Choice for phones
120mb may be big for an internal memory, but that just isn't enough for other storage. My phone comes with a 1GB memory, but it's barely enough for me. I use my phone as an mp3 player so imagine how much space it would require. Not to mention that the maps from nokia maps 3 eats up a lot of storage. China alone is already 500mb. But I guess this depends on each user.

My, that is one frustrations about the E63. You'd thought that being an multimedia phone they would also include a data cable. Doesn't even have a memory card correct? I guess they call this "E for Economy" for a reason. How about bluetooth? There's got to be some way you can use the pc suite. Don't tell me the package doesn't include a PC suite installer?

That's strange. I went to the official website of nokia and had it downloaded there. I'm sure E63 is supported. Yup. it's there: http://www.nokia.co.uk/apps-and-services/ovi-maps/downloads-and-services Since you won't be needing the navigation, you don't need an unsigned installer or hack your phone. (But yes, I hacked my phone). At first I installed the official version and it worked pretty well. Although it's useless for me since the map in our region is kinda less detailed. But it still works. I downloaded it because I needed the maps for the other countries (like China and Singapore). But I saw the map for UK and it has a whopping 156MB, 19.5mb for wales. So you'd expect a rich detail when you check the map.

Oh, I though when you installed Google mobile, you also installed gmail. Anyway, I'm now trying to download Nokia Maps 3 (or Ovi Maps). I managed to find a crack that would allow me use navigation indefinitely. I think this will be very useful to you since it has a complete map of the UK. Also allows you to get your position even without GPS using your network connection (much like google). Just another question. Does your phone have a stop watch? Because I don't seem to have one in mine. This feature seems to be missing in some of the more modern phones.

Well, I've been searching around and I've come across Nokia Maps 3, which I think might be useful to you. I think our phones are only preloaded with Nokia Maps 2, as version 3 is still on beta testing. You can download maps to your phone and use it for free. And I think what you need to pay for is the ability to navigate, which would be kinda useless for you. Perhaps you might want to try it out. I'll try to get my hands on version 3 when I get home. Also, how do you find the separate Gmail client? I'm using the default email client of the phone to access my gmail and I'm not really that impressed with it, since the interface pretty much looks similar to the interface of the text messaging.

I see, so you really do need to be connected to the server, as the maps being loaded are real-time. That would explain the traffic updates, even though it's only available to a few select areas. In a way, to use google map, you'd have to either spend really less due to free wifi, or an insane amount of money due to data connections to your carrier network, especially when you're overseas. So your saying this is basically a mobile version of google earth? Do you think there is some way to have the maps downloaded to you handset so you can use it offline? I'd imagine the current google map would be worthless to you when you travel since you really need a data connection to use it, unless the city you are in have free unlimited wifi. I guess that would explain the 1mb file size when I tried downloading it. Man, and I was so hyped when you mentioned how cool google map was. But then again, I guess this can be seen as a poor man's GPS, that is if you don't account for the insane carrier fees. The good thing about this is that the maps are always updated, since it needs you to be connected all the time.

