ParaParaJMo Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Glad there's a topic for this series. This is one of my top favorite animes. It's also quite funny that I never saw Teknoman, and I heard they only aired half of it on UPN. I've also seen the original Tekkaman. It's ok, but I like how Tekkaman Blade took the story to another level and I like how they approached the technology in a more organic approach like Guyver. The voltekka in the original Tekkaman is quite small compared to the newer one. Quote
Larz Zahn Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 im aggravated.. i cant find episodes 29+ on veoh anymore.. they got the teknoman epidsodes there.. but i dont wanna watch them, im tryin to keep it pure. i even tried to go to liquidanime like it says in the subbing but the sites not pulling up. ugh.. an i know dboy has pegas now, im just a lil downed about the whole needin pegas an all. Larz Zahn Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 ok i take that back... apparently it was my fault, the stupid computer logged out of veoh and didnt bother to tell me, dude i was getting upset too. lol. ok, im pacified now. Quote
ParaParaJMo Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 heh, luckily i bought the entire dvd series for $20 when my last local suncoast closed down Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I honestly think it seems Pegas was more to keep D-Boy grounded to the Space Knights. If he just had his crystal, he really didn't "need" them for much. Having him forced to use Pegas to transform kept him in close ties with the Space Knights, so that the friendships could grow. Despite the fact in the original Star Knight Tekkaman, Pegasus was the way the hero got his armor on. I just can't wait for the Blade and Pegas SoC figure set that is coming... That's going to be awesome. Quote
ParaParaJMo Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 There's a figure coming out? Cool. I also think the purpose of Pegas in Blade was to also play homage to the original series. Quote

Blade CAN fit inside Pegas =P Probably going to be expensive ( Soul of Chogokin usually are), but oh so worth it in my opinion. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 That'll be sweet! Matt, do you know if they have a set release date for them yet? If anything, I'd like to see them do another Tekkaman series with the new animation techniques. Even if it's only a short OVA I could live with it. I just want to see it get some new anime life before it's too late. Quote

Estimated to arrive August 2009. - Tekkaman apprx. 4" - Pegasus apprx. 8" - Included with figures: Tekk Lancer (single), Tekk Lancer (twin), Tekk Shield, interchangeable hands for weapons, clear display stand Appearently it's not a SoC, but Tamashii Spec... still awesome though. Sadly it's going to be about $150 US... But that won't stop me. Couple more pics though: Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 That's going to look positively gorgeous when it's painted. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 That's cool. Well my Tekkaman Blade loving friends, I have just hit the jackpot. I was able to find and DL just about every single Tekkaman Blade and TB2 OST there is. All together it comes to about 585 MB's. Over 7 OST's and 5 extra songs. I'm gonna upload them all, each OST on its own, via Sendspace. This way, if anyone wants some of the music they just have to PM me. I now have more music to listen to from another great anime. Quote
ParaParaJMo Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 that looks frickin' sweet btw guys, how is tekkaman blade 2? i have yet to see it Quote
Toku Warrior Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 It does have its ups and downs and does have some slight conflict with Tekkaman Blade 1...unless you saw the hard to find OVA that is set some time between the two series which I have yet to find. I only have the preview for that OVA and it looks nice. For Tekkaman Blade II here's my review: Characters: A few characters from the first Blade series return for TB 2 but not all of them. Mostly Honda, D-Boy and Aki. The newer Tekkamen are just around the same age as D-boy was when he first became a Tekkaman but without the setbacks like memory losss and the time limit issue. Plus, unlike D-Boy, they chose to become Tekkamen...or should I say they were selected and they went along with it; with their won reasons in mind. The main character of the series is a young girl names Yumi Francious (spelling...it is pronounced 'Franswa'). She's a bubble headed blond around the age of 19 and she works as a mechanic under the guideing eyes of old man Honda with the Space Knights. She was saved by the white knight (Tekkaman Blade but that's how she first remembered him) when she was a young girl. She wears a type of crystal around her neck indicating that she was originally one of the people the pod plants tried to Tek-Set in Radam's first invasion. She fell in,love with Blade and has looked for him since. She then falls for D-Boy and constantly challanges Aki for his affection. She also posseses the more powerful Volteker blaster called the "Reactor Volteker". In the the series she does grow under the guidence of her fellow Tekkamen comrades but she learns the most from Blade and initially helps him find a way to defeat an enemy Tekkaman later on. (I'll post the other characters later). Story: The story wasn't that bad. Unless you've seen the special OVA or its preview you'll most likely get the feeling that this series is an alternate universe setting or a mes up on the writers part. It's not a mess up, refer to the 3 sets released by Media Blaster on the series Tekkaman Blade. Anyway, this story did have some ups and downs but the animation style is far greater than that of the original series...seeing as it was done a year or so later after TB 1 ended. The only ting that the writers may have messed up on is with Blade/D-Boy himself. In TB 1, after ascending to his Blaster form, he was only supposed to live for about 6 months due to the harshness and strain that the upgrade proccess puts on the users body; yet in TB 2 it's 10 years later and he's still alive. I do not know if this was explained in the OVA or not but that is the only mess up I can think of. Tekkamen Armor designs: The armors aren't as bulky as they were in TB 1 accept for Blade and Dead End. The rest of the Tekkamen are more streamlined and slightly organic looking in some ways. they were pretty cool, especially Aki's Tekkaman form. The Reactor Volteker: Possibly one of the greatest mecha attacks of all time. It's stronger than the basic Volteker but not quite as strong as Blades Volteker while he's in his Blaster Form. Unlike the average volteker, the user can control and manipulate the beams shape and path with their will and can also stop and dissipate it at their discretion. That's it for now. Anyone else can add on to it if they want. Quote

