type of compound eye, it would use more sophisticated lens systems and probably much higher resolution.1 point

The first 6 episodes had good animation for the late '80s and early '90s. But the new version told more of the story and hinted at/referenced stuff that happened later in the manga after the story left off there.1 point
