Media Blasters only just finished the final volume of the dub version, Teknoman, but now they have already given us a release date for the first part of the UNCUT, and SUBTITLED original version, of Tekkaman Blade.

December 19th, 2006

400 Minutes

$29.95 (US)

Ooooh, this is going to be one sweet Christmas.

HyperGuyver Sep 27 2006, 03:28 PM

Wooooohoooooo! Finally, we can see Blade as he was ment to be seen....and it's about damn time.

Tekkaman blade. was that the more up to date one? I remember watching that back in like, middle school. Something about D-boy or sumthin. heheh.

There are a few versions of this series, due to the early days of Anime editing.

1. Tekkaman Blade -Original show from Japan. 49 episodes

2. Teknoman - US dub, that only got half aired on UPN. Blades name changed to "Slade", and new opening/endings.

3. Teknoman "Blade" - Is what I call the Europian dub of Tekkaman Blade. A few changed voice actors, but mostly shared a lot of the US voice cast, and the same editing. It at least called the main character "Blade" and kept the original Opening/endings. 43 episodes. This version, is the version that Media Blasters has just released on DVD.

4. Tekkaman Blade 2 - released by Urban Vision on VHS and DVD. Taking place 10 years after the end of Tekkaman Blade, with 3 new main characters. This is the most common one People have seen, but without the full story, it kinda loses a lot of it's appeal ( other than the fact Yumi is so totally annoying)

D-Boy ( Dangerous Boy) is the nick name given to Blade by Noaru/Noal/Ringo ( the blonde guy) when he had "amnesia". As far as I remember, it was only used in the original Japanese and Tekkaman Blade 2.

The series Media Blasters is releasing is quite old, and the Animation is quite dated ( and sadly fluctuates in quality due to different Animation studios being used on it)

I just purchased the first collection of the Tekkaman Blade in Japanese and I love it to death. Hey Matt, I forget but wasn't Tekkaman Blade released almost either around the same time or a couple of years after the Guyver 12-Part OVA cuz I noticed they definently use a lot of the same sound effect for the Radam mosters as they did with the Zoanoids and even other sound effects.

I remember That; The old UPN dub was what got me into Anime in the first place. I liked it more than anything else I'd seen; the storyline was great, and the character designs really appealed to me. I hated it when the show was cancelled.

Well my copy of vol 1 has shipped, so not long now till I have it, will be good to watch the series with a decent translation

HyperGuyver Feb 20 2007, 01:02 AM

I like the fact that collection 1 of the origianl Japanese version that Animeworks released not only came with 16 episodes but with one of the 3 OVA special episodes "Twin Blood." I love that one as the Animation styles and character design is a tad different.

I've seen the entire thing multiple times over. ( yay for HK Bootleggs - which i now have given away since I am buying the official release)

It's a series I cannot help but love. It has everything I could want. Awesome action, cool characters, even cooler looking mecha designs, and to top it off, an awesome plot with no less than 2 important scenes that I can honestly say were pulling on the ol' heart strings.

I loved Tekkaman Blade II as a kid. Guyver, mechs, etc. really were something I loved and was fascinated with growing up. I'm glad to see this series is finally getting the treatment it deserves with these releases. I'll pick this up sometime soon.

I just recently finished watching the entire series again, and love it so much. I remember when i first saw it on some UPN channel or something on Sunday mornings when i was in elementary school. Although it was a lame dub version it was awesome back in the day, but i was like the only kid in town who watched it. Good times!

Yeah, I'll have to get it too. I only saw not-so-hot AVI files of the TV shows, not DVD qual. Whee!

I remember watching this on UPN, and then it was abruptly taken off the air. I managed to find the remaining episodes, but with terrible quality. It was defiantly worth it.

It was on Sundays in my area so I would pretend to be sick so I didn't have to go to church just so I could watch the show! :) Didn't work all the time though, so I missed out on a lot of the show.

There was also an OVA called Detonator Orgun in the 90's that practically copied this show. At least I think it copied this show seeing as the show looked older. It might have been the other way around.

nice to see interest in the classic series.

Though I do have to defend one thing that UPN did right. The soundtrack they added like for the transformation sequence was a really nice update. Honestly better than the original japanese version.

And the names weren't butchered. "Slade" grew on my pretty well. gives off a very slick tone with a fusion of "slash" and "blade". heh of the creatives of a man living on the edge.

Anime Works has been releasing the original series in all its uncut glory! ^_- I've actually picked up the first two in a set of three volumes, which should include everything. (The Best Buy in my neck of the woods is selling each set at $14.99!) However, if you can't wait and don't mind owning bootlegs, www.sundevildvd.com (http://sundevildvd.com/store/product.php?productid=16410&cat=0&page=1) sells a boxed set that includes both the english and the original Japanese version for about $63.00. (Granted, the subtitles for the Japanese version are not all that great.) I picked it up a while ago, before the official release, and my only real gripe is that the video quality suffers from having both the english and the Japanese compressed on the same DVD. Otherwise, not a bad way to get both versions. (Note: The English version is the International Dub, not the UPN 33 version. Ringo/Noal and D.Boy/Blade voice actors are different and so is the intro.) Anywho, check it out.^_^

If you're talking about Burning Clock, Twin Blood, and Missing Ling, it seems like the Anime works in releasing them in their box sets compilations. To date, only Twin Blood has been given this treatment, though. (Note: The bootleg found at this site has them too, though not subtitled. http://sundevildvd.com/store/product.php?p...t=0&page=1)) However, I've seen all three on youtube w/subtitles so that's probably the best (read as: cheapest ^_-) way to get them without actually owning them.

P.S.

See my previous post for a litte more info on the bootleg.

guess im reviving a old thread, or tryin too anyhow! lol.

to be honest, i heard of tekkaman in a guyver fanfic somewhere and always was a little curious about it, but i never truly set out to watch it till something kenji said a while back sparked a memory of me wanting to see it.

so now i have seen up to half way, 26 i believe. and i gotta say.. o... my.. gawrshh...... thats freakin awesome series.

the animations does lax a fewtimes, but its only for an episode or two, not like the second act of the guyver ova. plus, the story is solid. i love this show. i was a little put off with what they did to dboys crystal. not seein the whole show yet, i hope they do something about that. if not, i can live with it, it just hinders dboy in my mind. he cant tek setta whenever he wants anymore, and thats a fatal flaw as far as i can see it. now im going to work tomorrow just so i can see the rest! lol.
