I know some of you guys have relocated. this is something that is on my mind recently. it's n secret that I want to eventually live in Japan, but there are whisperings of things in my life at the moment, I'm not going into it because there is nothing concrete, but just recently I had a serious thought about the idea of relocating. so I'd like to hear about your experiences. Up until today I had not had any real concerns about relocating and was happy with the idea of moving to Japan in the future or to any other country, but then today I had some serious thoughts about what is in another country and what is here. I don't have a lot of friends, I'm not close to my family, but I find that I have come to the realisation that aside from all of that, I am familiar with this area. I know where all the shops are and I know where to go if I need to research. I have lived here for 32 years and it is home. but thinking about going to a completely new place for an extended period, that is interesting because I will know nothing. of course I can learn quickly, so I don't suppose that will be an issue. but all of the people that I am familiar with, it will take time to get that kind of thing again. I mean, any day I am walking about and I might see the hair dresser who used to cut my hair when I was a student. little things like that will not happen in another place. then there is one thing. I have a buddy here who I have known all my life. I see him every week and we do various things together like watching doctor who and x-factor and a series called 'an idiot abroad', and we share whatever video games we've been playing and maybe now and then share cooking tips etc. now, if I am not here in this town, that will not be possible. we don't generally chat a lot, so talking on the phone would not work in my view. it will be like I've lost a friend. not really of course, I can always come back for visits, but it won't be the same. I'll learn how to deal with that of course. in time I will eventually get good friends. maybe not the type of friend you have known for over 30 years, but you can find people to get on with. I'm not going to let things get on top of me of course, I'll just work through that stuff, I just wondered if you guys have similar stories and maybe you can talk about it a little bit. share stories. I mean on the occasion I find myself in another place, I will probably want to share the excitement of it as well.

I don't know when I'll be able to do it though. it all depends when I will get disposable income to purchase the domain name. I really need to watch my finances at the moment. so I would suggest, do what makes you happy, and when I make changes, I'll keep in mind ways to accommodate any valuable work you do. I must admit, I think a resource to help further celebrate these lovely ladies, would be a wonderful thing.

with plans to not renew the japan-legend.com domain and instead take out the guyveradvocacy.org domain name, will it work out? do you wish to keep working on project toku wiki under the new name? maybe toku.guyveradvocacy.org? or something like that? of course, if this is something you want to do, I will help in any way I can. I'm not sure how to display images that are hosted on another server. I think it would take me just as long as you to locate that information on the mediawiki website. actually you might find it faster, your research skills surpass mine in this area I think.

my thoughts... if a host were not already wearing his armour, then I don't see any reason why there would be any interference. I can't think of any time when we have seen the unit auto-equip itself. it is a nice thing to think about. do I think it would equip itself on death? probably. but if the host gets injured or sick or anything like that... no, I don't see it. it would be very inconvenient if the unit auto-equipped if shou stubbed his toe, for example. so i think the second unit would respond and bond with him. then when it comes to bio-boosting, I think shou could be aware of two signals. he could summon each one separately. but i can't see any way they could both equip at the same time. but if they could, it brings me to the second scenario. could shou equip another guyver while bio-boosted? I can see that it would be possible for the control metals to detect each other. one of two things could happen. either the CM will cooperate to create a dual system, or the equipped CM will tell the dormant one that an equip is not necessary. for such a versatile system, I think the host would get more of a choice or a way to exert his will. so if shou then said I WANNA EQUIP IT. then it would activate and join the original CM on the forehead, maybe side by side, or maybe merged together like the DCM from the relic. I don't think it has to be a destructive process. they may be able to separate at any moment. but then i think each of these could be equipped separately. and if they are ever equipped together, then they would merge the CM and augment each other. I think that this could be possible and i think it is plausible considering what we have seen up until now. edit: I forgot the third scenario. if shou equipped a second guyver while not bio-boosted, then he equipped one and tried to call the other, I believe the two CM would become aware of each other for the first time. the one that is currently equipped would tell the second one of it's status and the second one would revert to it's dormant state. that is the other possibility.

