  1. youngguyver, a wonderful video! it's just a shame the video creator didn't sufficiently answer the issue that was brought forward. I don't believe the creationists were questioning the mechanics of cell replication, protein synthesis etc. I believe the creationists were positing the likelihood of the first proteins successfully forming. i find it ironic that somebody so clued up would miss such an important prospect of an argument posited to him. he then goes on to call the creationists ignorant. this is probably the main reason why there is so much fighting between the two 'camps'. because neither side listens to the other properly. then decides to insult the other side when they miss the point.
  2. that sounds pretty awesome! but they would never do that here. a shame really as i'd love to see some of those old films on the big screen.
  3. I don't want to have too many pinned threads, but I have added this thread to the "important threads and exceptional stuff" thread because you have a point kenji
  4. could just stitch it on but i am sure your skills are much better than mine. I haven't done knitting since 20 years ago.
  5. could be my fault. I didn't really do a good job dealing with issues around changing forum, leaving the old one, making this one etc. I think i did wrong by a few people around that time. what was it... 5 years ago or so.

    Yuki's blog

I have been so busy lately. i have been given SO MUCH design work to do. I was given an urgent website design to complete. this has really taken up a lot of my time. but now that website seems to be mostly complete and looking pretty fly. now I can get back to inking and colouring. actually I kinda need money as well so I have been selling my personal belongings. I was so overjoyed when i sold my camera! £110 for me! then i sold my halflife 2 art book! £50 for me! well not really 'for me', the money is to be used for a very specific and important goal. I need to get official uk documents then get them notarised and approved and proved legal on an international level. that will allow me to work in another country. so I can then seriously apply for work on an international scale. but I don't want to talk too much about that as it is all so uncertain. well the cost of getting the documents ready is something like £220. so I don't quite have enough to get it all done yet. but i can do the first two stages. all that is left them is to send them off to the home office to get them internationally approved.
  7. I reckon Australia
  8. I don't think it's completely pointless. there are many kids these days who would never have seen such an old flick. I mean, it was old when I was 18. now it's super old. it's a good idea to re-introduce the concept. the problem however, is whether the new film can translate the myriad of issues present in the original. the original robocop was an incredibly deep film and could be analysed over and over. it is the most disturbing film I have ever seen because i am a very strong libertarian. the scary parts of the robocop movie are not the blood and gore, it's the psychological aspect. there is a strong chance the person directing this will completely overlook all the underlying messages about society and the human condition. as much as I hate the robocop franchise, for how it makes me feel, i hate it for a good reason. because it is well made. it does the job it was meant to. it wants me to hate it. I don't think that should be disrespected.
  9. hey larz, I'm glad you appreciate it. I was worried i was going into a bit too much detail for people, and people might get bored to tears XD ok, sure... well let me give you a description I once read of the hiroshima incident. most of the guyver targets are closer than 10m I reckon, so I would be confident that a regular creature would be easily obliterated by it. edit: to help us all out with the idea of 100MW of power, I have obtained a quote from the following website :- http://cleantechnica.com/2012/09/08/100-mw-solar-power-plant-for-california-central-valley/ just in case you got confused by the many youtube videos featuring a 100mW laser, that is 100mW and not 100MW. mW = milliwatt = 0.001 watts MW = megawatt = 1 000 000 watts
  10. ah I see! fingerless gloves ! I have never heard them called glovettes before. do you get those ones with a fold over cover that turns them into mittens?
  11. heh heh, what are glovettes? are they made by knitting or weaving? are they just like gloves? well whatever they are, congratulations on selling them so well!
  12. no problem. basically, if something is that old and only available on VHS, there is not much chance of a big company wasting their time coming here and sniffing around for that particular show/series/music/whatever. also, since you are talking about creating something original, it is not so much looking at ripping off companies, it's more about supporting them. I look forward to finding out what series you have on the drawing board
  13. I think a lot depends on 'location' though. I mean if this was in a manga penned by yoshiki takaya, then guyver would win. he has a larger degree of luck in that situation and no matter what blades power guyver possesses the necessary luck to get through and wipe the floor with him. we've never been able to measure luck in the real world but in fictional stories it is an easily measurable force.
  14. hmm, well you are correct in saying that it revives them at the time of their death.... but didn't he say he was already technically dead? wasn't there something about the gedou statue keeping him in an artificially revived state? he could technically be a puppet? I'm not sure, but i didn't see an issue with it. I remember specifically thinking about this issue when we first saw him and he started giving his explanation. after all, the revived madara has the rinnegan; his original eyes. it's clear that this old man version gave his eyes away already so the edo tensei has brought back a version of madara that is prior to this. meaning this madara we are seeing has to be technically dead. but he has madara's mind/spirit because he has to know tobi somehow. edit: what if he was a mokuton bunshin? like yamato did. i think a bunshin usually disappears when the user dies, but madara is capable of so much. and when a bunshin disappears, the knowledge they gain returns to the original. so this could be a bunshin that has been grafted onto the gedou in order to keep it active after his death. or something like that. and when the edo tensei was activated, the mokuton bunshin released?
