  1. reading your post here lordspleach, it makes me doubt my decision to watch Kiva again. what you pointed out about Wataru having no real reason to be timid... I can't refute that and so it becomes an issue. can I really watch it if the characters don't make sense? I'm not sure that I can. I don't really remember it so... but I do recall the end episode being one that I never watched in English. I watched the Japanese and didn't bother with English. I did watch the beginning of Den-O the other week, I stopped watching cos I was feeling depressed to watch an old series. I think if somebody else is watching it though, it might give me a feeling of comradery while watching so let me know if you start watching it!
  2. I really enjoyed kiva. I think. well actually I just recently reacquired the first quarter of the series to watch again. I just remember IXA being one of the coolest things in kamen rider. yeah the castle dragon thing was a bit stupid, I hated it at first, but I think they realise it is crap and start to use it less. The good thing about Kiva is the music and the style. I love it so much because of the style being similar to castlevania. I love how the Japanese approach gothic themes. Some people have expressed a great deal of hatred towards Wataru due to his cowardly nature, but a lot of people really love Otoya. by the way, we could always discuss a return of a tokusatsu section if people are becoming more interested in it again. we were just getting no activity at all in there.
  3. sorry, maybe some people won't make the link between my post and world peace. war economy is one concept that applies here. then there is resource scarcity. many people are still in the mindset of scarcity, and so countries, borders etc is all important. one obvious resource that is controlled by a few individuals is oil. just think about what happens when we all switch over to solar power and wind power. if we choose to get our energy services from companies that use renewable sources, we will make a huge difference. if we choose to buy food that was produced locally, we will reduce the amount of product being shipped around the world via cargo ships that guzzle so much oil.
  4. The issue is money. money is a system to displace control of the worlds resources to a few people. 85 people hold more wealth than 3.5 billion poorest. in many countries, people are having real problems getting water because this resource has been claimed by some corporation. nestle still kept bottling water in California at a time of drought. So I have given just a very select few small examples, there are multitudes more. It is pretty obvious what each of us can do to effect real change for the better in the world. Stop sending money to these large corporations and try to support your local producers wherever possible. If you buy second hand goods you also stop the money flow. We may not be part of some armed force, but we have power. every one of us has power. we can control what happens in the world by choosing where the money goes. stop taking out loans too. the banks are also a huge problem. unfortunately, we have to use banks for myriad things, but we can at least work to mitigate how mu7ch we contribute to their system of imbalance. is it impossible? how can I get a Big Mac without giving money to macdonalds? I know the answer because I solved that problem completely. I started to evaluate what the adverts were doing. I learnt how to filter out their attempts at brainwashing. I learnt about what is actually in the 'food' they produce. I realised I don't need to buy that stuff and can get much nicer food in other places. Macdonalds food isn't actually nice, it's just convenient. I have made much nicer food myself. It's not too hard. I used to be really keen on big macs but now I just have no desire for them and I feel healthier and happier. This is just one example. There will come a time when we will not have to work. robots will do all the work. what kind of world would we live in? how would money work? well the point is, we should be aiming for a zero money system. if we try and take this imaginary currency out of our lives, we will make the world a better place. We just need to do things bit by bit. When I want coffee, I avoid Nescafe as a general rule because Nestle are evil incarnate. I'd prefer to go for coffee from our local specialist store but since I'm currently poor, I settle for store's own brand. mitigation is better than no action.
  5. by the way, there is something that is a problem in my life that I sorely wish could have been changed earlier, but if I went back in time and effected that change, this website would probably not exist. So I'm happy for that aspect of my life even though it causes me distress.
  6. It may be hard to fathom, but I agree with Matts perspective but for additional reason. evolution of society. If it were not for the various wars that occurred, we may still be in an era of colonialism where many more crimes are occurring and none of it is publicised. also due to the lack of progress in technology, a lot of this stuff could be covered up easier. there would be a far higher likelihood of hell on earth. yes there are many many atrocities going on in the world today, but there is a chance for it to be reduced through protests and increased political pressure etc. we are all in a position to become more organised and to make a real effect to equalise the power in humanity and stop these things from happening. what is more, we have the historical perspective to make these decisions. It's pretty bleak that we have all this history and these things still happen, well it's gonna take us some time to get there, to self organise and to create forward momentum in ways that really matter. and so, to summarise my response to the thread, I would not change a thing in history or in my own past. I think all things were important to get to where we are today.