Shion Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 i want to watch tekknoman Agian. but there ARE MORE VERSIONS!!! Which one should i watch first? Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 There is 2 versions of Tekkaman Blade: 1. Original Japanese - Uncut, and with subtitles. Officially called "Tekkaman" Blade 2. English Version - Edited, but with english dub. Officially called "Teknoman" ( Note: The DVD release from Media Blasters is NOT the American Dub. It is the UK version, and features a few different voice actors, and actually calling D-Boy "Blade" instead of "Slade". The American version was never shown fully, and is not available) Both are exactly the same series, minus the differences with the editing on the English Dub version. Depends what you prefer, subs or dubs. There is also Tekkaman Blade 2. The DVD release of it has both English Dubbing and Japanese with Subtitles. Definitely should watch it after the main series. Arrigato gosaimasu Matt-San. =D Teknoman by far seems to be what most people watched first, but that goes without saying since it was shown on TV. The very nice thing is, the entire Teknoman series on DVD, is usually $20 US or LESS, and comes in one box set. o buy Tekkaman Blade, ypou have to buy 3 sets, and they run about $30 US. Sadly, it does seem that version is only region 1... But that is why they invented Region free players =P Quote

odin Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I can't believe I missed this thread as I'm a huge fan of the series, it was one of the first anime I have ever watched on TV as a child along side Dragon Ball Z, Saint Seiya and Rurouni Kenshin My childhood was great XD ) the story is just amazing and gets very emotional at times since this is the story of a guy who loses almost everything for the sake of humanities survival, If I had to describe the definition of Tragic Hero the definition would be Tekkaman Blade, also having a lot of similarities to The Guyver just sealed me liking this series for all time, many consider Tekkaman Blade 2 as the Black sheep of the series but to me it was an ok series, since i have already bought the 2005 Guyver anime my next goal in anime would be to buy the complete Tekkaman Blade series, I would probably have to buy it online since I can't find it on my local stores. Aether Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 can anyone explain why the dub has 43 eps and the original 49?? does it make a big difference? did they just miss the first 6 eps or was it random throughout the series? iknow the first eps are completely different but apart from that i know nothing!! i am contemplating watching this, but i have got so much stuff subbed i wouldnt mind giving my eyes a rest and just listening to a dub!!! so if anyne could explain it would be great! Quote
odin Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 The thing about the dub version is that they cut out episode 34 "Siblings of Dark and Light" and they merged the final 4 episodes and cut out some of the the scenes with extreme violence which i considered unnecessary given the tone of the series, all the more reason to prefer the Sub version, as for the 6th episode that was cut out you are not missing anything since it was just a recap episode, nothing happens on it aside from telling you what has happened up to that point. Quote
*guyverfan Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 (edited) could depend on different studio releases. i have an 7 disc box set which has all 49 episodes in japanese/english dub and english/chinese sub versions. i've had it for along time, can't remember when or where i bought it though. writing on the covers are all in japanese so sorry, i really can't help you with particulars. and yes, his name is still blade in the english dubbed version. obviously some episodes may have been missed or edited and shortend/episodes spliced together due to the violence so maybe worth to have a look around, there may be different versions floating around due to different release dates and possible different studio releases.