  15. Sorry about that then! I tried to keep them safe so I'm not sure how it would have happened.
  16. ok... if we want to compare. 1 megaton nuclear warhead, has energy equivalent to 1162222 megawatt-hours. that means to have an equal energy, the power output would need to be 1162222 megawatts for a full hour. so even if the guyver could fire his megasmasher for an hour, he would be 11622 times weaker than a 1 megaton nuclear blast. so wherever i heard that... (i think it was in the early 90s, maybe on the back of the video case or something) it was WAY WRONG. even the gigasmasher doesn't come close. at least in power output. to compare if it has the same effect as a nuclear blast, we can work out what the equivalent power output would be if that same beam was fired in all directions. gigasmasher - 10,000MW. multiply by 360 then by 180. 648,000,000MW. to get energy output we turn it into MWH. if it fires for a minute then the energy out put is the power output divided by 60. that is 10,800,000MWhours. the equivalent megaton of 11 million megawatt hours is 9 megatons. that is a rough estimate.... i mean some of my maths is very vague. but in short, the gigasmasher is the equivalent of a nuclear blast in terms of the effect it has, but NOT the actual power output. and we are talking about being roughly 100 metres from the epicentre of the nuclear blast. point blank... there is no comparison. so for anyone who get confused by my numbers and rambling.. tekkaman has insane defences compared to the guyver. oh... I should probably add that megasmasher would have the equivalent effect as the warhead detonated above nagasaki (22 kiloton). the actual effect is probably greater than that of ground zero as teh epicentre was 400 metres above nagasaki, so the destructive power is likely greater than what actually hit the city.
  17. most definitely would dude just think about what the barrier is. the barrier is the equivalent to a zoalords barrier. even neo-zxtole could deflect the power of a megasmasher. khan survived a ballistic missile. guyot took a direct hit with one side of a smasher when he wasn't even prepared. this is a focused beam. the megasmasher is 100% of nuclear power in one beam. even if the nuclear blast was point blank, the person only gets hit by half of that energy. just 3 feet away would result in getting hit by quarter of that energy. (or is it an eighth, this is 3d space after all) so if the epicentre was less than 3 feet away from blade, then I would say he is withstanding the equivalent power of what guyot took in the fight with guyver 3 in the woods. then we need to consider that archanfel took the power of 3 beams and even turned them around. if gigantic was created to match archanfel, then his barrier could completely deflect the full 100% power of a nuclear blast? edit: but i need to stop myself here because i'm running off an assumption based on what somebody once said about the power of the megasmasher. in the VDF it states power output of 100 megawatts. I'm currently trying to figure out how that compares.
  18. i'm not certain about the ability of guyver to withstand a nuclear blast. a directed and focused nuclear blast, ok sure he would probably not survive due to how we saw him get hit by a megasmasher blast. but i think we need to consider that while the power of the megasmasher is compared to the power of a nuclear explosion, the megasmasher is focused into a beam, but a nuclear explosion is dispersed in all directions. I think we need to consider the heat and the shockwave. over distance, the power of a nuclear explosion weakens due to the spreading out of it. so how far are we putting the guyver from the epicentre? what is the temperature in this location, what is the force of the blast hitting him? do we have any information on what kind of impact the guyver can withstand?
  19. why is is clearly not madara? I wonder if that statue is some combination of susano-o and mokuton type jutsu? didn't madara defeat the first hokage and take his jutsu's somehow? why can't it be madara, he is really old. old enough to be madara. and i am not sure if we've seen anything to show evidence of how madara got killed.
  20. you might have thought that due to me purging very old threads with under 10 replies, it might have got lost in that way, but in was careful not to do that with forums like this one and the blog forum. because i know fan fictions sometimes don't get any responses but get read. I don't think there has been a topic here for the conquered. there was on guyverboard, but you didn't join up here until relatively recently.
  21. nicely done. how did you manage to get them?
  22. [emote=monkey]yay[/emote][emote=monkey]ohboy[/emote]
  23. would it show in BBC america? since DAVE produced it and they aren't part of the BBC. when 'back to earth' showed on your tv, what channel was it? p.s. I am sure you can find a way to watch it
  24. ...ã ã‘ã©!! ( i could read this bit because the font was large) I'd just like to add a small note on shou's outburst. it's just a alteration i'd make to fit better with the tone of the scene. I would say shou is yelling "...HOWEVER!!" technically it's no different, but it fits better IMO. very powerful scene.
  25. ehm, I don't think that's what I was alluding to... there could be some truth in that, to a point. I mean, we have a shared interest in kamen rider and other similar heroes. and these do cross over a fair bit in their thematic content. whilst our main focus is the guyver, a lot of us also have a wider focus on kamen rider and super sentai, and while we would not likely come here *just* to discuss those, it is a nice and relevant segue from guyver. after all, we did have another project for a while, fan-subbing the super sentai series 'hurricanger'. it wasn't the most successful project, but it would have been another focus of the site if we had continued it. also, there is durendal's project toku wiki. I think many people visit to read that. although I wish some of those people would join up and talk to us a bit. that's an interesting way to look at how community works. they are here, but they are silent. edit: then there is my naruto kai project. it is stalled at the moment while I try and get my life in order, but that is also another draw. not really an armoured legend... not sure about how that works.. well no point worrying over it.