  7. I honestly didn't think wizard's design was good. to me, it looked cheap and tacky.
  8. cars? this is highly unusual since kamen rider is all about motorcycles! :/ even denliner has a bike inside it! well they do like to play don't they? no comment on the image of the car.... the belt looks very interesting though! I like the contours on it, reminds me of kiva a little. also, the belt actually looks to me a bit like a motorbike dashboard. if the belt is any indication, the suit could be quite a cool design.
  9. Chernaudi, you are off topic. please reread the opening post and make sure your replies are relevant and respectful to the people who have already posted.
  10. I agree, I don't like the energy arms at all. They seem unfinished. I'd like to see him with a powerful fruits like kachidoki arms. Kachidoki arms was my favourite. it was so cool. I'm not a big fan of the newer one. why did they have to go with the cone head again? T_T well it's definitely more palatable that fourze. I can manage to ignore the cone head and it's not too bad. but kachidoki is just the best! really cool powerful armour, and I love the symmetry. so I really loved the story element of mitchi being a nasty S.O.B. and it was nicely played out how he betrayed the rest and how they didn't know and would never have believed it. but now they know and now takatora is out of the picture, I can't help but feel a big part of the story is over. I'm also a little bugged by the extended multiple universes. I'm hoping it's not going to trail off because that would be disappointing. we still have over 10 episodes left so there is plenty that could happen. I hope that it all makes sense. by the way, did you guys know or realise that the producer for Gaim is the same producer who did Gobusters? Kinda makes sense in retrospect, doesn't it? Both series have excellent story but low ratings. they need to change the time slot. these stories are too good for little children.
  11. thanks for your comments in this thread Odin. Although I could not read any of it without getting spoilers, it pushed me to join this series. I was quite intrigued at the start and found a lot of the setup to be quite interesting. there is a lot of influence from Kamen Rider Ryuki. a LOT. now I'm all up to date on this series and waiting for the next episode. It's difficult to be objective when in the midst of a series, but for the time being I feel like this is the best Kamen rider series I have seen full stop. The characters are genuinely interesting and I honestly do not know what is going to happen or what the characters are going to do. main drawback is.... now I have no more episodes to watch I am feeling terribly depressed.
  12. haven't watched any anime in ages so I'm really glad this thread is still going and I can read your posts for advice. Only anime I've currently sort of got on is naruto, but of course fillers. so no good. I'll have to see if they have got past the next batch of fillers yet. I want to have a look at some trailers for that steins:gate. if it has an intriguing story then it's worth taking a look at. I did try watching shingeki no kyojin in the past but it is horrific. I don't like horror things. it's somewhat like FMA. really nasty stuff and a really dank bleak atmosphere. I want something happy and positive like recent kamen rider and like naruto and like dragonball and like ... i dunno i forgot.
  13. those are some pretty good names. I like those writers, I really enjoyed both those films. star trek has good production too, although I hated the direction.
  14. I don't really think you can describe artwork or art style easily. yakaya sensei uses common techniques in manga production. various things I can point out that he uses, hatching and cross hatching on occasion, screentone, paint splatter techniques, I'm sure he has even used pointillism at rare times. What defines his style? a whole mix of those styles, anyone can mimic that if they look for the consistency of when he uses each technique. for example, he often uses hatching and cross hatching to show a leathery surface. he uses screentone to show lighting contrast. he uses painting techniques for impact. The beauty of his style is that he is very good at construction. he works with a lot of solid and complex shapes. it is clear that he is gifted with this type of work when we look at the environments he creates. his buildings always look amazing. The creatures he creates tend to have the quality of the buildings he draws, in the sense that they have a sound underlying structure and are clearly constructed very carefully. perspective is not always perfect, but you can always see that they are based on solid shapes. He also has excellent sense of composition and contrast. the images are always very clear and easy to view. a lot of manga can be very difficult to discern at times. there are so many occasions when I read naruto for example, I'm thinking "what the hell just happened, and what is that collection of lines supposed to be?" but in guyver, that NEVER happens.
