Matt Bellamy Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Greetings and Salutations folks! As you probably already know, Brian O'Sullivan, the creator of the site, stepped down some time ago, and will not be participating in updating/creating for the site. Soon, we will be moving out from under him completely, and putting the site under our full control. Once the move happens, we will hopfully be updating more frequently, and have a few new features. We do have a few planned already, however, we'd like to hear from you about what other things you'd like to see, and what priorities should we focus on when getting the site back up? A new site layout? New forums? Better streamlined galleries? Chat room? Oekaki board? We need some feedback people! After all, you're here, so you might as well enjoy your stay *Important Note*We will not, for the most part, be compeating with the information already available at theguyver.net. We are not rivals by any means, and really appreciate what they have done for the Guyver fan community when we failed to do so. This site will be more focused on the WG.com fan works, and hopfully, fan works of others who wish to submit them. Likewise for the forums. We will still keep a general Guyver topic for the regulars ect... and expand in the future, if the users think it's neccisary, but primarily, this forum will try to focus on the features of WG.com, and not the official sources ( not to say that they aren't important, but theguyver.net covers them better). And yes, these means Stars Guyver page. Although it will be archeived, I do not see any work happening to revamping it, in the near future. Quote
largo Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Chat Room would be cool. But I don't want it to overpower the board in all. Quote
WarriorZoalord Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 new forums deffinately, something thats not so... hackable. Invisionfree, which has the lair on it, is pretty reliable, i have yet to see any one board get broken into as often as this one is... Quote
*Jess♥ Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 invisionboard is good software. it is not that hard to convert the tables. and it is extremely stable and has a lot of excellent features. I would like to see a version of WG forum on IPB. I don't know about other softwares like v-bulletin, but that seems pretty good as well. I think it would be better if the site was more streamlined. at the moment it is kinda modular in design. I think it may function better if separate sections were more integrated. if you are keeping in with the Warriorguyver franchise, then I feel that the other sites that are archived on the front page, should be moved into some sort of archive, or perhaps given another domain. If you wish to separate them off, and have them in some other domain I can help out there. I have theguyver.co.uk and the-guyver.co.uk if you are interested in that type of thing. chat rooms are problematic. as you may be aware I implimented one on guyverboard a while back. It just didn't work. maybe if you can get a shoutbox to work, that might be a good option. but a chat room, I can certainly foresee it being dead pretty much most of the time. basically because people won't be bothered to check if anyone is in there. Matt Bellamy Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 I think it would be better if the site was more streamlined. at the moment it is kinda modular in design. That is one of the things I am going to look into, because I agree totally. chat rooms are problematic. as you may be aware I implimented one on guyverboard a while back. It just didn't work. maybe if you can get a shoutbox to work, that might be a good option. but a chat room, I can certainly foresee it being dead pretty much most of the time. basically because people won't be bothered to check if anyone is in there. Well, the chat idea, and the rest of the ideas I posted, were just suggestions. Not really the only ideas we have. I was also kinda looking for others not posted there. But it looks like new forums are pretty much a MUST. And it will be one of the definate changes. Quote
guyverfanatic Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I would like to see new forums, as I am not too fond of the php type. I think a shoutbox would be cool and when you change the site, please, no frames. Quote
Guyvr2 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I would post/draw if you added an oekaki or paintchat. chatroom would be cool, long ago I remember there were scheduled chats (was it once a week or so? I can't remember now...) that were fun on IRC since there were always a bunch of ppl that entered. Otherwise, if the navigation were streamlined that would be nice. You have to click around too much to get from one area to another right now. Quote
Thunder Demon1472669266 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Wow. A "Christmas List" for the site. Umm, streamlined would be good. Like, when you enter, if the person has a seperate site adding it under their name, that would be good. Text is easy to read, so that's not a problem. It's simple (yeay!!), functional. Eh, not much more I can think of right now. It's pretty good as is too though, so most changes made are likely to be simple, minor things. The streamline would be an exception. Redesigning the front page might be smart. Not so many frames and seperations... Quote
