yeah i have thought of going on dragons den. the thing is, you need a viable reason for it. I'm actually a big fan so I know the score first thing i need is something to use as demonstration, so I need a prototype. once i get a prototype, I can iron out any details and get to work on patent application and merchandising. then get orders. once orders are gotten, go to bank and talk to bank manager, show him orders and ask for money to fulfil the orders. money goes back into business account from sales and ensuing profit is used to push further sales etc. looking at this plan, i don't actually see any need to go to the dragons. but then, I may see that as a possibility in the future.

thanks for that yes, I know that it's experience that is the most important thing. actually this monday i'll be taking the class myself for the first time. I mean, I've taught by myself before but generally it was only in small groups and most of the time, there was somebody else acting as organiser, but on monday, I'm top dog. i got a lesson plan made up already and should be fun. I actually think my lesson plan is better than what we normally do. the person I normally work with is an experienced teacher (years working in a school) but actually i don't think he is as experienced in language. most important thing though really is getting a start and that means money. I need some substantial money. either i need to get a job working for some company and start saving or I need to get my product developed properly and start manufacture and merchandising etc. i think a regular job might be a good idea. although I don't like the idea of being a 'stooge', i can probably find a place where i won't be disrespected or in fact make it clear from the beginning that i won't accept that kind of attitude towards me.

i find it very stressful to have a computer that is struggling. I'm saving up for a new one right now.

ok that's a nice way to look at it. well I think that lack of emotional involvement wasn't the most of my concern, I guess it was something that would make me continually interested in it. some mystery or something. for the majority of the beginning episodes it is basically "we want to get a wish granted so we look for dragonballs" now that, to me, is hardly any substance at all... really not enough to go on and if it were to continue like that then i could not imagine how anybody could enjoy that for so long. anyway, now i have seen gokus secret. he looked at the moon. so now i have to see where it will go from here. I think .. from here I am going to see if my interest will raise or if it will flop. edit: so many people have recommended FMA brotherhood. I was very reluctant as i remember the original series being somewhat depressing at stages. but so many people have recommended it... I think i can at least give it a look. what's the worst that can happen? it is a very long series as well! 61 episodes so far? well that's more than a year, that's pretty good.

I've been watching dragonball recently so I got to episode 11. so far I'm finding a lack of emotional involvement. like.. character development seems to be lacking somewhat, it seems a little bit shallow and perhaps concentrating mostly on comedy and action perhaps. I'm not sure, do you understand what i am saying? I am sticking it out though, I want to see what dragonball is all about. I mean, it's pretty popular and the comedy has been rather good so far. only thing is, I'm finding it a little emotionally draining so far as I find that i can't really relate to the characters very well. let's say, the moment when i really became invested in the characters in naruto was when sasuke and naruto were caught by that guy on the bridge, as kakashi was fighting zabuza. so I realise that dragonball may needd a siilar amount of time for me to become invested in it. some series are quicker, some are slower, some just are no-hopers. dragonball has some really good elements in it that i am willing to give it a lot of my attention even if i am unsure if it will really satisfy me in the long run. I'm paying attention to your recommendations, thanks I have a few on acquisition at the moment so i can't really go for any more right now.

betterman? never heard of it, sounds interesting enough, I'll do some research on it.

it's not your fault, it's animaniacs fault! [emote=onion]hoho[/emote]

did i read it on here or did dekared tell me in person? apparently, they are planning on drawing from previous year instead of current year. this means they know exactly what footage they have to work with and should give more consistency. so new series would use shinkenger.. i think.
-
good to hear I'm looking forward to any picture you might be able to post
-
nice work dude green ranger is super awesome!
-
good to hear, nicely done i'm about the same. i think it's cool your reaction to go-onger, shinkenger and one piece. I was the same. didn't like them. i think you have good taste in anime and when somebody else recommended d gray man, I remembered that you had spoken well of it in the past and that's why i decided to watch it, not because of somebody else but because i remembered that you liked it. [emote=monkey]psst[/emote] i wanted to watch azumanga daioh, the subs were pretty bad though and i couldn't enjoy it. i loved the game for zone of the enders. somebody said the anime was good. i tried watching abenobashi once, didn't like it. can't remember why. i watched one episode.

