Star Wars Episode 7

Featured Replies

I don't mind cg, but Lucas was jus t killing ep 1-3.  He aimed it at kids, while 4-6 was open to all generations.

I am open to Abrams directing StarWars.  Sure, he put lens flares in Startrek.  So what?  He also kept their original uniform and only added a bit of texture to it.  The deflector on the ship was also still gold.  And Checkov still spoke with a thick Russian accent.

If the SCRIPT is good, I'm sure JJ will do a good job.  Let us remember that the treatment for this movie was approved by Lucas, and is being written by someone else.  Mr Abrams has limited control over what he can do here already

I just burst out laughing at 'grandpa Chewbaca's', um, Matrix experience.  I mean, they ACTUALLY put that on television?!  Seriously?  It's like the whole cast and crew were high to come up with that.

  • Star Wars always needs more episodes. more cartoons, more books, more games etc. Disney own Star Wars, Disney want money.     hey, I want to see more Star Wars. I love the concept.

  • I'm definitely excited for it. Also, here is a funny re-edit of the trailer.

Lucas has $4 billion dollars to play with, like he gives a f~~k about anything anymore!!

i just read the rumour about some 'stand alone' star wars films apart from eps 7,8 n 9. there's talk of a couple and one maybe one focusing on Yoda.

all i can say is i dont care who writes or directs the damn thing, if it does come to fruition and he's kicking ass like in eps 2 and 3 it will be freakin awesome!!

The two movies are going to be about a young han solo, and the other will be about boba fett.

Han solo will take place before ep 4. Rumor has it it's suppose to be based of the book "han solo at stars end".

boba fett will take place after ep 4. Not sure if their basing it off of anything.

Larz, thanks :)

I'm feeling quite happy about this.

This is not episode VII then!

The rules are very simple. the next episode must come in chronological order. This is why 1, 2 and 3 came before the other movies. but now that we have an established 1 - 6 the only space in between these movies is a spin-off.

so JJ abrams is directing a star wars spin-off not a proper star wars movie.

episode VII comes AFTER episode VI.  so as long as this movies are planned before the time of episode VI, they are a spin-off.

Sorry I misspoke.

These stand alone films are in addition to episode 7...

Not quite sure who will be directing then tho.

meh - han solo and the fanboys favourite Bobba fett?? rubbish.

Yoda needs his own film!!!

Boba was awesome before he became a clone. After that happened he just don't seen as scary anymore.

granted he is cool but in the whole scale of things he's not really a main character and did close to F all.

i just wanted to see Yoda in 2hrs of backward speaking wisdom and light sabre slashing action! :)

I kinda of expect Disney to bring back Boba Fett in Episode 7, but I won't mind that cause in the expanded universe he did escape the Sarlacc Pit.

Boba was awesome before he became a clone. After that happened he just don't seen as scary anymore.

It's because he was a mask.  It was a mystery.  When they did the clones, you could see his plain, regular face.  Everything that made him interesting and mysterious died a lame death.

Well to be fair Bubba Fett's face is all scarred now, so he no longer looks like some guy slowly getting a beer belly.

As for JJ, I'm indeifferent since he's a much better director than some of the other names out there, and he's a Star Wars fan, so he might actually do this movie more justice than Star trek, which to be honest, the newest star trek felt more like a star wars film than a trek film.

here is some new news for this movie.

To me, the newer trilogy had more of a focus on humor. Especially when Droids are involved. The humor was practically campy.

The older films had a better quality humor, at times it was even subtle.

This could be awesome.

Makes sense to have a generational tale... grandpa Anakin, momma Leia, and now... Jacen and Jaina, and Anakin? (The kids of Leia and Han in the novelizations).

Probably not. They're going to want to be more original.

But what will the conflict be? The Emperor is dead... or...

We didn't see him die, did we?

Anakin Skywalker could easily be a Force Spirit mentor to the next generation, like Obi-Wan...

Hmmm. But the Empire fell. Without Vader and the Emperor, what you have left is an army and a bureaucracy.

You could have an ersatz emperor, but he would be no match for the resistance now.

I would definitely not put Anikin in this trilogy his task in the series has been fulfilled already and has nothing else to do in my opinion. Since they are the cast is pretty old the only way I can see this work is them being mentors for a new generation of heroes as they try to stop someone that wants to take over Sidious's place as the new emperor OR just have him return like in the comics with a new body that can be on par with Luke who by that age will probably be the most powerful Jedi, he can still fight since that did not stop Count Dooku, anyways... I really hope this trilogy turns out to be good, I don't think it will be better than the originals but I have my hopes that it will be better than the prequels.

Mark Hamill kinda teased about offspring. And they did use the planet coruscant and that was from the Timothy Zahn novel. The kids were named in a Zahn novel. So i hope.

Vader anakin ghost only showed up once in the books before new Jedi order. Not sure after. So I'm ok with him NOT showing up at all.

I kinda hope it's a new republic vs empire story line.

it might be nice to address the phrase "bring balance to the force"....

I mean, it was like they were saying that by removing the dark side, they were balancing the force, but balance is about light and dark.

The way return of the jedi ended, seemed like there was light but no dark, that is not balance.

So with a continuation, it may be nice to see some way of bringing real balance.

Not Jedi and Sith, maybe Sidi. or Jeth.

I'm hopeing the big bad is Grand admiral Thrawn.  I just loved the 'art of war' style that he used.  How he would observe the art of a culture in order to understand them before employing an elaberate strategy in order to bring them down.  I just loved his whole elaberate plot, with a touch of elegance to his personality.  He doesn't need a cliche UK accent in order to pull off his gentlemen demeanor.  I would really like to see him in action

some context would be nice ;)

who is Grand admiral Thrawn?

I've seen all the star wars movies and have never heard of this character.

Never read any of the stuff he is in, but Thrawn is from the Expanded Universe. I know he is one of the few non-human high ranking officers in the Empire.

Thrawn was a strategic genius, a blue-skinned humanoid who expertly predicted the behaviour of species based on their art.

He was no Sith - instead, he employed a symbiotic alien species to suppress the Force in a limited area, allowing for various applications (rapid cloning, resistance against Jedi powers). He also was allied with a rogue Jedi - or rather, the insane clone of one - and a species of expert assassins who were honor-bound to the Empire.

His approach to war was quite different to the Emperor's, mainly because he didn't use the Force, but had to find a way around it. He was rational and even kind of likable.

Thing is, we already know his story. And a novel is not a movie.
