oof, just when i thought technology couldnt become any worse they set a new bar :bleh: . That was an interesting read, thanks for posting that.

That's interesting. Didn't think Anime could help science along.

Does this mean someone will eventually become inspired to create us some bio-boosted armours?

If that happens it will be in about 10000 years time for our technology to do that. If ww3 or other crap does not exterminate us first lol.

Depends, Nano-Technology promises to make possible many of the same things the Guyver Unit allows the host. It's mainly the whole dimensional aspect of the unit I think will take a long time to come up with, but even then I think we would have the technology before the next millennium starts.

After some time, I wouldn't be suprised if we lookedi nto Biological technology in the sense we grow houses and change the landscape with bacteria we created.

Nano-tech, if we created well enough it will open a window to that option.

As far Nano Technology is concerned I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Leading Scientist in the world have already started to develop working theories or even a prototype of a Nano Tech system. However until the time comes when we can successfully develop and control Artficial Intellegence. I doubt we will be seeing Nano Tech in use in the near future.

As for Bio Technology, I've read that certain medial scientist have been experimenting with left over infant tissue from child birth (the imbilical cords) and have been developing a sort or organic bandage to heal sever wounds (e.g. high degree burns, etc). But with the Geneva convention banning the use of Bio-Logical weaponary, I doubt we will be seeing Bio-Weapons like Zoanoids and the Bio Booster Armor in the near future. That is not to say the governments of the world are attempting to develop these in secret.

I would like to see Mobile Suit technology being developed in the near future. Since the use of Mobile Suits not just for combat would be infinate. I remember reading in ANN about how some Japanese guys had developed a plan to build an actual working Gundam. However he did substitute Aluminum Alloy for Gundanium Alloy, since Aluminum Alloy would be more light weight when compared to most iron based metallic alloys. I personally would have use Titanium Alloy, due to it's high impact density.

you know, they made conventions to stop biological warfare. But still hasn't stopped the US from studying, developing, and even experimenting on the American population (in secret as it has been revealed recently).

who said nanomachines have to function with advanced AI? simple programs to react to chemicals or attack certain objects like cancer is all that's needed. Currently they need to really be worked on and mass produced, but no need for advanced AI when it comes to this field just as it's getting started. The first prototype Nanomachine I read about was in popular science almost 8 years ago. I have to say that we can expect working ones in upcoming years, and productive ones within 3 decades. Anime and other media, just gives us more ideas as to how to use them. Right now we are trying to create new forms of energy through bacteria to create natural gas, imagine what nanomachines could do in that field if we develop them far enough.

I wonder if nano machine technology can make my love handle longer and thicker.

To be really off topic, you don't need nano machine technology to do that. There is this device called the "Penus Pump" (Apologies for the lack of terms). And in my opinion, it's not the size that matters, its how you use it.

Also, technology used in warfare usually comes from research from a good cause. And given the example of biological warfare, I think it came from experimentations trying to find a cure for a certain virus, which the experiment went to unexpected progress. Thus the engineered virus used in warfare.

I was only being a smart ass. I know about that pump too. If you know how to use a small 1 well. Think what you can do with nano technolgy enhanced one. A chick will never have to buy a vibrator that's for sure. You would last for few days making her begging you to stop making her having constant orgasms.

Back on topic I wonder how strong would nanomachine suit be. Would it be able to heal your arm if I cut it off. I really want a mobile suit to be developed before I die in 50+ years time.

I wanna see a real life mobile suit give good pasting to Abram American tanks. 1 suit vs 6 tanks would be cool for Japanese to introduce their new revolutionary weapon. :Ggd:

You never know maybe Japanese goverment is developing something similar to a mobile suit. One can hope I suppose. Nano technology guns, snipers and bazookas would be awesome too.

If Japan had an Army, then I believe they would have already developed a mobile suit, but they only have a self defense force.

With regards to nano technology, I think they can help the body heal faster but I doubt they can help regenerate severed limbs. Unless of course they have genetic properties of regenerating lizards.

If they ever make a mobile suit. I am going to Japan to voulnteer to be a test pilot. Even if it;s some junk yard mobile suit like a first Zaku from original gundam.