You know, when you mentioned google maps, it prompted me to do a research. It seems that it tracks your position by many means, thru triangulation, wifi and GPS. This will be very beneficial to me when I go overseas, as my GPS map only covers my country of origin. I've also read that you have to have constant connection to be able to use google maps. I hope you don't mind if I ask a few more questions. How do you rate google maps in terms of accuracy? (how many meters) How do you connect to google maps? Did you download it via wifi or through data connection? Can you download maps from other regions? Does the navigation work well? How about the directions? Can you access google maps without any connection? (switching the phone into offline mode) I still have a lot more questions to ask, so I hope you can bear with me. Since I am on a post paid plan, I'm afraid of experimenting for fear that I will be heavily charge for the data connection due to experimentation.- Choice for phones
Hmm....Google Mobile. I'll have to take a look at that. With regards to the map showing your position, I think this is network dependent. Some mobile networks utilize this to track where your phone using triangulation from cell sites. I have friends who have a company issued phones that has a tracking device to know where they are. The only drawback about this is that you can only use this when there is a signal. Unlike GPS, since it uses satellites, can be used regardless if there is a signal or not. How long does it take to get a lock on your location? I'm not really familair with the youtube app plugin, but I can view youtube videos on my default phone browser just fine without any help. What exactly does this plugin do? I'm really interested in the voice recognition. Some phones already have a built-in voice recognition, but is quite sensitive and frustrating at times when they don't recognize your voice due to a runny nose.- Choice for phones
One thing about Nokia firmware, is that if you decide to upgrade, it will let you upgrade to the latest firmware, and will not let you choose. I used the Nemesis Service Suite to change the settings of my phone (change the phone region) to get my desired language. Though I'm not sure if there is any disadvantage about getting a newer firmware. Also, if your interested, you might want to check out www.dotsis.com. That's where I usually get my applications from. Although most of them are unsigned, so you sorta need to hack your phone. Got a nice Castlevania game there, Aria of Sorrow. hehehe.- Choice for phones
Very nice. Also, about the map, is it the nokia maps? I was told that you could only use them for 2 months and then you have to pay a service fee. But then, I wonder how you could use the map when you don't have AGPS. And it's usually a good idea to upgrade the firmware of your phone, unless you want to hack it that is. I only upgraded my phone's firmware once (if you guys remember, I did this to get the chinese language). Then hacked it so that I can install unsigned applications (I needed to do this because my quickoffice was not a full version, it only allows me to read documents but not create them). But £25 to get the phone unlocked? Isn't that quite expensive? We could do it a lot less from here. Perhaps you might want to try upgrading the firmware first, who knows, you might not need to bring it to a service center. Or you might want to do it yourself, as stated here: http://www.wikihow.com/Unlock-Your-Nokia-Cell-Phone Anyway, how does the phone feel in your hands? Not too flimsy I hope.- Berserk
After a long stay in the sidelines, Gats is finally going to kick some @$$. He gets to have Pirates as a warm ups. It's been a long time since we've seen Gats in action.- Zoanoid recruitment?
Well, for one thing, Chronos is rich. the world if full of mercenaries that are willing to become hired guns. Of course when they get processed, it also makes them absolutely loyal to Chronos via telephanic waves of the Zoalord. Like I mentioned earlier, didn't they have a whole village that are full of Zoanoids? I seem to remember hearing from somewhere that they kidnap people in their sleep to process them, then return them to their homes. And since they're already processed, they are assimilated into the Chronos Collective, resistance is futile.- Cronos currency
Guy: How much does it cost to be zoaformed? Scientist: Around 50 to 60 thousand Eartho, depends if you wanted to have an add-on accessories like Microwave Lasers or Stealth capabilities. Guy: I'll have one of those 5000 Eartho sonic blades. Scientist: That would be 56000 Eartho then. Who would have thought that a serious issue could be so funny. I like those bills. I'd like to imagine what coins would look like.- Zoanoid recruitment?
Didn't Cronos already had a whole village to test out zoanoids back then? Then after the world conquest, didn't people just volunteer to be zoaformed?- Choice for phones
