I personally think the manga is a tighter time frame than the real life schedule. like perhaps the beginning was set in the early to mid 1990s and the most recent chapters are based around about 2009 or thereabouts.

oh I forgot to add the wakame!!! wakame seaweed needs to be added to the miso soup. what is wakame..... 和布。。。 hmm apparently it's not common over in the west. it has no english equivalent name.. except maybe sea mustard.

I do like fried eggs. I don't really know what 'over easy' means, but what you said about the bread with the egg in the middle, that is really cool! I do really enjoy an egg when I fry it until it is firm enough to flip and then fry just for a few seconds so when i take it out, the yolk is still dark orange inside. have to have a sprinkling of salt over it as well, because without salt it just tastes bland. hey that sounds really odd having kefir with cornflakes! it's pretty sour so it would seem odd. haven't had kefir for a while, I ended up killing my last lot. not sure abut goats milk, I tried it once and it tasted sort of like nasty cheese. ok, you want miso tips? well you need to have dashi. dashi is made with either kelp or bonito flakes. it's a nice mild tasting broth. to make miso soup, you make the dashi stock out of boiling water and slowly add it to the miso paste, about a tablespoon. slowly mix in the dshi stock. you want to add it bit by bit because if you put the miso into the dashi, it is too hot and it kills the miso. not sure if you know, but miso is supposed to be a live culture. like yoghurt or something. anyway after you added the stock, you need to add your other stuff. traditionally they use welsh onions sliced into tiny ringlets. spring onion might be just fine. welsh onions are smaller and thinner than spring onions. you can also make miso soup as a base for ramen. all you need to do is cook your noodles separately, put them in the soup, add a halved boiled egg and the welsh onions. you said you don't like boiled eggs, but if you add it into the miso base, it will start to take on the flavours. I've never had congee rice. I might look it up, I'm getting a little tired of brown rice sometimes. I usually add buckwheat to my rice to make it a bit more intresting.

I can't make you a worthwhile offer. best I could do is £1 each and that's just insulting. you should wait for somebody who can offer you something respectful.

I should translate the rest. ã ãŒå½¼ã‚‰ã®ä¸ã«ã¯æ£å¼æŽ¡ç”¨ç£åŒ–å…µã«ã¯ãªã„特異ãªèƒ½åŠ›ã‚’å‚™ãˆã‚‹è€…ã‚‚å°‘ãªããªã„ã¨èžã however, none among them reach(qualify for) adoption numbers(officially appointed zoanoids) though i hear some of them have unique abilities seems Viz's translation in this case is quite misleading and adds in much extraneous and inaccurate information. Couldn't say what Chuang yi's translation is like.

(æ種実験)ãƒã‚¹ãƒˆãƒŠãƒ³ãƒãƒ¼ä¼‘。。。 (Lost species Experiment unit) Lost Number unit... (in this case, the unit is a retired unit, not sure what word to use to elaborate on that) 調製éŽç¨‹ã§ç”Ÿæ®–機能をæã£ãŸï¼‘代ã‹ãŽã‚Š ã®å¤‰ç•°ä½“ due to the processing, reproductive function was damaged by a 1 generational mutation. this is interesting and I should have done it earlier. This has no bearing on whether this type of zoanoid could be applied to another applicant, it clearly refers to human reproductive ability. as in children. it suggests that a lost number may be able to reproduce but the damage to the reproductive ability would result in a mutation in the next generation. it seems unclear if the reproduction would be successful or not, so may be reduced fertility, but this is not really elaborated on. it doesn't mean there definitely cannot be offspring but it does mean there would be an undesirable mutation in that next generation. this may result in loss of zoaform or something more serious.
-
I don't think we can say libertus are lost numbers because they have been reproduced many times. now, we could say the rule on reproduction was more to do with fertility but I have always found that part to be an issue. let me re-translate it.

looks like a good collection. If I had spare money I'd offer you something for the thin comics.