Knowing my luck it would fall apart and thousands off tons of steel metal would crush me to death since it is first mobile suit ever made hahaha.

My last thoughts would be cool I got pilot a real life mech. Even if it was for less than 5 minutes before joints snapped and suit fell apart squashing me inside.

Not that what I'm about to say actually shows how close to a MS Japan could actually be but...They do have asimo! He can walk, run, dance, even go up and down stairs! So, if they were to use him as a base they might be able to make something larger. In this case a MS

Posted

Just imagine the combination of Japanese Ingenuity and American Funding, they can develop asimo into a deadly weapon. I think it's the economy that prevents Japan and other countries to further develop the existing technology for everyday use. Since developing Asimo into a large format labor would help the construction industry a thousand fold. That's probably one hell of a software they got installed there.

Actually the US is already working on Mechas, particularly all terrain type vehicles.

One example is http://www.mechaps.com/

Also other countries like South Korea are virtually neck to neck with Japan on robotics and A.I. development.

Nice website that one. Bookmarked it too so I can check it every few months to see the technology progress. That asimo is a small robot that Japanese developed. I seen that demo off it on you tube looks cute. But making that tech bigger and stronger into ms might be a bit more tricky. Small size is way easier to do robot than a 20 meter tall mobile suit. Plus our materials will make that thing too heavy and will only travel 10 km per hour which means even my granma can hit it with rocket launcher and she is 90.

We need light alternative material that would make a 20 meter mobile suit only 7 ton in weight. After jet thrusters on it's back for movment and other many technological hurdles to overcome.

I honestly see a mobile suit in about 100 years to tell you the truth. It would be mega awesome if they develop a valkyrie type fighter from macross. Jet fighter that transforms into a mech for those who don't know what it is. That would eliminate the really slow and useless abram and other crap tanks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvk2Cmqe3g8...feature=related

Imagine you bomb the enemy positions from air like US military. After you land on ground and transform your jet into big robot with massive machine gun to clean up enemy surivors.

EDITED Clip from newest macross. I don't like 3d introduced into fight scenes. Makes movment look jerky and slower than best 2d quality.

Here is the clip

Rammstein rules the best band ever and this aerial dog fight clip just owns too.

Technically a Mecha only has to be 15 feet tall, or about 5 meters. To be classified as a Mecha, though true it'll have to be pretty big before it gets impressive.

Basic exo-suits are already a reality and can even be rented in Japan. The US military is working on a more powerful version, as well as robot assist units like a mule like 4 legged robot that is meant to help carry gear and supplies. The video of it in operation is pretty impression to boot since even kicking it hard won't knock it down and can walk on ice and through other obstacles.

The main obstacle to making something really big is the amount of armor it'll need. Since the basic structure is do-able and wouldn't really weigh as much as you think, as most of the structure would be basically hollow. But Armor is extremely dense, which is why they generally don't armor fighter jets and such very much. The Abrams tank weighs about 68 tons, good luck making that fly.

However I predict breakthroughs in energy shield technology to come out soon. They are already figuring out how to make things invisible by bending light around the object, but they are also making good progress of using plasma as a shield. Combined with a suitable portable power source it could mean we can skip on heavy armor to make the mechs more practical. Though we are also developing super strong light weight materials. So who knows what we will ultimately wind up with.

Chances are though mechs of the Future will be more Mech Warrior like than Robotech like. It's just a matter of which is more practical.

Hope that comes out to be true. Which means I get to test pilot a mech.

They will ask in application for test pilot. Why do I wanna test pilot a newly developed mech? I will say They look cool plus I wanna blow up a city. Give me the best weapon systems on that mech I go do a grand theft auto city carnage.

After that I will end up in guantmmo bay prison in cuba where they hold the terrorists.

Plus you need to be fit physically and mentally to even have a chance to become a test pilot. Also have at least have 10 years in military experience.

Realisticly I see mobile suit or mech pilots to be around 35 to 50 years off age and not 17 or 18 in Gundam Anime series and other mech shows.

Some even have 5 year old children piloting em I mean give me a break.

Most 18 year olds think on how many chicks they wanna bang or have banged and not save the world by piloting a giant mecha.

That is why I don't watch that many mech Anime shows as I used too.