how does anyone arrive at the conclusion that two control metals could not work in unison, sharing tasks and co-processing in places? I think it would be cool if people could include the logical processes behind their conclusions

yep, zoalord is sort of 'beast god commander'. that is what the kanji says. but it is always accompanied with the pronunciation guide 'zoalord'. beast god change is accompanied with the pronunciation guide 'juushinhen' which is a japanese term so I think translating it is correct. oh here is something interesting. just checking on possible sources for the term zoanoid and zoalord and this is a very interesting thing - http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=zoanthropy I never thought of 'zoa' being based on something genuine, i always thought it was invented I disagree on the out of control being a possible interpretation of kikakugaihin. I've played around with those kanji a lot. it doesn't stretch that way. è¦æ ¼å¤–å“　the kanji refers to standard or norm. it could be stretched to mean out of the ordinary, but control isn't a factor. it isn't present in any way. it could be implied, but it's not referred to. I wish i could see the japanese text for that specific panel, I would give you a literal translation of it, but i think we have seen that chuangyi can take a lot of liberties and warp the meaning of things at times. although if you mean that we can take it as an implication then yeah of course. I totally agree with you because human beings were 'guided' to be controllable by the creators so a human that is a non-standard product or 'not to specification' would imply that one of the main features is missing. I agree that billions of years seems like a very long time, but I am 99% certain of that. I actually did make a mistake on it at first. I missed it by a factor of ten, so when i corrected it , I made sure i got it absolutely correct. if only i could find the post I made then I could check the kanji and confirm whether it is the british billion or the american billion. it's is tragic that we have different version of a billion. oh yeah about shizu, they were agito's 'vassal' or something weren't they? I think yohei was referring to her ability to do that kind of stuff, preparing food, etc. I don't think they had planned for her to become a combatant.

i don't recall any flying. basically that old dude bad guy just appeared. they dont have a gattai mecha yet. episode i think 8.... no, 8 is my next view. the challenge to creating convincing CGI models is surface materials, detail and render time. I've noticed on the new lion thing in gobusters.. can't remember what it's called... one of teh shots, it was clear that it's jaw was modelled very simply. there wasn't much bevel or chamfering and it looked flat. in short, the edges were too perfect. this is the problem. they have to make it look like it has been constructed. if the corner is a perfect corner, it looks false. also, if they don't get the materials right, the object won't look real. they need to get the right amount of reflections and specularity etc. what they could do, is to use the models and then use CGI to animate some parts of the models. is that what you meant? they wouldn't be using pure CG footage, they would be warping and morphing real footage.

I translated the time period a couple of months ago. I can't remember what I was working on at the time, but I presented an accurate and reliable number. also, the meaning of guyver was made very clear. kikakugaihin means non standard product. out of control has nothing to do with it.

ah, I see what happened. I mixed the name up with nick cage. isn't he making a ghost rider movie or something? and it's been in development for about 8 years or something ridiculous like that.... yeah I was just thinking it sounded like Spawn sounds interesting.

oh, and i watched the episode with the samurai dude in it last night. it was so awesome when doushi kaku was telling us about the historical dairangers!! I even go goosebumps while watching it! something I haven't had from super sentai in a long while! I know who the samurai guy is now too and that is such a cool story element. but that will be covered in more detail next episode.

wow, you think they look tacky? yikes. ok fair enough, I can't challenge your sense of aesthetics yeah gobusters does of course have the live action shots, but it seems to me they are very much separate. I mean, when cb01 is in cheetah mode, I am pretty sure it is completely CG and can't recall ever seeing a physical model of that cheetah. also, when in humanoid mode, and flying across the city, I am sure that is completely CG. oh, ok I got a screenshot... in this shot, all of it can be made with real physical models, but it is completely made in CGI, to me, that is lazy and cheap but it also means that their ethos has changed. they are less in favour of wonderful looking effects and more in favour of what is economic. they could make that sequence look incredible and pretty much spot-on with physical models but instead they choose CG which will never quite attain the perfection of physical reality. that's why i think the effects in this screenshot is infinitely superior!

yeah you're absolutely right. it is a challenge to get it right. in these situations you just have to judge it, watch the image closely while you're moving your sliders in the adjust levels dialogue. you have to make a compromise. it could be tempting to do some more extensive editing but then you compromise the integrity of the original image. with this kind of scan it is best just to make do with the best quality that we can get after adjusting the levels. after all, our intention is to get people to buy the tankoubons. bbdude, that was not quick! it took a fair few hours to create that image. yes it was all manual work, I created all those lines and boundaries myself. it is not a cleanup. to paraphrase barcas, I think this one became my original. it's best if I don't follow the lines exactly. If I tried to create a perfect copy, it would have taken a lot longer. if you were to compare it carefully you would see some deviations.

