So yesterday they released the all female pro-power squad in the new Ghostbuster film. I'm not impressed. It looks like it'll amount to what I expected. I find it ironic though that they have the actor who plays Thor in there as eye candy for the feminist brigade (who will probably be the only people going to see this). Talk about objectification, what hypocrites.

So, who here has learnt or is learning Japanese? Any advice for a new starter? I think audio books for speaking, something I could listen to during the day. Or is in not so simple?

Alan Rickman, the awesome guy that played the role of Severus Snape, died this morning R.I.P. Potions Master of Hogwarts.

The fifth and final installment in the Phantasm series is coming out this year. Some of the effects may not look to stellar but others look wonderful and as long as it stays to to the spirit of the series with wonderful characters and an interesting story I'll be happy. Really looking forward to this one.

Ok so next year we are getting a prequel to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Synopsis: Prequel about teenage Leatherface who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge. Nice to see my favorite slasher back not only in MKX but also with a new movie next year. The Slasher movie era started with him and in these twilight years of the genera he's the only one still kicking around which is rather fitting. I dont expect the movie to be "ground breaking", just want it to be enjoyable. Gonna be a very Texas…

I was determined not to get spoilers because this is important to me. These past few months I've been slowly evolving into a star wars junkie. This film does not disappoint me. I want to say I really like the episodes 1 2 and 3. I also enjoy episodes 4 5 and 6 but not as much. this doesn't mean this new film was more like eps 1 2 and 3, but I think it just has something for everyone. Ok guys / gals... Question for you, I know not everyone is a Star Wars fan, but for those that are like me who are determined to avoid any news on it that will spoil the story where are you going to go to avoid this but still be kept interested in things? So far even when driving my car to work I've to switch radio channels when the news comes on and they get to "Last Nights...." Facebook is pretty much going to be avoided as much as possible between now and Friday night when I see the movie. So what are you avoiding plans between now and the point you plan to watch the movie?

This is something I've noticed in several animes, predominantly in the various Gundam series and/or other mechas. That is, whenever the Middle East is portrayed, the natives of the land are seen as nothing more than a bunch of resistance fighters. They're also portrayed in a Western like manner though. Fighting alongside women, treating everyone with respect and dignity, and everyone has equality. It's like they're really nothing more than westerners who just so happen to be in the Middle East during the conflict. Trailer dropped a few days ago, but have been a bit busy. I... Kind of like what I am seeing. I was someone who enjoyed the first movie overall. Sure, had lots of flaws, but was still pretty entertaining... Plus I kind of liked the way the Turtles actually looked.

Seems like there was a small leak, and Fox just decided to release the trailer anyway! I don't know about everyone else... But at the time, the first Independence Day movie was minblowing in that there had not been a humans vs aliens movie like it at the time. i went to see it in the theaters 6 times. I highly doubt this one will have the same impact as the first, as there have been a lot of big spectacle movies since then, but I'll still go see it, if only because of the first movie.