  15. She looks amazing! a black siamese, wow!
  16. that didn't answer my question. but if it did, in a roundabout way you are acknowledging that you do not OWN them. In case you didn't pick up on it, I find it incredibly offensive when a person says they OWN another living creature. they used to do that with other humans back in the 1800s.
  17. can somebody please explain to me how you OWN a living creature with free will?
  18. I want to point out, you don't own the animal. no human owns any animal. it is a free creature of the earth. we can keep it captive and control it to a certain degree, or we can give it a home and care for it, but they are free because they have a mind of their own. I have a feline companion. She used to be the family pet when our family lived together. she moved with my mother when the household split up. Recently I took her into my care because I believe she was unhappy and not very healthy. Now she is much better, she has lost weight and is now a healthy weight. she had a growth on her face that is now fading away. she is perkier and more confident. I decided to take her collar off because she never asked for it to be put around her neck. It seemed unfair to force that on her.
  19. just looking at a translation from the beginning of book 30, checking the japanese phrasing etc. é¥ã‹ãªæ˜” in the distant past ã“ã®åœ°çƒã« to this planet â€å½¼ã‚‰â€ã¯ã‚„ã£ã¦ã㟠"they" came ------- 未ã 生命ã®èŒèнã™ã‚‰ãªã„ as yet there was no sign of life 原始ã®å¤§åœ°ã« on this primeval earth â€å½¼ã‚‰â€ã¯ç¨®ã‚’æ’’ã "they" sowed seeds 環境を整㈠prepared the environment ------- 以後数åå„„å¹´ã«äº˜ã‚Š spanning billions of years from then 地çƒç”Ÿç‰©ã®é€²åŒ–ã«é–¢ä¸Žã—続ã‘㟠continuing to participate in the evolution of earth's creatures â€å½¼ã‚‰â€ãŒå¿…è¦ã¨ã™ã‚‹ "they" needed to â€å…µå™¨ã¨ã—ã¦ã®ç”Ÿå‘½ä½“â€ã‚’創り出ã™ç‚ºã« in order to produce "living beings as weapons"
  20. Aww, that is such a nice thing to say!! [emote=monkey]z204[/emote]
  21. ok I picked one.
  22. you got it yeah it's the unit usually used by takaya-sensei. 1 unit = 1 man. the acronym I used 'mltpl' is 'multiples of human strength'. so as it says in the manga, guyver has the strength of 100 men.
  23. seems like the saiyan race were like the pinnacle of evolution. their bodies are capable of rapid adaptation to fast changing environments. They are able to use energy conversion in such a way that they can convert a lot of matter (lots of food) into very strong body. this process can constantly react to the environment through what must be super intelligent processes within the body itself. it seems to be able to adapt to increasing adversity via the channelling of ki. whereas most creatures have a limit to the amount of ki they can channel, the saiyan seem able to reconfigure the methods of channelling and making it more efficient. through training, the body can be told to make it more efficient, to open more pathways to channel more energy. it seems they are connected to a source of energy even beyond the afterlife. I was surprised that the dragonball series did not explore beyond the afterlife and introduce even deeper dimensions that could hold the origin of ki energy.
  24. it's like that version needed some updates, but they couldn't confirm my ownership with email address so they deleted it. so basically I re-upped it at http://www.geocities.ws/tokyoflats1569/
  25. he didn't bring balance to the force though did he. he basically got rid of teh sith which left a complete imbalance if anything. I was wondering earlier if these new movies might address that. find a way to have true balance. light and dark in a perfect sync. I tended to think that Luke was close to striking a balance. He looks pretty mean in return of the jedi. I believe it is possible for a human to have passion and also be meditative.