I guess it really depends where your priorities lie. I mean, I really love the special effects in abaranger. the dinosaurs use CGI but they look good even though it was something like ten years ago. some of the recent super sentai, they use CGI but it looks poor. gobusters, the movements are cool, but the usage is lazy. they prefer to do a whole sequence in entirely CGI rather than using a mix of physical and CGI effects. when CGI is used to support real effects it looks best. but CGI is difficult to make it realistic, what with lighting etc. maybe you can see what i mean in this clip. skip to about halfway through. I think the effects in this are far better than most of the recent series.

yeah, that isn't cleaning the page, that is editing the page. IMO the only thing that would be permissible is to use the brush to paint out some of the more persistent background noise. anyway, thanks for working on it and showing us personally, I think the people who normally provide them do a stellar enough job. have we ever really had a final scan that is not already cleaned? the one that cannibal found this month, was that clean?

yeah I thought about whether there was anything I could do about that, but that would mean creating extra shots. creating entire new content seems a bit too ambitious for just me.

whatever tutorials you've been following are criminal. how could they tell you to do such things that would destroy the beauty of the original drawings? image>adjust>desaturate image>adjust>levels input levels :- 120 1.00 180 output levels :- 20 255 accept that is the process for the image you presented. that will give this outcome. to adjust for different source images, you need to take the middle slider all the way down next to the dark point, then move the dark point to get rid of the worst 'noise'. then do the same for the light point. then set the midpoint back to 1.00

yes, of course it does have to travel. I don't believe the enzyme is in the blood. I believe it was engineered differently. after all, barcas re-engineered it from the ground up didn't he? what we have noticed in this case is that the enzyme does not lose potency when contacting the air. so that is different for a start. but it seems that maybe it is not ever present, it is perhaps only secreted when it is consciously attacking. so in that respect, the enzyme gland could be like a bladder and the enzyme is pumped through channels to the mouth, claws and pincers when it needs to. at other times, the enzyme is not completely present in other parts of the body. I realise this is crude, but it could operate like the male 'liquid evacuation' system. I honestly can't think of any other biological system to compare it to, sorry. so if you were to slice through the 'male liquid evacuation cylinder'... you would not find a great abundance of those liquids that normally leave by that method. they are stored elsewhere.

That's kinda the point I was making. Dave said that panel establishes that the enzyme is in the blood but I was pointing out that it doesn't necessarily establish that the enzyme is in the blood. for consistency, it would follow that the enzyme is not in the blood, that panel shows guyver III suffering because he punched it in the 'enzyme gland'.

when i was painting his face, I started to notice, it actually has a lot of hallmarks of aptom. look at his mouth area, and compare to aptom full blast mode. those grooves are the same structure. also, around his neck, the design is very 'aptom-ey'. Lindsay, awesome drawings! love it, really gave me a good laugh! oh, the dragon punch, i think that is referring to when shou sliced his leg off. he come up out of the ground with his fist above his head. it is very similar i think.

Lindsay, Good eye! thanks for the criticism. you are absolutely right of course and I was focusing on that a lot with my revisions to the animation later on. that is why if you look at the finished work, it is a lot better. I did use a profile pic of guyver drawn by takaya sensei himself for the work so the end profile is about as correct as it can get. the animation was definitely off though as you rightly pointed out. the reason is that i was tracking it too fast for the rest of his face.

if we check the diagram of enzyme II where it shows a cross section of them, doesn't it show the enzyme generating/storage organ in the area where guyver III punched that enzyme?

I believe showa is the reign of emperor hirohito. the emperor of Japan through world war 2 and up to the year indicated by Dave. the thing about N city, it was made to be vague as it is not a real place. it is based on a real place though. Nagano. there is a mountain very much like minakami there, you can find it on google earth. but it doesn't appear to be as large as mount minakami. so it is N town, N prefecture. is takeshiro in the manga? I don't recall. I think takeshiro could have been a name given to the village just for the 12 part OVA.

special effects have a long way to go IMO. I think with special effects, the physical models have so much charm. I think it's more about the craftsmanship than any technological capability. I am not sure about hurricanger but i think there was some CGI in it, but it didn't look bad. it was used well. I think CGI needs to compliment the live action footage. A good example of how physical effects can be better than CGI is the film prometheus. a lot of the sfx in that was done physically. the tall white dudes, they were real people. I don't think any CGI could have come up with something as amazing as that. because it is effortless. it is real. there is no mistaking it. no worrying about light rays or transparency etc. it's real. and its beautiful.

the fire is really nice again! the image looks really good. I don't know ghost rider but i think it has something to do with johnny cage. is it a comic book or a novel or something? anyway, he looks scary. a flaming skull and all that. wouldn't wanna mess with him!