I am pretty sure there is no 18 year olds who would pilot a helicopter or jet fighter, because they have no experince. It is impossible to get that experince at 18 anyway. Start slowly learning yes. Probably 25+ year olds could get enough flying experience to fly a jet fighter.

Instructor will be with em till they are sure that they can pilot this stuff on their own 100%. Flying tests and other stuff very hard. Only most determined and inteligent people make the cut to fly a jet fighter.

It is amazing on how fast they learn to pilot giant robots in anime. Sits first time in Tallywacker pit and owns everything. Enemy is very weak at start of robot shows to give a chance to a young lad to learn the ropes and mecha moves.

Then again it is designed for 15 to 18 year old age gaps. I am 27 and shows like that become a bit too repetitive. Don't even get me started on bouncing boobs fan service lol.

I really wanna see a first laser gun been made in next 10 years. That can burn a hole through you with 1 laser discharge shot.

I wonder how hard it would be to make a plasma gun or a melta gun.

There is a bomb allready made. That when it explodes it sucks all the air for few kilometers around. Chokes everything to death since there is no air to breathe for living things, but leaves all the buildings intact. Forgot the name off that bomb.

I think the air comes back in few hours, but you only need no air for 5 minutes to kill every single living thing in that radius where air was sucked.

Napalm flame bomb aka mother off all bombs. Now that thing is scary. Burns cooks everything withing few kilometre radius on the ground. I think there is a bomb also called father off all bombs. Could be a refrence to a nuclear bomb.

Who ever first develops these super weapons like ion cannon or plasma laser guns will probably conquer the world. Or new state of the art mecha that will make a tank look a scrap yard metal junk.

Any country develops anything similar to a power of xenogear the main hero's white mecha from game xenogears, it is safe to say that country will 100% take over the world.

It can be 3 x weaker it will still road kill everything that is set against xenogear. Our times tanks, planes, all type bombs and foot soldiers got nothing on this god mecha.

Even better there is a pilot who pilots a massive moblie platform weapon called proto omega. The kid looks like 6 years old, but is actually an udo entity in human child form.

Proto omega is powered by a device that produces infinty energy called ZOHAR device. You gotta see a movie clips what this thing does to space ships.

That is from game called xenosaga. It takes place before time line in xenogears game.

This is what happens when proto omega awakes from a nice sleep. Enjoy

EDITED enjoy more of super future 1 possible scenario.

One of the major flaws in robotics is that most of these scientists haven't found away to accurately mimic muscles, or even control the machine properly. Then there is the issue of joints and flexibility. What you need to do is pull together various different technologies together, but most of these groups are content with just creating their own and using it despite the better devices someone else created. Those that do want to use technology from other people are limited by copyrights and contracts. So it's all basically a screw over for whoever knows exactly what is needed to pull off a bipedal mech.

Artificial muscles. The idea should be applied to human prosthetics and mechs. I suggest a liquid or gel rather then air, because you'll need the flexible and mass to support bigger things. I came up with the idea as a kid but MGS2's metal gear ray was the first fictional mech to be depicted with the same idea.

I like the spider design... but can it even turn?

Still better then that bipedal robot that one guy made. It couldn't move without shaking violently and looked like it could of tipped over easily. I think people focus too much in bipedal and should instead design a robot more similar to a centipede or other insect.

I don't see any mechs in the near future replacing tanks. Tanks can still go to a ton of places that mech designs are made too impractical to go to. Mech designs would likely be best in urban combat because they can shoot around covers. The Front Mission Games have been the most realistic mech related franchise ever. Search Front Mission 4 videos on youtube to see what I mean.

I can only imagine the spidermech design being real useful as a mobile artillery, or if it somehow could function like a spider (climb walls and leap high) then it would be a dangerous machine. If it could climb mountains, it could easily position itself for bombardments or reach higher elevations for tactical advantages. But the chances of them ever making a mech like that in the next 100 years is slim.

The real wave of the future for robots is exoskeletons like the ones in Exosquad, Metal Skin Panic Madox-01, and Star Ship Trooper novels (Not the silly movies). Followed by smaller powered armors for basic infantry that you see in some Anime along with enhancement drugs and tracking implants in soldiers.