I want to revive this thread somewhat and continue getting and sharing tips for cooking. I'd like to address some earlier posts as well since a lot of time has passed. yeah ok, this is a necro post but... well we had another thread about food which descended into one person posting and everyone got sick and tired of it so let's have some freshness in here. I want to forbid any posts about a odd meal that you had because let's face it, nobody wants to know what you bought from the deli today or whatever. we want to learn about what we eat around the world and more importantly how we can make it. I started off by focusing on breakfasts so now I want to share with you what I currently prepare. At the moment I am generally making a kind of pancake/cookie/oatbread. basically what I do is I grind up some kind of grain into flour, I have buckwheat, barley, maize, millet. (I can't eat too much wheat now as I have sensitivity) IT's about half a cup, i mix it with half to three quarter cup of oats and then add salt and sugar to taste. I mix it all up with water so it is a fairly thick paste... think cake-mix. I then fry it over a low heat until dark brown/black patches start to appear. it is reet good and dead easy to do. I mentioned early on in hte thread that I wanted to quit milk. well I have actually move off cows milk almost completely and now use soy milk only. I have to have cows milk when I got to my friends house but it's not bad to have it once a week. I'd like to get some miso and make miso soup for breakfast, but I can't locate dashi. I might have some arriving from Japan soon though. does anyone know/want to know how to make miso soup? Somebody mentioned grits in this topic. I did finally get cornmeal to be able to make grits. I hated it! it was pretty bland so I suppose i'd better follow a recipe. it needs a lot of seasoning and needs to be paired with something. I used to say I couldn't cook when I started this thread, but now I think I am quite a good cook. I make curry often. I love to experiment with spices. I make flat bread sometimes. last week I made sweet and sour chicken. I'll share some of these cooking methods if anyone is interested

What's for dinner? Literally, sort of...food discussion.
Jess♥ replied to Chernaudi's topic in General 'whatever'.
There has been 21 posts in a row by one user in this thread. that is not appropriate for a discussion forum so I am locking this thread. Chernaudi, learn to 'read the room' if people aren't replying, stop posting. unless it's your blog. -
I'm really impressed with this project you have started. I didn't think to check the gravestones for dates. looking closely, it does appear you are correct with yohei's date of death, this puts the manga at that time five years in the future of takaya as he wrote it. that volume was published in 1995. I think that the results of your project would go really well in the second section of this page http://www.japan-legend.com/wiki/index.php?title=History_of_Guyver Something else that should be noted, the date on one of the other headstones is 2006. another one of them is a little unclear but could be 2008/2009.

I won't watch it. it's way too scary and depressing. I won't read it either. I prefer Fairy Tail. or Naruto.
-
I think what you're aiming for is publicity. it can be done without a designated term for a fanbase, but don't let that dissuade you, I only mentioned it for clarity. Anyone could wear a t-shirt with a control metal on it, if these things are produced by the people who own the copyright. actually i do see the attraction here, as the 'name' of a fandom is not copyright protected, so technically, anyone could make a t-shirt with that emblazoned on it. a particular name that a couple of members do tend to use is 'the advocacy'. I don't particularly mind that, but it isn't really specific enough for putting on a t-shirt.

As long as you don't apply the label to others, that's fine, doesn't bother me. I don't personally feel good about special names for fans, but if you guys want it, I am prepared to support you in whatever way you need it.

I thought I was clear that I was talking about the government as opposed to the people. sorry for any misunderstanding.
-
If those people can't be bothered to even check for a series existence I don't really think their opinion is worth anything. These are not the kind of people who would purchase an anime series or pay to watch a film of a series so why would any anime studio or film studio base any of their research on those people? the popularity of a franchise among people who have such a low passing interest in it is surely completely irrelevant? in short, who cares what they think? they can't even be bothered to check if it still exists, it's not as if they would take the time to tell anyone about it or promote it in any way.
-
I don't really know what you are talking about I'm afraid. I know it's music and I recognise the name 'malice mizer' so the best I can do is tell you the one thing I know and that is 'Gackt' used to be the lead singer for malice mizer so maybe Gackt will be to your liking? I like it anyway.

