  1. Well, who's better in interpretation: Shizu in the OVA, or TV series. I know that the deviated a little bit from her character (she wasn't really distressed about Agito's absence in the manga and she was confident that he'd return), but it was great to get more of her insights on Agito, something we haven't really gotten until fairly recently in the manga. That, and I think that Brittney Karbowski did great voicing Shizu in the TV series. It was one of her first big anime roles.

  3. Hi everyone. I had a huge sinus headache this morning. I only really got up about a half hour ago, though I got up at around 11:00 to help out with Grandma. I plan on some gaming, fan fic work and spending some time outside today. Tomorrow's weather is looking even better. I'll be back later
  4. I'm now on Celxia 40mg right now. Hopefully it'll help out my mood some more. I still feel a bit drowsy, but it didn't help that I ate 90% of a pizza and then went into a food coma and fell asleep. Right now, I'm reading a weather book when I go to bed before I sleep. I was planning on playing some Postal 2, but I had to update some Steam thing, and I'll try again later on tonight. I might not work on fan fic tonight because I did a lot of running today and I feel a bit tired still, but I'll work on it tomorrow night when I'm not expected to do a lot of running around like I did today.
  5. Hi everyone. I have my doctors appointment today, I'll have to go to Walmart (pick up prescription refill and my brother wants to make a set of keys), and try and get a Little Caesar's pizza for dinner. I hope to work on fan fic later tonight and do some gaming later, too. I didn't do too much last night--read, slept, ate chicken nachos, watched Ancient Aliens, slept some more, helped grandma this morning, and now I'm waiting to get ready for my appointment. But I do have some plans for tonight, and at least after today, the weather will be decent, pretty good actually. I'll be back later

I wouldn't trust public transport in my country, which is why I use a taxi service to get to work or my brother if I get in a pinch, and my brother to run errands. I know that the Dutch get pissed in general if their stuff is more than 2-3 minutes late, and in Japan, the people there often get PO'd when their stuff is more than a minute late. But where I live, I don't get public transport anyways, though I don't trust myself on a bike and people drive like assholes out here anyways, so that's probably for the best.

  8. In Japan and England, it seems you can get domesticated barn owls from pet stores. And you're not alone. You can't own a barn owl in Ohio because they're an endangered species. You can't own one unless you get a permit, which basically means you also have to own a bird sanctuary or preserve.
  9. I tried voting for her earlier, but the vote didn't register. Hopefully it worked now.
  10. I think that most people here might know who my favorite is based on my profile pic, and in the other anime/manga character thread, I spelled out these reasons: "She's beautiful, smart, is a fighter, stands for fidelity, excellent example of a female leader and doesn't sink down to stereotypical male leadership examples. Is the polar opposite of her boyfriend Agito though she assist him in anyway she can. She's also kind and compassionate, sort of again the polar opposite of Agito. I also like Mizuki and Natsuki, but Shizu is my favorite of the women from Guyver."
  11. BTW, for more details on what Shizu is sort of like after her re-processing, there's this article on vampire hybrids: http://twilightsaga.wikia.com/wiki/Hybrid
  12. The problem is policing it. Unless someone volunteers to administer that aspect of it, we're left with systems with loopholes in them. Besides, we do have to face reality here--how many people still sneak into R-rated movies? Probably quite a few. How many people who are underage still look at porn or bloody violence in any media, let alone online? This stuff isn't 100% preventable, no matter the system. Hell, how many of us watched Guyver (be it the OVA or TV series) under the age of 13, which is my minimum for where I wouldn't question it so much if people watch it? Probably a lot of us, me included (in my case, the OVA). No system is fool proof, or persistence proof in this case. Maybe a separate area of the of the forum dedicated to "adult oriented" materials is the best we can do if the staff members want to go that way. As I've said, it's not like Guyver or other Japanese media is "innocent" when it comes to violence or nudity--and just to point it out, there's quite a bit of male nudity compared to female nudity, though in either case, it's rarely if ever overtly sexual.
  13. Well, I did in the past ask how well Guyver characters would do in the realm of Twilight... But I think it's a fair point to say that the Guyver units were designed to function in space, but that was with aliens, and not humans. How Guyvers work with humans in space is sort of an unknown, unless we know how close in Guyver canon that humans are related to aliens.

