Red text: The creation of a new Hero! Secret Story of the birth of [Guyver]

-Drawing [bioboost Armor Guyver], as well as the sequence of design, can you tell us more about it

It was on the launching of Monthly Magazine Shonen Captain in Juanuary 1985, the editor asked me at that time to [draw a hero story] and it is where it all started. Mostly, at first it was every other month for the first year, it was decided to run as a short term serialization! And then 11 years after....time certainly pass quickly. If it ended like that, I somehow decided to draw an [H Love Comedy] next.

-We would want to see that (laugh)

With that, at that time I thought about a motif of a Metal Hero called [Megadiver]. To establish a n[Enhanced suit equipped instantly remodeling the body], this later would be developed into Guyver. Thinking about it this concept is where it all started.

With that, I thought of a suit with an equipment controlled by a living creature fused to the hero. This is how Guyver was born.

The design of the creature used as an image motif was from a [scared to death] movie [syngenor]. Later, only the name of the metal hero's control equipment remains.

-Can you tell us the origin of the name [Guyver].

Anyway I was thinking of something [rememberable, short, and a name that suits a hero]. I have not made any reference. Deriving from the strongly raised [Megadiver] which was mentioned before. Taking off the [Me] and [Da] you get [Guyver] (laugh). The [Megasmasher] also came from this.

-Then next can we ask you about the Gigantic.

At the start of the Minakami Ark I have already thought of the [Guyver Powerup]. With the enemy gradually growing stonger, until Alchanfel finally shows up in the end. With the normal Guyver he cannot possibly cross swords with them. With that, I though that there has to be a new power to enter.

Just, I didn't want any easy powerups. Also, I don't want to throw away the design of Guyver I.

I was thinking in the direction of [With Guyver I's annihilation a new power will be attained].

With that, the idea of [double bioboosting] into Guyver I's bioboost came about, but that is still difficult. It was difficult to incorporate the [Design shilhouette of the Guyver that is different from Guyver I].

With the Nagivation room of the Relic ship, and the giant control Metal system which is the Navigation Metal, it was early on that the idea of a traditional control metal combining with the Dual Control Metal forming a double halo. From there it was still difficult, at that time I drew up what I felt should be inside the head.

Later, this came out as the fake gigantic incident came about. On that day, MAX Watanabe called when I was playing about in my workplace, around 10 minutes before he arrived I drew an imitation design. After telling him about [3 pieces of High Frequency Sword in one hand, 3 gravity control orb, the pole in the back is the relic ship's taking in off], it was uncool and gloomy (laugh). After saying the jokes we went into the trouble of honestly completing the design.

-Can you tell us the design of the zoanoids in the world of [bioboost armor guyver]. What kind of mark did you consciously design them.

The concept from the start of it's serialization to the present has not changed. The main principle being [not limited to an existing and specific animal will be the mystery]. For example, I won't do a Cat Man, or Bear Man or Dog Man.

One example of Gregole, in one continuity at this stage most of its name is naturally hidden. You have this strong feeling of association with the image of a dinosaur and demon.

Even though Vamore has been established to have a design of [a zoanoid having a beam cannon], it is not easily recognized.

3 chapters after, a long running regular Ramotith combined the element of a hairy, large eared, and a small creature with a face like a bat.

This concept has changed in the appearance of the Hyper Zoanoid team 5. In order to give the Hyper Zoanoid distinction, all of their body is covered with the motif of the creature. Zxtole is a stag beetle, Elegen is an electric eel, Dazerb has this Psi feeling. But if you look carefully, only looking at the image does not give the impression that there is no composition of these creatures parts. An electric eel doesn't have a face like that (laugh). Gastarl and Thancrus is close to the initial design concept.

If I were to worry about others, this was because at this time there was a heavy design influence from the famous [Aliens], this was what was in my mind.

Oh yes, there was something that I was surprised at. The chapter before the serialization, reading the first chapter's continuity if you've read the Shonen Jump at the convenience store, you would relate this to Araki Hirohiko-san's [bao the Visitor]! Reading this it is [a story of a hero who has a living weapon] and you would know immediately. Worrying about consciously getting influence, I did not read the Tankoubon. I knew of Araki-san from his work [Demon Boy Biti] before which I have read. I thought it was really interesting even though we were going into the same arena! This is something which has come true, which I was afraid of. Thank goodness that the story and atmosphere is entirely different, but at that time I was really fearful. By the way, there was a time that I enjoyed reading the tankoubon of [bao the visitor]. Ignoring this detail the monthly Shonen Captain was published, and then the serialization of [bioboost armor Guyver] started.

I couldn't find anything before 1995, for a reference to the "Lightning Attacker Extras Battle Skippers", for character "Megadiver BSX-3" or "BSX-3 Megadaiba-"

Perhaps there was short lived character during the 80's by the same name or perhaps he was just referring to naming reference since "diver" is used a lot. I.E.> Moldiver, Psychic Divers, Gene Divers, etc.
