  1. From that speech, I get the impression that it's blaming video games. True enough, video games of today are more reliant on sharp graphics rather than in-depth puzzles. Of course there are still a select video games out there with true story, but gone are the days where you actually need your wits to play a game. Games like Incredible Machine which requires logical thinking are no longer made. Only popular games like Halo, and any shooting games seems to be famous. Although intellect-wise they prove to be no challenge, research shows that children that play these games have improved reflex as well as hand and eye coordination.
  2. Well, based on the discussions being made (well, it actually seems to be only the both of us), the navbox is approved? Since it's easy to edit, I'll just add the navbox to existing guyver pages. Also edited the Valcuria=>Valkyria and removed Mount minakami as it is the one and the same as relics point.
  3. With the current trends of movie coming out of hollywood, I no longer expect something new from them. Instead, I see them as an avenue for lesser known series to reach out a wider audience range. One good example is Twilight. Before, they were just books written by Stephanie Mayer. With a small following around the world, now that the movie's come out, it became a phenomenon. You might say that one positive thing about Hollywood is that they can really hype things up. Before the Harry Potter movies came out, I have never heard of J.K. Rowling. And Tom Clancy was just some other author before Hunt for Red October was released. What I'm getting at here is that even though Hollywood has lost its ability to be creative (originallity-wise), they have evolved into a medium that would make an unknown famous.
  4. Great song from the Phantom of the Opera. You just gotta love Gerard Butler. From singing as the Phantom to the great king Leonides who proclaims "This is Sparta!!." Now that's what you call talent. In response to that, I offer this song. This is one of my favorite part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHAauiJwwmU
  5. It seems the video embedding was disable by youtube for that video.
  6. Goodness. My sincerest apologies for this. I did not realize such carelessness on my part. Let me retract my statement as I was actually referring to "Hollywood" and not the "West". Please do forgive my inappropriate statements. I will no longer compare creativity from Hollywood to those of the "eastern" counterpart. But I will use Cannes Film Festival instead. Storywise, hollywood cannot compare to those movies being presented in the cannes film festival. These movies are made by unknown people and yet famous people laud these work. What I really hate about hollywood is that they don't know when to stop. They just keeps on milking series as long as people will continue to support them sacrificing the quality, thus the creativity issue. Usually, good creativity stems from unknown film makers trying to make a break into hollywood. Only a select few film makers maintain good creativity when their status rises. I will admit, Tim Burton never ceases to amaze me with his creativity. on the other hand, I never really did appreciate the works of M Night Shamalan. For me, if you've seen one of his movies, you've seen them all. But look at how many movies hollywood churns out in a year. With a number of subpar films coming out from hollywood, I would not question as to why people see this as lack of creativity.
  7. Well, like Tales have provided, west copying east is very evident. But I'm not really that well informed of east copying west. (this is in terms of media only, fashion and the other stuff are quite evident). but using your example above, Sentai imitating marvel, were you refering to X-men? If so, I don't see the x-men wearing similar outfits with different colors and using weapons or giant robots. The east may imitate the general idea, but the west copies the whole thing. I give you example. Lakehouse starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock (believe it or not, I loved that movie). This movie was based on the korean film Il Mare. I'm not sure if you would understand this, but copying is somewhat different from imitating.
  8. Actually, my point was that the west just simply copy, whilst the Japanese, even though they imitate, at least introduce something new that would make them seem original. I guess you could say that this is where the pioneering habits of the Japanese comes in.
  9. Well, if the written english in the book says its Valkyria, who are we to argue? Also, is Mount Minakami and Relics point one and the same? I can't seem to remember well. Anyway, it's easy to edit so no biggie.
  10. When did the west ever get creative? All they ever do is copy.
  11. I've decided to initially make a guyver navbox. Based on the first suggestions I've made. Of course I think we should iron out first the navbox before we put it to use. I'm also thinking of using this instead of the zoalord navbox once things are ironed out. Because we would need to reformat some of the pages to be able to link them properly. see link here: http://japan-legend.com/wiki/index.php?title=Template:Guyver_navbox I'm sure there are a lot of stuff that I wasn't able to include. Feel free to mercilessly edit.
  12. Oh My! My apologies, I did not realize that you were using anchors for that page. In any case, the page now looks much better and easier to edit.
  13. Phew, took me a good while to edit the synopsis page. I've cleaned up a lot of the formatting and included the Japanese titles for each volumes. I can say that the synopsis page now looks more reader friendly. With regards to the ISBN, I'm not sure how we can link it to the merchandise page right now, since the merchandise page only lists what came out when with no further information. I think we should keep the ISBN as is and link it to the particular merchandise on the merchandise page. However, we will need to rework the merchandise page to make the ISBN link practical, like containing sites where that particular item may be purchased, dimensions, weight, etc. Again, I'm not equipped to take on this task as I have absolutely little to no merchandise relating to guyver. But don't worry, I think we will get to that part eventually. Let's just think macro and work on it one small step at a time. Hey, this is kinda fun.
