i think it was recently asked at the Max Factory anniversary show if there would be a 2nd tv series, to which the reply was - no.

which i am wondering if it is just because Takaya doesnt want to work on it at the moment or at all, or if it is a lack of belief in the franchise to do so by the relevant companies?

regaredless if a TV series wasnt viable i wonder if an OVA series would be??

Well. There is still so much to discover about the guyver(s). There is enough story to do another season, probably even more. Guyver will never expand unless advertised like everything else. No more anime, or movies of the guyver means the death of guyver and if we do get more guyver i think it will be some years yet. But by then it will be ancient.

Possible? Yes, definately. Takaya has plenty of material enough to do a second season, even without catching up to where he currently is.

I remember writing up a brief guideline of how I think it would play out episode wise... Wonder if that post is still around... *edit* Nope. D'oh!

But as pointed out by Lordspleach, everyone practically thought the new series would be as bloody as the old OAV, especially with ADV saying it was "The new face of ultra violence"... And turned out to not be "Ultra violent" at all. It took the one thing the OAV was fondly remembered for, and never followed through... Though it being a TV series rather than an OAV probably had a lot to do with that.

Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype or expectations of the studios.

And remember, ADV Films paid a lot of money to try and kickstart the Guyver revival ( I think they said it was around $700,000+) So unless another wealthy company/person wants to gamble their money on it, I doubt we'll see another season.

Hell, if I won a few million dollars in the lottery ( well, maybe more than 10+) I would totally do it.

But I am still waiting on my lucky numbers!

I hope not considering how series that are released nowadays are still just as violent as ever. Maybe it has to do with the time slot it was put at in Japan.

I wish a second season could be made. The first definitely had the spirit of the manga, and the look of the characters down.

But, we probably won't. It's been way too long, now. Shows rarely get picked up like that. If and when we do see fresh Guyver anime material, it would certainly be another reboot. lol

agree here.

let's look at the timescale. it may not seem like that long ago to some of us but it is actually 8 years.

1986 - OVA out of control

1989 - OVA 1

1992 - OVA 2

2005 - TV series

so after out of control was 3 years then they did a reboot. then 3 years and did a continuation. then 13 years and did a reboot. now it has been 8 years.

Something else I think we should consider. figures.

does anyone remember how the Biofighter collection was announced and started being released around the same time as the TV series? I am sure it was a bit earlier before the TV series was announced.

the question was asked and they said no, but that does not mean no. it means that they are not at liberty to announce a project right now.

it is highly possible that something is in development but they are simply not ready to announce yet. There could merely be talks, or there could be no plans. but that doesn't mean that nothing will happen.

I would love a 2nd season but yeah ADV made a huge mistake with marketing as the new face of ultra violence when the series violence level was tonned down compared to the old OAVs, then ADV had a bad history of poor marketing and business deciessions.  There is plenty of material for a 2nd season but guyver has never had the levels of populatiry to warrent lots of spin offs like the more popular shonnen series get.

Hopefully we can make a difference there!

well truth be told, we haven't had a lot of pre-orders yet, but if pre-orders increase, then we could make an impact on them.

increased sales may yield more chance of them making a new series.

Wasn't it ADV who stuck that tag of "New face of ultra violence"? I hadn't heard anything of that sort before it began getting released here in the West. So great job to them!

Anyway, Ryuki is right, it has been a long time, so that makes me wonder if, if there is any more Guyver anime, will it be a second season of what we already have or a new reboot?

I was just agreeing with vertexer. give him credit :)

anyway, new face of ultra violence was ADV but they did put up a lot of the money to make it. what was the strap line in Japan?

ah well I am sure the japanese  marketing was done by WOWOW.

hey guys im kinda new to the forums but finding this place was like a dream. as a guyver fan since i was 8, i loved the original and ate up pretty much every bit of guyver content i could ever find ever since.

anyway the reason for posting here. Has anyone thought of a possibility of a kickstarter project for a second season?

i donno how those REALLY work but if there was one to be made to promote a second season and it got enough following to either a) raise the money to fund the reinstallation or b) show that there is in fact enough interest in the series.

againi dont know how all that stuff works but it was just an idea...

figure sales for sure. but not as much as the manga IMO.

manga sales figures show how many people are directly interested in the story, not just the designs of the creatures.

Also a kickstarter would have to be made by the animators who made the 2005 series for it to work. A fan can't make a kickstarter for a project that he/she has no control over.

While we may have enough material in the manga for another 1-2 seasons....I doubt they'd make a new series or a new season until Takaya-sensei finishes the manga.  And the manga itself seems to be moving into its final act so we probably got, at least, another 2-4 books after book 30...at least.

i'll say this..the new dub didn't do the manga justice at all. this doesnt mean i don't like it. its number 2 on my list of favorite anime. the face of ultraviolence is violence jack. also alot of the manga was cut out like the bio-boosted clone. what i would love to see done is have someone who know what it means not to western the drenn out of anime make it into a movie. like miyazaki XD

I was thinking crowd-funding campaigns such as Kickstarter or Pozible would be a great idea, but we'd have to get Takaya and the team involved with the 2005 series on board.

I recently rewatched the 2005 series and I still like it. Moreso than the first time I watched it.

If I had it my way, I would do the following:

1. Start a crowd-funding campaign after getting Takaya's blessing and/or involvement in the project.

2. Get the animation team from the 2005 series on board.

3. Get the music team from the 12-part OVA to provide a sweet, sweet soundtrack like the one we all love so much!

4. Not necessarily have it follow right after the events of the 2005 series... Maybe even start all over again, with more violence and gore.

Then again, if I had a few million to spare, I would 100% make this happen. Crowd-funding isn't always a guarantee, but it's worth a shot if we can get the right people involved.

As for what Matt was saying about the brief guideline of the episodes for a season 2... I think it was the arc from the end of episode 26 in the series up to the end of the Cabral Kahn fight.

I wouldn't bother with the art team from 2005. Just the character designer would be good enough. It would need a better studio, not just funding. Wasn't happy how many corners were cut.

The main composer from the OVA series was Reijiro Koroku. I'm in agreement. The main theme and credits for the OVA's were done by another artist though. Hayate Matsuo wasn't too bad in the 2005 anime though.

The idea of crowd funding is nice, but it would have to be a project started by someone who already holds the licensing in the US if it's to be started here. Unless someone in Japan decides to do crowd funding fro the same project and has the license there. In this case, it would be the studio that currently publishes the monthly chapters.

I would prefer a remake from the scratch, but for it to follow in the footsteps that the 2005 did (plot wise) but add the Guyver clone story arc, and much, much MUCH BETTER PACING.

How'd the Street Fighter: Assassin's First guys get away with it?

Probably because it's a fan film and Street Fighter is a big enough series.

I think the 2005 anime was just fine...

I don't think it needed more gore at all, I  mean  is that really what Guyver is popular for?? I don't think it suffered from being less violent than the OVA..

and c'mon guys - start from the BEGINNING??  AGAIN!!??... PLEASE, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just get on with the storyline for Flips sake!! I want to see past X-day  and the Gigantic and XD animated   :GG:
