  1. according to the theory of time starting at the big bang, there is no such thing as 'before the big bang' . if you really need to try and imagine it, then think of the big bang as an infinite event, that if you try and follow a scale of time and go to a time before the big bang, all you will find is 'more' of the big bang (actually the same). you can try and go further back in time but there is nothing but the beginning. anyway, that's just a way to understand that concept. at the end of the day, I'm with you on this; god is not subject to the laws of physics as they are currently described. god created everything (in so far as you believe in god) including the laws of physics and time itself. how could god create time? if there was no time, then how could god have performed any actions. well it's simple. man cannot understand god. this is why so many scientists and atheists can say that god cannot exist or that god doesn't exist, it's because none of us can possibly understand or truly comprehend god. things that 'disprove' god actually prove god. and so on, it is all so complicated and simple at the same time. I'm not saying that I believe in 'god'. but i hope you understand the things i am trying to say. in case you are interested, I have a mix of thoughts that follow animistic ideas, panentheist ideas, and also things that are not really possible to put into words. and of course I adhere to scientific ideas.
  2. it's nice. I think it would be cool if we could rephrase the guyver advocacy works to have such a poetic dialogue.
  3. just finished ep 2 of abarenbo mama. i'm really enjoying it. of course it is a different feel to a lot of the ones i've watched up til now. there's no courting or romantic suggestions so far, as the main character is already married. the focus is on hte relationship between her and the little boy. the focus on a child is intriguing as it is sure to give us links to our own childhood and things that we remember about our relationship with our parents. i find myself with a very strong emotion towards the little boy, I really have a strong connection and want him to be happy. ( thinking about it now, it is similar to when i watched densha otoko) this is a good series so far, I wish for you to give it a go. give it maybe 2 episodes to see where it goes. you might find it agreeable before that, but i feel that at this stage i have learned about the characters and am hooked.
  4. eiji is in a state of depression so he isn't really functioning like a healthy person anyway. I don't think he is even capable of a healthy relationship at the moment. not until he finds his desire. you never know, in these final few episodes, he may find his desire and may start to shine, then we may see some suggestion of romance.
  5. I don't really see it. It's not normal for the producers to unnecessarily romanticise the show. it's one of the things i really love about the japanese, they make it a bit more realistic. sure, eiji may have had a few naughty thoghts about her, but there is no real reason why they would become involved. there doesn't seem to be the right situation for it to start with and she doesn't appear to be that into him. she cares about him as a friend would, but it doesn't seem to be anything more than that.
  6. i can't believe it's so close. It's a shame i can't read your spoilers because i'm only watching them when subbed by TVN.
  7. wow, that is scary! glad you're ok.
  8. wow, I just read through this entire topic. hey Ryuu-oh, I need to apologise to you for seemingly ignoring your recommendations for Otomen and then later 'introducing it' as though you had not mentioned it at all. not sure how that happened but it wasn't very fair on you at all. here is my updated list - keitai sousakan 7 mei-chan no shitsuji binbo danshi atashinchi no danshi densha otoko ohitorisama zettai kareshi yama onna kabe onna Otomen Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo hanazakari no kimitachi e (ikemen paradise)
  9. that's cool, loved the old power rangers. tv nihon have been releasing juuranger and i think i quite like it. last night I finished watching hanazakiri no kimitachi e. that i have been calling Ikemen Paradise. It was really good and i definitely recommend it to you guys. if i were to be brutal about it, I would say it's pretty formulaic with each episode containing some sort of task for the entire school. that could get tiresome but I enjoyed the development of their relationships so much that I didn't mind. I'm looking forward to the second series that I believe is coming soon. I think it would be nice to have a website like anidb except for j-drama. I have issues remembering which ones i've seen, who is in it and what sub group i watched. there is dramawiki but the site is slow and is often quite sparse on informations. and it doesn't allow us to record which ones we've seen. I think i have to look back over this thread to remember what i watched. so I still have hotaru no hikari. I'm wondering if i can be patient with the subs. that first experience was a pretty bad one and got me quite stressed. I realise that it was a rather fast and busy sequence though. it may be unavoidable to have that kind of things. maybe the series does not have many of those type of fast paced scenes. I seem to have one episode of samurai high. I haven't seen that so maybe I will watch that., but for some reason i have not watched it. that seems odd. why would i be holding back on that... ANYWAY. I have found one new series that i am planning on watching. abarenbo mama. it is about a girl who meets this guy and marries him then a 5 year old boy turns up and claims to be their child. she has to learn how to live in this neighbourhood as a mama. this has a different focus to what i'm accustomed to, housewives and a suburban neighbourhood and a child. it will be very interesting and maybe refreshing. anyone got any recommendations? what have you been watching recently?
  10. nobody mentioning Tony Jaa?
  11. I was very close with somebody that came from foshan, the home city of yip man. she didn't know anyone of import though. and she didn't train in wing chun, although she showed me some of her tai chi and was very good, rather beautiful.
  12. well i'm really enjoying ikemen paradise. i' up to about ep 10. anyone watching or seen it?
  13. I think that's generally always the case. when we experience the original version of something, it becomes the benchmark. I guess it is down to us to be tolerant of any failings or not. it's my choice whether or not to tolerate such things. I think as long as I can make my complaint, then perhaps i can forgive it and put it behind me.
  14. if you're interested in body control and balance and self defence, look for a jeet kune do class. it's not a specific style, it's more of a philosophy and will incorporate lots of different styles, I went to a few JKD sessions and found myself learning bits of muay thai kick boxing, kali, pantjak silat
  15. ah yes ok. well in that case, I can answer better I do see things that I find sickening, BUT there are other parts that are done well. so, I continue to watch because i want to see those good parts. to be honest, I have not seen anything like that until now. but then, I had skipped all the filler episodes and before that, I had not read the manga.
  16. ah great, glad it's got to you. sorry it took so long
  17. I never said it depresses me. there are many points in which the anime does just fine. the extra little bits they added in the pain arc was quite a nice addition. it's only the most recent episodes where they have done some things which I have expressed distaste towards. i think you got the wrong impression.
  18. i'm not happy with the anime these days. have you see the recent episodes? it's kinda sickening what they are doing. they have kakashi acting like a complete moron and they even had konohamaru performing a harem jutsu. he can't do that. the only reason naruto could do it was because of his huge reserves of chakra. they're not respecting the source material and it's making me feel sad.
  19. my favourite was the one that destroyed the sky temple. the one without a nose, but also very pumped up in his physique. the way he kept cracking his neck was just so intimidating. it was at this point that he was scariest in my opinion because he was similar to the terminator. he had an obvious intent and was not to be distracted. it's funny that she he absorbed the other guys and gained a nose and gained in intellect, it almost put him at a disadvantage as he could be distracted in some ways and engaged on an intellectual level.
  20. ugh dammit, I am so tired, I shouldn't have read this. i think i can reply to something you have said, but i can't figure it out at all. is there something i can reply to? I tell you what, I'll write something you can respond to so i can see a response in the topic and remember to read again and reply tomorrow. which is your favourite version of buu, not the good one, the bad one. i mean when he is bad.
  21. yeah , I've give it 3 tries and really tried to stick with it. I'd like to watch it so i can join in on your conversations about it, but I just don#'t seem to enjoy it. nope, nothing esoteric. The Z sword. it's the only thing in the entire series that refers specifically to 'Z'. and it had been suggested that the series was focusing more on Gohan than Goku. of course, the way that came across was not as effective as it could have been. it was Goku who finished off the final baddie. which sort of explains why they might have stopped it at the end of the cell saga, because it was gohan that finished him. and of course, that series being called kai, there was no reference to the 'z sword' or by extension what could be considered the 'z power' ?
  22. I kinda think when it comes to the majin buu saga, there are a lot of important things that happen. like the change in goku and vegeta's relationship. there was a lot of things that really got finished off well. I love the fact that mr satan actually did save the world in many ways. obviously he couldn't have done it on his own, but if it weren't for him, they would have been finished. very cool. I guess it would be kinda perverted watching GT. it doesn't fit into the original story that Toriyama wrote. that's why i want to find other stories by him. blue dragon has turned out pretty ok, even though toriyama didn't write it. I'd like to watch dr slump but i doubt i will be able to get hold of it. vegeta with a moustache....? uuuuhhhhhhh oh yeah, last thing i wanted to say, majin buu saga is kinda essential at explaining why the series is called 'Z'.
  23. I agree, I am almost always disapointed when i learn that the issue is going to be about somebody else... but then it turns out to be a real corker XD
  24. heh heh, that's the same clip that jerrygoodman posted