sorry to hear about your day dude. hope it get's better and sorry if it seemed like i was chewing you out. that wasn't my intention you gotta admit though, it does seem like a bit of a bombardment though

why would you take a series i have obviously made a decision to give a look at, and just crap all over it? you tell me i should skip it and that it's mostly filler, how can i take it seriously now? i don't care if there is filler in a series if the story follows and is enjoyable. i watched the sanbi arc in naruto and i really enjoyed it until somebody mentioned it was filler and therefore had no real substance. it made it fake and i lost confidence in it. i feel it's really unfair to look at a series somebody has chosen and then tell them they are wasting their time. also, remember this thread is about appropriate anime to fill a slot similar to naruto. it's no good throwing random anime at me that you just so happen to like. that would go in a plain anime recommendations thread.

what i really like about dragon ball is the pure innocence with which they approach sexual themes. it is so refreshing. in my view, it is in no way fanservice, it's pure comedy. and wow, dragonball was made in the 80s... i never expected that. the style is so different to nowadays anime. it reminds me of ushio to tora. that's probably the oldest anime i watched.

i bet you'll be playing los of games

i disagree with the claim that people don't go for campy stuff anymore. it may be that there simply isn't anything around that is campy and actually good. I mean... I would still like to watch the original power rangers. and part of the reason i'm completely not interested in power rangers recent series is because they take themselves too seriously and end up being lame. and the in-your-face morals,,, well morals hardly even exist in these shows anymore and that's part of what actually made it for me. i would struggle to figure out why this might not be era for this kind of thing, i don't think there are such a thing as era where certain thing will work or not. i think it all depends on how you market something.

nice, what model is it? does it do amazing things? I need to get a new computer.

i believe they are quite tough to get now. I have 1-9 and would be willing to sell my collection if the buyer promised to scan them in. edit: if you email comic d legacy they should be able to help you get new copies.
-
i think i'll give it a look then. thanks for that suggestion.

i would think that welcome to NHK is quite depressing? I mean, it says on wikipedia that it is about young men with depressive epsodes. I like to watch things with a positive outlook so I'm not sure if that is suitable. ah, fist of the north star... a classic anime. I used to watch that years ago. maybe.. over 15 years ago i watched that. although, what i watched was either an ova or a film. it wasn't very long and i'm pretty sure i don't recognise the clip you showed. was there another production? like a series?
-
that is kinda odd. I am perfectly happy with the animation in naruto. yet I am one with an animation degree. ironic eh?
-
sorry durendal, I seem to have missed this part. I'm open to many different types of series. I've got a thing for some j-drama, enjoy series like densha otoko, ohitorisama, atashinchi no danshi, binbo danshi, zettai kareshi... I've never been able to get what moe really is, but I have watched and enjoyed mai hime, ouran host club, furuba, honey and clover, tenchi muyo, haruhi no suzumiya no yuutsu, ... are any of these moe?
-
yes, I'm getting dragonball. also, I am getting d-gray man and something called fairy tail. I think i gave one piece a fair chance. it's just not my style. I will say that it is a very good series, I'm not knocking the quality of it, it's just not what i'm looking for. i think... I'm passionate about landscapes and so when looking at the art style of one piece, you see the backgrounds are very minimalist. it doesn't give me the depth of atmosphere i need.
-
yeah, the style is pretty camp. the way it is presented seems more cartoony with the exaggerated character designs and the simple animation. the story is a little more simple too. at least up to now it is simple. i passed the episode with the dog and his store. it's pretty emotional, reminds me of how i felt when i watched pokemon. in this case, the dog was very much like pikachu. I'll give it a few more episodes to see how it goes. but i might stop watching it. I might watch all of naruto again or i might watch some drama. I have zettai kareshi to watch.