How come it's okay for the US to take hostages and torture them and force feed them without any charges ever being made? The US doesn't go over to the middle east to take back the hostages. They just use that as an EXCUSE. They are hypocrites, war mongers, thieves, indiscriminate murderers, cohorts with mass genocide-rs (israel), betrayers, they spy on their own people, treat them like criminals, treat their allies like enemies, violate international laws, they bleed dry anyone that they can without remorse all for the benefit of their pay masters. Do you really think they would actually do something in North Korea, a country with hardly any power and nearly zero riches? let's just wait until oil is found in North Korea and watch the US suddenly realise they need to start a 'humanitarian' mission. Note: The US I refer to is the political entity comprising of a government and military organisation. NOT the American people.

great list. I think we can confidently use most of those, I can check the original Japanese for most of those later to cross reference etc. and can come up with some pronunciation too. one I also wanted to add to the list just now as it crossed my mind... Control Metal. That caught me out for a long time, but the manga clearly says 'metal' and not 'medal'.

the origins of 'reihalt' or whatever they called him, is from how they translated it by ear. richard in japanese is phonetically like this :- ree hya roo tow. which can sound a lot like reihalt. Transliterated it looks like this - rihyaruto. and could sound more like (reesharrto), depending on the proficiency of the listener. well anyway I am sure you get it now. it's also like purgstahl or however you spell it. in japanese it could sound more like pulukshterl. regarding the spelling of guyot, it was written like that in the datafile. in japanese it is written gyu-oo and pronounced something like gyuo. however the word guyot is a real word and i believe can be pronounced geeh-oh which in some instances can sound very much like gyou. pronunciation is weird sometimes. like gigantic. it is written in japanese phonetically and sounds like geeh-gan-tick. took me ages to get used to that. who has the files from the 2005 anime? I'm sure it would be very useful to get a list of any names from there. it shouldn't really override the datafiles from the manga but it depends... let's see what we all think about it anyhow.
-
There is still some differences among the names we use for various characters and things. The one that came up more recently while working on translations was "12 heavenly generals". I had discovered a while back that this was a reference to a buddhist thing. So the correct translation that we use for that has to be 12 heavenly generals. so what other things do we need to get sorted out for teh scanlations? I think it would help if we draw up a list of generally accepted character names and the most logical use. I'm not suggesting everyone HAS to use them, but more of a case of what we use for translations. I mean, Archanfel is one that has so many different permutations. I believe we need to use Archanfel for translations because it's the Archangel who fell. I think it's written in the datafile like that too. I use Shou because that is the most accurate transliteration. but many use Sho and that's fine. we know what we mean. We need to try and have a list for consistency in scanlations though so ... let's get started! help me out please!

depression is the result of feeling powerless. Out of all the characters in Guyver, that is not Shou. Shou has the power to make a difference and as such, he is probably in a good mental state. He is beseiged in many ways and he probably has some anxiety about that, but mostly, he knows he can always take action. He has a mission and purpose. If anyone were depressed it would be Mizuki. I think this has been shown in the series as well.. I recall times when she has expressed a feeling of helplessness. The time when she went to look for her parents, very indicative of desperation and depression.

you can't force change. change has to come from within. just look at the mess in the middle east. it's all due to the meddling of the US, UK and other European countries. I should add that North Korea is always full of this rhetoric. It's a lot of hot air most of the time. You can't start a war with words. now if North Korea actually made a military strike there would be a different response.

At the end of the day, Guyver DOESN'T deliver. that is the main problem and is why many people lose interest. I've been following Guyver since I was twelve years old and it is still not finished. not because it's massive and epic, but because the mangaka is SLOW and releases such a SMALL amount of material. I won't hear excuses for him any more. he even has an assistant. Ever month when it comes to Guyver release, I am disappointed. it is a total let down. we are being drip fed this manga and it is just depleting all the impact it might otherwise have. I am seriously considering just releasing the monthly chapter to the pre-orders and not even reading it myself because I want some damn substance. This is why Guyver is not popular. any time anyone sees Guyver they see a story that is not finished and doesn't look like it'll be finished in any decent pace. They see it has taken almost 30 years to release an amount of story that would fit in a series of 52 episodes. and it's not finished. I like that Guyver is not finished for the sole reason that I can continue to provide for you guys with this website. it is a big part of my life and I would miss it if it were not here. But it is so damn frustrating that Guyver is really so very unsatisfying. Guyver is a great story, I love it more than most other stories. But let me ask you about another great story, Harry potter. how would you feel if you could only read a page per week? Would it have been a global success? no of course not. it would have bombed.
