I don't know why but this chapter never really clicked with me even though it does present a lot of important stuff. Namely that Sho really is stuck to the Guyver, at least until the Remover appears, he's a clone and that Agito was willing to kill him. Maybe because even then something about it feels like a breather issue. Like Takaya had to go 'wait they loved Guyver!? Shoot do I bring Chronos back or have a new set of enemies? Got to buy a little time...." Even though this is a good idea with the Bio Boosted monster. Though on the other hand we never do see it again and we've seen Guyver lose limbs aftward haven't we but they never became creatures again.

Yeah good points from the other guys such as the high frequency sword thing. I remember the night I noticed the blades were extended in the first two issues I was like 'whoa!' Now MAYBE if I was first reading Guyver and didn't already know about aliens being involved I might have been shocked by Guyot's explanation closing the story being a good climax. Instead I already knew about it so it does feel like a bit of a let down even with the amazing development that the Guyver can regenerate. Now I liked the OVA retelling of it where there's a bit more action but I really love the anime version which is a two parter with a lot more drama to it. We got the ZerebuthXRisker rivalry ending, Agito setting the self destruct while casting suspicsion around other's motives, Hyper Zerebuth, Guyver II vs III briefly, Sho trying to figure himself out as a clone and other things.

Recommended places to buy it?

I always thought the sixth chapter was a slightly disappointg closer for the first adventure...so it really works out that Guyver continued after this. I mean there's no one on one fight and we don't have a lot of scenes of Sho fighting Zoanoids. And what with the sudden vibration blade anyway!? For years I figured he learned the high frequency swords while fighting Enzyme in chaper 5 but when I finally got the Viz volume I was shocked that he just pulled the power out of no where with no surprise. At least he reacted to the pressure cannon and Megasmasher debuts.

Well I think the reason why Sho dies in the fifth chapter is that Takaya was given a deadline of 'okay we'll give you six chapters with this story. See how it goes. If it doesn't get an audience then you're going to be given a romance-comedy set up to work with.'

Oh yeah. If there's one thing I miss from the original Guyver II is that shocked panel after getting punched. I thought everything else was better though, especially that big punch.

Slightly bummed we already saw the book cover a few issues ago. Hopefully we get a few answers or a neat surprise this chapter. I mean yeah we gotta have slow chapters to build up to the next big fight or else the pace would be crappy but I'm hoping.

Basterization or Perversaion? I do like 'out of control' since it was something of a catchphrase/motto for the franchise.

They made the capped 'detective' Australian in one of the dubs! Yes though I prefer Yi's translation to Viz's they weren't perfect.
-
Hey I like this! Keep them coming! I personally prefer Chronos though. Kronos and Cronos just look wrong for some reason. I didn't get why Viz was so hellbent on making all Guyver chapters single worded.

Thanks Guyver Alpha!

Oooh that's great! Kind of seems very 90's American comic book...that isn't McFarlene/Lebfeld.

Heh I like the clothes on Gregole-Girl and Elegin-Girl.

I much like the second scheme more. Yeah I guess the first book could kinda be its own little tiny arc but then the third book cold be its own little arc too. So I think 1-8 is good.

Well I'm glad we got another chapter. Not that interesting but y'know after all the awesome of the last battle we gotta wind down before we get another fight y'know? Still I hope this delay is worth learning Apollyon's identity.

Guyver 12 part OVA and TV series camparisons or opnions
daveblackeye152 replied to Primex's topic in Guyver
I think the anime series is closer to the tone of the manga. I like the anime more because it plays up the human aspect while the OVA played up the violence and alien aspect more. Even the music of the OVA seems more alien and not so emotional. Not that I tink the OVA is bad by any means but I guess I like my alien superheroes to struggle more with their former human lives, not saying Sho never did. I certainly much love how Anime Sho spends an episode or two struggling with being a clone while even the manga sort of brushed it aside after a chapter. -
Whoops! Missed that first part. Sorry about that.

Hey that's how I broke it up!

Well right now I see about four arcs. 1-8: Opening storyline/Mimikaki. 9-16: War with Chronos. 17-25: Rescue Aptom/Assault on Arizona Base. 26-???: Final Arc maybe?

Why is everyone wondering if Valcuria is still alive or what Guyot is doing? The last chapter saw the two hopping a fence and Shin reacting to seeing Guyot again on the very last page. Did I dream that or something?
-
I don't think Tetsuro and Mizuki are at Archanfel's island either. I get a very different feel from it but we could be wrong. Oh and I like the Shizu x Valcuria picture on the first page. Now, to those wishing for Shizu and Valcuria nudity: just remember this, Shizu lost an arm in the last battle and I think a lady with a recently lost arm isn't quite as hot. I mean might be some fan diservice there. But who knows, maybe there will be some bonus pages in the next volume.

Damn this is heavy. I never figured we'd get so much potential knowledge on the Guyver from the book.
-
No, there is some news on one of those characters. Look at the last page again.
-
Welp it is mostly a recap issue. Though it seems Shin is making connections to various things. And I can sigh in relief at one thing...last page is kinda interesting.

Did Valcuria survive!? Or Natsuki!? I must know!