  15. Hi everyone. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow for my anxiety stuff. I didn't do too much yesterday after I got done watching a sportscar race. Tonight, I plan to work on fan fic and some gaming, and making my chicken nachos. Other than that, I don't have too much planned. I'll be back later
  16. Hi everyone. Well, first thing I had to do after I got up was take a shower. Sleeping under two blankets, one being electric, isn't a good idea, even when it's cool out at night. It'll also be up close to 80 later this week where I live. I found out my mother and older brother like owls, and my mom and father are visiting today. I even got some pasta stuff to try later on. The main dinner tonight might be chicken taco nachos--I didn't make that last night, so I pushed it back until tonight instead. Other than that, I have some gaming and fan fic to work on, now that I've got a lot of time between the Spa WEC race and the LM test day and LM race. I'll be back later
  17. Yet, the Smart's been around for a while (I even saved an issue of Car and Driver from 1998 that talked about a early EU spec version) and hasn't landed on very many "World's Worst Car" list. I'm not a fan of the Smart car, but I'd argue that there's been a lot worse. I even own a book about them, called "World's Worst Cars". Mostly crap from the 1970's and '80s, rehashed old cars, stuff from British Leyland and Fiat/Alfa Romeo in the '70's and '80s, and from behind the Iron Curtain pre-1990. Pretty interesting read.
  18. Taco Bell sells something like that, though I like to make my own. The Taco Bell stuff has shredded chicken in it, which is OK, but I prefer real chunks of chicken breast. That, and I also like the spicy red sauce from tacos. So I just make the stuff myself. Kinda time consuming (thaw chicken, cook chicken), but it's worth it and I can control what goes in it.
  19. My belief is that there should be limits. There's stuff in Guyver that I wouldn't recommend for anyone under the age of like 13 or so. I myself don't have a problem with nudity when presented in a tasteful, artistic way. But when done solely for titillation or for the hell of it, that's a limit for me as far as what belongs on a fan site, let alone in a publicly accessible area. Also, unless said person is at least in puberty and familiar with the changes of the human body at that age of sexual maturity, and they themselves are mature enough to handle it, the probably shouldn't have easy access. This also means that the images have to have artistic merit, and can't be outright porn or outright hentai, though the English language's loose definition of the word doesn't help the merit of the word "hentai" either. I'd also put restrictions on sex acts and such in the artwork. Basically, if it's lingerie/bikinis, it might belong in a 13 and older section, nudity would belong in an adult oriented section. Problem is how to police it? Age gates and such are honor systems and they're certainly not infallible. Hopefully there's a solution to this if this site wants to head towards allowing graphic, but hopefully not very offensive, fan art.
  20. I have some pretty good ideas for the next chapter, I just have to type them, which fortunately will come soon.
  21. I certainly didn't think that the image was offensive in anyway, but I can see with her breasts out that some would consider it objectionable for youths, though breast scenes have been allowed in PG-13 rated movies for years. But it's no worse than other images of Shizu from the manga. But it's not like she or most of the other women run around naked for the hell of it. I guess maybe we can see this as sort like the violence in Guyver, which is sorta bloody violent, would we let anyone under the age of 13 read the manga or watch the OVA or TV series? I probably wouldn't. Maybe a similar standard needs to be looked at here with some of the fan art.
  22. I'm drinking some Mountain Dew Baja Blast. It tastes pretty good, but it's got a ton of sugar in it. I guess that Pepsi was trying to make something like Red Bull or Amp that didn't taste like a mix of camel crap, mule piss and owl pellets strained though a car radiator.
  23. The problem is that Guyver is a shonen manga, and it's deliberately aimed at teenagers. Namely, teenage boys. Granted, Guyver itself isn't insanely adult oriented nor does it feature a lot of what could be considered fan service (Shizu, aka the chick in my new profile pic, being nude in a liquid filled tube a couple of times, Aptom threatening to kill Mizuki, etc), but what is there isn't used gratuitously, aside from maybe Val, but we all know what her character origins are and what happened there... But there's a lot of fan works that border on what might be acceptable or not, including one that floats around the web with a (presumably) nude Shizu with butterfly wings floating/riding on Agito with Agito in his Guyver armor. I don't know if Shizu is nude or not (Guyver III's head is where her unmentionables are), but for sure her breasts are bare. But that's no worse then the scenes from the manga with her in the glass tube (her breasts have visible nipples, but her genitals/reproductive parts aren't clearly defined). But granted, it does seem that for the most part Yuki does want to keep the main site as PG/PG-13 rated as possible, and limit access to the adult stuff. I do vote for something like a birthday indicator or a capatia, or maybe something that cross references a member's birthday in their profile. Besides, maybe it's best to remember that beauty isn't skin deep, and the cutest/sexiest pic I've seen of Shizu was of her fully clothed, namely page 6, Nov 2012 chapter.
  24. Hi everyone. I got up about an hour ago, and to my surprise, Audi were competitive at Spa in spite of being down significantly in terms of top speed. They got all their cars home in the top 6, one podiumed, the other could've if not for an extended pit stop due to a wiring fault, and the LM spec car drove a careful race and did one less pit stop than it's competitors. There'll be no sportscar action until the Le Mans test day in early June. Tonight, I'll probably chill online and maybe play some Postal 2 and have some chicken nachos later on, and work on some fan fic. I'll be back later
