cheers odin! wow, that guy looks pretty mean! so he is in no way connected to Godzilla then? that is difficult for me to process. I sort of have this idea in my mind that all giant monsters are part of Godzilla. I suppose ultraman proves that idea wrong... I'll have to try and deal with that somehow. (maybe it's like how I can't really tell the difference between Marvel and DC) so if I were to watch any Gamera at all.... What would be a good idea? I watched some old Godzilla movies before and found them to be boring. but that could be because I was a kid. not sure. do you have any idea what a good Gamera film would be for me to watch? I might not even like it at all. or I might love it. I did like Ultraman Cosmos. there could be similarities perhaps. well I'm not into the mindless violence and extended fighting. so if there is something that has a good story alongside the cool special effects then maybe I would like it.

hey you guys know Gamera better than me. If there is a cool picture of him, then you guys would know what to look for. any chance somebody could post one? I am sure if I did a search for it, I'd find all the wrong pictures of old films that look rubbish.

I thought issue 700 worked quite well though. last time i saw spiderman, ben reilley was pretending to be spiderman and there was this guy called spidercide and a guy called kane. reading this, I didn't find myself to be too confused. I mean of course, I had no idea who that cop lady was and no idea why JJJ was not in the daily bugle, but those things don't really matter.

thanks for sharing your thoughts I know what it is I want to do though. I don't want to run a huge Anime site. I just want to feel that what I am doing is worthwhile. scaling down the site is actually achieving that much more than scaling the site up would. scaling it up, would bring trolls and flamefests etc. but scaling down, reminds us of our community. This place has been really nice recently. I think the scaling down has had a big part to play in that. also, making sure to focus on the most important things.

That's awesome!! thanks Lost Unit! here, I'll embed the viewer into this post. [guyver]guyver_dvd_booklets/[/guyver] ooh, there is a surprise! murakami is aptom's sempai! OMG... I can't believe the spoilers they put in the third booklet. why do they think it's ok to spoil the manga like that!? damn...

actually, it was when I caught sight of episode 7 of kamen rider faiz that I first took an interest in kamen rider. I must have seen some bits of kamen rider before that, but when I saw the events that transpired in episode 7, I had to watch the whole thing. not sure if that means it is the best of kamen rider, but it was enough to get me interested.

I don't want to sign up to a service to download it.... Lost Unit, why not upload it to the manga viewer?

kamen rider blade... I have started that series about 4 times now. each time, I've got through about 5-10 episodes and got utterly bored with it. There has to be a reason for that. I wouldn't force yourself to watch a series if it just isn't doing it for you. I think it's often a good idea to give a series a few episodes to make a good impression. but at this stage in our lives, most of us have a clear idea of what we respond to positively. Aether, definitely watch Ryuki. It is very entertaining watching the main character blundering around. The development of teh characters in that series is so valuable.

vip membership was always $5. If you want manga that you can read comfortably on paper, we need to get it properly published in English.

I'm confused as to what a b movie is then? I've seen a lot of movies that were not hyped up an awful lot that were amazing. I mean, I don't remember a lot of hype for the original hellboy. was that a b movie?

hi, thanks for supporting it, I just checked the health of the different files, noticed S01 was not well seeded so I'm running that one for a while. you should be seeing an adequate rate around now. hopefully. p.s. may as well include a little update for anyone checking back here. I've released up to episode 18.
-
lost unit is learning how to do an html page, we'll be releasing that way. as much as I'd like to say I trust VIP members, I don't. anyone can hand out $5 and they could be trustworthy or not. as such, it would defeat the whole object of doing an html version. so no, there will not be a separate scanlation for VIP members. Toku warrior, you need to catch up man! forget about money and feeding yourself and rent and all that, you know guyver is more important than life itself!

I'm interested in this point, because to me, I felt these robots were very impressive in the way they had some good weight to them. it was my strong feeling that the robots felt a lot more solid than what we had seen in the transformers movies. I shan't compare it to Robot Jox right now, but do you also think these robots have more heft than the transformers?

although I often cite Kamen rider Ryuki as being the series that effected me the most, I actually think the best series was Kamen Rider Kabuto. The design was far and beyond, the best of all series so far. just the way it works, it was all so cool. The story was solid and the characters were all well developed and likeable. while Ryuki was very emotional in places, the general design was not that hot and the story was actually stretched out a little. some things I loved about kabuto the most were the focus on cooking, and tsurugi-san. I actually really love the actor for tsurugi, he has so much charisma. in terms of design, kamen rider faiz comes after kabuto... followed very closely by blade. though were blade falls short is the story. it always bored me to tears whereas i watched faiz all the way through. in terms of story and positive feelings, I am thinking den-o and decade actually come pretty highly. while the design is not as strong as kabuto and therefore put them below kabuto in the league table, I think the overall story works better in those two series.

thanks for checking it

but those effects look amazing! or do you mean they could have been bad? The main weak point about this film IMO is the name. The name is not very memorable. that is a real shame because there is a possibility that this will not do as well as it could, because of the name.

what a lovely message hope you have a wonderful day my friend.

Thanks I really enjoyed that! I love his honest, exploratory and thoughtful critique. I don't have the academic background for the ideas he refers to, but it all sounds very interesting. the ancient spaceman theory? not familiar with it, but it is certainly interesting to think about. I think I was with him most of the way through until he started talking about the butterfly effect. I think the time travel thing is taking it a bit too far. it's not really suggested in the film as far as I could tell. there doesn't seem to be any real signposts. well apart from the maps being accurate to our present day knowledge. could have been artistic license, or it could have been time anomalies... but to be honest, i don't buy it.

I've slept since then the terms for 'lighting up' and 'unique pulse' are both together. it is a complete phrase. so it's safe to say the unique pulse is a pulse of light. I'd love it if durendal reviewed my translation to make sure, but how I currently understand it, the way the remover works is definitely by a light pulse. a strobe type effect. you mentioned light beam... well whichever way we look at it, the pulse of light will form a beam. because that is what light does.

just to be clear, I have NEVER seen the handbooks from the ADV guyver DVD's so I would have to say, they have never gone through this forum or the guyver advocacy project. if somebody has them, I would certainly like to have access to them. I don't think scans of the ADV books are something that we can claim any control over. the images and text do not belong to us in any way. they are not our intellectual property so I don't think it makes sense to keep them private.

Are you talking about this guy: If so, this is Apollon, an completely new mystery character. Agito still is using his Guyver unit, but now has his own Gigantic armor as well. I'm sure alkenfel was saying that he thinks guyver 3 is using the same unit that was guyver zero.
-
We have certainly missed many of them, but it's not something I am likely to approach myself because of the way they are written. this was very difficult to translate, and the others are likely to be just as troublesome.
-
I'll add some notes. 'booster' is defined as "the bio-boosted person" the unique pulse comes from the remover by way of it lighting up. here the noun 'light' is being used as a verb. light coming from the remover and creating the unique pulse. I think it's pretty clear, I hope I'm communicating it effectively.

Aether, do you have book 8 Japanese? if so, can you scan that datafile, because I don't have access to it. if I can see the text, I'll go to the trouble of searching the kanji and translating the important parts.