Okay.... paper phone...... I don't know if I should take that seriously or laugh out loud. Seriously, it's a good thing to not rush into it. Who knows, perhaps from now until you get the phone, a new model that has better features and a lot cheaper might come out. Not to mention that the price of the phone might also go down. I noticed this particular trend with Nokia Phones, they tend to depreciate very fast. The first month their expensive as hell, and then the next, they're cheaper like they're throwing them away. Well, that might be an exaggeration, but you get the point.- Anime you are currently watching and/or Downloading
Regarding Claymore, yeah, the last few episodes are really not that good because that was the point where the TV series skewed from the Manga. And I'm going to tell you, that's not what happened in the manga. I'm currently reading the Claymore manga and it's very good.- Choice for phones
Ahh, good to hear that then. So, have you decided on when to get it yet? I can still remember the feeling of anticipation and the excitement of getting a new phone when I was still researching for the phone I wanted. Do you think it might be a good idea to go to the showrooms of Nokia just to get the feel of the phone before you proceed with buying the actual phone? You've must have probably done that already, no? I really can't stress enough the solid build of the E-series. I feel that the stainless steel back cover is really one of the strongest point of the phone's design.- Choice for phones
I see. You'd be surprised at the kinds of phone some jobless people have over here. I don't even know how they could afford a high end phone. I guess you could attribute this to culture. Anyway, my reasoning behind not buying second hand phone is because of how the people here treat the phone. Usually, "pimping phones" is somewhat a common trend to mobile phone users over here. People would just go anywhere and have the phones firmware upgraded, or rather "Hack" the phones (for example: some phones are locked to certain mobile carriers, thus they have their phones hacked so that they can use the other mobile carriers). And most of the time, second hand phones tend to have more "errors" compared to that of a brand new phone because of the aforementioned hacking. If it's never been used, then I guess that would be fine. But wouldn't it be very difficult to get good deal off a phone especially from ebay since you really don't know how well maintained the phone is?- Choice for phones
Wait, so you're getting a second hand phone? I'm not sure that would be a wise idea. Or you're just using ebay for price comparisons? But then again, that's way cheaper than my phone. I bought my E66 for around $360. But that is strange, I'm sure the blackberry cost a lot more than the E71. Perhaps it's the origin on the phone? I know that Nokia phones that are made in Finland tends to be more expensive. The price for China/korea made Nokia phones are around 20% cheaper. But I'm not sure if that would be available to you.- Choice for phones
sorry for the late reply. I'm currently in china and i just found out that they had free wifi in the exhibit hall. Anyway, is the e71 and blackberry in the similar price range? I'm sure the e71 is a lot cheaper than a crackberry...err...i mean blackberry. I think you'll just have to add a little to get a e71 from the e63. But any of the e series from nokia is still good. They have a solid build and feels tougher compared to the other nokia phones. This post was made from my nokia e66.- Choice for phones
Might I suggest, that since you're getting the E63, perhaps you would consider looking at the E71 as well. The E63 actually has lesser feature than my phone. You could say that its somewhat of a mass produced model. But then again, E63 is a lot less expensive than the E71. The main advantage of the E71 is that it has a built in GPS, while the E63, you need an attachment for it to work. You could check out the comparisons of both phones in GSM arena here: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone2=2599&idPhone1=2425- The Awesome Figures Thread
>_> ?? Are you sure that was me? I have never paid any attention to Faiz until just recently. Perhaps it was someone else. (edit: I think you got me confused with Deka. He's the one that sold his faiz belt.) With regards to KR merchandise, the oldest merchandise I have is the Sticker of KR 1 to KR X joining hands in commaradery. Also a Sticker of V3 shaking hands with Spiderman. Aside from that, just the 2 SICs and a few gatchapon that I gave away here. I wanted the Decadriver, but I would have to pay double if I ever purchased it. It's sort of my limiter, when I buy expensive toys ($20 or above), I have to buy clothes of equal value for a certain someone.- The Awesome Figures Thread
Woot! Here it is. I'm going to safe keep this along with my SIC Kuuga. Can't wait for Decade and Kabuto.- The Awesome Figures Thread
I Finally got my Kiva!!! As in just this minute. I got a text message just a few minutes ago informing me that my pre-order has arrived. And since the shop is just beside our office, I went there immediately. True enough, it's there!!! After months of waiting it's here!!! yes!!! I have also pre-ordered Kabuto. I guess I'll have to wait longer since they'll be available Jan 2010, that is if there will be no delays. I'll show pics when I get home. It's not really appropriate to take a picture of your toy while your at work. - Choice for phones