The Crimson Guyver Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 if we some how get the thing IMVU has the engine we could somehow create our guyvers in 3D andwalk around if we had enouh money Quote
guyverfanatic Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 if we some how get the thing IMVU has the engine we could somehow create our guyvers in 3D andwalk around if we had enouh money What does that have to do with the Warrior Guyver website & forum? Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I'd like to see the front page stream lined some more too! Though, the idea of putting stuff in some sort of an off-site archive is not that attractive of an idea. If we need another domain they are cheap enough, and I'm sure the next host will have multiple domain reg's to it. Hostrocket allows 8 on their cheapest package. But I think overall we should leave what we have on the front page on the front page, hell invite more people to pour their fan fiction sites and other fan sites onto it if we can. We have the space, we have the bandwidth! just streamline the overall front page and make WARRIOR GUAYVER FAN FICTION stand out, in bright bold letters. I still think a little gif animation banner for the main WGFF would be killer! And not to be a mean person or anything, but I absolutely despise http://www.theguyver.net 's layout. Quote
teknoguyver Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 just streamline the overall front page and make WARRIOR GUAYVER FAN FICTION stand out, in bright bold letters. I still think a little gif animation banner for the main WGFF would be killer! some gif animations would be nice. I also think the site could loss the solid color backgrounds. maybe add some guyver or warriorguyver themed pic's and wall paper. you might even go as far as to make picture links. an example would be to make the picture of ALK the link the the chronos data files or maybe just his head to save space. largo Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 NOOOOO if you do that it will take forever for my 56k modem. Quote
Tyranthrax Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Less worry about the forums and more focusing on the Fan Fictions themselves. Getting out updates for them, reworking of the Data-Files, that sort of stuff. It is those things that I mostly come to warriorguyver.com for; the board I only really care about so I can have something to waste my time with. Edit: So really, I think the 'move' should first be completed, and then all focus being on updating already present information like the Data-Files. Little care for anything but updating older works. Only after that's all caught up should there be any worry about adding anything new. Quote
Aranor Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 How about for those just discovering the Warrior Guyver site a glossary of the terms used. (Even someone who has read them all might need a reference) Quote
W'Kar Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 you might even go as far as to make picture links. an example would be to make the picture of ALK the link the the chronos data files or maybe just his head to save space. Once upon a time both the Warrior Guyver Fan Fiction site, and GWOTG used that approach. It looked a tad unprofessional and well...amateurish to a great deal. Perhaps we could use picture links, but I would stay towards keeping a great amount of the graphical detail out of the site itself so to focus on the story and the fan art. Quote
largo Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Yah and it does murder on those people that have 56k modems. Quote
W'Kar Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 How about for those just discovering the Warrior Guyver site a glossary of the terms used. (Even someone who has read them all might need a reference) That idea, I totally agree with! Chat rooms are a disaster waiting to happen. I used one on GWOTG back when I was on the FortuneCity domain and it was nothing but one bad spell after another. A new forum would be excellent. Daily bots are getting on this one and adding new users and already it's known to be unsecure. About adding more images, I don't have a problem with it. When wg.com was designed we were still in the age of everyone having 56k modems at the best so we really wanted to make the site easy to navigate. Now that DSL and cable are far more common adding some flair to the site would be appropriate. Gif animations would be nice, though any site with too many threaten to look amateurish. Conciseness and ease to read are VERY important to this site. Wallpapers would not be a bad idea, though we have alot already. Personally, I'd like to see our readers get more involved with the site rather than just us. As we said when we made the site, it is for the fans! So, why don't the fans use it? Send us your art, stories, theories and points of view, any type of writing should be accepted on the site. Maybe not all in the fan fic section, but still should be available to read. Send us custom datafiles, pictures, characters. I want to pull the requirement of having a story for a datafile posted to be removed. Have fun. We will collect the fluff and put it in sections for it. If you have personal art about the WG or GWOTG site, characters, or anything send it to us. 99% of it should be posted. Remember guys, we can only do so much. The more YOU contribute, the more the site can grow. Quote