  14. Well, I've re-configured the guyver synopsis page. (hope nobody minds). It now includes placeholders for information like release dates and ISBN number for the japanese and english release, as well as the title for the books. Also added chapters that are not yet in full volume, although the chapter numbering might need a little correction. All that's left to do now is to fill up the missing information. I'm still thinking if I should link the chapters to the page of each book. Like clicking on chapter 10 will link you to the summary of chapter 10 on the book 2 page. You know, using the "#" reference. But the page for each books needs a little more work. A task that I am not equipped to do since I have never read any of those chapters. Will continue to work on this to further improve the overall presentation.
  15. Well, I've added the publication history as well as other characters. I'll continue to update this as time permits me. Also, should we keep what's written on the terminologies refering zoanoids as a piece of paper? I find it funny, yet somehow it kinda relates to the relation of the zoaforms. And zoalord as Michael Angelo of the Sistine Chapel?
  16. I just added a few short descriptions for characters, just to start the ball rolling. As well as place holders should other people want to create pages for said characters. Also, I'm thinking of fixing the guyver synopsis page, just to make the page look coherent. Additionally, should we have editing guidelines for the guyver page in terms of formatting and content? Having different people work on different pages would have some pages somewhat inconsistent. I also noticed that the zoalord pages contain spoilers. Perhaps a warning tag may be in order? With the volumous amounts of information that will be put into this project, I'm still thinking on a navbox for the guyver pages, similar to that of the zoalord navbox.
  17. Another one of my recent favorites. Meet me Halfway by the Black Eyed Peas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A_arjPCKXA&feature=fvst
  18. Here's one from Yukie Nakama. This song was used as the opening of Rockman X4. Not sure if anyone has heard of this, but I prefer the Original Japanese Opening compared to the lousy metal BGM of the US version. That MTV was a little bit bland. So here's the Rockman X4 version. A little short, but makes the song look cooler. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BacTWKYpvOU
  19. Now here is something you don't see everyday. Mario vs Airman (from Rockman) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBEiS9oSnuw
  20. Before I proceed, I thought about using this layout for the page: =History - something like publication history =Synopsis =Character ==Protagonist - Just a gist of the characters, with each character having their own page. Similar for the rest of the characters below, or just a link redirecting to a page dedicated to the characters. ==Cronos ===Hyper Zoanoid Team 5 ===12 Holy Commander ==Zeus Thunderbolt ==Others =Terminology - Just the usual terms like Zoaforms, Zoanoid, Hyper Zoanoid, Lost Number, Zoalord etc. with short information and all linking to other pages for more detailed information. Information about the Guyver (like control metal, Bioboost Armor, etc) can also be placed here with links to other pages for more detailed information. =Adaptations - here is where the other media is located. =Merchandise =Translations - Obviously where the advocacy and the text translations comes in. =External Links I hope this will merit everyone's approval.
  21. I just took a peek of our Guyver Page after reading Mirabilis' suggestion. I have to say, the page seems to need a little re-orientation. Would anybody mind if I revamp the page a little? Nothing major, just relocating some stuff so it won't look disorganized. Also, perhaps we can also apply the end page navigational template here. You know, like the one I made for the KR pages that have links to every titles that are related. Perhaps we can include in the navigation template links to the manga, TV, OVA, movies, Advocacy and etc. Here's my proposal at the moment: Main Page: Guyver Guyver Side: Sho Fukamachi, Tetsuro Segawa, etc etc Chronos Side: Alchanfel, Balcus, etc etc Zeus Thunderbolt Side: Agito Makishima, Griselda, etc etc Others: Apollyon, Valcuria, etc etc Terms: Zoanoid, Hyper Zoanoid, Lost Number, Zoalord, etc etc Location: Relics Point, Mount Minakami, Arizona HQ, Silha, etc etc Media: Manga, OVA, TV series, Novel, Movies, etc etc Advocacy: VDF, Volume 9, Volume 10, etc etc. These are just at the top of my head. Perhaps you guys can come up with something better.
  22. Lo and Hello. It's me again reviving yet another old topic. I'm currently reading The Great Train Robbery by Michael Crichton. It was a really cheap book (like 0.20 cents, because it was a clearance sale from a book distibutor), so I picked it up. So far, I find the concept interesting. Just recently started so I haven't really gotten into the gist of the story.
  23. After watching Binbo Danshi, I really liked this song. Monochrome by Bennie K http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHzcpzq2A6U
  24. Oh yes, I've seen Rocky, but was still very young to remember the exact details of the movie so I wasn't able to catch Rocky actually screaming Adrian. The ping pong practice was really funny though. The scene where line up to form the word Adrian!!!! Then after a few days, it turned into Ari, and then Ah! It was really a LOL moment for me.
  25. Unfortunately, I have never seen the OVA. But I too liked the songs in the second series. With the way the manga is currently going, I'm inclined to think that Arakawa is planning to finish the manga. The story is already in its climax. All the key people have begun to gather and something big seems to be set in motion.
