I just finished coloring page 2 to issue 8. Check it out! I am coloring the first 5 pages this week, then inking 6-10 next, then coloring them and so on until the book is done! Whew... lots of work!

This is my second job. It doesn't make enough for me to pay my bills, but it does kind of fund itself off of its sales. I have been doing this book since high school... about 18 years. (I feel soooooo old) Started small with black and white books and colored cover with markers... but over time I self published enough to get the attention of an Indy publisher and they picked it up. On issue 8 now (actually the 9th published with Fierce) and since they picked the book up, there has been a board game made, multiple comics/trades, apparel... even a small appearance in a video game for Xbox 360. Check out www.fiercecomics.com if you get the chance. I went through a rough patch with it over the past year or so with issues with the writer I had on it so my drawing went down to nothing... BUT now I am back to it every day. I pencil, ink and color each issue. So I have to see each page 3 times. Takes about 2-3 months per issue to get done. I may never be famous, but I am doing what I love and have some really cool readers and fans. All I truly want is for an action figure to be made. Oh the prestige!! The envy of all the kids on my block!! One day... You should totally get back to it Edo!! Practice and repetition are the key. It's great to let out your creativity! Thanks for checking this all out

All 22 pages are penciled, and 3 are inked. Will be working on inking and coloring all of the pages for this issue over the next few weeks. Then it's off to the letterer and finally to be published in October!

I know I buy the tanks as they come out and have all 32 volumes of one uniform set, the earlier 15 initial versions and the US Viz ones (7 volumes) and I have bought a few actual Shonen Captain and Ace books for covers and all, so I have invested heavily in this manga. Add to it all of the other figures and such, it is a hefty amount. LOL... while I like most am disappointed by the lack of apparent output by Takaya, I still have hope that we will all get a satisfying and awesome ending to what I feel is one of the greatest mangas ever made. The reason most complain on this site is not just due to financial investment, but time and emotional attachment to it as well. As the top of the site say... "We love Guyver!" As a fan from the US, it is already a doomed thing as it's way past it's prime here. You can't go to a comic shop or convention and randomly find cool Guyver stuff. As a semi comic pro, I attend a lot of cons and SELDOM at best do you ever see anything Guyver. So, we all wait patiently for the monthly releases, hoping for an eventual ending that will tie it all up as pretty as it began.

Yup! That is an original animation cell from the 1st series. It is hand drawn and painted wit ha photo copy of the background used for the scene. A pretty cool piece and I found it on ebay pretty cheap. I think it was about $40.00 or so dollars.

Agreed. I am of the mindset that they can do whatever they will with the characters. Nothing wrong with diversity. But there is something to be said about how they are pandering with this. I am not racist at all, but Spidey will always be Parker in my eyes. The same as how Black Panther will always be T'Challa. Bring on variations! I could care less, but to a degree this is less about progressive storytelling and more about pandering and sales. Good business plan to be sure. All little kids regardless of gender or race or belief should have someone like them to look up to. But again, doesn't this just create more walls and separation? Glad my comic is only about super powered IBS and is silly. Yikes...

True. I would imagine that we as a global society would be past any racism or bigotry, but the more we try to enlighten ourselves and become accepting of others, the more we place a wall between us as human beings. Catch 22. I personally don't think I am racist. In fact, I really could care less what other people do or are. The problem is that every group wants to be special. Gain attention from Facebook or some such nonsense... "I want to be unique and special! Look at me!! MUCH different from you and better for it!" When at the end of the day we are all the same base fundamental suck machines. All too afraid to speak our minds should we offend. All this instant glamour via social media makes us think we are rock stars. Conditioned to only think about ourselves and screw the next guy. No one wants to work hard for what they have and everyone owes someone something or it was someones else's fault. Put politics or religion or wars aside... Adults do not entirely exist anymore. A bunch of mental midgets. Racism exists due to greed. Greed exists because we all want what everyone else has. Fads, trends and "hip" things generally make me personally go the opposite direction. There is something to be said about a herd or sheep mentality. Throw in "my invisible god is better than yours" and it's no wonder why we find ourselves in current situations all over the world. Here and now, and in the past. We need an alien invasion like Independence Day to band us together as a people. But hell, that might not even do the trick.

I think it is underrated solely due to lack of release. If it could be pumped out, even at 10 pages consistently a month it would flourish a bit more. BUT in the US it isn't at all popular and wouldn't be if it were released regularly. I think in the US it had its time in the 90's, which is unfortunate because it really is an awesome manga. The potential is there for sure... but if the creator doesn't care enough to keep up, why should readers really?

I agree! This is my first and favorite manga.

It is deliberate. The movie version was a damaged one and the manga version is a faux medal created by Chronos.

Thanks so much! I sincerely appreciate it! MANY late nights ahead but they are all worth it! It's crazy how productive and motivated our publishing team is now that the source of so much delay is gone. As I get more I will surely post. I appreciate you guys checking it out!

Hey guys! Just thought I would share some news. After about a year and a half hiatus from production of my comic, The Maniacal Smile, I am getting back to work! The writer of the book stalled on us for over a year dragging releases down to nothing. He then quit after he disagreed with our publisher on how to move forward. Check out the promo art below I finished last night. We already have the next 5 issues written as I am taking over writing duties along with already doing all of the art. I am super excited to get back to work and sling the Smile to the masses!
